HoPiKo provides endless epic challenges that may feel overwhelming at times. It fully requires a flawless reaction capacity from the player, making the "trial and error tactic" your best ally in order to achieve perfect timing in every move. Despite its difficulty and some downsides like the lack of leaderboards, the cool aesthetics, catchy soundtrack and short load times makes it easy to pick and play at any given moment.

While Artifex Mundi has fixed some of the most glaring issues of previously released titles, Eventide still misses the one key element that can take it to the next level: characters and stories. Toy Odyssey: The Lost and Found is a great game if you can look past the flaws. If I were to bring up a complaint apart from the basic story, it would be that the combat feels a little clunky in the beginning when you don’t have many abilities and advanced weaponry. Despite that, it’s still an expansive roguelike experience that people who like the genre must play. You’ll love it if you adore games like Bard’s Gold and Rogue Legacy.

System Rift is a fun two to three-hour add-on with some decent new challenges to overcome and an okay mini-plot, but players who were hoping for something with a bit more narrative weight to it will be disappointed. FIFA 17 is a great game. The on-pitch action is as realistic as it’s ever been, aesthetically and mechanically, but not without some shortcomings. It’s no longer stagnating like last year’s iteration, but while The Journey is fantastic, Career mode still feels woefully underdeveloped.

Personally, I would wait until the price drops slightly down, because $60 for three remastered games is a bit rich for my blood, especially with a wide range of excellent titles releasing this holiday. Despite its short length and constrained gameplay, it tells an intriguing story with multiple layers and given its low price of admission, I heartily recommend it. My only complaint would be that I wish the game allowed you to interact with your environment more and explore it to a greater degree. While there are secrets which need to be discovered through multiple playthroughs, that sense of being caged never goes away. However, that doesn’t detract from the gameplay and Virginia is unlike anything else you’ve ever played before.

Pure Chess: Grandmaster Edition is a great game which teaches you how to play chess and gradually builds up the difficulty in its single-player modes. It’s a lot of fun on your own and it’s even better with a friend. I just wish the creators had incorporated some new ideas rather than giving the same generic chess game we’ve come to expect from others.
