It combines some of the best elements of Metroid and Mega Man and blends them together seamlessly. Other than camera problems and occasionally excessive load times, ReCore is an exciting experience and one of the Xbox One’s best action games.

A very interesting start to what could become an amazing franchise, Recore has so many good qualities that it is a great disappointment that it lacks those extra 4-6 months of extra work and polishing which could have made it an instant classic.

An adventure with the flavour of old school, which incorporates some great ideas but suffers from clumsy frame rate and some other technical issues. Give it a chance, though... it might surprise you.

Had they put a little more money, time and attention into ReCore, there could have been an awesome game here. Unfortunately only the gameplay is okay, the rest of it is just meh.

ReCore is breezier, smarter and more accessible than a lot of its moneyed, would-be contemporaries. Traversing its empty open world is a chore, but when the game carries you indoors and places you inside one of its finely tuned dungeon-style levels, it’s unquestionably good, old-fashioned fun.

The first couple of hours of ReCore were almost downright magical. The story had me on its hook, the gameplay was fun, Mack was adorable and so much fun to use in combat, and I admit that the environment initially took my breath away. A few hours later, everything fell stale. The gameplay gave way to typical dungeon-platforming formulas. Even the beauty of the characters and environment appeared to diminish, as though the game was slowly rolling back to the PlayStation 2 era.

It's all a shame because ReCore shows so much promise in its opening hours. It's easy to envision a way in which all those ideas could manifest into something great. They don't, though. Instead, it's just a jumble of mechanics that never jell, gameplay that grows stale far too quick, and insulting design. System failure.

Sure, the loading times could be better, it is some tech issues here and there but when it is going, it is GOING. Fast paced, fun, beautiful apocalyptic planet and a loveable heroine and not to forget little Mack, this game is what a game should be... fun and easy to get into.. hard to master.

I don't work for these people, I have nothing to gain or lose but for $49.95AUD you get a whole lot of game and a whole lot of fun, don't let the negs keep you away from giving this game a try, it is worth it, guaranteed

First off, I haven't played any Metroid games and I have only played very few Mega Man games. Now, while this title does have it's down sidesFirst off, I haven't played any Metroid games and I have only played very few Mega Man games. Now, while this title does have it's down sides such as FPS drops, slightly annoying camera angles and slow load times it's still a great experience and worth playing. I haven't finished the game as yet, so this is a review based on about 10-12 hours of game play.

The graphics are fine, no issue with those and they help create a great atmosphere. it's not hyper-realistic (as you can tell from the trailers) and I think it looks great and goes well with the style of game.

I enjoy collecting things. Each map and dungeon allows you to see your progress and how are you are along to collect all the chest, items and cores. Aside from the collecting the game play can be quite challenging and the ammo colours definitely add a new dimension to the whole situation which is great! At first it seemed a bit easy, but when enemies start resisting your current fire mode it adds a challenge.

There are loot chests hidden all over the place to allow you to upgrade your Core bots which is pretty fun and it allows you to change how you tackle enemies based on the bot you're using.

The music is great, repetitive, but helps set the tone of where you are or what you're doing (such as combat). Some of the pieces definitely help sell a lonely isolated feel.

The Core bots you meet along the way are interesting and speak some unintelligible language (although there are translators out there apparently). The audio bites you pick up that are essentially voice messages of people involved on Eden are a nice way to sell the world and draw you in.

Definitely worth while picking up if you enjoy would enjoy a third person puzzle-shooter with an interesting story.

I remember watching the Microsoft E3 2015 press conference live with friends and being astounded when Recore was revealed with a beautiful CGII remember watching the Microsoft E3 2015 press conference live with friends and being astounded when Recore was revealed with a beautiful CGI trailer. At last I thought this was the break xbox one had been searching for. An interesting premise which looked fully AAA and legendary game creator keiji inafune at the helm, I thought there was no way Microsoft could mess this up, and finally after so long, xbox had found it's next biggest franchise.
Time moved on and no news came. But then E3 2016 came around and we were all anticipating the gameplay reveal; sadly thats where recore's story goes downhill. The game looked far from AAA and not very appealing. Some aspects were cool but we were left wanting more. The game got it's September release date and now the wait was on.
Recore launched to mediocre reviews and they are all warranted. Some moments of the game, like its fun dash move and platforming were surprisingly fun! But overall the game was very repetitious not only in gameplay but in it's world. Not to mention, to fully beat the game you were required to grind extensively for cores just to continue progressing. The characters can be fun and you enjoy having your robot companions fight along side you while also upgrading their armor and attacks.
The game ultimately falls flat but the potential is there. With more money and a larger scope recore could be an interesting franchise for xbox. Sadly with Microsofts recent trend, it's safe to say most ip from the xbox one era will never see the light of day again.

Save your self and don’t play it. This is one of the worst games I played, I’d rather play a web game than this ****
