However it lets itself down with load times and technical hiccups.

The game is never amazing, but it is never awful either. If they fix the technical side a bit I might be tempted to give it an 8. Equally I feel it kind of deserves a 6 for their technical mistakes. But overall given its less than premium price a 7 seems a fair score.

If you are still not sure, wait a few weeks, they'll probably have fixed the tech side and you can enjoy the game as it should have been released.

Recore feels fresh for a shooter platformer, that quite frankly is a 3D version of Mega Man. Yet, that didn't rob me from the fun. It has original and fun bots, puzzles, platforming, and RPG qualities that make you want to play it. Seriously, the curiosity and drive to acquire parts for my bots kept me going.

Here's where Recore falls short. It's painfully obvious, the creators ran out of time. From long load times, lazily inaccessible areas (ironic for a game that rewards exploring) that show us, there's more to the game they aren't giving us. The story loses stream real fast, the environments go from curious and eye catching, to literally baron and uneventful. You go from being guided and slightly pushed to find more, achieve more to combat the enemy, to a near completely open sandbox world with subtle direction.

The key here is, they are addressing the content issue. On Dec. 2nd, they've shown us a new bot is coming and more to the story/dungeons in a DLC (no release date yet). Whether it's free or paid maybe the big turning point of this game. If you haven't bought it yet, I would wait for the DLC to drop (if free) so you can experience a much more full game that I did.

For right now I give it a 6 out of 10. Hopefully the DLC is free and fills in the gaps that they should of filled at launch.

really bad game, I don't recommend, high loading times, a lot of problems with FPS in some areas, unbalanced enemies (especially in the final), the first hours are fun and can you catch you but then is always the same thing, nothing new

ReCore left me with wanting more. It has a compelling story and the gameplay is fairly decent but it never tends to excel in anything. Its not a bad game by any means and I had fun playing it. There are times in the game where you are walking for what seems like forever without doing anything.

Recore doesn't look that good. I feel that Recore has a cool concept, but the game itself hit the gaming industry during the wrong time period. This type of game probably would have been a hit on the OG Xbox/PS2.Borin.

This game went from a 9 to a ZERO in one night. There is a boss called Elder Alaram and he is definitely the hardest boss I've faced in 30+ years. Both myself, my son, and my daughter are all expert gamers, and we all took turns and tried to beat him for over FOUR HOURS. He cannot be beat. I've never been so pissed at a game in all my life. Interesting, very short game I thought the ideas where there but the execution left a bit to be desired, the campaign leaves a lot of loose ends that can be explored by the players so was a bit surprised when the credits started rolling. An overall ok small title nothing about it that says MUST PLAY the best thing about I got it late at a very very cheap price brand new.

At last I thought this was the break xbox one had been searching for. An interesting premise which looked fully AAA and legendary game creator keiji inafune at the helm, I thought there was no way Microsoft could mess this up, and finally after so long, xbox had found it's next biggest franchise.
Time moved on and no news came. But then E3 2016 came around and we were all anticipating the gameplay reveal; sadly thats where recore's story goes downhill. The game looked far from AAA and not very appealing. Some aspects were cool but we were left wanting more. The game got it's September release date and now the wait was on.
Recore launched to mediocre reviews and they are all warranted. Some moments of the game, like its fun dash move and platforming were surprisingly fun! But overall the game was very repetitious not only in gameplay but in it's world. Not to mention, to fully beat the game you were required to grind extensively for cores just to continue progressing. The characters can be fun and you enjoy having your robot companions fight along side you while also upgrading their armor and attacks.
The game ultimately falls flat but the potential is there. With more money and a larger scope recore could be an interesting franchise for xbox. Sadly with Microsofts recent trend, it's safe to say most ip from the xbox one era will never see the light of day again.

I think the game could be more fun. I decided not to finish it because of the roadblock that requires collecting plasmatic cores. I don't think this was a good implementation of exploring requirements. This is sad.

This game has very little story, lots of collectibles, platforming and very simplistic 3rd person shooting. To me it wasn't compelling in any way. That said, other than the 1 minute load times the game has few bugs and despite what idiot fanboy sites like Giant Bomb claims, there was no issue with the frame rate that I could detect.

I have honestly enjoyed the first few hours of the game, and don't see how anyone could give this game anything much lower than a solid 7. The traversal mechanics and exploration are cool and engaging, while the crafting and RPG elements add some depth and allow you to have some customization options for your bots. It reminds me of some old school platformers of the type we just don't get anymore, and for that reason it was worth a purchase for me to show my support for the genre. If you're a fan of games like Ratchet and Clank, Jak, and yes Metroid Prime give this a shot!

Try to buy new if possible to show Microsoft that trying something different than what's currently popular is something that gamers want. This game isn't perfect, but it's a very charming and fun game that is worth buying at a budget price.

This is a fun throwback to old-school platformers. While "Recore" has similarities to Sony's "Horizon Zero Dawn", it has a smaller scale and simpler design. The game plays like a cross between "Metroid Prime" and "Mega Man". At launch, this wasn't too good due to several issues including lengthy loading times. Having a friendly bot that you can customize through your journey was nice and I really enjoyed the combat system. My only gripe with this game while I enjoyed most of what it had to offer. The end sequence to me seemed a little drawn out and annoying at times as the gameplay loop was a little to repetitive for my tastes. Still if you are on the fence on playing this game I would say give it a try and see for yourself. I know that I am glad that I gave the game a chance! Expand

ReCore has a lot of strengths but also weaknesses. Great platforming hides an empty world and boring fights. The technical aspect of the game also does not help, occasionally even frustrates. [Issue #268]
