Nit-picky things aside, you end up with a game that plays easier than Madden, is downright hilarious, and won’t break the bank to purchase. It really could use a full set of teams (then maybe some fake ones) and players that can speak English, but it doesn’t take long for the game to remind you why you are playing in the first place – to kick the snot out of your opponent by any means necessary.

It's always a pleasure when the storyline is as intriguing as the gameplay. The Station is good at both in equal measure. The solutions to the sundry problems on The Station are just challenging enough—not too easy, not too hard.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory is a surprisingly deep and complicated game. Coming to the title as a franchise newcomer, I did have some problems assimilating into such an established universe. But underneath all of the anime trappings, I found a solid and enjoyable (if somewhat standard) RPG. I would recommend this game to Digimon fans, and to RPG fans looking for something a little weird.

Dynasty Warriors 9 is a fun and fresh take of the series with the familiar 1 vs 1000 action people expect but frame rate issues and no multiplayer component keep it from reaching it's full potential.

Kingdom Come will break you down. It will humble you. It will remind you that you’ve got a lot to learn. Whether that means making your fingers do more WASD gymnastics than you’ve ever done in a first-person game, or giving you the down and dirty as to the extended services provided in the bath house. It acknowledges what a thorough hell it is for women living under a complete patriarchy. It’ll also give you a feel for what it was like to walk through the streets of the Late Middle Ages, with its still-primitive technologies and its utter lack of plumbing.

Aegis Defenders is probably one of the tougher games I’ve played in recent memory, and that’s all thanks to the tower defense sections. Fans of that genre probably won’t have too many issues, but newcomers playing alone might find those sections pretty daunting until they master switching characters, learning the arena layouts, and know what traps to use when. If you have a friend to play co-op, you’ll likely have a much easier time. Still, it’s a pretty good game for GUTS Department’s first outing.

Railway Empire is a game that has a lot of promise, plenty of substance, and can be enjoyable to those who have 20ft train sets in their basements. However, most will find this game poorly designed, easily finished, and a tedious use of their time. Suddenly doing laundry sounds like a good idea.

Ruiner is a fun and fast twin stick shooter that ends all too soon and leaves you asking way too many questions.

Campaign needs some work and there are some bad bugs, but for the most part Sairento VR is a blast to play. Play with a friend and enjoy some great ninja action in VR.

Although not playing the original, The Escapists 2 is still an enjoyable game, especially if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands as it can be played in spurts with how the game and save mechanics work, each day lasting around fifteen minutes. However, the first prison you play through might take a while to escape if you’re not familiar with how the game works. Though the tutorial level does help out a bit, there were still some things I didn’t know about that would have made things a lot easier my first time playing.

Cold Iron is a game that requires players to think and act fast. While it is brief, and some might consider it too difficult, the game never feels unfair. The solutions to its unique puzzles are right in front of you, and your own wits and skill are the only things that stands between you and sweet, sweet victory. If you have had a hankering for a new gaming experience and don't mind getting your hide tanned a little bit, Cold Iron may just be your huckleberry.

Shadow of the Colossus is one for the books. Twelve years later, it's still a powerful, immutable, singular experience. A masterwork of the genre.

Out of Ammo stands out as an example of a VR port gone wrong. While the core gameplay is fun, the room-sized parameters of a HTC Vive game simply do not work well on a PS VR. Playing this game feels like standing in the parking lot of an amusement park with no ticket. You can see the fun just inside, but you can’t quite reach it.

Red Strings Club is more of a visual novel than a true adventure game, but its roughly four-hour story will give you some topics for your brain to chew on. The conversational gameplay, not to mention the drink mixing minigame, are a lot of fun.

Monster Hunter World is a fascinating and beautiful game. MMO fans, action fans, RPG fans, and open world fans will all find something to love. This is a game that invites players in and gradually reveals its glorious depths. The non-conventional multi-player aspect might take some time to get used to, but the core loop of hunting monsters and crafting gear is so strong and addictive that even the most skeptical players will be snared by Monster Hunter's hooks if they give it half a chance.

I Expect You to Die provides everything I want in VR room escape type of game. Objects are easy to manipulate, the puzzles don't require great leaps of non-intuitive logic to solve, and the experience itself is quite entertaining. It can look spendy at full price, but it's on Steam so it' just a matter of waiting for a sale.

This game in its current state shows a lot of promise. It is fun to play as is, and continued development and playtesting can only improve what limitations it does have.

Gorogoa is a relaxing, intriguing puzzle game that is a must-have addition to anyone’s game library. With unique art and unique gameplay, it’s a fresh new take on the genre, and its quality reflects the fact that it took years to perfect.

Embers of Mirrim has a fantastic core concept: controlling two characters simultaneously in a 2.5D platformer. Developer Creative Bytes have leveraged this concept against a deep variety of puzzles and challenges, and wrapped the whole thing in a majestic, understated graphical style.

Portal Knights on the Switch is a really enjoyable game outside of a few minor nitpicks. It can be a tad frustrating to have to constantly mine materials for new gear in the very early going. But much like Minecraft, a lot of the game is mining and exploring. If you take your time and enjoy every aspect of the game, you'll likely enjoy Portal Knights a lot more than if you just try to rush through each randomly generated island.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is easily the best turn-based RPG I have played in a long time. There are a bunch of different characters to customize; hundreds of monsters to battle; gobs of loot to find, and a reasonably good storyline that keeps the game moving along smoothly. Add to that a fair starting price (that is now a heck of a deal), and you have a 40-hour beast-bashing game to chase after.

It does have its issues, but Fallout 4 VR is one of my favorite VR titles so far. Make sure you have a very beefy computer to run it though.

Unless you’ve already bought this as part of a season pass, don’t waste your money on Curse of Osiris until Bungie actually changes direction, and I’m not talking about executing their proposed changes which painfully miss the mark yet again. The base game of Destiny 2 is a great shooter for 50-60 hours of solid content on your first play through of a redemptive story. But there is no endgame to keep going beyond that and there isn’t anything packaged into this DLC than enhances that initial experience. At this point, if you’re desperate for a looter/shooter then either fire up Destiny 1 again, watch Anthem videos on YouTube and hope for a brighter Q4 2018, or else maybe go give the Division a chance. It had a dumpster fire launch but can be had on the cheap now and I hear it’s become a very good game in its current state.

Okami HD is just as good now as it was when it launched in 2006, but now in beautiful 4K. There's no excuse not to own this game in some fashion now.

Resident Evil Revelations Collection bundles two of the better entries in the long-running survival horror series. The first game is hit-or-miss but the sequel is legitimately great, and the added portability and motion controls make the Switch port the definitive versions of these two games.

Steep: Road to the Olympics adds a ton of new content that will surely please fans of the base game. However, for those who weren’t able to get on board with the game’s free roaming aesthetic, there is little new that will change their minds. While the new Olympic story campaign offers some much-appreciated structure, it is over quickly, and players are left with an avalanche of content and no map directing them where to go next.

Pinball FX3 delivers a great pinball experience much like its predecessors. The touch screen controls with the Switch’s vertical orientation option work surprisingly well and are really responsive, though I personally prefer using the Joy-Cons for a more machine-like feel. As a free download and three free tables (one with the game and two as free DLC),as well as cross-play with PC and Xbox One players, you can’t really go wrong with this one.

Hyakki Castle probably wouldn’t be great for newbies to the dungeon-crawling scene, but if you already know you like the movement and combat system then it’s definitely something to try. It has its mechanical issues, and requires a lot of fiddling to figure out at first, but is executed creatively and diversely enough to still be engaging. It just needs a little extra touch to become the beacon that it wants to be.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will go down as one of the biggest screw ups in video game history. EA and DICE had the easiest job in the world and completely ruined it with the absolutely ridiculous and downright unacceptable progression system for multiplayer. Combine that with the incredibly boring, lazy, and cliche story campaign and you easily have the biggest disappointment of 2017.

Ninja Shodown is one of those games where the Multiplayer shines more than the single player experience. That’s not to say the game isn’t fun alone; it is, but there’s more mayhem to be had in multiplayer, especially Versus Mode. It’s hard to recommend for $15 if you don’t plan to play with friends, especially with no online play, but if you have some friends who want to kick up some ninja-style mayhem, you’ll want to check it out.

Shooty Fruity’s silly name belies the truth behind the title. nDreams has provided an experience that should be in the top tier of VR games. An excellent arcade shooter with a wide variety of missions and unlocks, Shooty Fruity elevates a simple concept with quality gunplay, a fun environment, and coat after coat of polish. As many shooters as there are in the VR space, very few are as flat out frantic and entertaining as this.

Conga Master Party is enjoyable, but kind of short if you’re playing solo as the Story Mode doesn’t take too long to complete once you know what you’re doing, and Endless Mode can only go so far. The multi-player modes on the other hand can make for some fun times among friends. Sadly it’s local multi-player only with no online play or AI opponents to compete against. It’s still fun either way, but more so with friends.

Earth Atlantis mixes exploration and scrolling shooter elements to create a challenging, if occasionally frustrating experience. The map-inspired visuals are the most unique and eye-catching aspect of this game, but under the hood it’s a good distraction that works best in portable mode when you have some time to kill.

While I celebrate the attempt, The First Class VR suffers from poor design choices, a user interface that will prove difficult for novices, and a disjointed and shallow presentation of one of the most significant technological developments of mankind.

There's not too much to not like about Injustice 2's port to the PC. A great fighting game along with plenty of features to keep you busy.

88 Heroes: 98 Heroes Edition is an enjoyable game with an interesting and unique premise, plus the multiple game modes do make for a lot of replayability. However, some of the heroes basically do nothing but jump and some of the ones that can attack have attacks that can easily backfire if you don’t know what you’re doing, making a lot of the game trial and error. Also if you get down to just one hero, get very used to him/her/it as you do have unlimited continues, but unless you get enough coins to revive someone, that’s all you have for the rest of the game.

Once you get your VR legs, then maybe you can grok the terrible controls, but then you have to see how awful this game looks. Yes it is technically impressive that Skyrim is in VR, but it's not the best way to experience it.

For a game about the simple act of killing zombies, Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package supplies players with an unbelievable variety of ways to get the job done. Some of the modes that might have felt slight as individual DLC purchases just become icing on the delicious cake of destruction that is Frank’s Big Package. Weirdness and chaos can take you pretty far when the core game play is as solid as it is here. There is a ton of fun content here that makes Frank’s Big Package well worth the purchase.

Reign: Her Majesty is a simple game mechanically, but don't let that fool you. Your decisions are not always easy, and the consequences for bad decisions are often fatal. Tread lightly, My Queen, tread lightly indeed!

Carnival Games VR: Alley Adventure is a great deal at its low price point. The fact that 2K is continuing to support a VR title is encouraging, and the new minigames combined with the enhancements to the base game make this a no-brainer for fans of the franchise. While Alley Adventure is not a game changer, it continues the base game’s strategy of throwing everything at the wall, and hoping that each player finds something that sticks. There are a few extraordinary experiences included, and even the “filler” minigames can be rewarding if players take the time to properly engage with them.

Doom VFR is a remarkable experience in almost every way. There are intense battles, terrifying enemies, and amazing settings to explore, all tied together with a combination of creepiness and wit. All of this is almost upended by one of the worst control schemes ever implemented on the (admittedly difficult) PlayStation Move controllers. Doom VFR is still well worth playing (in fact, it’s a blast), just go into the experience with the understanding that no matter which controller you decide to use, you won’t be 100% satisfied.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is a tried-and-true game for young kids everywhere who like the Marvel universe. There is a bit too much frustration with some parts of the game and the fighting can be very ho-hum for anyone out of diapers. That said, the humor, collection of heroes, length of the game, and overall quality makes this a no-brainer for kids everywhere. Just be ready to help 'em out.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a great game to finish off the Switch's stellar first year, and offers a massive adventure that will scratch the itch felt by both MMO and JRPG fans.

Abstraction Games’ 8-Bit Adventure Anthology: Volume I is a collection of three Mac and NES point-and-click adventure titles developed in the mid-80s by ICOM Simulations. The collection delivers a window back to the time when games refused to explain themselves. These games don’t care if you like them, don’t respect your feelings, and cannot be bothered with your tears of frustration. Only the toughest of the tough need apply.

GUTS is gory, messy, bloody, violent, and... did I say gory yet? Well, it's gory enough to say it twice. Beyond that, GUTS is an approachable yet mildly complex fighting game that will appeal to people just trying out a fighting game for the first time, or experienced fighters looking for a change of pace.

It had been a while since I last played a Raiden game and Raiden V: Director’s Cut was pretty enjoyable after reacquainting myself with the series, my eyesight issues aside. The fact you can beat the game on any difficulty can seem a tad off putting, but this is actually a good concept for newer players so they can experience the story then increase the difficulty when they start to improve so they can get a better ending. That combined with the boss challenges give quite a bit of replayability to the game and being able to take things a stage at a time makes it great to play in short bursts. Overall a pretty good entry for the series.

With a terribly below mediocre campaign, an average zombies mode, and an excellent multiplayer option, Call of Duty: WWII manages to hit all the marks. But not in the way that it should. I had high hopes, and was surprised that the real gem I found was not the one I was originally hoping to. It’s not great, it’s not good, it’s okay.

High Hell is ample demonstration that good and simple game play still has a place in world of multi-gigabyte monsters with eight-figure (or higher) development and marketing budgets. It's perfect for those situations when you just want to sit down and shoot things for a few minutes without having to deal with even an iota of realism. After all, they're called "games" for a reason.

This game doesn't feel like the next game in a long running series. This feels like a brand new game that exists only to promote the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Skyrim on Switch is the same excellent game it’s always been. It doesn’t support mods but the fact that such a massive, engrossing game is now portable is justification alone for another purchase.

Guns'n'Stories: Bulletproof VR is a strong entry in the VR wave shooter genre. It's easy to play at lower difficulty levels, but challenging enough at the higher levels to support continuing replayability. Even in early access, it's one you ought to pick up.

Doom on Nintendo Switch is visually pared back compared to other versions, but it’s still fast, addictive and gorgeous. Seeing it run on a portable is truly a sight to behold. Nintendo fans should not pass this one up.

Need For Speed : Payback is a game that everyone hoped might put the series back into the limelight of seat-of-the-pants racing. Instead, the game has middle-of-the-pack graphics, weak storyline, emotionless driving and a poor upgrade system. This game is definitely a car in full-throttle reverse instead of speeding off in the right direction.

Axiom Verge was great the first time I played it on Steam, the second time on the Wii U, and now the third time on the Switch. If you don’t mind some major backtracking at times going from one end of Sudra to the other, you’ll find a great Metroid-inspired game with an interesting storyline, a multitude of weapons to choose from to fit your playstyle, and just an overall fun experience.

In what is easily one of the best expansions of the year, Guerrilla Games gave us an interesting new story arc, some great new characters, and most importantly a reason to revisit a game that was probably shelved months ago for most gamers because there is literally too much good stuff this year.

Yes, it's vulgar, it's crude, and it's often profane. Be that as it may, Mutant Football League is probably the best football game available on the PC today.

WWE 2K18 is another decent entry in the long running games franchise. But as I said last year, it's sad that these games are just decent because they can be and should be great.

Perfect for anyone that remembers playing the original in the previous century or folks looking to visit gaming of the past, Auroch Digital's OGRE is a faithful re-engineering of a venerable classic. You get all of the strategy and tactical action of the original absent the bookkeeping, lost game pieces, and requirement of having friends actually in your house to play.

While it's still in early days, Heliborne is already well polished and provides a fantastic mix of tactical airborne helicopter and strategic decision making in a very affordable package. This one is well worth giving a try!

Another great indie title makes its way to Switch where it’s a perfect fit. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is wonderful in both multiplayer and played solo. It might take some time to get your friends acclimated to its synergistic brand of gameplay, but the sense of teamwork you get from a few well-played levels just can’t be found anywhere else.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus follows up on its predecessor with a bang. With a dynamic protagonist and amazing characters, this is an entry in the foundation of what modern shooters, if not narrative games in general, can be. The mechanics are as stellar as the guns are loud, and it'll leave the player itching for more even when it's over.

The Evil Within 2 get so much right that it's predecessor got wrong, and it's actually a great game on top of that. The initial chapters of the game start off slow, but then once things get rolling, this game is really hard to put down.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is great for veterans and tough for newcomers, but a joy to play for either party once you get a hang of the mechanics. It gets tedious at times, and there are missed opportunities here and there, but the Nemesis System that was a beacon of success in the first game has come back bigger and better than ever. It’s definitely a return to Middle-earth that is worth the play, and an homage to Tolkien’s works that everyone can appreciate.

Origins was worth taking the year off. Egypt will be hard to top as a location. The series' dry, ironic, corporate sense of humor is still dull. But nobody can beat Assassin’s Creed’s architectural history lessons, even if you’re still just stabbing folks and jumping out the window while you’re sightseeing the entire timeline.

Pinball FX3 is a game that makes no excuses for being a tried-and-true game with the standard jackpot fix that arcade junkies need. The “free-ness” wears off quickly and there will be trepidation for spending “X” amounts of money on multiple boards, but the challenges and rivalries will earn a bunch of those coins back. My take on Pinball FX3 is to wait for the prices to plummet on the extra boards. That infusion of 30 boards or more will make the game shine… like the quarters you once put into the machines.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Game is a terrific contribution to the LEGO games playlist. It's a fun experience without needing to be anything else. It can err on the side of triviality at times, but that's the cost of making a game like this.

With its excellent focus on online multiplayer supported with some innovative fair-play features and related social features, Gran Turismo Sport is a great choice for drivers focused on those aspects. For offline players and those that don't want to grind to gain access to an extensive collection of cars and tracks, though, there are better alternatives.

Minecraft New 3DS Edition isn’t a bad game at all—at its core it’s still the same brilliantly addictive creativity sandbox. That said, its complete lack of multiplayer and the availability of the vastly superior Nintendo Switch version for the same price unfortunately makes Minecraft on 3DS functionally obsolete.

It's pure fan service, and the story is absolute nonsense, but it's the most fun I have had playing an Omega Force Musou game in a long time. Fans of this long-running series of games will love this, but it won't do much to make anyone looking in give the series a chance.

While not a huge fan of Dragon Ball in general, I can say that I’m a fan of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Switch. It does have its flaws. Namely with the camera and some of the training. Plus the combat can get repetitive as you mash out the same combos, at least in the early going. But I can definitely say that I found a Dragon Ball game that I can enjoy coming back to from time to time.

Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions is still a fantastic RPG fourteen years later. The Bowser’s Minions side story is an enjoyable, if occasionally tedious, diversion. But the main quest is better than ever with the same addictive combat, laugh-out-loud story, and a few modern polishes to the gameplay.

Dishonored: Death of The Outsider is a great follow up to Dishonored 2. It offers a really rich experience with a fair amount of replay value—which is really rare in add-on content these days.

Empyre: LordS of the Sea Gates offers an innovative style of gameplay to liven up the RPG nature of the game. The writing is well above average and does a great job of setting the appropriate tone and, at times, is quite witty. Combat is approachable in the early stages, but becomes increasingly difficult as the game progresses.

A good entry in the series for those who skipped a year. Virtual currency is pushed everywhere. The Neighborhood is OK. Basketball action is fun and exciting.

With a particle-heavy 8-bit paintbrush, Songbringer is a glam metal Zelda. Songbringer doesn't try to finish what Hyper Light Drifter started; Songbringer has heart of its own. It's easy to like but hard to love.

I think for most of the hardcore Destiny 1 players, this is simply not the game we were expecting. This one is built for the casuals. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I played more D1 over the past two years than probably all other games combined, but Destiny 2 is just going to be another game in my library. It won't consume me, but I will enjoy it every time I load it up. I still maintain that Destiny provides the best gunplay of an FPS year in and year out, but where Destiny 1 was a game to be loved, despite its flaws; Destiny 2 is a game to be enjoyed, even with all its triumphs.

After 25+ hours of gameplay, I can honestly say Forza 7 is outstanding. There is no sim that is easier to use (not Project Cars 2), has more vehicles (not Gran Tourismo’s 180), is more realistic (sorry Need For Speed), or better variety (not F1 – same car most of game), than Forza 7. There are better dirt track games, and NASCAR games, and car-sports games, but no racing sim has as much to offer as this one does. This is the best car sim of 2017… and potentially ever.

Dusk has the backwoods setting of Blood and Redneck Rampage, the forbidding atmosphere and murky palette of Quake, the tight, sharp action of Doom, and the subtle sense of place and interactivity of Duke Nukem 3D. Essentially, Dusk is a retro shooter fan’s dream come true.

Knack 2 is a bloated experience that no one asked for. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan can be credited with improving over the first game, but that's not saying much.

Everspace is one of the best space combat games on the market today. It's fun, beautiful, and a blast to play.

Necrosphere shows that a simple game can be complex when it needs to be without being overly difficult, for the most part. The later areas of the game do require a near mastery of the controls. But overall, Necrosphere is enjoyable, and for a budget-minded Metroidvania, it’s definitely worth a look.

A revamped manager career mode and the second chapter of The Journey are both wonderful experiences, and while some aspects of gameplay have been addressed such as crossing and more tactical runs, there are still some glaring problems that weren't addressed. The game is still enjoyable, but this franchise can't rest on its laurels anymore.

With all of the trailers, experts, and attention to detail, I expected Project Cars 2 to take the trophy as racing sim of the year. It is definitely not. What you DO get is a game that challenges you to a frustrating degree and does so with beautiful precision. It sadly also takes a bunch of the fun out of it too.

MercurySteam have pulled Samus from the jaws of death and delivered one of the best games in the series. Samus Returns perfects and reimagines the gameplay of 2D Metroid games and delivers one of the best titles on the 3DS. Every self-respecting Nintendo fan should own Metroid: Samus Returns.

FORM was an enjoyable and mildly challenging romp through some beautifully crafted spaces populated with puzzles that achieved a nice balance between being interesting without being either too easy or frustratingly difficult. Sadly, I was ready for more than it had to give.

The Pillars of the Earth has its mechanical flaws, and it doesn’t translate seamlessly from medium to medium due to technological constraints, but that aside it’s a truly gorgeous experience. The art, music, and voice acting all come together as one to blend this story into one that transcends the pages upon which it was originally written, making it a very unique and interesting experience.

Archangel is a great example of what VR is all about. The all-encompassing environment removes all worldly distractions and enhances game action to a fever pitch. Movements feel fluid and natural, and the periodic introduction of new or upgraded weapons follows the increase in difficulty well. The story aspects are unobtrusive yet satisfying.

As someone who is terrible at the main series, I really enjoyed Monster Hunter Stories, even if it is a bit easy early on. The more traditional RPG-style of gameplay is a radical departure from what the core games are like, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. If you can put aside the fact that this plays rather differently than the past games, you’ll find an enjoyable experience for new and returning fans alike.

Sonic Mania is a franchise’s identity found. It’s simple, it’s straightforward, it’s what Sonic should be. The developers have gone back to the drawing board and have given new life to a franchise hat was on its last legs just a few years ago. This may be new life into the series, and here’s hoping that it continues to be so.

When I first started up Killing Floor 2 I had no idea what to expect. The game looked like a very grim, zombie-killing game. What it actually was - a ridiculously impressive and immersive strategy game… that was very grim. There are a few technicalities, but overall there is nothing out there that gives you such a feeling of fight-or-flight – while at the same time – giving you a giant adrenaline rush from decimating mass amounts of baddies. And I can tell you after some 25 hours… it doesn’t go away.

Galaxy of Pen and Paper hearkens back to a more manual style of game play that has aged well, but requires a more patient set of players than most games today. The writing is imaginative, and it seems a good introduction to the genre, but the graphics may be off-putting to those that enjoy more realistic renderings.

Absolver is one of the top games of the year. While its level design can use some work, its combat system should be studied and worshiped by anyone trying to make a fighting game.

Namco Museum is a nice way to bring so classic arcade titles to the Switch, but they’re mostly not anything we haven’t seen on past platforms. Playing some classics like Pac-Man, Galaga ’88, and Rolling Thunder on the go is a nice touch and is probably one of the main reasons to get this version of the game. However, with only eleven games (ten not counting Pac-Man Vs.), and a few of those are pretty much staples for Namco collections, a few more additions would have been nice to see, especially games we rarely get on compilations.

With tight controls and an enjoyable way to get around large areas, Accel World vs. Sword Art Online features memorable aerial combat. However, story progression can drag to a halt at times. Though perfect for fans of either series, this may not be the action RPG that anyone else asked for.

What Remains of Edith Finch knows its niche from the beginning and rarely strays, resulting in a cohesive experience that I was never jolted out of. It elicits the strangest mixture of emotions, and its different modes of storytelling are second to none. The controls don’t translate seamlessly from PC to Xbox One, but you don’t play this game for the controls; you play for the story, and the story is gripping.

Nidhogg 2 is a surprisingly short game, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a lot of fun. While the Arcade Mode is rather short at eleven stages, the local and online multiplayer options will keep fans coming back. If you were a fan of the original game you’ll likely enjoy this game as it’s pretty much more of the same but with some new and enjoyable additions.

Even with its issues, Agents of Mayhem is still a fun experience that anyone who is a fan of hero shooters or the previous Saints Row titles will be able to enjoy. Shooting hoards of Legion scum won't get old any time soon.
