It calls itself (a) contemporary adventure game about debt, family, and the truth about honesty, but this undersells the bleakness within significantly. It’s dark. It’s angry. It’s self-loathing. It’s nihilistic. It’s built on the premise that everyone lies, all the time, and it uses this as a foundation for critiquing all of modern-day capitalism. Needless to say, literally none of it resonated with me.

At first glance, with it's twisting, gravity-defying tracks and fluorescent visuals, XGRA might remind you of the recent "F-Zero GX." Upon further inspection it's actually slower, sometimes much slower, less colorful and a lot less interesting.

Final Fantasy 2 Anniversary is a grand game to pick up if you're intent on playing it in an updated format made solely for the PSP, but not a good enough value to warrant purchasing it on curiosity or the nostalgic magnetism that draws gamers to remakes in the first place.

That "been there, done that" feeling comes more often than not, whether it's the cheesy bond-like story line and action sequences, the 'burnout' like stunt scenes, or simply the fact that this doesn't really feel like Spy Hunter at all, with the exception of a few race points.

It gives me a warm fuzzy to go back and play games like these, but like any other classic games, it just can't hold my attention.

There’s a massive gulf between “momentarily fun free mobile game” and “Switch game that costs $35,” and you can be certain that Into the Dead 2 doesn’t come anywhere near crossing the yawning chasm. I hate to reduce the game’s worth to how much it costs, but when the game gives you so little for such a high price (relative to free), it’s impossible to see anything other than the downsides.

Game play can be summed up in one word…repetitive.

Pick it up, I guess, if you have love of this solitaire variation and unlimited DLC funds, but otherwise, don't even bother.

All together, Obscure: The Aftermath is a pretty bland survival horror experience.

Strangely enough, the last game I played from Lightwood Games was also a logic-based puzzle game – though in that case, my complaint was that the game was too easy, and I finished all the puzzles the game had to offer in less than a hour. I certainly didn’t finish Word Web by POWGI in less than a hour – but finishing the puzzles dragged on so much, it made me want to quit the game and give it up after just a few of its 120 puzzles. Hopefully next time out, Lightwood can try a word game that’s not also a logic game, because the results so far aren’t great.

Small Brawl could function as a gateway for younger kids interested in the series, but are not quite ready to tackle the difficulty of "Twisted Metal: Black."

Even if the voice acting sucks, even if the puzzles are blatantly obvious, I think there's a massive gulf between bad and unspeakably terrible. In fact, for the simple reason the game is completely playable, you could possibly even argue that Dying: Reborn (non-PSVR) edition is profoundly mediocre. That's not enough to make it worth checking out by any means, but it also means that the game doesn't really deserve the title of "Worst Game of 2017" quite yet.

Almost every aspect of Lion King is simply acceptable. As a result, Lion King doesn’t suffer from any glaring flaws but it also doesn’t give you a terribly compelling reason to buy the game.

A decent digital recreation of the show, with mediocre story and adventure gameplay, counterbalanced by oodles of Lost fan-service.

A competent shooter, but just barely. The ideas behind the cover system and the bullet curve are certainly solid, but the rest of the game just doesn't hold up that well.

In absolute terms, R.B.I. Baseball 2017 doesn't come anywhere close to looking as nice as MLB The Show 17, even when you play The Show in retro mode. This should come as no surprise, since R.B.I. Baseball doesn't hold a candle to The Show in any other respect, either. This year, however, marks the first time since its return that the franchise isn't a total embarrassment, either. Its improvements are modest — but when you've reached the depths that R.B.I. Baseball 2017's predecessors have, modest practically constitutes a miracle.

And that, ultimately, is why Rocketbirds 2: Evolution doesn't come anywhere close to the heights its predecessor reached. It may have some of the same trappings, but when you get down to its core, it's nowhere near as fun.

Just like some people enjoyed "DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball" and "BMX XXX," some people will enjoy BloodRayne. Those people could have played it last year on any of the current consoles and for a lot less than what it requires from a PC.

All in all, ModNation Racers: Road Trip just feels unfinished. From the issues with the Vita capable options, to the lack of visual flare, this Road Trip has more hiccups than a Griswold family Vacation, but just like those movies, it may still be fun to visit now and again.

It’s really unfortunate, because I feel like Epistory has a lot of potential to be great. Its papercraft world is gorgeous, and the voiceover narration has a lot of charm. But no matter how good those things may be — and how good this game probably is when you play it on PC — the fact of the matter is that Epistory is a lousy fit for the Switch.

There's simply not enough good content here to recommend a purchase at $30. You'd be much better off putting that money toward Uncharted, Wipeout, Hot Shots Golf, or Super Stardust Delta. Buy with caution.

If it had been given the proper treatment, budget, and amount of time, Kane & Lynch would have easily been an A-/90% game. As it was released, it feels like a preview build that somehow hit retail shelves.

The Wii game was disappointing at best. The controls aren't problematic, which is the best thing I can say and something that should be expected coming from High Voltage, but everything else about the game just screams quick movie cash-in.

I have not given up on Dark Alliance, and I hope they continue to improve and change the game into something great. With some variety, the combat could get better. With some balancing changes or NPC companions, solo play could become viable and fun. Some adjustments to the gear drops and mechanics could deepen that system and improve upon what they started with. I was left frustrated and disappointed with Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, but I will keep coming back to see how it grows in the coming months, and hope to be able to love it in the future.

But the other aspects – animation, dialogue, acting, environments, and fighting – are too poorly produced and out of place to ignore.
