  1. Unfortunately the execution just wasn't quite there.
  2. I would love to see another installment with this alternating on-foot/on and off-road style - but it would have to balance things out better between the two styles, and feature a lot of enhancements to the on-foot areas. As it is, players are left with a very exciting driving game and a fairly lifeless 3D adventure game.

The true strength of Nowhere to Run is built into its pick-up-and-play nature. It gets straight to the action, wasting no time indulging in slow-motion cinematic cut-scenes during battle sequences.
  4. 50
Its control system is weak, the gameplay mechanics are basic and repetitive and The Rock is woefully underused.
  5. With more time and polish, Nowhere to Run could have shown that Spy Hunter can move beyond the car, but for now, The Interceptor is still the more interesting main character.
  6. That "been there, done that" feeling comes more often than not, whether it's the cheesy bond-like story line and action sequences, the 'burnout' like stunt scenes, or simply the fact that this doesn't really feel like Spy Hunter at all, with the exception of a few race points.

Please don't do any more games like this, The Rock. You deserve better. [Nov. 2006, p.130]

A severely underrated gem. I wanted badly to just play this and get rid of it but the more I play it the more I realize this game cannotA severely underrated gem. I wanted badly to just play this and get rid of it but the more I play it the more I realize this game cannot depart my game library even though it is nearly three gaming generations old. The AI, yes, absolutely embarrassing and laughable but they do their job well with constant excitement throughout the game. There are a few issues with control but they aren't broken, just maybe a little bit unpolished. And I did run into a few minor bugs.....so how on earth am I giving this an 8/10, a must own or play rating? For me you get a lot of value in this title especially at today's price. The game is just plain fun and exciting throughout and I disagree that this game strayed too far from the spyhunter theme. The game starts off easy and slow but by about chapter four the game really picks up. Gameplay is a mix of car missions and third person shooter. I think both types of gameplay really blend the spyhunter theme well. About midgame you can unlock an arcade version of the game. I think this arcade version is better than the original spyhunter arcade game which was a huge hit so it's really hard for me to buy into the complaints this game received. This title also contains some bonus gameplay and you can start playing it as you unlock it. And you can unlock more advanced weapons in the game for further longevity. If you are into retro gaming I would highly recommend you check this game out. I have to think at the time it was released it was overlooked with the xbox 360 and ps3 just about to be launched. It doesn't have the best start but once you get to chapter four I think you will be fine from then on and like the game. As I mentioned the game has terrible AI but they are cheesy and enjoyable because of it. The action is decent throughout and I like the immersion. Some things this game did like having your weapon fall out of your hands if you get hit by melee or bomb make sense and in this sense I feel this immersion exceeds many current generation games. I feel the game is a decent depiction of the era in which it was made. All the cliches and feel are there and to be honest the execution isn't really bad, not to the point it got the scores it did. I'm not gonna lie, the game has issues but when you sum up everything I find this game to be a keeper none the less. Unlocking the arcade game alone is worth the games current price. Expand
