I had fun playing Minecraft Legends, but there are some aspects of the game that could be improved. The overworld is really large and really gorgeous in a Minecraft voxel kind of way, but it’s largely empty of anything more interesting than resources. I wish there was more to discover on long rides into the wilderness, but once I had reached all of the main locations I pretty much relied exclusively on fast travel. The assaults on the Piglin bases are fun, but as you make your way further into the campaign some of the sieges turn into grind fests. It would help if the siege weapons worked automatically, but you have to man them and manually aim their attacks – and then they have a cooldown period. Trying to monitor Piglins attacks while you’re aligning distant shots on structures, and then the need to check to see when the weapons are ready again is a constant distraction. Your enjoyment of Legends will depend a bit on how you enjoy playing Minecraft, as well as where on the RTS spectrum from noob to leet you fall. As for me, I’ve played a lot of Minecraft in many different ways and RTS games since the original StarCraft, and I found myself enjoying Legends.

Prey Mooncrash is a lot of fun for those that like challenging gameplay where you are limited in resources and have to think a bunch on the fly with limited time, but the DLC is not for everybody. If you're the type of player that likes to take your time, the timer will likely drive you nuts and there is no way to turn it off. Either way, Mooncrash offers a lot of replay value in its ever-changing maps and it's an overall very fun DLC to mess around with.

For a game that had such a long development cycle, this game feels like it made use of all that time. Dambuster really knocked it out of the park with this sequel. If you’re a fan of Dead Island, you’ll easily enjoy what this game has to offer. It may have not have the parkour that Dying Light has in it, but it definitely beats Dying Light in its zombie-slaying gameplay. I had a great time with this game and I’m still looking forward to playing through the game with other characters. Dead Island 2 truly delivers!

f you're a fan of science fiction stories, such as the Deus Ex games, you'll most likely find something to like in State of Mind. It's got some nice twists and surprises once it starts moving along at a good pace. The number of characters you eventually play as and the learning of some good information about each of their lives helps the story out a good bit. Also, the game's style by itself was enough to draw me into it from the get-go.

Silent Hill f is beautifully grotesque and fresh. The game is a change that the series needed. It doesn’t have the same rules as the Team Silent games, but it has familiar elements that those game had such as metaphorical meaning. I’m very pleased with the overall progression that Silent Hill f has to offer for the franchise. Just like Team Silent games, you start out not really knowing what is going on and then start to pick up on things as the story progresses. If you’re a fan of the Team Silent games, be sure to give Silent Hill f a try. The game is a big change for the series, but it still has the Silent Hill elements at its core.

Call of the Sea is an enjoyable adventure. The story and setting are refreshingly different from what you’ll find in other games this season, and the puzzles are challenging enough to require some thought but not so much so to be frustrating. Even though the game is inspired by old-school horror titles, it is still very much its own thing. The game has a lot of its own ideas and feels unique even with its similarities. If you’re an old-school survival horror fan, you need to buy Tormented Souls. This game was created exclusively with you in mind. With the game’s value price, it’s quite amazing the amount of content in the game. If only this game had more replay value to it, it would be a super solid experience. Even without that, it’s a very fun tread through the type of survival horrors that we used to enjoy back when the genre was still young.

Overall, Cris Tales is a great turn-based RPG for fans of turn-based style gameplay. It’s an impressive piece of work from an indie company and one that I think many will enjoy. The load screens in the game are annoying, but it’s just about the only flaw that I can find since the rest of the game is so good. If you are an Attack on Titan fan, you should definitely check out Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle. If you never got the second game, you’ll get the most out of the full release. For those that already have Attack on Titan 2, the extra DLC is definitely worthwhile. The DLC itself is equal to the content of the first game, so it’s more than worth it. It’s very smart to release the next season of Attack on Titan in DLC form, since the second game really struggled with new content and the DLC adds to that rather than taking us through the full story again to get to the new plot points. If you don’t like the Attack on Titan games, this game will not change your mind since it is basically more of the same, but for those that did enjoy the past games, you will get the most out of this release.

Overall, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin is a very solid beat’em up. The only true flaw that I find is that, even with all the variety, the game can still get repetitive at times. It can feel a bit overwhelming once you start to unlock the modifier attacks because of all the different buttons you’ll be pressing, but there are combinations that seem to be the “go to” combinations for most battles – mainly hard-hitting armor breaking attacks. I definitely recommend this game to fans of beat’em ups or anyone that enjoys games that take place in ancient China (Dynasty Warriors fans!).

The Gardens Between's aesthetics make for a relaxing and enjoyable experience, albeit a rather short one. You can complete the game within two hours, and once you do there's not really any reason to go back and play it again. If the game were longer and the puzzles more challenging towards the end, it would be easy to recommend the game to puzzle game fans. If you're OK with the short length and approach the game as something that you'll enjoy a quiet evening playing and then move on, you'll probably enjoy the experience.

Overall, the pace of the game is good and the story is compelling. I really connected with Lucy and was determined to help her solve the mystery of the forest, although towards the end I had a pretty good idea of where it was going. The rotating tile puzzle was a bit frustrating – it felt like a master level puzzle that should have been a single encounter near the end of the game and not something that had to be returned to throughout it. Also, the last part of the game drags on a bit, featuring a large, multi-location puzzle with a simple mechanic that requires a lot of backtracking and a mid-puzzle requirement that’s not at all obvious and needs to be found through trial-and-error. Also, there are four possible endings to the game, but the ending that you’ll see will be based entirely on which song you choose to sing during the game’s final interaction. Each ending will give you enough to go on so that the story reaches a conclusion and leaves some questions open-ended for you to ponder later – enough is left answered to leave room for a sequel, though. Unfortunately, the only way to see the other endings is to play through the game again.

Really, though, at $5.99, I can ignore the game's problems and enjoy it for what it is: a unique idea with some fun "bullet hell" action and a heavy dose of Japanese flair. It isn't the prettiest or the longest game, but I had fun with Acceleration of Suguri: X Edition.
