  1. With the Japanese dialog, the stunning visuals and the solid turn-based combat system it's the first game in a long time that sates my appetite for the old school RPG.

From Software's older RPGs were barely playable, but this one was one of my favorite RPGs of the year. The eye candy is the game's defining feature, but it doesn't attempt to stand on that aspect alone.
  3. I also found it strange that wherever Atsuma went there was always a cloud of dust at his feet. Not sure why this bothered me, but it did.
  4. With up to 50 hours of gameplay and the option of having rather straightfoward online battles, you’ll at least get your money’s worth; we’re just not sure that most Xbox 360 gamers have refined enough tastes to fully appreciate it.
  5. I wasn’t impressed much by the game’s visuals. They don’t seem to offer much beyond any other game, unless you like drab pre-rendered backgrounds and some remarkably not-stunning character designs.
  6. 65
The decidedly traditional approach that permeates every part of the game makes the decision to develop this as a "new-gen" game all the more odd, to say the very least.

A fundamentally flawed and boring RPG, Enchanted Arms might be steeped in Japanese charm but without any sense of fun or involvement, there's no reason to buy this. [Issue # 11, p.84]

Just went back and played this again in 2023. Fantastic rpg that holds up in every way. From software just can’t make a bad game apparently

The only flaw i found was that the random battles can get a bit tedious, but thats a flaw of having random battles altogehter, and is a flaw in any game that uses the random battle system. Overall, if you love JRPG's then you'll probably really enjoy this, if you don't enjoy JRPG's then chances are you won't enjoy it. Expand

The graphics were great, the story was good, the characters were also good. I enjoyed pretty much all aspects of the game. I enjoyed collecting the side golems as well. I wish more people got to experience it for themselves. There wasn't much commercial for it, it's not a very well known game. I wish they made more because honestly it had a lot of potential. It was on the border of being great, I give it a 7/10. I decided to grab this on ps3 and will play it on there for the first time soon:) Expand

A decent JRPG that really doesn't add anything new to the genre. But it isn't bad either. Actually, I rather enjoyed it for what it was: AA decent JRPG that really doesn't add anything new to the genre. But it isn't bad either. Actually, I rather enjoyed it for what it was: A generic JRPG. Some decent voice acting (as far as JRPGs are concerned.) Some good visuals and animations. The combat mechanic is fun but still feels dated and stale. Generic, but lovable, characters that are rather well designed. A predictable, but enjoyable, plot. Overall: A pretty good JRPG that seems too scared to do anything new, relying on tried and tested methods of the past. Relying primarily on nostalgic fans to be interested. As I am a big JRPG fan, I will say that I liked it and didn't mind its approach style, just, I found it was a shame since clearly the game could have been much, much more. Expand

Having payed good money for the time I had with this game, i forced myself to be subjected to fighting alongside characters like this man who thinks that he is a beautiful girl...That just doesn't say "awesome" to me. The gameplay is poor quality and I ended up boxing it and returning it several days early after getting maybe 10 hours in. This "game" would only be attractive to someone obsessed with JRPGs to the point that they do not mind poor quality. Expand
