    Gestalt is finally released, but unfortunately, it only meets the bare minimum to be considered a metroidvania. Platforming is very basic and both the combat and enemy behavior feels dated and perfunctory.

    he sim racing genre is not only fiercely competitive but also quite niche. As such, RENNSPORT’s release is somewhat perplexing, as it clearly lacks content, with an alarmingly small selection of cars and tracks, while its physics also leave a lot to be desired.

    King’s Bounty II attempts to mix together two different genres, but the outcome does not satisfy. Despite the somehow satisfactory battle system, it is evident that the game needed to follow a different approach during its development. What we have now is a mediocre title that leaves much to be desired.

    Aliens: Fireteam Elite reminds us of the mostly forgotten genre of movie tie-ins (even though this is simply a franchise tie-in occasion). It’s one of those games that mostly tries to capitalize on the power of its title, but at the same time it’s highly derivative in almost all of its aspects.

    Shadow of War is an inconsistent mess of repetitive gameplay, really bad implemented fighting system, gameplay exploits and an indifferent and lacking respect for the original material story. The presentation is reminiscent of the 360 era and hastiness is a common feature for every aspect of the game.

    The new Daymare game may be an actual step up from its predecessor although that doesn't say much, since it goes from abysmal to favorably mediocre. However, the developers at least managed to create a survival horror that could be defined as "guilty pleasure".

    In the genre of top-down action games there are far more competent choices. Ruiner seems to be over the top hard just for the sake of being hard, neglecting in the process to incorporate satisfying melee or shooting gameplay. Moreover, it may have the looks, thanks to the use of Unreal Engine 4, but its factory focused environments are extremely tiresome.

    The whole existence of Metal Gear Survive closely resembles this of the Wanderers – the game’s zombies. With the story, characters and wit ripped out completely off it’s body, what remains is a lifeless yet standing shell of Metal Gear Solid V. The decent (and borrowed) survival mechanics barely keep this husk walking around aimlessly with no purpose whatsoever. Survive may not be a bad survival game, but the merciless grind required and lack of respect for gamers’ time are inexcusable.

    The only real positive that can be said about The Spirit of the Samurai is its beautiful, stop-motion-inspired visuals. By the time the game ends, one can’t help but feel the studio might be better suited developing an animation rather than a video game, as the experience is marred by one-note combat and frustrating platforming segments.

    It may be a step forward for the series, but this latest entry still carries significant drawbacks. Its strongest asset is its strange, atmospheric tone but that alone can't alleviate the overly simplistic puzzles or the utterly disjointed story.

    It is mind boggling how the team behind such a gem like the Book of Unwritten Tales, could take a great series like Black Mirror and release such a poorly designed game. Clunky controls, poor animation, short length, frustratingly many loading screens and an overall lack of polish make us wish the Black Mirror had remained buried underground were it belonged.

    Panzer Paladin unfortunately fails to provide anything memorable in its effort to recreate an 8-bit experience. It is certainly playable and maybe enjoyable to some extent, but there is no distinguishing feature or any part in which it excels in order to compete with much more accomplished indie productions.

    As far as transitions from 2D to 3D go, the new Super Meat Boy proves that this is not inherently an improvement. Although there is a decent variety of levels, its serious lack of depth perception results in gameplay where you struggle more with the controls than with the level design itself. The bland visuals don’t help either.

    They Always Run gives the impression of a proof of concept that didn’t have the time or resources to fully materialize in a complete and finalized game. As it stands the combat is very static and devoid of energy, with just glimpses of a more exciting choreography, the story comes extremely abruptly to a (non) finale, and the audio is entirely lackluster.
