Sep 4, 2023Ultimately, with Daymare 1994 Invader Studios has taken a step forward, treasuring the experience accumulated during the development of the progenitor of the series. Some perplexities remain relating to the script, which starts from solid foundations and then gets lost in the final stages, as well as some ingenuity in the gameplay formula, which in any case has managed to demonstrate the validity of the Frost Grip on several occasions. With a greater variety of threats and instruments of death, this visually striking nightmare journey could have gone even further: however the Roman team has shown us his talent, once again.

Aug 30, 2023Daymare 1994: Sandcastle is a better game than Daymare: 1998, but fails to become one of the iconic survival horrors of the modern era.

Oct 5, 2023Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is an overall improvement compared to the previous game in the series but is still somewhat of a sidegrade. Some aspects of the game are great but others are still lacking. Overall, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is a step in the right direction for Invader Studios, and I can't wait to see what they decide to do with their next project.

Sep 4, 2023Daymare 1994: Sandcastle varies significantly depending on the control peripheral used: with a controller, combat becomes frustrating to an extreme degree, whereas with a mouse and keyboard, it becomes a non-essential but still functional and enjoyable experience.

Sep 20, 2023Daymare 1994: Sandcastle is a decent second title in the series which makes some improvements but still struggles to come together as an complete experience. The basic combat and movement controls lack the refinement of the titles from which it takes inspiration. Taken alongside a story that goes from interesting to incoherent in the 6 or 7 hours it takes to complete and you have an interesting title that is worth a look by survival horror fans but not at full price.
-
Aug 30, 2023Truth is, as a whole, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle feels like a cheap imitation of Resident Evil’s recent output, which is really sad when you consider that its precursor managed to do its own thing, even if it had flaws of its own. The fact that the franchise managed to take both a step forward AND back at the same time is certainly confusing, and as a follow-up to a title I genuinely enjoyed for its earnestness, it’s disappointing to see a franchise full of potential squander it to become a lesser imitation of what inspired it.
-
Sep 16, 2023The new Daymare game may be an actual step up from its predecessor although that doesn't say much, since it goes from abysmal to favorably mediocre. However, the developers at least managed to create a survival horror that could be defined as "guilty pleasure".
