Hammerwatch is set to strike a chord with fans of retro-style adventure games that feature plenty of action and a solid multiplayer experience. While its solo mode may not be the zenith of the experience, the local multiplayer mode has plenty to entertain its players and the game's overall fluidity and competent visuals add up to an experience that will find its place with many players.

Yooka-Laylee brings back some of the action platforming magic that was so successful in the late 90s in an effort that is full of nostalgic bliss. Being more of a retro-looking work than a trailblazing new platformer, it could use some improvements regarding certain sections that turn out to be too frustrating for its own good, as well as its combat mechanics and the way the camera moves but none of this prevents Yooka-Laylee from striking a chord with the fans of classic 3D platformers.

If anything Earth Wars feels like it should have built more on some elements and dropped others. Its gameplay mechanics are certainly enjoyable and the boss fights well designed but this ends up losing ground to a generic and bland plot, rather dull missions and cutscenes that contribute with very little to the overall experience.

Tachyon Project's brand of twin-stick shoot'em up is hardly anything new and has been done a thousand times but that doesn't stand in the way of the game offering some fun, fluid and free-flowing gameplay. Where Tachyon Project becomes less interesting is when it makes players increasingly frustrated due to its punitive difficulty, with the experience suffering as well from its levels that resemble each other too much.

Bayonetta 2 on the Nintendo Switch doesn't change the fundamentals: it remains the same exquisite and breathtaking experience as before, delivering an excellent gameplay and insane action, along with the possibility to play this masterpiece anytime. Black The Fall is an entertaining action game with puzzle solving that features a gloomy, somber background as the player has to escape an oppressive regime. Monopoly for Nintendo Switch is an accurate representation of the famous board game and this version can be played either by just one or up to six players and even if it doesn't add anything new to the formula, it can still be make for an interesting time. Unfortunately an unexplainable error leads to enormous loading times which seriously harm the experience and for which there is no excuse on a game with this price.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime starts from an unusual plot and goes on to become a remarkable game on the Nintendo Switch catalog. Thanks to its fun and polished gameplay and to an experience that can be thoroughly enjoyed whether on multiplayer or by a single player, this is something that can grow on any player and warm up their hearts to the gameplay.

Butcher is an overall fun and competent side-scroller with appealing looks. Pity that it quickly feels somewhat repetitive and doesn't offer enough variety to ensure a more sustainable lifespan but this doesn't stand in the way of making Butcher a fun experience.

The first season of Minecraft: Story Mode is a good opener of what is to come. Despite a somewhat passive gameplay and some fluidity breaks, this is a pleasant and alluring experience that will appeal to players beyond the Minecraft fan base, with extra points going for the game's excellent voice work.

League of Evil is simple and competent enough. While it gets the basics right, it doesn't go far enough to become memorable or to stand above its peers. The growing catalog of platformers for the Nintendo Switch make this game a less appealing choice and its confusing level editor make League of Evil a game that can be easily overlooked.

Featuring a good level design, gameplay, plenty of content and good visual production values, Sine Mora EX could almost be an instant classic if it were not for a few elements, such as its subpar soundtrack and lack of variety of its vehicles but nevertheless it remains a fine game.

The Flame in the Flood's survival mechanics are worthy of praise. The game has a very well-made background world and an interesting crafting system that puts the players in the middle of the game's concept. However not all of the game's elements are as outstanding and it often feels that it doesn't fully live up to its potential. Nevertheless, dedicated players will be closely around The Flame in the Flood for a long time.

What Robonauts lacks in charisma and story-telling it more than makes up with its gameplay. Intense, fast paced and with a demanding difficulty level, Robonauts will keep players close to it for a long time and its recipe of adding platforming action to a shoot and run game works like a charm.

Pankapu has an interesting plot and a very good visual presentation going for it but the game's execution ends up falling in a rather repetitive line that has been seen before many times. For skilled players, the difficulty level will certainly be a welcome asset but more care and variety could have gone into the game's level design.

Fire Emblem Warriors on the New Nintendo 3DS is mostly the same game that can also be found on the Nintendo Switch but the conversion feels a lot more like a downgrade than it should. While both systems are obviously different, there are several elements on this version that feel botched compared to the original and while this does not harm the overall experience, it does pose some questions, including the reason why the cooperative mode was scrapped.

Squareboy vs Bullies: Arena Edition represents a genre that barely exists in the Nintendo Switch, which by itself is positive. That being said, the game doesn't fully deliver what it could on many levels and beyond perhaps a few minutes of fun, there's no reason to prefer this over the game that inspires it, or many others of the same style.

Super Mario Odyssey takes everything that made its predecessors masterpieces of gaming and blends them together into an unforgettable, new and unique experience that packs an absurd amount of content and which will keep players clinging on to it for many, many wonderful hours to come. An absolute monument of a game that gets everything right and which comes down to not only one of the greatest games of this generation but one of the greatest games of all time.

Piczle Lines DX brings a fun and challenging concept to the puzzle game genre and resembles a crossover between Picross and Sudoku. It does a good use of the Nintendo Switch capabilities, namely of its touch screen but it could use more game modes for its price and it would benefit from a multiplayer mode.

Its plot could be more involving and it feels too long on several moments, while the characters certainly won't become the player's darlings but Golf Story's redeeming factors can cover part of its shortcomings and create an interesting mixture of an RPG and golf.

Ninja Shodown is frantic, action-packed and undeniably frustrating. A relatively short game that will take a long time to get the hold of, it could improve on some details of its moves, especially the combos and attack detection, even if these flaws become less significant in its much more enjoyable multiplayer experience.
