    One of the games that has the best value for your money currently in the Nintendo Switch eShop: loads of action and an extravagant setting confirm that this is a highly recommended game.

    The skill management system is a broken, confusing mess is what I’m saying. If any of you figure out how it’s supposed to work, please let me know. And that’s pretty much the whole game. Go on missions, kill some aliens, grab some loot, and craft your way to victory. Everything except the human characters looks great and there are some nifty graphical effects here and there. Control is smooth and combat is fun, especially the bonuses you get for random things like attacking from behind, destroying enemy shields, etc. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I like the loot/crafting system largely because it happens organically and you’re not hunting anything down. Earth Wars is a fun game, well worth the ridiculously cheap price (five bucks). It’s not perfect but it’s a spirited attempt to imitate Muramasa.

    Earth Wars is not particularly creative or brilliant, but it works entirely within its limited means to deliver a comfortable, enjoyable experience. Every minute is spent engaged in fast-paced combat, and there's just enough to keep players occupied until something else catches their interest.

    There's a decent amount of fun to be had with Earth Wars before a degree of monotony sets in. What starts out as a pretty slick, if straightforward 2D side-scrolling brawler fleshed out by a huge wealth of loot to gather, weapons to customise and skill stats to unlock, It never moves the needle far enough in either variety or innovation to truly hold interest for extended periods. Sure, there's just enough nuance in the combat and giant bosses to slay to you keep coming back, but the uninspired missions and derivative characters never let it realise its full potential.

    If anything Earth Wars feels like it should have built more on some elements and dropped others. Its gameplay mechanics are certainly enjoyable and the boss fights well designed but this ends up losing ground to a generic and bland plot, rather dull missions and cutscenes that contribute with very little to the overall experience.

    This game had 25+ hours of for me. Given the low price point, Earth Wars is an easy eShop recommendation given how much fun the combat is.This game had 25+ hours of for me. I am about 5 hours in and am thoroughly enjoying the gameplay. As you play you unlock different weapons/armor and skills which you can assign freely.     For starters, the story...what story? I can't even bother to say I have paid attention. All the characters are so monotone and dull that I can't even bother to watch the cutscenes. But to put it simply, you are one of specialized-tech warriors mounting a counteroffensive against an alien species. That's about all I got. The game does feature a great design in that you are essentially gearing and leveling up before each counteroffensive before the game eventually pushes you on to the next part of the game, so you must be wise about farming and leveling up, as well as which side missions you do.

    The visuals....I have no problem with them. I actually like them. The caricature looking soldiers in the game (as well as your character) are charming to be honest. The levels in the game aren't going to blow you away graphically, They are pre-rendered levels are pretty lifeless and it does get a bit annoying seeing the same level on almost every mission. But again, this isn't a AAA style game so it gets a slight pass.

    The combat...it is fun. Easily the best part of the game. Some of the best hack-n-slash you'll get out of a 2D game. Combos are easy to pull off, though you can sometimes get caught up in combos. Enemies attacks are pretty repetitive and predictable, unless you are fighting bosses. The combos are fun to pull off, but it can get tedious going from one slashing gallery to the next.

    Enemies types are slim as there are only a handful. Some are way easier than others, but most can be easily handled. Boss battles are hit or miss with some battles being a war of attrition and require numerous revives.

    Overall, I would recommend this game. It's nothing special, but again, for $5, it is a good game to just pick up and play. The customization and design are fun for this game and while repetitive and mindnumbing, it is accessible and has replay-ability. Plus, you can get the coins very easily.    … Expand

    Earth Wars is decent for its price. It has a large crafting system, and a changeable skill tree, that brings further depth to its beatem up game play.
