Mario Tennis Fever presents itself to the general public with a convincing, polished look and a guaranteed entertainment value, regardless of the number of players involved. While the Story mode was a bitter disappointment, there's a wide range of other options that could keep fans engaged for a good number of hours, especially considering the accessibility and solidity of the gameplay. Some might initially turn up their noses at the further simplification of some mechanics, but we can assure you that after just a few games, you'll realize that Mario Tennis Fever's gameplay conceals a much deeper layer than you might expect.

Once the dust has been cleared, one could say that Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is the same game released almost twenty-five years ago, simply given a thorough facelift. In reality, however subtle, the structural changes are significant in bringing this little masterpiece up to date, particularly regarding the combat system. All around, a series of embellishments demonstrate that Team Ninja didn't just do their homework, but tried to integrate as much as possible without distorting the authorial vein of the work. From this perspective, Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake represents an excellent example of video game preservation: a respectful restoration that doesn't rewrite the past, but simply makes it more accessible to the present.

Sumerian Six is a passionate and well-crafted homage to classic stealth tactics games, enriched by a fascinating fusion of mad science and the paranormal. Artificer's title manages to capture the essence of the pioneers of the genre, with the unique abilities of the characters and the variety of the missions that contribute to enriching the gameplay, which is engaging but not without some rough edges. While Sumerian Six performs well from a visual point of view, thanks to a distinctive graphic style, the plot and characterization of the characters would have benefited from greater depth. NBA 2K24 is one of those titles that is difficult to judge and above all to assign a numerical value that can balance its great gaming achievements and disappointing greed. On the one hand there is in fact one of the most beautiful basketball simulations ever made, on the other an online sector that in no way hides the excessive importance of microtransactions. The Mamba Moments and the Eras (with LeBron) are two splendid additions to a content offering with few equals in the sports sector, while ProPLAY technology on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series . In short, NBA 2K24 is one of the best sports games of this generation, and it is a shame that the intrusiveness of microtransactions inevitably ends up weakening the excellent work done on the gameplay.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless may not be the revolutionary chapter we were promised, but overall we are more than satisfied with the work done by the guys at Nippon Ichi Software, who after the various missteps made with the previous episode have rolled up your sleeves to get the series back on track. Some interventions seemed excessive and not always in focus, such as the reintroduction of the hospital, nevertheless the title works much better than its direct predecessor, also thanks to a more refined technical component, a main cast even crazier than usual and a handful of very innovative innovations. As long as you haven't developed an allergy to grinding, NIS's latest effort will satisfy your palates and give you hundreds of hours of entertainment.

No Man's Sky has no real flaws (except the star maps, really a disaster), but many limitations, but often due to his youth. It seems now clear that the objective of Sean Murray is to create another phenomenon a la Minecraft. The designer has already announced the arrival of terrestrial resources, the ability to build our own bases, even larger ships. Moreover, in a similar game structure you can add anything, including new variables, new land, new formulas to make things even more varied and surprising. No Man's Sky is not only gameplay, but there is something more, and that something is hidden in each of us.

Mortal Kombat 1 presents one of the best combat systems in the saga, creative, rich in variations, deep and complex. The Kameo system and the aerial combos are integrated naturally with the historical gameplay of the saga and provide a new and very interesting perspective on the bloody clashes between the members of the roster. However, the feeling is that NetherRealm has rushed the release, with a rather poor online component and a balance that is not always impeccable. However, it is a very solid episode, and an excellent starting point for anyone who wants to approach the saga.

The Crew Motorfest exudes passion for motors and everything that surrounds them. Not just mechanisms, sticky oil and metal, but also emotions, history, engineering and pilots. The title does not abandon the arcade nature of its predecessors, on the contrary, it strengthens it with a driving system that is easy to approach but more refined and interesting to master, convincing even if not realistic physics and a very respectable graphics sector. Furthermore, on PS5, Dualsense is a very high added value. It's a shame that to have fun even as a solo player you need to always be connected to the Internet, especially because so close to the launch it's difficult to get an idea about the long-term validity of the online game, which for now is promising but less interesting than the solo component. It's also disappointing for the lower recreational impact of vehicles other than four-wheelers and for the rather derivative soul. Certainly, Ubisoft seems to have revived the fortunes of an IP that risked being forgotten and which has now, instead, stepped on the accelerator.

The best part of Quantum Break is found in its narrative design. It's a unique way to tell a story, and it goes way beyond what videogames usually achieve, showing many different points of view and providing many ways to delve deep into the background. On the other hand, the gameplay suffers from occasional poor animations and scarce precision in the control system. Using time powers is fun most of the time, but the difficulty is set on the low side, the gunplay feels repetitive after a while, and the overall duration is below expectations. All things considered, the 2025 edition of WWE 2K picks up where its illustrious predecessor left off, continuing to build on the solid foundations laid last year. The gameplay system, despite some historical issues related to multiple matches, is even more robust and fun than usual; the content endowment is, as per tradition, mammoth and generally of a good level, apart from some small qualitative declines in the selection of matches included in the Showcase or in the drafting of the dialogues of My Rise; the visual realization alternates genuinely impressive moments with others in which the need for extra refinements is evident. In essence, if you are passionate about this spectacular sport-entertainment or are simply looking for a title in which to brawl with your friends in the name of fun, WWE 2K25 may be the right choice. If you're a zombie fanatic and your dream is to experience a believable, yet scenic, terrifying, and atmospheric undead apocalypse, Dying Light: The Beast is a title you shouldn't miss. Kyle Crane's story is a classic, at times a bit predictable, but there are many other survivors with more unique stories waiting to grip you in the numerous side missions hidden in Castor Woods. A natural setting unlike the dense cities of Techland, where small, more refined "attractions" float in a more airy fabric of woods and minor secrets, as if we were in a zombie-themed amusement park. The combat is more violent than ever, the beast mechanics are a force, and the parkour works, albeit with a few uncertainties here and there. Honing Kyle's skills will keep you engaged throughout the 30 hours required for the main campaign. Repetitiveness is present, but less noticeable, given the compact setting and storyline. As far as we're concerned, The Beast is a more thoughtful chapter, which, while not attempting to revolutionize its formula, restructures it just enough: with passion, screams, blood and lots and lots of punches.

If you've played all the Little Nightmares, including the third, and enjoyed them, there's almost no doubt that Reanimal will blow your mind. As always, the hidden horrors, the profound meanings, and the social messages remain powerful and intense beneath the almost "childish" appearance of a direction and art style that blends cartoons and hyperrealism. MLB The Show 24 proves to be a solid simulation: not only has San Diego Studio solved some flaws but has perfected the gameplay even further. After a couple of slightly subdued years, the series seems to have stabilized at a high level: for those who want to get closer to the world of baseball there is nothing better around. To seduce veterans of the series, SDS has embellished the fabulous Storylines with a couple of truly spot-on additions (Toni Stone and Derek Jeter), giving more or less substantial tweaks to all the other modes. The technical sector has progressed even if the polygonal models and player animations in some situations reveal the limits of cross-gen production. The sound is simply fabulous: you can really feel the magic of a Stars and Stripes baseball game. SDS once again confirms its undeniable talent: MLB The Show 24 is one of the most successful episodes of the last period as well as one of the best sports simulations of the year.

This last DQ remake for Nintendo DS is, as the first two other chapters, an impressive conversion of an old time classic.
