Insomniac Games did not just remake this classic platformer. They boldly bombarded it with ideas and then rebuilt it pixel by pixel using methods unknown 13 years ago. The result is magnificent. [06/2016, p.50]

It’s not just the best game set in Warhammer 40,000 universe we’ve seen in years, but also the best modern space strategy. I need to warn you though – it is brutally difficult. [06/2016, p.48]

The way the story branches out depending on your choices is really impressive, but experimenting with it becomes repetitive after a while due to scarcity of levels and too easy (but otherwise enjoyable) combat. [06/2016, p.47]

An illegitimate child of Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne – a wonderfully animated twin-stick shooter with randomly generated world, vast choice of weapons and pixel graphics. It’s a shame it didn’t inherit Isaac’s atmosphere and Nuclear Throne’s pace. [06/2016, p.44]

The game’s cardinal sin is that it painfully limits your creativity. Instead of inventing deadly contraptions you mostly recreate those designed by the developers, so you can meet the level completion requirements. [06/2016, p.43]

After 23 years Day of the Tentacle is still so much more than a curious archeological find. It’s an important chapter of genre’s constitution, still reminding us how point’n’clicks should be done. [06/2016, p.42]

Living up to such legacy seemed impossible but Beamdog understands Baldur’s Gate and created a game true to the original. Unfortunately along with the party you need to gather a band of patches, because bugs are crawling all over the place. [06/2016, p.40]

Everything about Dark Souls III is great, but it fails to push the series forward. Bloodborne and both previous Souls squash it in terms of ambition. DkS3 is like a compilation album by your favorite band – you enjoy listening to it because you love these songs despite having heard them so many times before, but there’s no room for even a tiniest surprise. It’s a shame that because of the limited processing power Hyrule Warriors lost much of its visual attractiveness and fluidity, but other than that it’s one of the best games in the series. [05/2016, p.75]

The most important thing in Sky Fortress is the jet pack which makes moving around, replaying the campaign and liberating regions a new, even more enjoyable experience. But if you’ve already done everything there was to do in JC3, the DLC will be too short for you, as the story it offers lasts for a mere hour. [05/2016, p.71]

It could really use some improvements introduced in more recent instalments of the series and it does not look good, but if you get hooked on its addictive character development, you can spend hundreds (!) of hours with Disgaea PC. [05/2016, p.70]

The worst thing about Into the Stars is overwhelming boredom that makes you look for something more interesting on the ceiling. You’ll have much more fun playing FTL once again or hunting pirates in Elite Dangerous. [05/2016, p.67]

I’m glad the developers decided to introduce some substantial changes, especially that improvements were made where they were really needed. Controls are much more intuitive and the whole grappling system was redesigned. If you’re looking for a realistic fighting game, pick up UFC 2. [05/2016, p.66]

ChaosTower’s rule are simple – you get some building materials with which you have to raise a tower of required height, and then you defend it. Sounds promising, but because the developers did not put enough thought into said building materials, most levels can be completed by repeating one simple trick, and due to imprecise controls it’s almost impossible to make the elements fit each other closely. Irrespective of the platform, Kholat is a game full of extremities. Awesome aspect of navigating the area is squandered by invisible corridors resulting from main character’s restricted mobility. Powerful horror scenes are wasted in a story that’s just an empty shell. On a technical side I was disappointed that the game runs in 30 fps and sometimes noticeably stutters. [05/2016, p.63]

This tactical game about dwarves exploring an alien planet will not forgive any mistakes and will boss you around, but is completely fair in its ruthlessness. It’s a shame that brilliant setting was wasted by writers and the game itself becomes monotonous after a while. [05/2016, p.62]
