While the predecessor had a certain rough charme, even though it lacked decent mechanics as a railshooter, Gal Gun 2 has problems to define itself. As fan-service it is not explicit enough, while mechanically it even takes a few steps back.

While one table takes its strength from its minimalistic design and interesting stories, the second one is one of the most effects-laden pinball tables in Zen history, but sacrifices mechanically challenging missions for the visual splendor.

What on earth happened to MX vs ATV? While at its core it still shows off decent driving physics, the visuals are totally outdated.

Seriously? We had to wait for the PC port this long? With bugs and technical problems the once very good action roleplaying game is reduced to a meager shell.

Masters of Anima sometimes feels like Pikmin, sometimes like Overlord. And sometimes it shows a mind of its own, while the controls never give the feeling that you as a player are a true master.

Who you gonna call? Definitely not these Ghostbusters. Overpriced, short and mechanically overly simplistic this doesn’t work as a game nor as an experience.

Trailblazers shows not only a lot of potential, but also its share of unnerving flaws. While this could have been the ‘Splatoon of fun racers’ in the end you’ll remember it mostly for technical shortcomings, harsh AI and bugs.

This is a remarkable premier for the Canadian team IronOak Games. This varied adventure constantly feels like you’re playing a board game with enhanced roleplaying, not only because of the wood carved design of the characters.

The survival road movie mixes elements of top-down-action, text adventure and resource management and becomes quite interesting very fast. That is until you hit the wall of content repetition that games randomly generated content are infamous for.

A nice little arcade gem that rekindles the love for old-school dogfight action.

The constant circle of death, character improvement and another try in this randomly generated pyramids serves its purposes as fast food fps action.

Roughly five years after its premiere two things become evident. A) The art design still is out of this world. B) It still has some flaws, but the relentless action paired with the hunt for items is highly motivating.

Conceptually interesting hide-and-seek that rewards cleverness, but lacks variety.

It is not as devastating and dark as This War of Mine. But nonetheless this interesting strategy with its survival aspects plays with moral dilemmas and asks some uncomfortable questions.

I would like to love this game. And while it somehow works as an homage to one of the weirdest movie duos of all time, as a game it becomes too redundant too soon.

A good, suprisingly epic conversion of the tabletop. Presentation is a little lackluster, though. And it could have used some more polishing. But fun nonetheless.

Nintendo was and still is the gold standard when it comes to platform action. Mechanics are strictly conservative and actually this is nothing more than an HD update. But having said that, the Wii U version was one of the best experiences of its kind. An excellent port of an excellent platformer.

A charming action RPG that combines a great cartoon design with loads of roguelike elements while constantly paying homage to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

The cardboard is surprisingly robust, the assembly of the sometimes intricate designs is a as time consuming as it is fun. But despite the interesting concept, the minigames that come with it are merely snacks.

Even with the improved combat system the superhero spoof can’t surpass The Stick of Truth. But since Obsidian’s South Park treatment is not available on Nintendo’s Hybrid, Cartman and his friends have to settle with being the best South Park game on Switch.

That the gorgeous visuals as well as the revamped fighting mechanics would deliver, was foreseeable. But I wouldn’t have thought possible, that story and direction would reach these heights from beginning to end. An inventive reimagination of one of Sony’s most durable heroes.
