    Like an ambitious rookie, AO International Tennis appeared promising, with alleged photo realistic looks and authenticity backed by an extensive data built AI. But Big Ant Studios' production can't live up to these expectations, at least for now, despite an interesting timing approach and undeniable efforts showed through the numerous updates. The lacklustre presentation, the shallow (though large amount of) content and the erratic gameplay literally smash the whole experience, which still looks more like some distant imitation rather than simulation, hence suggesting the lack of a bold, expert direction overall.

    We're sorry: you will need to wait a bit longer to play the ultimate tennis experience in your console or PC. AO International Tennis has a lot of good ideas in the playable side, but it's a mess in all the other fronts. Also, the absence of many licensed top players doesn’t help the game.

    If you were hoping to find the heir of Top Spin 4, run away. AO International Tennis is a mess in spite of the 17 updates is has had since the start of the Early Access. With wacky gameplay, sub-android level graphics and very light content.

    Australian developer Big Ant Studios double faults on its opening serve regarding tennis game developing; while we can appreciate the effort, AO Tennis lacks the level of polish, depth, variety and fun we'd been hoping for so long now. It's just another break opportunity lost miserably.

    Ultimately though, the poor execution and the cracks in the gameplay cause this wildcard entry to fall well short of being a grand slam effort.

    AO International Tennis does not have any competition in this current market when it comes to tennis games, but AO Tennis lacks both refinement and variety that a good sports game should have.

    Love this game...it really brings the feel of the real Australian Open to life. Frustrated because there are some cool things, like community sharing, logo / stadium editor, endless tools to create your tennis player and a bunch of tournaments in career mode. Unfortunately, everything else is a mess. I was expecting a mix of Tennis Elbow with Top Spin graphics (which is decent in this), but nope, not this time.… Expand

The core mechanics are a horrible representation of the game of tennis. The customisation is good, but without proper core mechanics and a control interface that is easy to use then its as good as worthless as a simulation. The clunky controls and dodgy AI are enough to make you want to throw the controller at the screen after a short period of time.… Expand

The gameplay is not fluid and the mechanics are broken. The AI is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The game doesn’t teach you anything. If you’re looking to play tennis, this game isn’t for you. Don’t make my mistake. If you’re into customizing and stuff, I wouldn’t know why you’d want to do that in a tennis game. Seriously DO NOT buy this game. It is the worst money I’ve ever spent on a video game or on anything for that matter. What a rip off… Expand
