The level design and combat have improved a lot. There have been missed opportunities to improve the weakest moments of the original and in the narrative, although there are few changes and they are subtle details, some scenes lose strength while others are reinforced. Although Revolution claims to use its own AI model and to have retouched it by hand, it still leaves questions up in the air and sometimes not so good results, not to mention a sketchy translation of the new menus made with automatic translator. These ugly details tarnish a work that undoubtedly benefits from high definition.

Despite still being a solid game, Final Fantasy 16's PC port is... complicated. With a good enough PC, it's easy to hit 150+ average FPS, yet, it's an inconsistent experience that usually dips in framerate wherever you least expect it. It's also missing some key features for PC gamers, like high refresh rate cutscenes and ultrawide resolutions. Luckily, these can be modded.

With a rival like Civilization to beat, Xbox exclusive Ara: History Untold surprises even the most veteran with deep, humanistic strategic management. [Recommended]

Purple Lamp has gone above and beyond the call of duty by achieving an extraordinary palette and scenery. The problems with the camera are fixed but the inherent problems in the gameplay, due to a simplistic control and combat, as well as level design and platforming, are still present.

The God of War: Ragnarök PC version improves the quality of the PS5, with improvements in performance and shadows that generate a more polished and epic visual experience. [Recommended]

Gestalt: Steam & Cinder is a video game with very ambitious intentions and achieves some interesting things. The combat is appealing and agile, the progression keeps you entertained, and the artistic and sound design are good. However, its biggest bet is the narrative, and there it falls down in the way it tells it. If you don't mind the second part, you'll have a good time with this metroidvania.

Although it's not perfect, Dawntrail is one of the most ambitious expansions Final Fantasy XIV has ever had. Its story is good enough to entertain, but its gameplay is what this new adventure will be remembered by. With some amazing dungeons, trials and raids, Square Enix is, once again, proving that the 11 years old formula of the MMO is far from stale in 2024. [Recommended]

Creatures of Ava from Inverge Studios is such a solid videogame, but without neglecting the charisma. Visual charisma, with a very solvent and inspired technical and artistic section, as well as gameplay mechanics that, without being brilliant, are consistent with the story and keep us entertained. It has some improvable details, such as inventory management or level design in certain phases, but if we add it all up, we have a game to recommend. [Recommended]

Dustborn is an astonishing narrative challenge with a superb handling of the conversations and emotions of its diverse team of protagonists.

While I do appreciate the return of Zelda's "dungeon based" formula, it's unfair to say that Dungeons of Hinterberg is just a "Zelda-like". Mixing up those elements with an equipment based progression, a calendar system and a social aspect (akin to Persona's), the game's focus is not only its dungeons, but also its plot and characters. Hinterberg wants us to think about tourism, the way it affects people's lives and changes their livelihoods. Even if flawed, I can appreciate its refrexing take on its influences and the message it conveys.

Minds Beneath Us is one of the best stories that you will enjoy this year, and also one of the best science fiction tales about hidden secrets and really important decisions. [Recommended]

Expectations were extremely high for Black Myth: Wukong, yet somehow after playing we find ourselves eager to see what else China can offer from now on. The game itself isn't too transformative, but solid enough to make for one of those award-winning AAA games and -what's more important- an incredible stepping stone in making the Wuxia genre more globalized, interesting and appealing. A really good action-RPG in need for some minor sanding featuring some impressive UE5 tech and a legacy to make. [Recommended]

The First Descendant is a fine addition to the shooter-looter family as it features the enemy variety and RPG depth many of its casual so-called competitors lack of. There's no doubt many will it their new home, although its pricey store and boring guns make it a lesser version of Warframe in our eyes.

Kunitsu-gami is a great mix of Tower Defense, action and strategy. Capcom has managed to balance all its mechanics so that they do not lose depth and, at the same time, are attractive to all types of players.

Eiyuden Chronicle exists in a difficult to navigate space for fans of Suikoden. It includes pretty much everything that made the Konami RPG series special, but fails to deliver its feeling of desperation and somberness. JRPG fans will likely enjoy it more than Suikoden fans. [Recommended]

Sand Land is not only a remarkable Action RPG with fantastic driving mechanics and vehicle customization, but also a near-perfect homage to Toriyama-sensei's legacy. [Recommended]

Even 20 years later, this Paper Mario game may still be considered as one of the best in the series (if not the best), and this visual remake shows that. [Recommended]

If you are looking for a somewhat more warlike and varied RTS experience, you will come across a problem: Solium Infernum is committed to an idea and lives and dies with it, which translates into a more contained experience than you would like.

WWE 2K24 is the most complete wrestling game to date. It has polished its gameplay mechanics and added new game modes, as well as taking advantage of Wrestlemania's 40th anniversary to give the brand the homage it deserves.
