Terrible coloring. The soundtrack doesn't match the scenes. The entire movie felt like "In the End - Linkin Park": the color, the environment and the CGI, but 20 years later.

Snyder’s justice league is a lot better than the the original but it still fails in a lot of the same ways. The villain is better but still not very good. The new scenes with the flash and cyborg do add a lot and improve the story but I’m still not a fan of their characterization, and when Superman returns the movie still loses everything it’s worked towards in regards of the villain. And I think we can all agree now that Jared Letos joker should not return. In conclusion Justice league is a fine movie and I give it a 5.3/10 Expand

The movie's whopping four-hour runtime begins to overstay its welcome, particularly during scenes that feel completely unnecessary. For example, Bruce Wayne's post-credit nightmare scene feels like a set-up for a movie we most likely will never see due to Zack Snyder's complicated relationship with Warner Bros. In fact, most of the movie feels like a prequel to a much better movie. However, one thing Zack Snyder's Justice League improves is the characters, mainly Cyborg. Cyborg was an almost insignificant character in the theatrical release of Justice League, but in Zack Snyder's cut Cyborg becomes the emotional core of the movie. This movie's focus on characters is refreshing to see and is really the best part of this movie. However, decent characters can't make up for the mountain of mediocrity that this movie truly is. From the opening lines about "the integrity of Zack Snyder's artistic vision" to the fathomless and never-ending epilogue, we found lots of opportunities to chuckle. Ben Affleck as Batman, the Flash tripping, dialogue so pre-canned it rose unbidden to your lips... The moments kept coming. But while there are unknown pleasures in casting a constipated sheep with an unfortunate skin condition as the villain, after four hours of the hubris and flatulence of Zack's said artistic vision, I was mainly left with gratitude -- that I hadn't had to pay anything extra to watch it. This one is ridiculously drawn out, and the majority of the runtime is buildup, and not particularly interesting buildup for that matter. By the time anything starts happening, the movie is over, and they have to give you dream sequences that have some of the only real intrigue in the film.

Some of the action scenes are great, and that's most of what would make this movie worth a watch. Cyborgs motivations are decent as well, but no one in the cast has any chemistry. It's just a bunch of brooding people bouncing expository dialogue off each other, then the Flash makes another joke that doesn't remotely land.

I fell for the claims that it was improved over the original, when in fact many of the scenes that were highlighted are exactly the same. Just in the non-IMAX 4:3 so that Cyborg could be cut out of a few scenes and the CGI budget could be stretched out (less CGI on screen at any one time).

This was massively bloated, with many plot holes added from the unnecessary scenes. When I started to factor in all the character assassinations such as WW brutally killing people that she did not need to, including possibly crushing a lot of cops as she used her nuke against a single person instead of her super-speed while he was reloading, then turning to a little girl and claiming that she can grow up to be just like WW. I was not aware that you can get an education as the offspring of a ancient god with all inherent powers, or the ability to not be held accountable for killing without probable cause (or property damage). I would like to sign up for that course immediately! Then we have Cyborg stealing $100k and transferring it to a working mom who probably does deserve it. This seems great until the IRS shows up and wants to know where it came from, eventually siezing it as proceeds from crime (someone hacked the bank) since there is no such thing as the ATM lottery. Finally we have Superman's apparent default attitude which is to kill everyone if he gets the least bit upset. I am not talking about the Spoiler event at the end, but the laughable plot device where Cyborg's arm 'accidentally' attacks him. Superman kills at least one of the soliders (far side of the Humvee), and nearly kills Flash. It was just super convienent that Martian Martha did not convince Lois to return to work right away, or the entire movie would have ended with Superman wiping them all out. Add in the super-scream that would have killed half the world, or the Flash being able to use his newfound abilities to have saved everything all on his own, and this whole script breaks down. The Whedon changes all make sense now. Factor in that he only had two or three months, and Execs telling him what to do, and I am amazed that the original managed a 5 from me.

A lot of this is easy to miss on the first viewing, giving the 4 hour bloat, especially that slo-mo for no reason (burger with a CGI seasame seed is the worst offender), or the fact they screw up a lot by slowing the people but not the CGI effects (rubble, vehicles, explosions, etc). On first viewing I really did think this was better than the original, but a re-watch really helped me notice all the plot holes, plot armor, plot convienence, and some horrible character dialogue that were not in the original.

Darkseid's ships do not have navigational computers? Really Zach? They just 'forgot' the location of the most important thing (Anti-Life equation) in the entire Mutiverse? Also if WW can kick Ares, whom can kick Darkseid, whom in turn can make Steppenwolf grovel, why did WW even break a sweat? If lightening cannot break apart the Unity, how did Zeus's thunderbolt do it in the flashback? Or was that 'special' lightening? If Martian Manhunter cares about the world, why did he sit the majority of this movie out, and how much is Lois going to freak out when she figures out that was not Martha? Finally, what was with all the false advertising in the promo material, including trailers, that were never intended to make your cut? You may not call it cheating, but the people that live in a society do. We call it a lie, just like your claims that Whedon was responsible for all the bad, even though we have the material you originally shot, and it is exactly what he used in the cinematic release. So you just denounced your own scenes, while trying to blame him? Pretty low Zack. Perhaps this is why Ann just axed the Snyderverse.

The main problem still exists from the last one... this movie, like all of Snyder's in the DCEU, are just trying to do too much. Think about it, in 3 movies we went from the Superman's origin, to BvsS, to Death of Superman, to his resurrection. We didn't even get ONE movie of him just fighting Earth villains and working at the Daily Planet. And Batman is still the world's worst detective telling everyone around him his secret identity. The movie could be 30-60 minutes shorter if all of the slo-mo scenes set to Snyder's favorite music were played at normal speed. The best part is Cyborg, though his face weirdly looks like it a bad deep fake most of the movie, and it's a shame, because of WB hi-jinks, we will probably never get a continuation of his story. The massive battle on Earth is cool. The ending is very cool and could lead to something awesome, if it ever happens, but again, Snyder is firing on all cylinders trying to get to the next big Superman story. One last thing, the new re-design of some of these characters kind of reminds of Bay's Transformers, where they are over-designed with a million chittering moving parts, in mostly Steppenwolf and Cyborg. But that's not surprising because they are so similar as film makers. Expand

They literally shot the whole movie for widescreen and intentionally went back and reformatted to an Imax format (4:3) for EXCLUSIVE release on a STREAMING service, where the VAST, VAST majority of people watch on widescreen TV's. So 1/3 of the screen is black bars and looks like a VHS movie from the 90's. Just boggles my mind. It's AWFUL. And the sound for me was all over the place. One second it's whisper quiet dialogue, the next my room is shaking. I normally watch stuff on my TV at 18-20 volume. I had to crank this up to 55-60. Could be a thing on my end, but I've had this TV for 3 years now and NEVER had volume issues like this. Just THIS movie. The movie itself tries to be a live action baroque art installation, which can be cool, in moderation, but after every single shot being this way, it can be easy to roll your eyes and stop caring. It's got it's ups and downs. If you have a low tolerance for nonsense, this isn't your movie. It doesn't even really try to be grounded in reality, which for me, just makes me not care. It's mostly just mindless, heavily stylized, nonsense. Would not recommend. Expand

From riding a horse, to taking off a shirt, to drinking, to simple turning around.

But a lot of fans won't be bothered no matter the quality - so if you love comics, watch it. If you like good directing and cinematography, watch it if you have nothing else to do.
If you value your time; you lose nothing from skipping it.

Maybe better than the previous in some ways, but not worth 4 hrs.

It's better than the theatrical cut, it's better than Man of Steel, and it's undoubtedly better than Batman v Superman. For better or for worse, this is Snyder's uncompromised vision—and all the muted colours and self-indulgent grandiosityIt's better than the theatrical cut, it's better than Man of Steel, and it's undoubtedly better than Batman v Superman. For better or for worse, this is Snyder's uncompromised vision—and all the muted colours and self-indulgent grandiosity that come along with it.

The film benefits greatly from the insane length by providing some much needed context for many of the disjointed plot points found in the original cut. Victor in particular gets a lot more screen time and feels like a far more fleshed out character. I can see why Ray Fisher was so upset since virtually his entire arc was plucked out of original cut. But the length is a double-edged sword: the film is actually coherent and contains stronger characterization but many scenes drag on for way too long and it often felt like a slog to get through. Snyder always had an obsession with slow motion but here it is exacerbated to a hilarious degree. I swear if you took out most of the excessive slow-mo (essentially any scenes that didn't involve Barry) and the tacked-on ending you could easily shave over half an hour off the final product. As a result it would be much more palatable. But this is what Snyder wanted and this is what his fans wanted. I hope you're satisfied.

This isn't the holy grail of superhero movies. Much of it feels like it wants to stand tall as some kind of massive, important monolith of the genre. Meanwhile it still suffers from many of the same issues that plague Snyder's other projects. Junkie XL's new score is appropriately bombastic but even that can get overbearing. Did we really have to hear a woman wailing every time Diana does something badass? It verges on self-parody. And even with the hindsight of DC movies that have been released in the meantime, they didn't address the continuity errors with Aquaman. For that matter, why does Amber Heard have a British accent now? She never did before. At least it doesn't contain maddening levels of character assassination like Snyder's previous movies in this series, so that's a point in its favour. Though I didn't see the need to revisit Batman's homicidal nightmares again towards the conclusion. It feels like he took some of the past criticism to heart and I'm glad he got to see this through to the end after experiencing such a terrible family tragedy.

Do I like it? Not really, but I'm happy that a major studio allowed a filmmaker's vision to come to fruition in the end. But if you really want to see a few hours of the Justice League I would say you're way better off watching a season of the animated series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Somehow both better than and worse than the 2017 version. Zack Snyder's Justice League is a long, confusing and meandering fanfest that introduces more problems than it fixes. We are given more context for the backstories of characters, but they lack the emotional weight that should make us care about the characters. The movie is only dark in the sense that the colour palette mostly consists of blacks and Grey's. Steer away unless you're a die-hard Snyder fan. Expand

A user rating of 9 here on Metacritic? Has fandom become so cult like that just because it’s not the Joss version we initially got people are now clamoring to praise this garbage version? Zack Snyder, the king of drawing out moves with way too many slow motion sequences, outdoes himself by somehow ruining the pacing within already slogged down sequences by making a multitude of awkward choices. Want to hear a couple of ladies sing for some reason? You see it’s cool because it’s not in English and might make you think of something from a better movie. Didn’t think you got enough time eying a briefcase in slow-mow? This movie’s got you covered. Want to see a sesame seed up close for longer than a second for what is basically no reason? No? Too bad. I’ve heard other people say this before, but this prince of everything surface basically made parts of the movie a lame slow motion music video. These scenes are meaningless. Yes it is more. Much more, but none of it added up to create something more interesting this time around. Here’s a new drinking game for this and all future Snyder movies. Drink every time a pop ballad plays and excessive slow motion is forced to begin. I swear he doesn’t actually think anything out. He just says to himself, “you know what would look cool” and goes no deeper then that. F#@k your 4 hour movie. It should have been trimmed. Expand

A 10 here is just lying. The reshot footage looks abysmal and clearly spliced together. 4 hours of meandering superhero plot is not fun. I don't know which cut is worse, at least the Whedon cut wasted less of my time

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Way too long, terrible pacing, at an hour in you realize you could be halfway through any other superhero movie and nothing has happened yet.

The Flash and Cyborg are surprise stand outs.

Joker and Batman are extreme low points and neither were convincingly written or portrayed. The tone, characterization, and score are all over the place. Similar to BvS there are random slow scenes inserted in otherwise dramatic moments that completely undercut the pacing.

I’m not a fan of his of his “trilogy” of DC movies. They’re loud and bombastic and overly stylized to a degree that becomes numbing to me. Couple that style with a script that is jam packed with comic book nonsense...it’s just not for me (or a general audience who isn’t into this like a die hard comic book fan). Are storylines and characters fleshed out (in comparison to the 2017 Joss Whedon hybrid)? Yes...but (to me) that’s not necessarily a good thing when the characters are still boring and bland. Cyborg is a devastating bore and his origin is given a HUGE piece of screen time and it’s ultimately uninteresting. One thing I’m curious about- THE FLASH and his introductory scene. The fans of these movies HATED the Whedon induced humor in the previous incarnation but are giving a pass to the annoyingly unfunny Pet Shop sequence? That whole scene alternated between unfunny and outright bizarre. When he saved the random girl in the car (with the STRANGE and out of place song choice)... bizarre sequence. Overall- it’s a movie that at its core is not my thing. I love a great Batman and Superman movie when the director / cast / script is right ...but this isn’t it. Expand

I am definitley not planning on seeing the rest of the movie.

Also, special mention the part where a little girl asks Wonder Woman if she can be like her, and she says something like, you can be whatever you want was so cringe and dumb, I get the cringe message they were trying to send but come on, of course you can't you dumb girl, she was born with damn super powers. It was so stupid

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think in a lot of ways its plot is more sensible than Whedon's cut, but somehow structurally the worse movie. I don't think movies have to be under some sort of arbitrary time limit in order to be good, but I think if you make a 4 hour movie it should probably earn that runtime. Instead, Zack Snyder's Justice League is exhausting, with so many scenes especially early on that could've been cut at no loss to the narrative. Many characters have multiple "first introduction" scenes, and I think it's obvious that the first Flash and Aquaman scenes don't really work either emotionally or in the context of the rest of the film (that part where Barry brushes Iris' hair while he's saving her life is maybe the worst thing Snyder has ever made).

I think the story around the movie is endlessly interesting, though. So many glowing reviews seem to highlight the triumph of this film compared to Whedon's cut, probably due to the backstory around the two directors. Some comic based reviewers have stated how this is a movie made for them, but as a comic book reader (and DC fan particularly) I can't understand that. Maybe the best example is the Martian Manhunter scene, which takes place right in the middle of an important conversation and has no logic to it whatsoever. Is what people want out of comic book movies now really just fanservice? Snyder seems to think he's reinventing the wheel and making serious, thought-provoking comic book films, but in reality his films (his "true vision", even) have much less to say than Marvel's quick, snappy popcorn flicks. Have we come so far since the days of Adam West's Batman, only to settle in a desire for stories about the insanely powerful fighting otherworldly CGI monsters? DC comics and storylines in fact work the best when we zoom in on these literal gods to see their humanity, but ZSJL has an almost unflinching desire to stay away from that. The most we get is Cyborg using his powers to help an impoverished woman, or Wonder Woman saving a bunch of kids from terrorists. But this latter scene is undercut both by the obnoxious lamentation music the film plays every time Wonder Woman is on screen and her ultimate decision to end the conflict by nearly blowing up the building herself.

These are more nitpicky complaints, but man I really can't stand The Flash in this movie, and I unapologetically love the campy CW show. The movie is at its most exhausting either when its trying to be light-hearted or funny, or when it fully embraces the melodrama (that first Lois Lane scene is vintage Snyder). I can't tell whether it's better than Whedon's cut, but I do know I feel silly for sitting through either of them.

It does improve on the original cut. The characters are much more fleshed out with proper backstories. However the pacing is just dreadful. 4 hours and it feels like it could have been cut down to 2.5 -3 hours.

It is filled with even more plot holes than Whedon's theatrical release, only now there's a ton of unnecessary scenes that literally add nothing to the story and only add to the already long list of unanswered questions.

I don't mind the 4:3 aspect ratio. I don't even mind the long runtime. But I can't look past the glaringly obvious plot holes, uncomfortably drawn out & unnecessary scenes, or the jumbled editing & intermittently bad CGI. I won't even get into the tired slow-mo gimmick, or the terrible score/soundtrack.

I want to end by saying that I understand Zack suffered a tremendous loss only to have WB screw him over on top of it. But even if none of that happened and this was the movie we got to see in theaters years ago, I'd still have the exact same problems with it.

Worth watching if you have 4 hours to waste, but you can probably fast forward at least half the movie and still enjoy it. Don't bother with three epilogue, unless you want to see Batman's dream. I can forgive the 2005 CGI and pretty wooden acting, but this is nothing more than a polished turd.

Does it still wildly misunderstand the characters and have them behave like joyless, dour, and morose gods who seem completely disconnected from their human side? Sure. Did Zack Snyder reign in his worst tendencies? No. It's a bloated 4 hours with too much slow mo and a ridiculous aspect ratio for home release and an aversion to color that is comically absurd. Snyder films also have this whole pretentious angle to them where you can feel him really hamfistedly trying to make points about big ideas or issues through his superhero films. It's fine to make a point. It can be great. Captain America Civil War and James Bond Skyfall were two films that did an amazing job of being blockbusters that dealt with deeper themes. Those were good fun films too. Snyder just doesn't really seem to understand how to have fun with these characters and fails to really let any of them have a personality. That makes his pretentious statements about stuff cringey because they don't make sense. If you love his stuff? Sure, you'll love this. If you don't? You will probably like this better than the original but you're not going to watch it several times a year like you might with, say, The Dark Knight because it's just missing humanity. It makes sense that Snyder made Cyborg the main character: he's gotta be a robot because he just doesn't understand humans. Expand

It is not a movie that respects it's viewers. It is a movie where Zack Snyder strokes his ego for four hours. It is long, boring, pointless, tasteless and just overall such a slog to get through and I had tried to force myself to care about this film over and over again but throughout the entire affair I just found myself waiting for the good part to begin, since so many fans and people had praised this and stood by it and act as if it is the greatest film ever conceived by mankind. It never came. It only continued to drag along and throw in random cameos and characters for no reason other than "oh hey I know that guy". The acting is awful, the dialogue is downright laughable and I just cannot believe people actually call this a masterpiece. A masterpiece of schlock and bad writing, sure. But the pinnacle of hero films? Not by a long shot. And we can't just award it for being better than the 2017 version of the film, because that is already a low bar to pass. I genuinely hope this is the last we see of a Zack Snyder DC film because I don't think I can stomach anymore of this fake deep artistic vision he so loves to spew and his fans absolutely love to eat up. Almost every new scene screams of rushed cgi. This is by far my newest favorite movie to **** on. What a glorious mess. Was it better than the original? No, but it did make a few of the fight scenes better. Also.... the reach around scene.... truly comedic gold. Sadly I am laughing at the movie, not with it. Zack Snyder did not understand Watchmen, and neither understood one of the comics of these characters that he claims to love.

He is the person with the worst reading comprehension I have ever seen.

4 hrs of masturbatory stylistic visuals. One can only watch something in slow motion for so long.
