I will let it be known from the out, I did not like “The Batman”. There were so many things wrong with this movie. For starters who was that person that was supposed to be Bruce Wayne/Batman? This Batman is afraid of heights? When he fights,I will let it be known from the out, I did not like “The Batman”. There were so many things wrong with this movie. For starters who was that person that was supposed to be Bruce Wayne/Batman? This Batman is afraid of heights? When he fights, he actually stumbles when hit by a punch or punches. Meanwhile he is supposed to wear a bullet-proof gear, so that bullets shot at him do nothing, and bounce off him like pop-corn. His armour is strong enough to withstand bullets coming at him at close quarters but not strong enough to absorb punches? This Batman is a walking oxymoron. Then, there is that silly walk, out of the dark to confront some street baddies, at a crime scene, and in a Police station. Talking about the Police Station, what is Batman doing at a Police Station? He seemed like a wanna-be sleuth volunteering to help the police with errands to buy doughnuts and coffee, hoping that one day he would some how get involved in the real crime-investigation stuff. How pathetic. The Batman portrayed in “The Batman” was anything but the Batman expected. This stripped down, brooding, detached version, made the character so ordinary. What is the point of dressing someone up in so much gear with all the gizmos and gadgets and then making him so ordinary? There is a reason why he is called a superhero. Batman either is or is not. If he is not, then get rid of the whole gear, which makes him look overdressed. Also, why did it take so long for the bat mobile to make an appearance, one of the bright spots in the movie? The bat cycle on the other hand just looked like an ordinary motorbike. To make bad, worse, all of the story unfolds over an unnecessarily long duration. No marks for guessing what my rating of this movie is.… Expand

WTF is wrong in Hollywood? There's no one there that still know how to make movies anymore?
This thing was horrendous and boring.

A great companion piece, if not direct spinoff of the Batwoman television series. The second i saw robert p's facial expression for the first time i knew i was in for a rough time.

Exactly what I feared it would be. Twilight meets Batman. FOR 3 HOURS! To top it off it takes itself way too seriously for a film about a man running around in mascara and rubber PJ's. Please guys, do we really need all those cinecomics? Are you able to enjoy also well made movies? Masks, bad shot fights, terrible screenplay. No visual beauty, no content. Nothing.

Long and dragged out. Terrible editing and plot. The scenes were so disjointed it was difficult to even understand what was going on. Half the theatre had left before it ended on a 6 o clock showing. Massive disappointment.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. OK, There are spoilers in this writeup. This is your warning. The first thing I will say is Christopher Nolan set the bar very high. To this day I still watch the original trilogy many times and love them to bits. There were subtle issues like Bane should have been played by a bigger Spanish actor, or that Ra's al Ghul should have been played by a more Asian actor. Point noted, but the characters and their portrayal in the films were very good.
Coming back to The Batman. Batman was casted perfectly, the film was dark and music / atmosphere superb. Where the film let itself down. Here we go..... Batman came across weak, direct in confrontations, no real strategy, takes gunshot hits, rifle hits direct to body and carries on fighting. The fight sequences were sloppy. Now Batman wears black, he comes out at night for a reason. Where were his weapons, stealth, use of the darkness, smoke, stun grenades, strategy. His an expert martial artist, knows ninjutsu, the art of deception. Remember that starting out with less kit. The man should have been more stealth, more indirect, more strategy His not starting out, his already equipped mentally and physically. The guy knows why his doing this. If you want to know more about what I mean. Play the games Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins and Arkham Knights on the ps3, ps4. Play the games in normal mode and go up against the enemies directly with no strategy and you will see what happens. Batman dies. Remember this very important thing when you are watching batman films. His not a f$%king super hero with special powers that protect him. His just a good hearted, righteous rich kid, who's parents were murdered. So he decides to do something to make a difference for the people of Gotham. Now this is why I love and respect Batman / Bruce Wayne so much. He has all the money in the world and can move on and live a wonderful comfortable life in rich surroundings. But no, he makes a stand for justice, and to do the right thing, and bring criminals to justice. Using his money to aid him.
The casting of Catwoman as a black woman, changing her background, for me was wrong. The casting of Commissioner Gordan as a black man was wrong. Went against the batman lore and the comics in my eyes. I'm sorry but if you don't like this, tough. I have nothing against black actors. One of my best is Morgan Freeman. Love the guy. Watch some of his films like The Shawshank Redemption.
Now we move on to the story, the riddler and the penguin were not vicious, evil enough. These are f$%ked up in the head characters. They did not scare or intimidate. Think of the joker in The dark Knight. This guy f$%king put you in your place. He made you feel uneasy, uncomfortable, scared. Personally if I'd had to be close to the joker. I'd be 10 feet away with a automatic machine gun pointed to his head. One move and his dead. That's how much I'd trust the guy. A f$%ked up in the head, unpredictable guy.
Now when you point a gun at your enemy at point blank range. What I would like to know is how the f$%k did catwoman miss her f$%king target. Secondly when the lady going for election gets shot in the stomach by a sniper round. How the f$%k did she survive that. Thirdly how does batman survive being shot by multiple attackers with automatic machine guns at point blank range and beats them all up. Please help me on these points. Catwoman manages to conceal a gun and get past Falcone's security. What rubbish. The action sequences were boring and the final sequence boring. What I would like to know is where did the f$%king $200 million in making the film go. Did the actors get most of it. Because I sure hell did not see much in the film.
Go if you must to watch it and see for yourself. But I think these days cinema has been going downhill for the last 15 years. The reviewers have been bought and there is no originality or risk any more in making controversial films any more. On top of this we now have the Woke **** So this is my opinion. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Such a horrible film. There was zero character development, at all. Made the story feel so disjointed. Felt like someone drew up a storyboard and was shooting scenes of it, and didn’t really care how they were strung together. Did anyone notice that Bruce was out of suit maybe for 5.5 minutes combined? Literally no lines outside of him being in his Batman persona (fighting crime!) so no chance to earn any depth. Possibly one of the worst scripts of all time. Love Rob, but there’s only so much you can do with a horrible character and horrible script and direction. Did anyone else die a little Inside when he went to the club with his hair over his face? Like an emo 00’s kid. And the casting. THE CASTING. Jeffrey Wright, while generally a good actor, was not meant for this role. I cringed every time he was on screen. Gollum/Snoke, while an AMAZING actor, is NOT Alfred. Such an odd and ill fitting choice. Zoe Kravitz is generally a bad actor imo, and the script just sent her plummeting. Can we talk about her characters big reveal with the falcon being her dad? And then what? What did we do with this info thereafter? How did it further the story? Can we talk about the weird ass “woke” lines. “They’re just a bunch of straight white privileged **** - says to a straight white male. “Let’s take down those hedge fund guys” -says to a hedge fund guy. I consider myself “woke”, but my dude, make it in character and canon. Literally pulls you right out. And the Riddler talking to his followers like a **** twitch streamer? What’s going on in this movie? Visually it was pleasing, hence my 2. That’s the only praise I can give. Rob as Batman is good, as Bruce is horrible. As Bruce, felt like a twilight rendition with his angst emo-ness.… Expand

This was bad - no chemistry between the main cast, plot that is just a collection of crime scenes like in a video game, the whole revelation about the rata alada was ridiculous. I laughed at some scenes that wew supposed to be dramatic. Not worth the time. Patterson does not pull the character off, which makes most of the movie hard to engage with. Stick with Christian bales version - head and shoulders above what this attempts to achieve.

What is going on with this people? The Metacritic score is so unreal with the reality!!! Probably a lot o bots being working here. So far 760 positive, 69 mixed, 90 negative!!! This is so bad. We were cracking up at the terrible dialogue, bizarre music choices, and above all Pattinson's mopey mopey daddy-issues Batman. And his big, big, clunky boots. I guess there was a desire for a post-Joker Batman, but turning a villain into an antihero (as in Joker) and turning a hero into a sad sack aren't the same thing. Come. On. Batman's supposed to be a classic hero, motivated by a desire to avenge his family and clean up his city. This guy is a depressive insomniac who wears lots of eye makeup and hates everyone. I didn't understand for a second what was supposed to be motivating him. He seemed drugged and bored the entire film. When Catwoman kissed him, I thought he was going to start crying about being aggressed.… Expand

Apparemment, ils ne savaient plus comment l’appeler ce nouveau « Batman »… alors, un mange-merde a suggéré… « The Batman ». M’enfin bref, ce nouveau Batmou est aussi mou et bavard que les précédents, ceux de Nolan. Et pour cause, puisqu’il dure lui aussi pas loin de3 plombes ! tu m’étonnes que le machin n’avance pas… Très peu d’action et plein de blabla de merde. D’autant que l’intrigue n’intrigue pas mais nous passe au contraire carrément par dessus la tête.

En outre, la « Catwoman » est très décevante et n’a que ses formes pour elle… et par ailleurs, si l’ambiance (très nocturne) est plus proche de l’esprit « Batman », la batmobile sort de chez Mad Max et les tenues apparaissent étrangement bricolées : les super-héros s’équipent en effet entièrement chez Bricorama ! M’enfin bref, c’est de la merde ce Batmou tout mou, ils ont donc (encore) merdé chez DC.… Expand

This movie is just straight up terrible, and if you make it through the olympic marathon run time, you are a greater man than I, Gunga Din. One star for production values. The writing is the worst I've ever seen, as a very longtime fan of such, in a super hero film. That is it. Please stop inflicting this cr*p on us. We have had enough.… Expand

You know how at the end of many Marvel movies, people are waiting around for the after credit "Easter Eggs" - At the end of "The Batman" people were running to the exits! "The Batman" is slow, boring crap. What was Warner Bros. Thinking? Lasy this is just a cosplay batman. No skills non of his gadgets like been able to glide or use smoke pellets, and he's two years in. He'd be dead in first week, it immersion braking. ROBOCOP MEETS BATMAN, The dumbest Batman Yet, 3hrs if disappointments, Batman mingling with cops,Commissioner Gordon exposes himself to working with Batman So The corrupt army of Cops can paint a bulls eye on Gordon's head and family and yet through out my amazement no one ever does. The world's greatest detective reduced to the world dumbest. The whole movie he was chaperones like a special needs students with a Para. Professional. No emotional attachment to any character no one cared for Alfred being in a coma. The movie so terrible the even Colin ferral had to be unrecognizable from the movie as not to be even mentioned in the credits. HIGH HEEL BOOTS why? Raz al ghul must be rolling in his grave. This movie gets a one because it helps worst joker to date. Even My 2yr old son had a harder time figuring riddles out from DORA the explorer then the riddles from the world's dumbest riddler. It is never believable that he can do things you'd expect a super hero to do. The movie is long and predictable and uses the same fundamental plot that is present in all of Nolan's Batman movies i.e some plot to blow up or destroy the city or something along those lines. Its honestly terrible. There's like one or two memorable scenes in the whole movie. The rest is things you've seen countless times.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I understood what the director was going for, however I felt there were so many issues that it made the movie very dislikeable. The script was terrible in places - drawn out and boring, which in turn seemed to make the actors unable to act to the best of their ability. Many scenes could have been cut to 25% of what they were. The camera lens choices were not to my taste, but it worked all together with the feel of the scenes. The actors were very poorly cast in the majority of characters - the only one I liked was Gordon. I do think that if you have seen the Gotham series then that may have spoiled batman films as it is an incredible series with great character development (of which there was none in this film). The romance between Batman and Catwoman was so wooden and unnatural, like there was no chemistry at all. It got to the point in the film that whenever there was extended sections that could have been a quarter of the length, I just found it laughable. I'm glad some people enjoyed the film but please compare it to a number of films and series of the same type before you decide that this is in the realm of good.
Would never watch this again and would avoid any future ones in the same series.… Expand

* He walks straight into room without any tactic or minding his surroundings. You know how he use to be silent and sneaky? Now he just walks in with his heavy boots clomping slowly into the room. He's walking like a kid that borrowed daddy's shoes and **** his pants. Its so weird.
* They only shoot him right at the strongest points of his armour. They even walk up to him and shoot point blank in the stomach even though they know its bulletproof. Maybe aim for the face? Nah!
* But that probably wouldnt work either since he literally takes a bomb to the face and nothing happends. And its straight in the face from a decimeter or two away. Not even a bruise.
* Batman doesnt kill. But still causes the biggest traffic accident in the citys history killing a dozen people and doesnt care. For no reason, the payoff was nothing.
* He has one personality trait: Sadness. Remember Afflecks sad Batman picture? Thats him for the entire movie. He has no other emotions. None. At one point he's angry but still manages to be sad at the same time. Another time he's sad and sad at the same time.
* You want some light flares? Well you got them! Especially since its constantly raining heavily and the camera has to be filming straight into car and motorcycle beams. But dont worry, you also get muzzle flares straight into your face because why not.

Just watch Batman Begins again. This is so bad.… Expand

As a movie, THE BATMAN is mediocre at best. The first part feels like a big budget law and order episode set in the DC universe. There’s barely any action and it’s just too long.
RIP batman, we’ll always have the Nolan (and Burton) movies.… Expand

I have never felt so bored by a Batman film before. It was 3 hours of slow, tedious dialogue, uninspired presentation, and sad sad characters (I never knew Batman could be so emo. That was A LOT of mascara under the eyes). And allow me toI have never felt so bored by a Batman film before. And allow me to educate the film makers from someone who actually reads comics, because I know they don't. Superheroes are larger than reality -- that's what makes them exciting. Previous Batman films had exotic tech, wild characters that wouldn't exist in real life, and Batman did things that stretch the imagination of what is possible for mortal men. But apparently, such extras are not included with Emo Batman action figures. He punches guys, hoists himself with grappling hooks, the bat mobile is a modified 80s muscle car, and uses a stupid base jumping suit to fall with style. It's a far cry from remote attracted bat swarms, trick baterangs, and outrageous vehicles like the Knightcrawler.

And don't think the blatant racism and sexism wasn't apparent. I see you DC and Warner Bros. I see how every evil character was a white man, and barring Batman and Alfred every decent character was black or Hispanic. I see your blackwashing and the white erasure of originally white characters like Selena and Jim. I see you getting Selena to specifically call the city of Gotham a place for "white privilaged **** I see you turning the Riddler into a sad, mentally unstable loner reminiscent of the mass shooters leftwing media likes to propagandize to engender misandry and white hatred. I see you and I am calling you out for your racism and sexism and am going to tell everyone it was you're companies.
And if you dear reader downvote my review based on this second paragraph, then I say with complete sincerity that you are a sexist and racist too and you should be ashamed of your sad, hate filled life.… Expand

The movie has some nice action scenes, that’s where Putitinson holds his mouth. But in between it is so utter boring. The Riddler is portrayed as a pathetic nerd. AND the leather mask from batman is bullet proof. Pityhisson should have died at least 5 times during all the shootings, but nooo … the bullets hit only his body armour which is indestructible yet still so easy to move in.… Expand

In the first fight a predominantly white gang (now we know it's fiction) tries to convince an innocent black teen to commit a crime. He can't do it, of course, he's just too good. It felt and looked childish with no potential dialogue for the entire movie, it all just feels like a huge stall. And for about 1 hour we had this horrible riddles of "what is a rat with wings " (in spanish, as if it wasnt enoufh of a joke). The worst is that no one knew the answer.,. It reminded me of a bad re make of the movie Seven. It just doesn't make very much sense, and Robert Patterson looks and acts like an emo Heroin junkie. There is a lot going on, but it doesn't really seem coherent. Similar to how the last season of Game of thrones jumped around to cover a lot of ground. I liked the idea of the how bruce wayne's family had done some shady stuff, and the riddler was trying to expose it, but patterson is just such a bad actor its to hard to sit through. Look at Patterson and jeffery wright trying to solve a mystery and compare that to brad pit and morgan freeman in seven. The imagery is way to similar. With all that money they couldn't come up with something original smh… Expand

Maybe a dark sherlock....or saw movie

But definitely not Batman.

It is a shame...too overrated

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all the actor Robert Pattison don’t portray the Batman character well.. secondly the director and writer made a boring story. The film was too dark as if everything was filmed at nights (I hate movies that 90% were shot at night, it’s too annoying). The bike and car wasn’t technically advanced for a character like Batman who is known for his intense advanced technology bike, car and flying pad. The story was awful, it was as if the director or writer got bored or confused midpoint to find a way to conclude the tiring storyline. Riddle actor portrayal actor was totally wrong. Total waste of 3 hours… Expand

I looked at this rubbish with high expectations. The film is so boring and so sluggish and tough as leather that it could well be used as a sleeping pill. Why does the whole film have to be so dark that you can't really see anything, why? TheI looked at this rubbish with high expectations.
