Robert Pattinson as Batman, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and John Torturro as Carmine Falcone were the standouts to me. As a Batman fan I adored the comic book adaptions this movie took from such as The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Earth One, Ego, Year One, and some Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo stories. Looking forward to the future of this iteration. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie was well made and well done tbh

1. The film goes the way DC should be, dark gritty, and more. Jokes like the thumb drive joke are how DC comedy is supposed to work not putting some random one or two liners in between
2. The story is perfect and isn't rushed, this is a big plus for me the film was perfectly made and no part for me felt rushed, each character was given time to establish themselves properly and set their own stage. Catwoman was made clear that she doesn't want to be with batman and their part was slowly built up the revelation that Carmine is the main villain and he had Bruce parent murdered was also well handeled.
3. The character selection was great and the way each character was designed and Gotham was just perfect.THe movie is probably one of the most comic-accurate batman films I ever saw and am happy with the way they made it. Riddler Carmine Falcone they were just perfect.
4. The movie has the best soundtrack to any superhero movie till date for me
5. EVen though the movie was amazing one major drawback has to be the climax. It felt like the climax was draggggged a lot and could have been a lot quicker. Cutting at least 8 min.
Other than that finally a batman movie and a great DC movie.

This is my favorite depiction of Gotham thus far and I think Pattinson is my favorite live action version of Batman from a portrayal/performance point of view. Some of the dialogue could be better, it wasn't awful, but it was just generic at times. The pacing sort of dips in the middle of the film and some key story beats could've been better explored, but the positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion. Overall, I think this was a great Batman film and I can't wait for more of this version in the future. P.S. Please introduce some fantastical elements and a R rating to really set it apart from past live iterations. There's so much potential. Expand

It certainly is the top 3 Batman movies of all time . There shouldn't even be debate but the cinematography is breathtaking , each and every frame is piece of art , it's a never ending visual treat and to be honest it really does stand apart from other marvel movies which look so dull . The soundtrack ( Michael Giacchino deserves a Oscar ) it is palpitating and hair raising , it really makes you step into the moment . The performances are exceptional by each and everyone. Robert is the "Batman" and he really **** nails it , his eyes draw connects with you at each and every level , Paul Dano does brilliantly too although some of the scenes I feel like could be written a bit more well my Matt Reeves , The supporting casts Gordon , Penguin and Catwoman every one has a well written plot (Penguin steals the show along with Batman) . This Gotham is dark and gritty and it's one of the most comic accurate Gotham we have ever witnessed and this young Bruce Wayne fits perfectly in this world
This really is one of the best Movie of this 2022 and superhero genre

Compared to other hero movies, the seriousness and atmosphere of the movie was very good. I was very happy that there are no unnecessary dialogues and non-funny jokes in hero movies that are increasingly made for children today. there is a batman with traumas, you understand that he did it for a purpose, not as a hobby, I like it very much in terms of character processing and character development. It has a successful and binding scenario, the plot is disconnected and not boring. This is not only an action movie, but also a drama and detective. Well-crafted, beautifully realistic action scenes and the fact that Batman sometimes stumbles instead of turning everyone in front of him into a punching bag has added a depth to the action scenes, the atmosphere of the city is very good and the effects are also very good and we see a Batman who complies with the laws of physics. My heat may not be important for everyone, after all, it's a hero movie, but in my opinion, every movie should have a little realism, it was very good in costume and other tools, so if I need to cut it short, we have a great Batman movie, remember these are my opinions on the movie, only batman will beat the baddies, save the city mode The viewers may not enjoy it that much, but this movie was just for me and I think the general audience will like it, in short, Great Movie Robert Pattinson's acting and adaptation to the role was also great. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

A new era for Batman has begun, and it's really exciting.

In this neo-noir thriller, Batman goes full detective, something that wasn't developed at all in previous film versions. This time, we get a cunning protagonist that, with the audience, connects the dots that will let him solve the case, along with some hurtful doubts about his family.

Robert Pattinson shines as the titular superhero. Although we don't get to see him that much as Bruce Wayne, his portrayal of the masked vigilante probably it's my favorite so far. His Batman exudes fear at every moment, but he's no perfect hero. The fact that the story is placed in his first years of crime-fighting lets us see some of his clumsiness in various situations, stressing his vulnerabilities. But it's the emotional ones that make his character more compelling and nuanced. His obsession with making a difference backfires immensely, and this is the core of the story. After all, maybe vengeance is not enough. Hope we get to keep this version for a long time.

The rest of the cast is great too. Zoë Kravitz, as Catwoman, flirts with the femme fatale trope for a moment, but her character develops into something of her own along the way. Jeffrey Wright is phenomenal as Commissioner Gordon, unexpectedly delivering some comic relief (I know what it sounds like, but just wait to see it). But Paul Dano is the true star here as the psychopathic Riddler. Even with his mask on you can feel the insanity with which he portrays the iconic villain. Think of him as the Zodiac killer with Jover vibes.

Overall, this is a solid film and a great way to start a new trilogy. Definitely want to see what happens next in this version of Gotham, especially because of the state left at the end. Here's to emo Batman supremacy!

It is 'The Detective Comic' brought to life and for the first time, we can see why The Batman is known as the world's greatest detective. It is a great film noir detective, so much so that it is literally a superhero film second. There are no memorable set pieces sans one, which is a great chase scene. The casts? Absolutely great, with Pattison bringing in an interpretation of the character never seen before. But the best performance? None other than Colin Farrell as the Penguin! He is utterly unrecognizable and should I say Oscar worthy. Other than that, incredible production designs as per usual from WB. Biggest weakness of the film? It is 3 hours long and while it made the story coherent, as a movie it does it a bit disservice. Other than that, a great start for this franchise. Expand

It starts out with the murder of a Gotham city mayoral candidate by the Riddler and we are told Bruce Wayne has been Batman for 2 years fighting crime. We see Batman apprehend some random thugs early on in the Gotham streets. Batman meets with Gordon to solve the Riddler mystery, and the Riddler leaves behind riddles as clues. The Riddler is sort of like Jigsaw in the Saw movies, the serial killer in Seven, or the Zodiac killer and he wears a green domino mask with a green jumpsuit with a question mark on it. The Penguin is also in the movie as a mob boss and he's somehow involved in the whole ruse. A sexy Zoe Kravitz plays Selina Kyle or Catwoman, a cat burglar, who wants revenge on Carmine Falcone for killing her roommate. She is Batman's love interest in the movie. Overall, the movie has some great action and cinematography and is pretty tense. It keeps you on edge. One criticism I have is that it was a little too gritty and dark, and took itself a little too seriously. There is very little in the way of comic relief, but that's usually what you can expect from the Batman movies. Expand

Visually it's a cross between Seven and Blade Runner. And you'd have to go back to the Burton's films that explore what an isolated, f'd up person Bruce Wayne/Batman truly is. As Willow Pill described being a drag queen as "mental illness with rhinestones", the Batman could be described as mental illness with costumes. And money. And weapons. And most of all, vengeance. The cast from Robert Patterson, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, to John Turturro and of course, Colin Farrell covered in prosthetics and dialing in a performance just this side of Al Pacino in Dick Tracy, is marvelous. And Paul Dano is a psychopath for the ages. My only complaints is that the film veers towards Roland Emmerich territory in the final acts, and the fact that in such a grounded film, Alfred survives an explosive attack, hospitalized, with hardly a scratch. Overwise, great job. Expand

Instead of aliens invading from another dimension, we have a murderer on the lose in Gotham assassinating city officials. The Batman excels when it delves into the intrigue of corruption and violence that plagues the city, and for most of the first 2 hours it succeeds at drawing you into that grim and complex world where lofty ideals come face-to-face with brutal personal violence. Around 2 hours and 15 minutes the film comes to what feels like a fitting conclusion, and then...

The biggest drawback is the weak final act which comes out of nowhere and contradicts the villain's entire story arc. The closing set piece is not bad, it's just considerably weaker than the stronger parts that preceded it.

A totally devastated, dirty, criminal city. Bruce is quite tormented. Gordon and Bruce play 2 detectives investigating all the rottenness of the police, politicians v and millionaires. It's very reminiscent of "Se7en". The rider is totally insane and at the end you have to hit people to make them react (just like Se7en's killer). Impeccable performances. Edward Cullen goes from being a stupid vampire to a smart bat. Catwoman does a good job. Falcone is the fearsome crime boss and the Penguin is not far behind climbing the rungs. Bruce's parents are not totally clean. The final cameo lets you wanting to see what is to come for the saga. It is a pretty long and slow movie, it is not for everyone, many will be bored with Batman's voice off saying his thoughts. It is definitely not for children. There isn't much action but it has its 3 moments so you don't get bored with a Batman unleashed. In the end, Batman is what he should be: an altruistic vigilante capable of doing the impossible to save his beloved Gotham. If they took 20 minutes out of the 3 hours it would probably be better. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A very good batman & detective movie that keeps you on the edge of your seath when things go fast. The movie ofcourse builts up the first part and succeeds in that. You know elements of the story , but in the 2nd half all the dots connect. The batman does his role really well. Same for zoe. Although im not fully shure that i really like her character. The riddler poses an excellent threat by his insanity and intelligence. The penguin feels a bit weak but at the same time he is used well enough in the movie to make him feel relevant in the story. He def has more up in his sleeve. Overall the movie has no big flaws that i can name but the dark knight just did everything better. Outside of the visuals , nothing is amazing just great. Yeah the romance came kinda out of nowhere. Which is a shame since it's such a hollywood cliche to have barely any romance between 2 charactersand yet they kiss :|

The action is pretty good, although very focused around darker settings. The performance of Pattinson is really intense, and most surprisingly Zoe is quite strong and nuance in her rendition of catwoman. And I feel like Jeffrey Wright did cement all those younger actors around him. The Fx are minimal and very discreet, which is a good thing. The music is maybe the part where I felt the movie was very weak. The villains are a blast to watch and I kind of wanted more in the end. I give it 78%. I loved the more realistic view and the acting in this movie. Yet you don't really know in which Earth number universe, it is setup (the part where DC just can't make up it's mind) Expand

And didThe hype is huge. On the one hand this is due to the ambition of what Matt Reeves has shown so far of his vision, and on the other it's due to those looking to judge Robert Pattinson and his interpretation of such an iconic character. And did The Batman deliver?
I believe it did. Starting with the dark and noir tone and also its touch of Zodiac and Se7en, The Batman makes its identity clear.
This is a Gotham rotting in its own decay of police and political corruption, while the gangsters control everything under the shadows.

It has been mentioned countless times that we're seeing a young and still naive Batman, and while that is integral to the plot, the overall approach is to show the character as the detective, not the superhero. Something that not even Christopher Nolan himself knew how to explore. Robert Pattinson in my opinion does the job and presents a more than solid Batman. His Bruce Wayne appears very little and that one is nothing special. Zoë Kravitz was good, but she doesn't do anything special. At least she takes a more active role than Anne Hathaway did.

Paul Dano perhaps plays too much the prototypical psycho villain that's smarter than the hero, but Dano is too good an actor to fall into that hole and manages to make a notable impression as the Riddler. Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell make up the rest of the characters who have more weight on screen and all of them do a fine job, with a special mention for Farrell who's completely unrecognizable behind that makeup and who can become an excellent villain in the planned sequels if given more to do. I don't know what plans DC and Warner have for their future cinematic universe, and with this film, they'll be under even more pressure because even though the events of The Batman are set in another universe, its style, tone, atmosphere and above all quality, completely set it apart from anything the studio has been doing since Man of Steel. Many may be fooled, but Batman is the flagship of both companies and is the one who has kept them in the game.
So much so that even The Flash will have two Batmans present, and DC Comics has the market saturated with comics of the character and his allies. Here they are starting over with him and I was very happy with what I saw, and I'm more than excited to see what's next with Reeves and this cast at the helm. And as a small recommendation, if you can see it in IMAX, do it.
The sound and images there are mind-blowing.

And this Gotham could easily be the nameless city where Se7en took place, including the incessant precipitation. The talent that Matt Reeves assembled for this one is beautifully apparent, from the set design to the cinematography (so many shots deserved to be paused and marveled at), casting to scripting (the script’s frequent use of silence to convey meaning is masterful), and his direction is spot on. Easily one of the best Batmans out there, but the suffocating dreariness of it leaves me wondering how often I’ll want to watch it again. And I have to ask - are we SURE that was Colin Farrell? This Movie is grotesquely gorgeous, Gotham is dirt, full of corruption, just like the comics.
Pattison is incredible, but i really belive that he needs to gain some weight for the role (i know that he's a younger version for the bats, but he's very skinny to the role, in my opinion.)
But, the movie is incredibly, if you like the comics, please go watch this.

This was the best Batman movie ever, in my opinion. Robert Pattinson was an amazing batman. (It's funny, he went from a vampire to a bat lol) There were only little things I didn't like about him, but those things didn't ruin anything for me. I loved him overall. He is one of the best Batman's I've ever seen. The Riddler was PHENOMENAL! Perfection! One of the best, if not the best, villains I have ever seen on screen. Jeffrey Wright was born to be Gordon. Performed perfectly. Movies like this, and 2019 Joker, are what I've been wanting to see for a long time. I love the dark stories as if it's real life. I'm sick of all the kiddie superhero movies. I want the dark stuff. I want the passion and the real love for movies and making stories that make you feel on edge. 2019 Joker and this Batman did exactly that for me. I truly do hope they continue down this road with many other DC villains and heroes. There were only a few things I didn't like about this movie, but I heavily enjoyed it overall. A few cringe scenes. I think Colin Farrell did a perfect Penguin, it's crazy how much they changed his appearance, but the character just didn't resonate with me personally. I didn't feel a connection with that character. I also did not like Catwoman. I heavily recommended this movie. I will be watching more than once for sure. 8.5/10 Expand

This is, understandably, an urban, gritty, often tense and claustrophobic, dark and somewhat unsettling watch, continuing the tone and themes of previous Batman films (think the Dark Knight films).

While it is bleak, the cast give good performances (particularly Robert Pattinson in the titular role and Andy Serkis as his butler, Alfred) and I thought the plot certainly intriguing enough to keep me watching through the close to 3 hour runtime, which certainly isn't bad. I imagine fans of the previous Batman films will likely really enjoy this, so yes, I'd recommend it, though it's fair to say that if softly spoken whispery type talk isn't your thing, then you may not enjoy this. There are some pretty thrilling car chases though!.

Robert Pattinson is THE BATMAN, absolutely my favorite performance nailed it, Colin Farrel and Jeffrey Wright were top-notch. The chemistry between Batman and Gordon was incredible. Paul Dano was very good, but nothing tops our boy, Heath.
The murder mystery noir was the right choice, absolutely loved it.
I loved the narration and it's something I am very curious to see in future chapters.
This movie kept me engaged the whole time.

Although with everything said, no, it isn't perfect.
Even though it has 3 hours, matt was able to leave some gaps and wholes in some events. For example, batman gets hit or is damaged and needs to recover, and in the next scene he is completely fine and it's like nothing happened. The relationship with Selina happens from thin air, it was very direct and without any emotion, practically rushed.
Even the cinematography was amazing, the movie itself is poor on lighting so there were scenes where you couldn't see anything, now I think there are two things to blame here, first, the projector at the cinema that I watched is known for having low brightness and I felt that in many other movies, second, the movie itself is dark, it occurs mainly at night and that's fine but at least give us the pleasure to enjoy every scene with enough lighting.

For now, a 3.5/5, after a rewatch it might not change, but I may become more assertive in some areas.

I hope Matt and everyone listen to the negative sides and try to learn from their mistakes that might have put the movie at risk.

It's similarly grounded like Nolan's Batman movies but much darker, grittier, and more brutal. As a big fan of Batman graphic novels, this film felt more like a Batman film than any Batman movie that came before it (not saying it's the best Batman film). The Batman's character arc was a highlight of the movie for me. There were several moments in the first two-thirds of the film where I remember thinking "this is just retreading ideas that I recall from Nolan's The Dark Knight," but the ending actually expanded on these ideas in a really refreshing way that I'm surprised Nolan didn't think of himself. I'm very excited for the inevitable sequel.

A controversial take, but not a negative critique is that the cast was simply good. Not great. Looking back what previous actors brought to the table, I don't think this cast did anything special. Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeifer, Danny Devito, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Cillian Murphy, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, and Tom Hardy were truly memorable and awe inspiring in their total embodiment of their characters. Although this could change over the course of the sequels, I think that most of the cast of this film don't achieve similar heights. They are good, but not great. Pattison really didn't have much to do other than walk, coldly deliver lines, grunt, and fight, but he did it all well. Wright as Gordon didn't really bring anything new to the table in my opinion, but again his performance was solid. Serkis as Alfred was completely forgettable and hopefully they give him more to do in the sequels. Dano, Ferrel, and Kravitz were just short of great. Dano spent most of the movie behind a mask and I often felt like his sporadic emotional fluctuations when delivering his lines were less frightening and more distracting - reminding me of every other actor whose portrayed the unhinged psychopath this way, pulling me away from the movie. Ferrel's Penguin has me thinking The Batman is an earlier frontrunner for Best Makeup, but his character was nothing more than a club owning mobster. Between the makeup and his performance, it could have been "great" if he'd have been given more to do. The best part about Kravitz was the story and fight choreography. But her actual performance felt like a retread of what's already been done and I didn't really feel any actual chemistry between her and Batman, so their intimate moments felt a bit forced. Again, definitely not bad and her character's story combined with Arkham style fight choreography elevated her performance above "good" but just short of "great." The only character that I thought was "great" is someone I haven't really seen anyone talk about... John Turturro's Carmine Falcone. Even with only a short amount of screen time, he stole most scenes he was in. His delivery was subtle, yet intimidating. He never took off his sunglasses, but you could feel his eyes penetrating each character he gazed at. I don't think he's getting nearly enough credit for his role in the film.

The only valid negative is that this movie was too long. On that note, I don't know what I'd cut from it cause it really didn't have any filler. I would love to see a director's cut that potentially cut the movie into 3-4 separate chapters/episodes like Tarantino's Hateful Eight.

Building on a 100% neo-noir setting, amazing photography and an unforgettable soundtrack, Matt Reeves has created a powerful film with great sequences (Batman intro, church, car chase, Riddler-Batman conversation). Dano, Kravitz and Wright do their best, not envying their predecessors in the roles. Pattinson, for his part, is a very good Batman, although I would have liked to see more of Bruce Wayne, to feel more of his pain (probably Reeves' intention is to show you a Bruce Wayne still reluctant to fully show his "scars", maskless).

The 3-hour running time flies by, which speaks very well of the script and its pacing, dosing drama, thriller and action. Not to mention the parallels with Zodiac and especially Se7en, both in particular elements of the plot, as in the main themes of the story. My main problem with the film was that I felt that it went from more to less and that, even though I was invested on it, I didn't fully connect with the Falcone//mob plot.

The Jury was out for me on pattison however he did just fine, the dark and brooding recluse who operated at night and was clearly angry at the loss of his family isnt something we have seen before, it takes some adjusting to.
For people that were bored, they were obviously expecting the usual action throughout rather than this being very story driven and away from the superhero norm.

Many iconic scenes in this movie too, as people already pointed out.

The cast is really great, loved Zoe and Robert does a really good job, at least in costume. As Bruce Wayne he is kinda lacking for me. The effects are really good, as is the action.

Two things that I didn't like. The movie is too dark, if that trend continues, the next Batman will be unwatchable. And it is a bit too long, it should have been trimmed down at least a bit.

All in all, I highly recommend it!

amateur technical review of "The Batman" by: Lucas Freire

Photography:
I don't remember a superhero movie with as much attention from the producers as "The Batman". It's as if they really wanted to be remembered for photography, the fact that the color palettes and the city of "Gotham" were very special and combined just made it all better. With landscapes seen from large buildings and the mix of orange and bitterness of "Gotham" shows that they used the advantage of the character "Batman" to show everything from above.

Tone:
The atmosphere that the film passes is good, but it leaves something to be desired when we talk about "Batman", I thought that in good parts we could have understanding and more perception of what is happening. In the interrogation scene of "Batman" and "Riddler" there could be more use of sounds to create a mood, although it is easy to identify the tension we would still have more use. Not only in this part, but in several moments of acute tension, the film fails to fix the viewer's large and super attentive eyes.

Soundtrack and sounds:
Simply fantastic the soundtrack, along with the photography of "Gotham" everything was harmonic. The sung and applied form of the song "Ave Maria" is also friendly to the dark and macabre mood of the film. The specific sounds I found to be desired, but not so much. This is to blame for the film's miserable failure to hold the viewer's attention in moments of tension, even having some more fixating dialogue.

Acting: Fortunately don't identify a tempting flaw either by facial or body expression. First I want to talk about the facial which is one of the most important, seeing the cast we can see that it is a first class group with a lot of experience, so there is not much to highlight besides the great faces and mouths of Robert Pattinson both as "Batman" or as " Bruce Wayne", we can see the anger, hatred, fear, surprise, despair mainly and bitterness. But not only him but everyone else has his essence in the film, sensual vulgarity, superiority, distrust and others. In terms of body, I will focus exclusively on combat, which we can say calmly is the best film in terms of the fight choreography of the "superheroes" genre, "Batman" is light, fluid and at its maximum strength, the use of environment objects is very good, the fighting style and combat in general seem very real and with a krav-maga feel.

Great movie. Nice start to the franchise and I hope we get more. While a little long, the action was spaced out perfectly and the ending really brings Batman’s arc full circle.

▪ Text: Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy are praised as one of the greatest superhero movies, as its prestige set an unsurmountable standard for later productions. After a decade, The Batman is agreeably the most successful resurrection of the icon.

Suppressive close-ups, contrasting lighting, and ceaseless soundtrack all display the palpable tension of Gotham city and its humid hellholes. Where the neon light couldn’t reach, even a silent frame of lurking shadow could instill fear into the audience.

Regarding characters, Andy Serkis’ veteran version of Alfred, Colin Farrell’s perfidious Penguin, and Jeffrey Wright’s faithful Gordon all provide new vibes that are unique from the previous movies. With a pair of nerdy glasses, Paul Dano performs a lethally menacing sociopath, child of solitude and envy, who’s distorted wish for a purge of corruption can only be expressed by bloodshed and grotesque riddles. Zoe Kravitz on the other hand, presents an audacious but righteous Catwoman with lineage that motivates her vengeance, as her relationship with Batman develops from enmity to mutual attraction.

Robert Pattinson nailed his character, through the detailed investigation and powerful punches, introducing an uncompromising, reckless, but dutiful vigilante. Even masked, every glimpse and stare of Pattinson fully demonstrates the Batman’s hesitation, fury, and vigilance. Bruce Wayne lacks affection, and Batman lacks recognition; Bruce grows by heartfully loving Selena and accepting the sin of his family, Batman grows by becoming a savior, a fearsome symbol, a stray of light that wades through murk and leads the people. Whether frantic mobs or hypocritical politicians, it is convincing that the city’s depravity can be arbitrated by our hero.

The only things I have to complain: firstly, can we not whisper through all our dialogues? It’s extremely tiring to completely understand the plot especially for a detective movie. Secondly, because of the singular narration, the pacing of the film is slightly slow. This can be resolved by combining conversations with ongoing events to increase tension and speed up storytelling (which is what Nolan did to earn 9.1 for Dark Knight on imdb).

Overall, Batman meets my expectation and impresses me with a different tone from the other DC movies. An absolute must-see.

However, after watching the film, I was impressed. Matt Reeves is one of my favorite directors and I'm glad he finally got his chance to deliver a legitimate blockbuster film. But that does not mean that the film is perfect. First off, lets talk about the pros of this film. 1. Pattinson is a great Batman. More so, he is a great Batman that is just starting out as Batman. 2. It shows more of the detective side of Batman that people have come to know and love about Batman. 3. The action is phenomenal. Great cinematography, great sequences, great special and practical effects.
4. Paul Dano as The Riddler and Colin Farrell as The Penguin are amazing. 5. The Music and Sound Design for this Batman are top Tier

All of these things are great about the Batman movie, but now lets talk about the not so great parts.

The Cons:
1. Pattinson is not a great Bruce Wayne.
2. Catwoman is just ok
3. Andy Serkis as Alfred could have been better 4. The pacing is a little off in some parts of the film
5. Sequel Baiting

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Consistently engaging movie. It is similar to the dark style of Christopher Nolan's version of Batman Begins. Robert Pattinson performs strongly as Batman, but weakly Bruce Wayne. The Riddler's role was also engaging, yet his costume was poorly designed. It is not expected to be compared to Jim Carrey's version, but was dull, as a less jarring version of Bane. The bit of delusion thrown in towards the end was refreshing. Expand

The batman movie we all have been waiting for ladies and gentleman. How's the movie? it Depends on your expectations it Depends on your expectations.
It’s dark and gritty It knows you know the backstory of Batman so it get your right in the story the atmosphere is so well done you just feel like you're in the mean streets of Gotham walking around. The villain is interesting and you understand his point and alot of the character and style and look is inspired from many David Fincher movies and this rookie and emotional batman is really well done it puts you is the shose of bruce wayne special the funeral scene.
but it's really different from Christopher Nolan's version the dark knight is a more urban look for the batman and liked that it's like (you 're in the street going to work and there you see batman chasing the joker in the street with his batmobile.
Matt Reeves's batman really took alot from the comic book and it treats the audience with respect,Many movies don’t pay attention to the world and character mindset that
they’re inviting the audience into but this is done brilliantly.

But just remember that Batman is a fictional character, and while he is relatable to most of the audience do not add realistic details that ruin important factors about the character. The scenes in this film are gritty, Dark and shot cinematically well. Robert Pattison truly earns his role as The Batman, while Zoe Kravitz needs some work as Catwoman (please give her a proper Mask next time), and the chemistry between The Cat and The Bat falls flat. As for the other actors, they are believable and help settle the plot in an amazing manner. The Bat-suit, the Batmobile The Batcycle, the Batclaw and the Batarang are great and are used effectively. The pacing is good, but the amount of time used in this film is long, chop it down to 10-15 minutes, and rework some stretched-out scenes. Batman's Fighting style is tanky which is not bad just let him show off some more agile moves. The music, the atmosphere and the scenery of this film are near perfection this is truly what Gotham looks like and it is introduced incredibly well (Batman's Opening Scene *Chefs Kiss). Is this a masterpiece compared to Nolan's movies...No, this will not appeal to a normal Marvel/Action Moviegoer but damn this is a Great Batman Film, it's a good Thriller and feels like a play with theatrical epic events with a good moral conclusion which fits well with the character. I would recommend seeing The Batman as soon as possible. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this movie was amazing! they really thought of making a good movie rather than just a cliché superhero movie. I wouldn't call this a Comic book movie, it was literal CINEMA and even tho it had its fair share of problems, it was one of the best movies of the last couple of years. the director/cinematographer match was literal perfection. and Paul dano did a wonderful job same as always, and I don't think i need to tell you, Robert Pattinson is not just a pretty boi anymore! his recent movies have been amazing and he is an amazing actor. the only thing i would change is to maybe add 20 more minutes to the movie to see Bruce and Alfred connect a little because their connection wasn't really explored until after Alfred almost died. it would be nice to connect with him a little more before thinking he is dead. overall this movie is amazing and i totally recommend it IF you like long movies. this movie is not for everyone, certainly not for people who just watch comcic book movies. if you like thriller slow paced movie you will fall in love with this movie same as I did. im pretty sure the sequel will be much better as the director will have more freedom Expand
