Loading screens galore, terribly character animations. Have you seen the A.I??? It was supposed to be the best mix of Skyrim and no mans sky but it seems like it’s mostly Skyrim or fallout on a few randomly generated maps. It doesn’t even feel like it’s a fully exploitable planet most of the time. This game simply could’ve copied No mans sky planetary entrance and exited, and the seamlessness and I think it would’ve been much solider. You can fully complete starfield with very little to none dog fights or space battles. Every change in scene comes with a load screen it’s absolutely sickening for this to be a 2023 game. The story is surprisingly short and I don’t have much of a reason keep going, even if I did finish some more quest lines, why would I subject myself to that level of boredom and lifelessness again. I’m moving on. The crew Motorsport, Spiderman 2, Baldurs gate, Jedi Survivors, FF16, etc etc are all much better games to play in 2023. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The most over hyped, over inflated title I've seen in a long time. The character creation is so limited compared to its contemporaries and even previous Bethesda titles. Only 1 kind of blue eye colour but loads of reds and yellows for some reason, and only one type of long beard, and its got a twirly whirly moustache attached to it that you can't change. If you watched streamers talking about the game look at how all their characters look basically the same, you'll see what I mean about limited choice. The story is basic and rushed. The way you obtain a ship is hilarious, some guy turns up and just give it to you, a complete stranger, no questions asked! Also the whole "I touched an artefact and now I have visions" is such an overused trope, Mass effect did it, and did better frankly. The game also stutters, locks up and lags in conversations making it look like a badly dubbed movie. I'm told this is because I have to buy new hardware to run this game. So on top of the £60 for the game, I have to spend an additional £80 to buy a SSD because the game won't run on HDD. My computer is less than 2 years old, it runs most games on ultra, no problem, but starfield runs like a clunky even on low. That just seems like Bethesda designed themselves into a corner, and the only solutions were either spend a lot of money to make it run on standard hardware, or let the customer absorb the cost by making it for SSD only. So they opted for us to pay for their mistake. Just a theory, but seems logical to assume that's what happened. Expand

But armours and other stuf is great. I have to say that this piece of game is delicious. I can stay and watch my ship and armour for hours.

    2. Main story is worst than Fallout 3, even Fallout 4 has better story, where this game has the worst story before this game. Side quest are better, but still tons of fedex.
Imagine that you have to talk with someone at first planet, then you have to back to main npc to another planet. Where are phones, or ship radios?

    3. Exploration is the worst since morrowind. Why at random planet are 3 POIs, Included abandoned fabrics and other buildings. Okey maybe it has sense, cause planets are empty, But in 2300, some of them can be settled. Still why at random planets are the same fabrics with the same loot and enemy spawns x15 etc.

StarField - was to be a homerun! Yet there are thousands of reviews on StarField that reveal the truth of just how much of a FAILURE the game is. I'm here to talk about the one thing NO ONE HAS MENTIONED! The thing that NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT! Prior to the release, after my daughter and I pre-ordered the early access edition - there was an odd selling of Graphics Cards.
Now, while most of you gamers (95% or more) didn't see this as much of anything - I raised a suspicious brow. They're selling a graphics card that, if you purchase it, comes with the game. Does this not* strike anyone as a bit odd? (Was my thoughts). Yet there was all this other talk of being able to stream the game, on a lesser system, and actually play it. So if you think about this, they're pushing new graphics cards with the game included, should you purchase the card... ? (Light Bulb)
Thinking no more about it, we stuck with the preorder only to get the game on the 1st, and get hit with this.....
YOUR GRAPHICS CARD DOES NOT SUPPORT THE GAME.... And that's* when it hit me! The whole selling of the graphics card(s) wasn't so that they could get you a new one - it was because they had already planned to deny most grahpics cards - OFF RIP! That's correct - YOU READ THAT RIGHT - Some gamers (PC) with elite graphics cards were denied at the door to play this game. all because Bethesda made a greedy deal - to try to get you to buy a new graphics card.

And that was when I gave up on Bethesda! From this day forward, I will only purchase their products when they go on sale $20 or less. When Greed makes you sh** on loyal fans, you have lost. Sure Todd and his pals made a lot of money on this game - but you lost a great deal of fans and supporters. May your greed* be your downfall.

There is ONE HUGE problem. There are no 1000 planets. There are actually zero. Why? You land in a generated area. And if you walk to the invisible wall you have to take off and land again. And if you walk to the invisible wall you have to take off and land again. When you land in an area which is as close as possible, this landscape will have no overlapping points with the first area. So the planets are just pictures. They are not there. If they were it would be a 9.0 to 9.5. But without i have to subtract 7 points. And another minus point for the inclusion of crazy modern political correctness ideology.

So what is the "map" of starfield? Imagine grabbing a pack of sheets for your printer. Then going up the empire state building and throwing them down. Throwing them down and watching them fly around in the air. This is starfields "planets". A huge amount of procedurally generated sheets of landscape which have no connection to each other whatsoever and are absolutely independent.
They are also not permanent. The points of interest are being created in your landing zone. But you can not have an endless amount of landing zones on a planet. So your landscape, the buildings and caves you visit just disappear and get deleted sooner or later, if you keep on adding landing zones. Nothing is forever. Things just disappear into nothingness. And the planets are not even there in the first place. All is a lie.

There is also no real space you can travel in. There are only predefined spots in front of a planet. You can not fly around a planet. You just do your things in space with a picture of a fake planet in front of you which is not even there. No way to fly from the earth to the moon. Only fast travel with a loading screen. Movement in space is basically "fast travel- the game". Gets you right to the fun. There is no endless or very high amount of outposts you can build on 1000 real life sized promised planets. Only about 24 after you leveled up. If you want more previous ones will be deleted.

There are extreme limitations to this game and the size that was promised by BGS is not there at all. The immersion of typical BGS games is gone, since there is no solid ground you can stand on. Little areas are being procedurally generated and vanish again. Nothing is really there. Everything is a temporary illusion which robs you of any motivation to play this game.

To explore. Why would you explore, if what you explored gets deleted afterwards? Why would you "walk on" if you hit an invisible wall after 4km and must teleport into a different disconnected area somewhere, but not over there behind the invisible wall. You can walk on for a few km in one direction and that is it. So you can not experience the 1000 planets, since there are zero planets in this game. Basically the whole world is a lie. And you see and feel it all the time. Which makes this game basically worthless to me.

The main story and side quests are nice and well enough designed and written. The combat is very fun. The weapons and modifications are great. The graphics are stunning. NPC design and looks are good. Persuasion system is great. Outpost building and ship building very nice and rather outstanding. Music is great. The cities are awesome in principle, but you get a lot of loading screens when moving from area to area. The 3d objects you can loot and look at and place somewhere are awesome. The ability to influence NPCs and talk to them is great. The freedom to shoot or kill them is great. The landscapes which are supposed to be on celestial bodies look awesome and are very diverse and of a high quality. The amount and the design of flora, fauna, monsters, animals and points of interest in an area "on a planet" is great and very fun.

The game is full of great components. But they all are hardly worth anything, since the whole continuum, the world that you are in, is a lie. Since it is nowhere. Not on a planet. The planet is not there and you know it. Which is not good enough for this game, since it promised over 1000 real life sized planets. This was the main point for me to buy this game. And it turned out to not be real at all. I can not walk for 100 km in one direction, noticing the differences in flora and fauna and landscape as i wanted to. And this was the first thing i wanted to do in this game.

This game presents a quality similar or even inferior to their last game Skyrin released10 years ago.
The Open World feels empty, there is no exploration and you dont feel willing to explore planets or systems, because everything is done by a Menu selecting landing points. Once you arrive you find rocks, an enemy base and that is it.

The game is fine, it's ambitious and has potential but executed poorly, gun play is very generic and highly repetitive. If you don't have patience, getting through, say, the first 12 or so hours will be tough, which isn't great considering the main campaign is only 15 hours. Side quests are probably the more enjoyable side of things, but without a good main story, it feels disjointed.

Best quality are the ships and space combat, I agree that is kinda fun, especially ship customisation, which again is something you'll have to wade through a lot of low-grade content to get to the ships much later in game.

Xbox needed a "Messiah" to save them, unfortunately Starfield arrived instead.

However, I think Bethesda is lying to us/players. The game is not Next-Gen. The graphics are not good, and the game physics are very bad. When we jump into the water, it's as if the character hit the concrete, and when we shoot at the environment, there is neither bullet marks nor a physical reaction.
The artificial intelligence is very bad, no one in the game reacts to anything, they just stare. Where is Next-Gen?
Rockstar Games games released years ago are more Next-Gen than Starfield.
Starfield looks like nothing but a soulless and dead work.
This is not a game to be played as it is, and I think we players, instead of Bethesda, will trust the modders and wait for the game to be better.

Utilizing cutting edge technology to zip across space and gaze upon the stars, not safely from earth through a telescope, but through the glass of your space cruiser.

I wish I could say that was the case with this game. Instead, all exploration aspects are abruptly interrupted by loading screen after loading screen, and again after loading screen. You can’t even enter your own ship while docked without a loading screen. There’s no wonder to be had exploring the final frontier here, but rather fast traveling to a planet to explore an empty landscape that has nothing to offer.

There is combat, if you like stiff, slow, uninspiring gunplay with lackluster selection of arsenal. Theres collecting loot, like that of former titles made by Bethesda, but the combat is boring, both in space and on the ground.

The story is slow, haphazard, and uneventful. For a game with so much hype behind it, you would expect to feel drawn to play it, I personally was not. TLDR: This was not a space adventure title with combat sewn in, it was Skyrim in space with less to do and less scenery. Thank the good Lord that I didn’t pay for it and it was on Gamepass…

but hey, at least they didn’t make a 10-year saga build up only to re-use assets to create a “new” world, but that’s a story for another day…

Even worse these tiny maps are just random generation environments with the same 3 or 4 dull activities randomly scattered across the map/planet. Scan, scan some more, scan some more and occasionally do dome shooting and lasering same thing and the enemies just run at you and stand in front of you. Or just randomly run from random points. At first I was enjoying the game learning the system , but after 10 hours I was just doing the same thing over and over on similar looking areas. This all might be OK if the story and characters carried you through, but its all modern cringe writing with this ugly unappealing characters we find in so many modern games. After not long I was just skipping dialogue in hopes I could enjoy the game systems..But its just shallow. Leveling is just picking perks, that's it! and then there are few generic crafting chores. Basic stuff where you can't build nothing until you pick the perk then you can use some of that useless junk that weighs you down to make more useless junk cause the game still has to be fair if you dont do crafting.
At first I liked the combat but after not long your just fighting the same red human dudes and handful of alien animals that a spread across all the planet/maps.
Off course then there the woke stuff. Yeh it's all there and it's and crap as it always is.Ugly unappealing chicks everywhere , female empowerment with all leaders being butch and manly woman.. Averting the male gaze. Even the one attractive girl that is your companion is made unappealing by sounding like an irritating posh 70 year old.

Finishing the main story does not take much effort and time. I think this is because Bethesda expects people to grind the game on New Game + again and again. Not exciting.

So sad to wait this many years for a lifeless game. The load screens ruin everything. The planets are just boring majority of the time.

The biggest smoke campaign of the last years after Cyberpunk 2077, bugs everywhere, bad performance, outdated gameplay, lack of important decisions, last generation graphics, slow exploration, etc.

They have released Skyrim 17 times on ten different platforms since 2011, basically printing money. Yet still this game releases like every single other Bethesda game. Janky, ugly and behind the times. The sooner this company dies the better. This is pathetic.

A poor copy of No Man's Sky. The visual and technical quality of the game is poor and did not perform as expected. There is a recurring trend in the planets that is boring.
As far as hype and media lies, the game is not huge. filled by the absurd quantity.

Propaganda falsa. Planetas vazios, sem ter o que fazer. Não existem viagens espaciais, somente telas de loading. Expressões faciais dos NPCs são da década passada. Este jogo é uma farsa.

I really wanted to like this game, but it is not what they said. This game is graphically outdated and not fun to play, There is no AI, NPC are creepy. I didn’t get myself having fun playing it. The loading screens simply makes you feel bad. 30fps in next-gen machines is unacceptable. Honestly this is a xbox360 game.

Boring game after couple hours, character animations are bad and soulless, 30fps makes the game even more unenjoyable, repetitive missions over and over.
It's basically looks like a 10 years old game, graphics look so gen 8th ish.

•There is no Russian localization. Even Sony does not allow itself such Russo-phobia.
•No Optimization. It feels like games on UE5 are not optimized. The reason is known!
•Empty Worlds - empty and boring worlds - resembles "No Man's Sky" at the very beginning. • Textures in some places are carelessly stretched. There is no clarity in the procedural generated worlds. •Lack of transport

•The BETA version is given out as a full-fledged product!

A sad trend in the modern gaming industry!

Lame character animations, no exploration as promised before, it ain't vast at all, there's planet boundary and no flying! What the hell is this. We were promised something great but it's just another space game. I give it 1, because of the false promises.
    Rest in peace Bethesda

Unfortunately, the graphics of the game are very bad and the artificial intelligence is terrible. The game remains old in every sense.

It's a big game, but starts way too slowly, and may never get interesting.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
