    If it wasn’t for a few little niggles in regards the need to reload and work through jump mechanics, Bramble: The Mountain King could well have been verging on top marks. Even then, this is a game that is hugely enjoyable, and the Nordic world feels like a great place to spend some solid hours. Just be aware, this can be a scary place and at times a bit gruesome, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Bramble: The Mountain King isn’t a very long game; I’d estimate about 4-6 hours to play through it. I was fully engaged through the entire story and felt it never overstayed its welcome. It’s a beautiful game set in a dark and disturbing world. If you are a fan of narrative driven games, especially those with a dark undertone, I think you’ll enjoy Bramble: The Mountain King.

    Dimfrost Studio has managed the feat of making one of the cosiest games I've ever played, only to completely change its character and become one of the most creepy I've ever experienced.

    Bramble: The Mountain King is a dark and brooding slice of Nordic folklore that's well worth digging into, despite some notable technical shortcomings. There's an inherent jankiness to the gameplay here that permeates its platforming, boss battles and exploration. However, if you can make peace with these rough edges, you'll find a tale that's still dripping in atmosphere, packed full of wonderful details and a menagerie of foul fairy-tale beasties that draw you in and keep the short campaign well and truly interesting.

    While this game has an interesting premise and a nice aesthetic, the gameplay falls flat on its face as there are major issues with the game'sWhile this game has an interesting premise and a nice aesthetic, the gameplay falls flat on its face as there are major issues with the game's controls. Jank is noticeable everywhere you turn, and good luck trying to find where you're meant to be going in certain areas. Tried to complete the game and encountered a boss that just shows the worst of what this game can be with timed jumps and a premise I wouldn't be able to figure out without a guide. Maybe somebody else will enjoy this game more than I did, but at the moment, the jank makes it utterly unplayable at times. Unfortunate given it's story and premise is intriguing.… Expand
