While this game has an interesting premise and a nice aesthetic, the gameplay falls flat on its face as there are major issues with the game's controls. Jank is noticeable everywhere you turn, and good luck trying to find where you're meant to be going in certain areas. Jank is noticeable everywhere you turn, and good luck trying to find where you're meant to be going in certain areas. Tried to complete the game and encountered a boss that just shows the worst of what this game can be with timed jumps and a premise I wouldn't be able to figure out without a guide. Maybe somebody else will enjoy this game more than I did, but at the moment, the jank makes it utterly unplayable at times. Unfortunate given it's story and premise is intriguing. Expand

The way Dimfrost Studio manages to make you feel inside a fable with dark touches is brilliant.

Bramble: The Mountain King is a dark and brooding slice of Nordic folklore that's well worth digging into, despite some notable technical shortcomings. There's an inherent jankiness to the gameplay here that permeates its platforming, boss battles and exploration. However, if you can make peace with these rough edges, you'll find a tale that's still dripping in atmosphere, packed full of wonderful details and a menagerie of foul fairy-tale beasties that draw you in and keep the short campaign well and truly interesting.

Dimfrost Studio has managed the feat of making one of the cosiest games I've ever played, only to completely change its character and become one of the most creepy I've ever experienced.
