Modern Warfare 3 is a reskin of MW2 which rehashes the same gameplay yet again with the bare minimum of innovation the developer can get away with, though really should be 'developers' as three developers, the dreggs of Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software, were needed to knock out this sequel in their less than 18 month development period.

The campaign took me 4 hours and 40 minutes on Regular difficulty, I took my time loking for hidden intel of which I collected 22 of the 46 pieces, it's the shortest Call of Duty campaign yet and the shortest FPS campaign I've certainly ever played. It's full of impressive set pieces with buildings falling down around the player's linear path, but these superficial big budget set pieces barely hide to anyone with experience with MW or MW2 that so much content from them is recycled with just a few minor edits made to the textures to fool the player into thinking what they're seeing is new (case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5dsOn06w1s - an entire building from CoD4), this goes for character models, animations, weapons, vehicles, gameplay sequences (for example the boat secion in MW2), a huge amount of content is reused and the game seems to be built around what they could recycle more than what they could create from scratch. The lack of originality or even intention to be original is present throughout the entire game. The story itself is actually quite enjoyable and feels as much a sequel to CoD4 and MW2, making it tie together nicely as a trilogy, though some sections make it feel more like a fanfic than a true sequel (considering that most of the people who worked on MW2 left and had nothing to do with MW3), the last mission was more of a QTE filled joke than a satisfying conclusion. I wonder how different it would've turned out had 40 of the key staff from IW, the original and only true CoD developer, due to Activision's disgusting treatment of the series, the staff and their creation. I won't even go to the clunkily added controversial scene involving the death of a random child that felt tacked on or the fact that everyone the player kills in the campaign is either African or Russian.

Spec Ops is a mixed bag, the missions are a mix of fun and terrible, and the Veteran difficulty is like that of the campaign, a very lazily added hard difficulty where the player dies to psychic enemies in around 3 bullets, usually within a second of peeking out from cover (and by peeking I mean moving, as there is still no lean function). The survival mode however is a lot of fun, it works well as two player co-op and a lot of the tedium from the other survival mode in the series, Zombies, is removed by taking out the luck factor with the amount of ammo the player can get and which weapons they acquire. There's a lot of fun to be had here with a friend and it runs smoothly online, the same can't be said for the multiplayer though.

In the previous Call of Duty, Black Ops, quickscoping was removed on the basis it's a cheap exploit of the game's aim assist, and that was a good call, though it annoyed many kids who like to do it in MW2. They brought this back in MW3 to please those kids and without regard for the quality of their game's online, this sums up their approach to the multiplayer. As a reskin of MW2 it of course plays quite similarly, they've made attempts to better balance the game with how effective the knife, grenade launchers and killstreak rewards are (which amongst quickscoping ranked as the biggest complaints of MW2's multiplayer) and the new point streak system is a nice addition, but all of the technical problems with this peer hosted, laggy mess with poor hit detection and terrible matchmaking still remain, taking a lot of the fun out of playing it, along of course with the huge focus on player's stats (made worse by in-depth stat tracking) that has most players approaching the game in as cheap a way as possible to camp themselves to a high kill/death ratio. The new game modes aren't actually to original either, some of them may as well credit other older and more recent games considering they're so close to them in design. The map design itself is a campfest, designed by Raven Software as after the majority of IW including all its creative and technical talent it took the few left at IW and other Activision developer Slegehammer Games to design the bulk of the game and they needed help fitting map design into their tight schedule, as of course a Call of Duty has to be out every single Novemeber in order to monopolise on the Christmas sales.

Lazily made rehash that might as well urinate on the grave of the original Infinity Ward, Activision's approach to this franchise is a good representation of everything that's wrong with the game industry right now.

I am hesitant to give this game a 1 even. The reason being is that the multiplayer is entirely too comparable to Black Ops. of negative reviews I wasn't sure if I should get the game or not. From the user reviews here on metacritic, I gathered that people were disappointed because the game looked and played too much like previous games. No one criticized
previous Call of Duty games for being poor. So, as a first timer to the series, I picked up
my pre-ordered copy. To me the graphics look great! They don't look dated. And the gameplay is super fun.
Played multiplayer and spec-ops survival with roommate for hours. I can confidently recommend the game to new comers to the series, specially those who love the fast gameplay of Halo but
want more depth to their guns and gameplay strategies. The game really does not deserve a 2.5 user score. It deserves a 9 in my opinion. One less than 10 because there's always room for improvement.

I hope the next Call of Duty game is significantly different from this one otherwise I may feel the way owners of previous Call of Duty games are feeling now. But for new comers, this game's multiplayer is amazing the same way Halo reach's was amazing!

A definate 9/10 to the multiplayer. Haven't played the single player yet.

While camping in previous games typically allowed a gamer to get low deaths and moderate amount of kills, while those running could rack up high kills with moderate deaths. Those running in most of these maps end up with only moderate high kills and moderate to high deaths while campers have high kills and low deaths. Guns barely kick and are pretty unreaslistic. While never a fan of newb tubes, the idea that someone can get hit by 2 and not die is ridiculous. Have you no respect for the medium of video gaming that you so profess to love so much? It's a wonder the mainstream world doesn't take gamers seriously, and therefore the gaming industry in general. We shoot ourselves in the foot with our rampant egotism, elitism, and the worst damn term that was ever invented (probably just because of our entertainment industry): fanboyism! You people need to realize that every single game has merit and that each one pushes the medium closer and closer to the mainstream, and that every new game promotes an inherent improvement cycle so that the next game is even better. Battlefield 3 would NEVER have been what it was if not for Modern Warfare. MW can say the same with maybe Halo. Halo with Goldeneye for N64. Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero are both dead because they made so much money the first or second time around and just became so stale they lost sales. This probably wont happen with MW3 but it really should. Everything from building models to textures, weapons and even sounds have been recycled for the latest entry of COD which as an aspiring game designer very much depresses me. Developing games needs to be efficient but this is downright lazy, but since the developers have their balls in vice by Activision they dont really have a choice. I even remember seeing an article about sledgehammer saying "MW3 is not just a cut and paste game" well if you have to say that, it probably is. There are even youtube videos proving this point. Another questionable statement I remember hearing was "We're hear to develop games, not engines" in response to the announcement of DICE's all new Frostbite 2 engine, which is much better looking and brings destruction to the table instead of just being able to shoot through walls. Look at the first MW compared to MW3, not much of a difference in graphics, gameplay or the audience that plays it (foul mouth teenagers and even younger children). If you look at BF2 compared to BF3 there is a complete over haul of the graphics, gameplay and now an even bigger audience. I dont wish to be seen as a fanboy for BF3, but rather I am just stating facts of what I have witnessed and played as well as what I have learned from going to school for Game Design. Despite all these flaws and shortcuts, MW3 will sell millions of copies and no doubt there will be another COD next year. Hopefully the general public will start to see how stale this series has become over the years, but there's no guarantee. Activision will continue to push out COD every year until it stops making money plain and simple. And it is a shame that the founders of Infinity Ward were "escorted from the premises" after a legal dispute between them and Activision. Ironically enough, they joined EA and formed Respawn Entertainment, and I for one can't wait to see what they will come up with next. MW3 brings nothing truly new to the FPS genre and therefore deserves a low score. Either wait a few years and truly develop something new for COD, or create a new franchise! This is becoming an annoying routine to see the general gaming public play out every year... Expand

From someone who use to be a huge COD fan for a long time, I gotta say I'm disappointed. Playing this game nice if you enjoyed the other COD games, but I feel 100% ripped. It is essentially MW 1.3 rather then a trilogy . Sure it's new maps, new perks and what not. But it literally feels like a copy and paste experience.

The multiplayer is pretty much if it aint broke then dont fix it. Some minor tweaks and new game modes which make the game a much more even and accessable game for newcomers. Still by far the greatest online multiplayer franchise as is reflected by the amount of sales it gets every year.
Spec ops is much better and more thought through than modern warfare 2 and in my opinion is much better than the zombies game mode from another so called developer. If you are a lover of zombies however, it has a great survival mode for 2 players.

Well deserving of a 9/10 because it is what it is with some new features and more even gameplay for newcomers and everyone as a whole. It loses the extra point because it is just Call Of Duty and the survival is only 2 players. Have fun everyone and i will see you online :)

Just a last comment to say please dont listen to all the negative user reviews on this site because people are being crazy with the big fanboy battle over this and battlefield. They are both just a computer game and both involve pretend men running around with guns. Both games have flaws and both games have people who camp online. Battlefield is littered with snipers camping and cod is littered with people camping too. That is surely the people playing it and not the game itself that we should be giving a low score to. All i can say is buy the game you enjoy and ignore all these fools who think trolling a games score is a big thing to do. Why cant we all just get along. Its only a computer game afterall. Battlefield + Call of Duty = Competition, which is great for everyone :)

First of all the game looks great, its had a few minor graphical tweaks from MW2 but on the whole looks very similar, which is definitely not a bad thing. The game is being created for the exact same hardware MW2 looked fantastic on, and the improvements to the engine have made a slight but noticeable difference if you compare the two side by side.
The maps have been made smaller in an effort to always keep you in then action, this has both its positives and its negatives. The game is much more fast paced than Black Ops and does flow well, it takes a great amount of situational awareness to be able to do well in this game and the maps provide enough cover to tip the balance of gun fights without giving a lot of camping spots.
The reduced size of the maps does cause some issues with spawning very close to enemies, on more than one occasion I have spawned in direct line of sight of the opposition and had absolutely no chance of surviving.
There is a map set in Paris, with a view of the Eiffel Tower in the background which is definitely my favorite and could easily become a classic. There are tight passageways though buildings, a couple of long sight lines and generally a good feel to the map. Other maps are good and cater for a mixture of game play styles. There is a tight and fast paced map called Dome, which does lend itself to the SMG class, it does have a good location for sniping but its on one side of the map only and leaves the player very exposed.
On the whole the maps are good, with a couple of great maps in the mix, with all of them looking good.
The guns have all been made from the ground up, new models and characteristics make for an interesting choice, the M4A1 is a solid starter for the assault rifles and i was using this gun all the way up to level 35 with very little need to change to anything slightly more powerful.
The UMP 45 is back and the first weapon available to you in the SMG's and is again a very reliable weapon. MW2 veterans will remember this gun well, it was generally seen as an overpowered weapon but in this installment has been toned down slightly with more recoil and less range, although it still be very versatile with practice. Sniping is a lot easier than in previous games, and "quickscoping" is back. There has been a long and tiring debate in the Call of Duty history over this tactic, and one only fueled by Treyarch's decision to remove it from Black Ops. I have no problems with it being brought back into MW3 as it does seem as other guns can quickly take out a sniper with relative ease. There are the exceptions to this where you have a very good sniper setup in a long corridor but generally smart players will be able to use the map and equipment to tip the balance of the engagement.
The leveling system is less of a grind this time, unlocking new weapons and perks relatively quickly. There are 80 levels and the option to do this 10 times with the prestige system, then a further 10 times if you would like to reset all your stats in the prestige shop and start again. This gives the game a certain amount of longevity to the multiplayer but is not essential as the gains are mainly for bragging rights.
In all this is a very enjoyable online game, the killstreaks have been majorly overhauled with different "strike packages" available to suit your ability level and play style. I have noticed in the community a lot of negativity towards the game, mainly commenting on the fact that its similar to MW2.
In terms of graphics, menus, a few returned guns and kill streaks i can see why they feel that way but it is a sequel of a very popular, tried and trusted formula with a lot of the annoyances from previous games removed and more than enough new additions to warrant a full title.
If you look at all of the popular gaming franchises they have all stayed very similar, Fifa is notorious for this but it doesnt get the same bad reputation for minor new features and an updates teams roster. Battlefield has changed very little over the past few years, especially the latest installments.

Great story but a rehashed system. It's more like MW2.5. Really disappointing after all of its hype. I think the competitor had more realism this season. Hopefully by next year there will be a better engine.

This is a great game with a great story that I've been sucked into like a 13 year old girl watching Twilight.
And the multiplayer is awesome. It's one of the best out there.
No game is perfect and they all have their glitches.
You can't expect millions of people to play a game online simultaneously and not find one bug or glitch.

MW3 is an amazing follow up to MW2 and a contender with Black Ops.
It's great to see a series still going strong many years into it.

Rage excelled graphically and had incredible AI. Games such as Just Cause 2 gave us freedom to roam and destroy. Now tell me one thing this terrible excuse of a game has done since the last installment, in fact, make that the first installment. There are the new maps, a scattering of new guns and modes. It is clear to me why it takes only a year to make this game, because it is just the same game as the previous installment, but in a shiny new box with a fancy new midnight launch. It is about time gamers used their brains and spent their money where it is actually deserved, not on some cheap remake. Reward innovation and keep the developers who care in business. Not those who add an elite club and charge you as much for the game costs to join it.

Though gameplay is not overly original, the developers have clearly stuck to what they know is successful and it works. Though the singleplayer is not overly long, as said it never has a dull moment. The voice acting is especially a highlight and with the several fantastic set pieces and different locations, the game succeeds in making you feel like you are in a Hollywood action film - just don't buy this game if you are expecting an ultra realistic game. I was also impressed with the graphics (played on Xbox 360). They were extremely fluid thanks to having 60 fps and the facial animations have never looked better.
Also in the game, you can find Spec Ops. Spec Ops is a fantastic way of prolonging the MW3 experience, with many extra missions you can complete either by yourself, with a friend or with a stranger over the interent. Then there is also survival mode, in which enemies come at you in waves and you have to try and remain alive. Though not the most original gamemode, it certainly fits right in with Call of Duty's gameplay. Having mentioned all of this, buying the game with just these features would be enough for me, but obviously CoD wouldn't be CoD without multiplayer and it is here that the game really shines. I have been a Call of Duty fan since the original and though CoD4 is my favourite, I feel that this multiplayer is better than that game. There is so much to do and so much to unlock in the multiplayer that unlike previous CoDs, when waiting at a lobby you will always have some new camo or red dot sight reticule look at. The maps as well are also fantastic with varied locations like the campaign, and they also cater for any player - except snipers. When sniping I did feel there wasn't enough openness and the maps were more designed for quickscopers - as mentioned before, don't expect an ultra realistic modern warfare sim. Overall, however I would say that this multiplayer is the most balanced CoD yet. To conclude, I feel that with all of these features and with all of them being such high quality, CoD is a great bargain in that you effectively get 3 game modes in 1. Though not trying anything new, it is clear that developers have stuck to a winning formular, and this greatly complements MW3. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is going to be one of the most successful games ever sales wise, and its nice to see that it isn't going to be so popular for no reason.

It had an engaging single player campaign, and fantastic multiplayer. All the CoD iterations since then seem to have just been minor, incremental upgrades, the sort of thing I would normally expect to see in a large patch or expansion pack. The campaigns have gone steadily downhill, and at this point, it feels like even the developers themselves didn't want to include it. They just felt obligated to tack on something on top of their overused multiplayer formula. I remember when CoD was the soldiers story, where it was deeply emotional and involving, and MW3 tries desperately to evoke some of those feelings that it's earlier predecessors brought on, but it falls flat. You can't have a chain of giant explosions, waves of infinitely-spawning enemies being ground up like a woodchipper, hundreds of people dying all around you, and then suddenly expect you to care when one person in particular is killed, only to immediately jump back to screeching guitars and more explosions.

The multiplayer audience is still, as always, not the kind of crowd I would ever want to spend time playing games with. Children, and adults that behave like children, fill the online servers, screaming profanities in my ears. The killstreaks are far from balanced, and it's easy for a single player (who likely hasn't put the controller down since the game came out) to completely dominate the game, racking up dozens of kills while other players can do nothing but spawn and die repeatedly and wait for the game to be over. Sure, you get lots of numbers popping up every time you do anything, and some people find that satisfying. But you know another game that did that? Bulletstorm. And that game was garbage. It was specifically designed to be over-the-top and ridiculous, and MW3 is rapidly approaching that point as well. The difference is, they're not doing it on purpose to be ironic.

Not that it will matter, since tens of millions of you will go out and buy it anyway, but if you have any sense at all, I strongly suggest you avoid this title. Go pick up a copy of CoD 4 on steam, hop on a good server, and have fun, without all the irritation.

Yes i agree that the game lacks innovation, originality, limitations due to the engine and such, but that's not why you buy CoD, well its not for me, i buy CoD for balls to the wall, full speed, ass ripping! you know what your going to get when you buy a CoD game, its a winning formula that yes needs an update but its still as good as anything out there ( and i`m a BF3 player, been a BF man since day 1 also ).

Graphically this game is pretty good for consoles, its not the best but its not the worst neither, its easily comparable to Black Ops, and looks better than MW2 as that was dull and washed out, Audio is top notch booming out of a surround sound system, there simply is no game out there with the sound effects of the MW games ( yes BF3 gun sounds are on a par ), MW3 plays great if your not a sit in the corner guy wanting to camp it out all night, a lot of people do seem to be upset that there is usually multiple ways into a room, well personally i think that's great as it stops the retard tool player from sitting in one corner with his ADS permanently at the door. The maps seem to be a big debate so far and when i played it for the first few hours my thoughts was and still are that "these don't feel like Infinty Ward maps", they don't, they have that something different, and i like it, its not the usual "here is a building with 8 corridors and a big room on one side", to me Sledgehammer put there mark on CoD subtly, but enough for me to say good job guys. Weapons handle well and make sense as in, if you run around the corner and from 3 feet away i open fire with my M4 and you open fire with your Skorpion... Skorpion is a winner as he can raise his gun faster and pile more lead into me, just a simple fact, the only thing i hate about the weapons is this stupid dumb QUICK SCOPING, just ruins the games for me, if i get in a game and there is more than QS`er, i`ll leave, you need to deal with that SH Games.

Overall i think this is a good package, is it more of the same? sure it is, few tweaks here and there, but at its core its still a CoD game...but that's why you buy it right? CoD is more like a Hollywood blockbuster, over the top, all action, adrenaline pumping shooter. It does have issue`s with its Elite service which there shouldn't be seeing as the last 2 CoD`s have sold 120 million copies between them, there is no excuse not to be ready there and that is very very poor from the other team ( name escapes me) thats dealing with that side of things ( Get off the demonware server, it sucked on CoD4 hence why you changed ).

for me this is the best CoD Multi-Player yet, and i think peoples main problems here is......THIS IS WHAT MW2 SHOULD HAVE BEEN.... MW2 was a bit of a let down for me, as it just didn't feel like the first MW....and as Ive said before, this one does, it feels a lot like MW1 and for me that puts this title well above the 2nd in the MW2 series.

I`m 35 and come from the days of where an average game scored 5-6 out of 10, where 8 was a rating that suggested you bought this game and that's what I`m putting on this game, 8/10 good game but not great, lacks innovation and is starting to become a little dated, but typical CoD, fans should be enjoying this right now, for what it is, and that's a CoD game

My advice to Activision... we know there is gonna be a BO2 next year but don't put out another MW game until the next gen comes around, support MW3 and BO2 with DlC until ps4 and the new xbox land.

I'm satisfied with the kills streaks very balanced. It all just comes down to pumping a guy with 10-20 bullets for him to stand still a take a Barrett quick scope and I die in one shot. Never cares for quick scoping it doesn't take skill like some say. It's a game breaker for sure. I love drop shots but there seems to be a lag when actually goin prone. I'm very competitive online. I play with the same 6 man crew search and destroy since black ops. And we are good players good stats but we will lose to a bunch of randoms at time people the game chose a shoddy host with poor connection enemies start sponging bullet damage and just turn n spray n I'll die. It's a little frustrating to run up on a guy for him to turn and blind fire and I die in what seems like 2 bullets and the kill cam shows I didnt even shoot. That is unacceptable for a competitive online game. Battlefield hit detection is pretty spot on when the servers run smoothly. There's no choice to not play the same map every time u join a new lobby and can't filter searches by connection. These are major things that need to be addresses. Matchmaking is a thing of the past for new players but for vets it must be taking into consideration. And not in 2 years from now when cod 9 comes. I play to win and the game doesn't allow it at times. And with a connection of 35/35 I think that I would be host more often and actually have smooth gameplay. I don't blame the developers though, Activision nearly dissolved Infinity Ward when the guys wanted to do something different. Big publishers are to blame for this overpriced re-release. Expand

For the review. The multiplayer seems more fast paced to me because the way the maps were designed. I really like the point streak system. This is very friendly to new gamers also. The graphics seem slightly improved from Mw2 not really noticeable, but thats not that bad of a thing. I thought Mw2 graphics were fine in the first place. There is a lot of customization for your guns and more guns than all the rest of the game.

My only con I have is sometimes the spawn is not so great and you get spawn killed.

Other than that another great COD that will be stealing hours away from my life.

I play both the BF and CoD series and with the latest release if CoD MW3 I will say I am very pleased with the multiplayer so far. I am mainly a multiplayer player not single player. I have read complaints about how spec ops is not 4 player coop, so what thats part of the challenge, plenty of people played 4 player coop in Nazi Zombies and just destroyed it, so whats the problem with a little challenge in having fewer people. Now the competetive multiplayer. Kill confirmed is a new breath of fresh air in the series, it eliminates those who camp for every kill and promotes more teamwork that the usual game modes and requires every member to be more active to create the outcome of the match. As well Team defender is a nice new take on combining two of the series popular game modes (Team D and Capture the Flag) My time spent playing this so far has been the most fun as well as the most frustrating as this is undoubtedly one for those who have friends to accompany them in the fight. But to settle everyones complaints, yes some of the guns are the same and some of the same perks but their balancing has now almost been perfected. For every perk or gun you use there is a different one to contrast it making the firefights more balanced, even for unexperienced players. Infinity Ward has also taken note of players who may not set high killstreaks but play to the game feel more involved and brought to them the ability to earn killstreaks without the need to camp or play with a party to obtain those by implementing the support killstreak class. With a few gun balancing tweaks (mainly the shotguns) the game will be a near perfection in the first person shooter market. Expand

CoD4 was an eye-opener dragging me away from the Halo universe in terms of console FPS's. MW2 improved upon the already innovative game. However, MW3 is the exact same as MW2. I feel like my intelligence has been insulted....which I guess is my own fault.

It's worth noting that this game has a single-player campaign, which many of the reviews bombing it don't seem to take into consideration. If you're interested in only the multi-player modes, then yeah, you'll probably be a bit disappointed. Still, MW3 may not reinvent the wheel, but it's far from a bad game.

So to "those" players, stop quiting so easily and giving a game a 0 because your not destroying everyone. Now that that's outta the way, time to address the majority who keep saying its the same game. These are the EXACT same people who loved mw2 but complained when the problems came. All of them, I mean ALL of them said the exact same thing. "if they fixed the problems with mw2 it would be the BEST game". Well unfortunately they couldn't fix it.....until now. They give you exactly what you nipple babies wanted and somehow you still cry. Makes sense, doesn't it? They give you the best of cod 4, mw2 and black ops and still, you cry. Enough already. I'm seeing close to a million people online everyday, but yet it gets a 0? Stop it. To make matters worse, a lot of you keep crying about "innovation" but yet you really only wanted the problems to be fixed for balancing issues. Bunch of morons. Do you even know what you want? Also, to the battlefield community who rags on this game because theirs is "innovative"......you are also morons. Just like cod they add a couple different tweaks and things with their games and you think it's groundbreaking? Guess what?? It's the same thing as cod. If cod said they were running a new engine and it looked the exact same, you would swallow it all up. Every last drop. With no complaints and asking for seconds. I hate to break it to you, but bf3 and bfbc2 ARE THE SAME GAME. Just with different tweaks and things. Nothing extraordinary. Definitely nothing innovative. It's been the same for years just like cod. Nothing more to it. Last note, if you bought this game just for the single-player only to turn around and say that it's short and/or horrible....your an idiot whose parents locked you in a closet for their childhood. How do you not know its short? Do you not have any connection to the outside world? Idiots I swear. Just like the people who expected a whole different game. It makes a lot of money for a reason. Last bit of advice to everyone who doesn't follow this rule. Be your own person. Like the things you like and hate the things you hate. The replay value comes from the multiplayer and the special operations. Personally I would like to see more spec ops. The only reason I lowered its score is the length of the single player campaign, I would have liked a good bit more to play through.

However from MW2 to MW3 graphically the changes aren't enough and i can understand how this can bother a lot of people. specially those who care about good graphics, but people have to understand that the xbox360 is a 5yrs old console and graphics wont get any better. Sure, i know people are going to point out to games like crisis and battlefield. these games are beautiful to look at, but anyone who has played battlefield would tell you that the games have some rather ugly issues in the graphics department. I have found myself looking at black spaces on some of the maps and even seen weird lines on the ground when flying jets. My point is that although MW3 graphically isnt as good as BF3, it has the right balance of good graphics and gameplay, it runs smooth and all maps look rather nice. and to people that are saying that this is just an update, i dont see how you can pack everything thats new in MW3 to a simple update. You have campagin thats short but fun, spec ops that has being reinvented and is more fun than before, and the survival game, and dont forget multiplayer.
10+ new maps, new and more balanced weapons, new equipment and the reinvention of streaks. Lots of unlockables and new modes. And although these modes arent new to the world, they are new to COD. Not many games give you exciting cinematic experiences like COD, so each game feels refreshing. Graphically the game looks really good also. Everything looks clean and the amount of action that is going on around you is amazing. Plus it all runs at 60fps as well. Multiplayer is also better then ever. Nothing major has been added but that doesn't stop the game from being addictive. It has that 'just one more go' vibe to it which means once you start playing it's hard to put down. BF3 looks like good fun, but MW3 is just as good (if not better)- so stop acting all butthurt that all the major gaming websites gave BF3 lower score on average. - and play your game. Expand

Best COD campaign yet. Polished graphics. Awesome weapons. Amazing COOP. Smooth gameplay. No complaints here. I am a long time Call of Duty fan, ever since the first one came out on PC. However I don't like anything that Treyarch puts out. So, it was a relief to me when I started playing MW3 to find out that the game stays true to the modern warfare roots. Wow, way to ruin metacritic. Let's get 1000+ people to give a zero score to MW3 who also coincidentally have never reviewed a game or only reviewed BF3. Is there nothing better to do?

Ok, so raise your hands if you loved Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Ok, it looks like that's about a bazillion of you. You all are in for a treat, as this game retains the same ridiculously addictive, adrenaline-fueled gameplay, adds 16 new maps, a few new modes and a flashy new 7-hour campaign that neatly wraps up the story of Price and company. If there's a criticism to be leveraged here, it's at Activision as a company, and not the game itself. I think many people are disgusted by being asked to pay an additional $50 for their much-touted "Elite" service. I'm sorry, but these little vampiric nickel-and-dime schemes are **** Also, do something nice for fans for a change, like offer DLC map packs for free. Expand

Good game, and all these idiots who think they are cheated are dumb as a whistle. They showed exactly what the game is going to be. Grow up BF3 idiots, u guys are so insecure that u sunk to a low that rating game less. BF3 will never beat COD or never be as good as COD. That game exactly had to Rip off black ops plot and still couldlnt succeed. The highest selling game with 2.8/10 showsGood game, and all these idiots who think they are cheated are dumb as a whistle. Why not be honest for once?? The game have nice features, nice gameplay, nice graphics, and if you are BF3 fanboy why bother to rate the game, if you will not play.

It's amazing!!! I have been playing for hours non-stop, and still want more. The main history in single-player is great, much better than Battlefield 3, with action and all plots being solved. It's worth my rate and worth my money.,

It's hard to see the majority of people wanting to play any other multiplayer shooter until the next CoD is released, such is the quality of what's on offer here.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
