I can't believe how much I looked forward to this and how after a few plays I just gave up - with a 'meh...'.

Might of helped to keep those original Infinity Ward devs....

Lame cash in - well done Activision.

Glen asked me to rate this game. And I did. It deserves 0/10 for giving me MW2 for full price. Thank you Glen, won't make any mistake like this again.

The Special Ops aren't anything ground breaking, and survival is a welcomed addition, but after a few games of both you'll grow tired of them quickly. That leaves the us with the multiplayer, this is the bread and butter of CoD games. This is where you will spend countless hours fragging friends, and foes alike. The only problem is that MW3's multiplayer is arguably worse then previous installments overall. Sure, some things they do tight, such as the perk rebalancing, and gun leveling, but gameplay-wise it is a step backwards. Spawns are bad at best, maps aren't memorable, after 3 installments they still have failed to give us a proper system link option and private game options, which are vital to competitive CoD, they did away with the dive from Black Ops. I feel that if you really are a fan of what CoD is all about, the multiplayer, then you might-as-well stick with Black Ops, as it already has quality maps, very polished gameplay, and an overall better multiplayer experience. I am neither a fanboy or hater of COD, just a gamer who can appreciate plain dumb fun when it's presented. Thats what MW3 is, and thats what it does well. As much as I'm enjoying Skyrim, its nice to take some respite and unplug my brain for a while with some white knuckle set pieces and satisfying gunplay. Great fun and to be honest, if you buy MW3, you know exactly what youre getting.

There are many Call Of Duty Fanboy's giving this game 10's. There are even more Battlefield Fanboy's giving this game a 0 or a 1. With that being said, I'm going to recommend you don't read any perfect 10 reviews and don't read any reviews under 5. I am going to try to be as honest as possible with my review. First, I'd like to say that Modern Warfare 3 is a VERY DECENT GAME. Although it is probably the least innovative game of the year, the formula that Call of Duty brings in every game is always extremely addictive and, to the anger of Battlefield fan's as they read this, very fun. As a fairly neutral gamer, I like to think of the Call of Duty series as a sports game, kind of like Madden or NBA Live. This is because Call of Duty releases on an annual basis, so you honestly cannot expect a COD4 like game every year. Just like sport's games update their rosters and add slight tweaks, COD adds new gun's and tweaks its formula a bit every year and I would just like to say: THIS ISN'T A BAD THING, COD IS STILL VERY FUN. That is what I have to say. If you are a hardcore gamer, get this game. If you are a casual gamer and you have money to spare, get this game. The Call of Duty franchise is number 1 in sales every year for a reason, although it is not innovative or very creative for that matter, it is fun and addictive and get's gamers to waste day's of their lives playing it. On a closing note, I would also like to ask my fellow reviewers to be a little more mature and a little more professional in there reviews and not flame on a game for outselling their favorite game. If you want the same single player, the same multiplayer, the same extra modes and the same engine as what was available 3 years before, and $40 cheaper, by this game, but if not, be sane and by a different game like battlefield 3 for a fps, or big rigs for a racing game

My biggest gripe is the map layouts. Most maps are way too small to get any time of rhythm/momentum. It reminds me of playing Rust nonstop. It's a joke. I would definitely hold off on buying this game and lean towards exploring BF3 or just continue playing MW2. I'm not happy about wasting 60 dollars on a downgraded game! Expand

I am a long time player of the Call of Duty series. We'll start off with Call of Duty 4 for times sake. Brilliant. Utterly and thoroughly brilliant. Mechanics, physics, perks system, guns, damage, levels, and every other aspect of the game was flawless. I still play it to this day if I can find a loby that isn't full of hackers. World at War... it was good. It wasn't COD4, but it worked as a refreshing take on the game. Treyarch, however, has never lived up to the standard that was set by Infinity Ward (MW1 and 2 Era). Modern Warfare 2... **** EPIC. This game refined COD4 and enhanced the game to the next level. Everything that was good about COD 4 was even better in MW2 including the better graphics/environment. Plus, the best thing about this game was that it rewarded players for being good. Yes the noob toobs, and rockets were annoying, but you could still manage. It seemed that IW was telling the players that "If you can't play with the big dogs, go play Mario Kart". There was no "leveling out the playing field" or any trash like that. Me and my buddies would party up and **** on kids all night. And that is the way it was. Perfect. Black Ops (or Wack Ops IMO).... total **** Just as MW2 hit the nail on the head, so to speak, Wack Ops missed and hit their thumb, time after time. This game leveled out the playing field because Treyarch felt sorry for the kids who got **** on in MW2. Every gun was the same. No matter whether level 56 or 6 you could do just as good as the next as far as having a good gun because they were all alike. Camping was rewarded because the maps were full of camping spots and a camper could hide behind a rock or dumpster and kill as many people as a runner with actual skill. And the mechanics/physics were just **** Characters felt wierd knifing, reloading, and moving. Treyarch essentially **** up big time as far as skilled players were concerned. Now, why we are here. Modern Warfare 3. Let me say this; Activision, when you lost the original Infinity Ward dev team, you lost everything. They knew what it was to make a good game. When you try to bring "innovation" into gaming you usually **** it up for the majority of your followers. What you needed to do was re-vamp the graphics, make new and original levels (not cut and paste), and basically do what EA did with Battlefield. Keep the same game in tact, but REFINE it. MW3 is pretty good don't get me wrong. I like the feel of the game, I like the new game mode ideas, and I like the weapons system. The weapons mechanics and physics and unlock system is just as good as MW2. The MAJOR gripe that I have is the perks system. In a multiplayer game designed around perks and player/gun enhancements.... the perks and gun enhancements are PRETTY IMPORTANT. You took what MW2 had and you took out what YOU thought were the BAD perks. You did not come up with anything new and creative, but you took Basic mechanics out of the BASIC game (like moving fast while looking down the sights and acquiring targets at a further range) and made them perks. All the while you divided up good perks and pro perks to make the game more leveled. Sleight of hand and faster ads should have never been split up. Invisibility to radar AND airstreaks only makes sense. Not one perk for each. It seems as if you were in such a bind to come up with new ideas that you took a Shelby GT500, removed the engine, and put in a 4 cylinder in order to claim that you get better gas mileage with this years model. You did nothing except make it worse and tried to pass it off as being MIND-BLOWINGLY innovative.
    Activision, don't let Treyarchs views cloud the Modern Warfare series because that is what it fells like is happening. Don't "innovate" the game. Just make it better. Fine tune it. You don't have to replace the engine and transmission in a car to make it faster. Use what you have and build off of that. Go back to MW2 and fine tune the following;
    1. Graphics
    2. NEW environments/levels
    3. Guns and unlock system (MW3's has a good balance)(Maybe some cool new guns wouldn't hurt)
    4. Explosions - Lets face it. Grenades, rockets, and mines do more damage and rightfully should. Take it back to MW2 days.
    5. PERKS!!! LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!

Do this and I guarantee that I would be back to your game. Until then.... I'll be on Battlefield 3. A truly better game.

To say that MW3 is more of the same is correct to an extent, the main thing is that it goes both ways. Why fix what isn't broken and conversely why are the same mistakes being made? Why fix what isn't broken and conversely why are the same mistakes being made? MW3 is an easy to pick up game that encourages fast game play and gives a positive reinforcement to continue playing with the way the leveling system works. However the idea of rewarding players who get kills is ludicrous outside of adding points to the score board. IW and Sledgehammer openly admitted that their reward system was designed around the high kills low death players for previous games, so why is that system still implemented into the game? Even if someone is running a Support package the other team is spammed Stealth Bombers and EMPs giving negative reinforcement to even bother continuing the game. Initially I liked the idea of the new game modes Kill Confirmed and Team Defender but I quickly noticed that Kill Confirmed still has too many campers and Team Defender seems to suffer from people spamming the Riot Shield Juggernaut making getting the flag near impossible. How is it that the original issues still exist and new ones are made? It's become obvious that the CoD series is nothing more than a cash grab to Activision, no real advancements were made and only one or two things were added to the overall experience. But it's not enough to keep the series alive for any longer. Hopefully the creators of Black Ops (Treyarch) can take what they did with Black Ops (simply adding total player customization) and add to the CoD series instead of rehashing the same thing, because it's clear IW and Sledgehammer have no clue where to take Call of Duty. With all the money that these games make you would think they would actually use some to improve the game (for example, improving their engine). This game is completely deprived of any innovation. Games should be about pushing the boundaries of technology and attempting new things, instead they simply stick to the same formula and recycle the same game, yet get more millions and awards every time. Its games like Skyrim in which developers like Bethesda try and push the limits, increase innovation and thrive to not only simply tweak things but completely overhaul their engine, put their profits into making something new, more immersion and deep in order to create these stunning environments which capture the player and feel like an entirely new game. Though CoD isn't an RPG it could take some pointers from a company like Bethesda in order to not keep providing the same game but come out of the 'safe' zone and try to make something better/new. I think if this franchise keeps going like this it will meet the end of its product cycle. I for one will not be getting another, I already have one and some spare copies. At least its a good feeling knowing if Modern Warfare 2 breaks I have another copy of it (Modern Warfare 3).

Bare in mind this review is only to make a point, I am sure much hard work goes into the campaign side of things (story, acting, etc) but my review focuses on the lack of 'new' features and innovation which equate to it feeling disappointing.

That game was fresh, innovative and it grabbed the initiative from the host of WW2 shooters that defined that period. Since then, Activision have sucked the life out of this franchise with a number of boneheaded decisions like annualising the series, farming the title out to studios with no connection to the franchise at all, mistreatment of Infinty Ward's creative team who saw the project from "birth" to becoming the biggest game series ever. However, for me atleast, their single biggest mistake was to fail to innovate. This is basically a map pack from COD4, same graphics, same physics, same weapons, same character skins, same structure. I fail to see how they can possibly have spent 2 years and millions/billions of dollars on this game. For that kind of money there should be an entirely new engine for the game to bring this into the modern world. Instead of creating a truly innovative product Activision and whats left of Infinity Ward are happy to take your money, lots of your money and put out a substandard product thats so wide of the mark its silly. COD MW3 (or as it should be called COD MW2 map pack 4) is predictable in its staleness, but what's surprising is to what extent game assets were recycled from previous games. This is in essence a very expensive map pack. The fact that this game is so popular does not bode well for the gaming community, and COD MW3 may just herald the beginning of an age of COPY and PASTE gaming.

This is the same game that I have been playing for the last 4-5 years. Why can't they make the game a little different instead of making it a yearly franchise? Even if they made the games come out every two years it would be much better.

I wont be buying any of their games on release any more.

The single player is OK but nothing great, they basically rip off MW2 and lets not forget in MW2 they basiucally ripped off MW1. I got the game based on the previous games but honestly this time round they just copied the previous game and changed names and places. The ending is complete tosh too, I didnt even realise it was the end until the credits rolled. To sum up, average single player, great multiuplayer if it would only f*cking work. Overall I have lost faith in Activision and the COD series, I actually hope this is the last nail in the coffin as if they think they can get away with this they are even biger **** than I already thought they where.

Solid title, nothing revolutionary here but it is serviceable for the many fans out there. The series will need to refresh its approach the next time around, but for now it is the best in the business for what it does. Fast action that awards skill over everything else.

That's my problem, when I sat and put the game in my console I couldn't wait, but the first thing is the menu is for all purposes the same as MW2 just a different colour, looking back I am surprised it wasn't just a slightly darker yellow, but I guess there was enough innovation to change the colour and that is practically it. I sat and played and when finished, I only remembered that I had completed the single player campaign for MW3 because the box was on my coffee table in front of me. To me the game felt like I had just played MW2 again with bits of MW in it. I played about 5 of the co op missions and lost interest quickly again I could have been playing MW2, the survival mode, interested me, perhaps myself and 3 of my mates can fight it out against wave after wave of bots, erm no. Then to the multiplayer and this was the biggest disappointment, the series has been based off its multiplayer experience, and as blacks ops showed the world when more rounds had been fired than stars in our galaxy, not a bad indicator of a game, because someone must of played it, I certainly did. Yet the multiplayer is the same as MW2, with a few extra gimmicks, instead of kill streaks just on their own you can have assault (Kill streak) support packages where you keep your kills wicked but you are still punished as you can never really use anything cool to annihilate your foe. A few different game modes like kill confirmed, yeah fantastic, adds a new element for all of an hour but then it just becomes the same repetitive game play, hang on am I playing MW2 or MW3? Hang on let me check the DVD case. Yep it says MW3 but I'm not convinced.
Many have slammed this game, fair enough its each to their own opinion. I have given it a 2 because like many I was severely disappointed. The COD series since the beginning on PC led the innovation in gaming and with Modern Warfare they broke boundaries like never before, and then MW2 did the same, though black ops was pretty much the same, i loved combat training, my mates and I would play free for all for hours on end with torrents of abuse following every kill or death. Though, MW3 well that's it, there is no real innovation, the graphics engine is tried and test great but used and it shows, the multiplayer is the same as MW2 and offers nothing really new and exciting. I truly have played this game for 9 hours including completing the single player campaign and that's it, it has never graced my console and most likely never will. It is a formula that works and is sound buts is a near on copy with nothing to make me go wow. and that's the disappointment for me. Many would hope with the release of XGD3 for the 360 that extra 1gig of space could have more, but it doesn't. Finally, sorry if you have fallen into a coma by now, I find it immensely funny that Glen Schofield of Sledgehammer games responded to the mass of negative reviews trying to boost the user rating of the game, but really what threat is the rating on here the critics have nearly all praised the game, to review the game properly and not troll etc, you need to have played the game, which means you bought it or hired it, so why does he care, the score isn't going to change the amount of money that has been made. What I do hope is that maybe some one in the development team will look at this and realise that innovation is what keeps you at the top, not how many units can be shifted in the first week.

It's the same game! the only big innovation the series has under it's belt is the perk system which made cod 4 one of the best multiplayer games i have ever played. zombies was introduced with waw but it isn't an innovation because it came out the same year that gears introduced horde mode. weapon customization also came with cod 4 but there have been other older franchises to use that in their games (example: socom series) once i got bored of multiplayer my friend and i played survival mode, which i really enjoyed. i feel like they did a good job on that, not an innovation but they definitely refined the horde gametype. there was some disappointment that came with survival mode though. i didn't understand why it was only 2 player, even on online co-op. zombies was 4 player, how come survival can't be 4 player as well? i wasn't a big fan of spec ops on mw 2, and they seemed very similar in mw 3. the last thing i was disappointed with was how short the campaign was, we beat in like 5 hours. we didn't even try to rush through it I'm sure someone could beat it under 5 hours which is sad. with how short the campaign was i feel like they should have cut it completely, along with the spec ops missions. instead they should have had a major focus on multiplayer. makes sense right? i mean they just came out with the elite service to track your stats. why even make singleplayer options? anyways i feel like with the focus on multiplayer they could have made survival 4 player co-op, and they could have added more multiplayer options such as guns, maps, camo, etc. but they will just make you spend $15 on that later. the only thing about this game that saved it from getting anything lower than a 4 is the fact that survival was fun. i think there needs to be a change in the cod formula. if activision read this they would think i'm crazy because economically it does not make sense, why change the formula for something that makes you billions of dollars? all i have to say is that they have lost my business and i will not buy another call of duty until they make some innovations. the only thing that can make that happen is competition. competition is excellent for the gaming industry, because it makes the consumer happy because developers are constantly trying to out due their counterpart. this leads to great games for consumers, and money circulating in the industry. every great dynasty has to fall, and eventually people will realize that $60 is a waste of money if it's basically the same game as last year. the same problem is happening with madden, people are starting to realize that there is no innovation with that game, and the game critics are finally showing it with their scores, and yet critics still rate call of duty games high...hmm. the last thing i will say is for the call of duty fanboys. insanity- when someone does the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. I won't even get into the CoD elite service which offers nothing gamers haven't seen with games like Halo and Battlefield. At least those two examples don't charge you. The fact that the DLC for this series has become known for overpriced and underwhelming extras has added to my disenfranchisement with the whole series. They clearly ran out of ideas for improving animations as the new sprinting movements look ridiculous and quickly implemented as a way to cover up this copy and paste of a game. Campaign: The campaign is even shorter than mw2 with even more unrealistic plot and action sequences. It is cheesy, predictable and the plot pacing is even worse than mw2's. Spec Ops: There are EVEN LESS spec op missions than before, sure they added Survival mode, but wait. thats just Zombies with guns! the missions are longer yes, but that also backfires when going back multiple times to beat a level. They are uncreative and mostly similar.
Multiplayer: Oh look, its the same gamemodes as cod4 AGAIN. there is absoultely NO innovation whatsoever. every map has been balanced out yes, but this makes them all pretty similar and boring layouts. Most guns from Mw2 are back with the MP5 and G36C from cod4. Kill confirmed is just team deathmatch, team defender is capture the flag with headquarters inspiration. Every gamemode is still the same. the perks are uncreative and its clear that they ran out of ideas and just broke down old gameplay elements and turned them into perks. Although the Prestige Shop is a nice addition, there isnt much to use and double xp is a waste. Theatre mode makes a comeback, but for some reason the game begins lagging horribly when its turned on, black ops did not have that problem. This game is mw2 with different maps, less spec ops, campaign and innovation. if anything this game takes steps back and should be called mw1.9.

Pros: Balancing, more maps, finishes the storyline

Cons: Same s**t we've seen for the last 4 years, same graphics, short campaign, less spec ops missions, no creative gamemodes, no creative perks, recycled animations and sound effects, 8-13 year olds will rule the online community. (isnt this game rated M for MATURE?!?!??!?!!)

if you really like the cod series, go for this total waste of money. cause all your getting is some new maps..

For me personally I get my enjoyment( or lack there of since MW2) from the MP side. What I do not understand is how arrogant a company can be with the lack of releasing the most complete game they can. There has not been a public beta for COD since WaW. When you possess the most played game on xbox and you do not tap your customer base for early feedback and testing you are foolish. Even if some of the people dont report bugs/glitches you could bet your ass there would be tons of youtube videos with step by step guides as presently. So that brings us to what I view as MAJOR problems for the multiplayer side of the game :

    1) Lag --> Between the last 2 releases of the series as of right now a low gross estimate on $$$ is 1.5billion dollars....Instead of being proactive with this monster of a earner. Activision and their studios repeatedly spit in the faces of the consumers by not having dedicated servers. God forbid they divert at most 50million of their profits(a one time budget cost factoring in equipment, employees to upkeep for 10years ) to make the best experience for their customers. 2) Glitches --> Numerous upon numerous glitches, map exploits, kill streak exploits....It drives me insane that these were out within just 3 days of release. I have to ask who the **** was doing QA for IW/Sledgehammer? If you dont want to have a beta for your game fine, that is your prerogative. But don't you feed me **** about "How proud you are of your company's job well done on the game" aka Glen Schofield. Your people should be ashamed of the **** that made it out and we are only 13days in. If you don't have a beta you damn sure should have had these things patched up before the product shipped. 3) Team Killing in Hardcore modes --> I have no qualms at all about friendly fire when it happens, as a SnD players it makes it even more strategist in my opinion. However when you afford these idiots the ability to pull a rocket out and kill the entire team round after round with no repercussion, are you f@#@##@@### kidding me?!?!!??!?!?!?!? This was an issue in 4...Once again what the hell were YOUR employees doing Glen????; how is this not know pre launch or let alone resolved 13 days later. Activision, Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and now Sledgehammer do their customers an enormous disservice year after year and I personally have had my fill of it.

I regret buying this game so much, I made this account just to give this game a 0. There are much better games out their worth your investment. The game is basically a copy of Mw2 with new maps and guns, plus a subscription fee for something that should be considered free. The DLC is always overpriced.

With this game, however, there is no need. Sounds, animations (slow-mo death walk/crawls), and gameplay are all the same as previous entries. The campaign objectives become quite tedious and makes it feel pointless to even bother with. You want to become engrossed in the story but it never quite happens. 5 hours was all it took to complete the campaign, however you won't really want to play any longer. Spec ops is a little refreshing with the new survival mode but draws to much from other games to be original. You'll enjoy it for a while. Multiplayer is... do I even need to it again? It's the same. The most disturbing thing is the critics for the game have almost all given praise to this game. I believe this is a clear example of when the poeples opinion is more valid. If you've never played a Call of Duty before you'll enjoy it just as everyone their first time round. For vets this is the point where it's time to step down. This franchise really doesn't have mush left to offer. Let this be a lesson to publishers and developers who decide to milk their games dry. Expand

It is pathetic what so many nerdy fanboys choose to do just because they didn't like the game. MW3 is far from being the the best COD, and this comes from a real COD fan and player. So far this year i've played many sequels: saints row 3, assassins creed, Uncharted 3 and many more and i would love for somebody to tell what major differences those games have from their predecessors? Hell, the only difference between Uncharted 2 and 3 were a couple guns and the ability to customize their characters! and guess what? i didn't care! i didn't go on here and give the game a 1 just because of that! This just proves that rating systems from average users are BS and it makes me questions every other rating on here from users! are they legit or are they from a bunch of pissed off 12 year olds? this game isn't a 10, but it's farther from a 1! or a 3.2! i give this game 8.0. While it looks similar, the gameplay is far from the same. The support classes which help team members are good for players who want to help their team out and don't care about K/D, something that wasn't available in previous CODs. And the fact that taking over bases and going for the objectives helps towards your pointstreak helps a lot in making the game more objective based. But i guess that first thousand reviewers who chose to review in the first several hours of the release date wouldn't have know that. What if people would have done that for fanboy games like BF or Halo? omg, we would have a bunch of pissed of cry babies. I thought the single player would have sucked, but even though it was short, i've played through it 3 times (one time on veteran) and am planning on going a fourth time to find all the intel and get all the trophies. It's sad when you see the rating system so messed up. Only 252 people gave it an average review? in my opinion all the negative comments should be in the yellow review area! at least then the reviews would be more legit! What's sad is that the negative comments backfired on all the fanboys. If the reviews would have been around a 6.0 or a 7.0 then people would have taken the reviews seriously and decided not to buy it, but every person i know that read the reviews here laughed all the no life losers who had nothing better to do that give the review a 1. There are no games that have sequels that are truly reinvented and the ones that do are usually terrible *cough* Call of Juarez *cough*. And yes even battlefield 3 had literately no differences! it's just prettier and has jets! please tell me any other differences? the snipers work the same! the game modes are the same! yes it has a lot of guns, but it's obvious that most are some are better than others and all you see is that same guns online! and this is coming from somebody who plays BF3 and likes it more than COD! but just because i like BF3 better than COD it sure as hell doesn't mean i give the game a terrible review! I gave myself a couple weeks before reviewing, so i'm sure that my review is probably more legit than the bunch of 1's and 10's that put on here every 5 minutes. I wan't all the fanboys who say that MW3 is the same as COD4 and look at the differences between saints row 2 and 3 and uncharted 2 and 3 (both games that are reviewed highly both critically and with users) and find a major difference? something totally recreates the game and make it so much more reinvented? then i want you to think about BF3 and BFBC2 and tell me major differences that reinvent them? and not just prettier graphics and jets! i want to see if you can find any! and if you do and you think i'm full of cr@p email me and let's see how good of an argument you have: jakobpeter16@yahoo.com (that's a fake account i have for random things i do) I hope all you little kids that reviewed the game so low to look and say whether or not it realley is a 3.2 and whether or not you guys made the same mistake on every other sequel you ever reviewed? Although the graphics are a bit old school, the story is fantastic and online play is exactly what you know and love. With an amazing amount of DLC coming our way, this should have legs unlike the previous two. I know a lot of folks wished that the graphics were updated but it does not invalidate the fun and the innovative new team game varants.

It continually gets worse and worse, and Modern Warfare 3 is no exception. It is by far the worst installment in the entire Call of Duty franchise, even more disappointing than Black Ops. There's really not even a reason to go into detail about it. Nearly every aspect has taken a dive compared to Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2. It's more of the same, and even less impressive.

While it's definetely no revolution and is pretty much the same game as MW2, 3 distinguishes itself by rising above the beligirent nonsense that was started with Black Ops my least favorite Call of Duty. Modern Warfare 3 is a triumph in this matter, as it smartly chooses to go back to MW2's multiplayer system, one that feels still fun and enjoyable. What however, is the greatest part of this game? It's just pure fun. Whether your playing the great new survival mode that's clocking in my time or the multiplayer, which is the absolute best its ever been, there's so much to keep you interested in Modern Warfare 3 it would be blasphemy to say different. The multiplayer, the crowning achievement of MW3 is exactly what it set out to be, tweaked awesomeness, changing how unlocking guns work with new "gun ranks", and new playlists like "Kill Confirmed" help keep variety flowing in the game's veins. The single player campaign is actually quite good, while very short, the game still offers up the same hollywood style set pieces and epicness the series has been known for, and offers an ending that wraps up almost everything. Spec Ops however is my favorite thing about MW3. The new survival mode is amazing fun and addictive. The only huge problems are the lack of new graphical content which is enraging many players and should. The game is still running on the CoD4 engine, one that has met its age, and shows it. The only other problems I have are with the story, and I won't spoil any of those, so in the end, Modern Warfare 3 is no revolution, but its a damn fun game, and I don't think I need to say why. 8/10

With repetitive, boring campaign with obvious, desperate, and pathetic attempts to make you involved, to a disappointing set of spec ops missions, to a same old multiplayer, this game earns my title of worst COD game I have ever played.

The campaign. Easily the worst campaign in the series, MW3 attempts to provide you with dozens of block buster sequences to pull you into the excitement of the concluding story of the modern warfare franchise. On paper that sounds fine, but it suffers from one rule, the cookie jar rule. Cookies aren't as tasty when you can have them all the time, rather than when you mommy limits them daily. The block buster scenes become repetitive, and leave a bad taste in you mouth after your done. Not to mention the laughable and pathetic attempts to make you emotionally involved at scenes when innocent civilians died. And no, I'm not one of those people who thought the airplane scene was disgusting. Neither is this, but this one is just pathetic (you know what I'm talking about if you've played the campaign). In MW2, I adored spec ops. It was possibly my favorite thing in that entire game, but this game, disappointing. The missions saddened me. They were boring, and paled in comparison to the MW2 spec ops missions. I honestly wish I never touched them. Survival mode. While survival mode is the only fresh thing in this series, which is ironic because it has still been done by other games, I feel it is going to be forgotten. It is fun now, but after playing, I believe that by February, the game mode will be forgotten. It is not nearly as fun and addicting as Nazi zombies, primarily because of the steep difficulty slope. As the rounds progress, the enemies don't necessarily take more skill to kill, it just becomes literally impossible to kill them. The strategy in this game mode is minimal. It's hard to explain, but when you go on to that level 30, you say to your buddy, okay, we are going to die here, we almost died last round, we have no chance. That is not fun. It also lacks "breathing room." By that I mean the thing in zombies when you have one zombie chase you around till your ready or you have to go to the bathroom or you have to eat dinner or something, this game doesn't provide that. The 30 second interval isn't enough time to feel good about that new highest round you got to, or to just relax after an intense fire fight. The Multiplayer. What can I say, its MW2 multiplayer. If you want the same game, but without the SAME problems, this is your haven, but notice how I said the SAME problems. First off, the maps. Boring environments and repetitive styles make the MW3 maps are some of the worst in the series. There are no really good maps. There are only okay maps, and bad maps. They chose one style of map, and stuck with it, resulting in them all being very similar, just with different set pieces. The guns. The gun sounds in this game are hands down the best in the series. Every bullet feels like it is making an impact on your opponent, and every gun but one feels powerful in your hands. The killstreaks. The killstreaks are well balanced, but that is ruined by the sheer abundance of them. It is far easier to earn one in this game than any COD previous to this one.

Overall. The graphics are showing its age leading to boring and unimpressive visuals. The engine is as silky smooth as ever, running at a 60 frames per second, which on PC is disappointing, but on console is fantastic. It gives that ol' MW2 feeling again. Gameplay is same as MW2, so don't expect anything different.

So here goes my honest review of MW3. It's terrible, save your money, your not missing anything that you have not played before. literally exact same thing as previous games but somehow far worse

Graphics - 4 out of 10 Who cares about looking at graphics if your not having fun. which neither the campaign or multiplayer is. however taking the time to look around they are nothing spectacular and in someways worse than previous cod titles definatly far behind other games that are currently out now

Audio - 2 of 10. this being played on a 750 watt 5.1 surround system using digital optical out. I hate throwing this out there because I don't care for the battlefield series but audio quality compared to just other games is bad. Compared to what is perhaps the best audio of any game in history / battlefield 3 and even bad company 2. MW3's audio may as well be 8 bit NES stereo sounds.

campaign gameplay -2 out of 10 was there a campaign? 4 hours and its over. most of it completely lackluster and other parts so over the top it makes it lackluster. it only gets a 2 because IW was brave enough to kill off a character

And Finally for the meat and potatoes of all COD titles the multiplayer. 0 of 10. You've played other cod titles you've played this one. what makes it so bad though is it's complete lack of innovation and the completely unoriginal, boring clusterfks of what they call maps. Previous COD titles and im only referring to COD2 and MW had great multiplayer maps that became fan favorites. This stopped once IW started to copy treyarchs idea of no spot is safe map ideas. I love sniping in cod games or at least I did until everyone started to believe that quick scopping is fun and a legitimate tactic. which is pretty much what started the downfall of the cod series at least for me. I cant remember the names of the cod 2 maps. but they had awesome sniping maps where you could battle other snipers across the maps. from 3 story buildings and farmhouse silos with only 1 access to those sniping spots. and MW's overgrown and a few other maps that were great for sniping.

Then treyarch came along and started making these maps that sure may have had a upperstory window but with such a narrow viewpoint or a tree sticking in the way that it made them terrible spots. combined with throwing random objects in the way. but that's just for sniping.

perks are rehashed and even some of the fan favorites are gone. added with over the top, to many to count killstreaks and what is now the BS support package where you streaks don't reset upon death and everyone just guns for juggernaugh or osprey. this series has become stale and utterly rediculous so much so it's unplayable. for fans who have wanted a great cod since MW. sorry to say you will be stuck with MW. and blackops is still a great 2nd choice even though they are maps made by treyarch.

This game sucks, I can't believe people are still buying this crap. I can't believe I paid 60 bucks for this crap. It's exactly the same as Modern Warfare 2 except with a more boring campaign. The multiplayer is the same as 2, it gets boring after three games. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this game.

The best Call of Duty game so far. More addictive multiplayer along with a conclusive ending and Spec Ops makes this one of the best packages of the year.

Lets get this out of the way so we can focus on MW3. If your not playing Battlefield 3 on PC then zip it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. Boo hoo get over it did you really think it would be anything other? In story its nice to see the wrap up and felt like an old 90s Hollywood blockbuster I didn't mind much. It will never be as epic as MW, but hey I

The greatest strength to MW3 would be kill confirmed get ready for the run and gunners. You can't do much to FPS other then provide a epic story, I doubt MW will be that epic when trying to be grounded realism " I said trying gosh' . What MW3 is good at is being MW and in the end this will satisfy the casual gamer. If you want anything more then what MW3 is, I would look elsewhere there's only one other choice.

Modern Warfare 3 isn't a bad game. It just isn't a good one either. The campaign feels a little forced, while the multiplayer is just a rehash of the past few call of duty games. I play mw2 and black ops all the time but mw3 it a game that I have already gotten tired of and fixing sale it for something else. I really regret getting call of duty elite. It was a waste. I still are not giving up on the series just going to wait and see if next year they learn from their mistakes and come up with something that is more dignify of the call of duty name. Expand

There's not really a whole lot to say - MW3 is truly showing its age at this point. The single-player campaign was decent, albeit more of the exact same thing we've had in the previous two MW titles. I bought MW3 and a damn xbox just to play with friends. I played Black Ops on PS3 and I was really into it but I can't tell if xbox graphics are just bad or if MW3 looks bad. Overall I am having fun playing multiplayer and Special Op scenarios with friends, but graphics and progression since previous games are blah.

For a game that has garnered critical praise and broke records, this game just goes to show the "Madden Effect." Every year, same old game, little to no innovation. While the only redeeming quality of the game is the campaign which is the best of the trilogy, I cannot stress the moments where I paused a bit and thought to myself, "I've done this before or I've seen this before." The multiplayer is largely intact as it was in MW2 but I can't help but say that the maps just feel wrong and for some off reason, recycled from past games. Spec Ops will kill some time but you can only go so far with it. Survival only goes to show that games will borrow just about anything to make themselves more content rich but if I wanted this kind of game mode I would stick to Gears of War, but that's just me. Perks, maps, weapons and killstreaks all make a return but only with a few additions. Here is my opinion to sum up this criticism in case this has become boring. I did my best not reveal any spoilers.

Is this game good? Depends when you came into COD. For the vets of COD, it's a mixed bag.

Is it worth its value? No, I would've definitely bought this as a $20-30 expansion instead of a full fledged price tag of $60. Should I get it? I'd say if you're interested, rent it first before you buy it. To sum it all up: If you're new to the series or played the other MW games and don't mind the fact you're paying $60 for an expansion then go ahead and buy it. If you're like me, who's beginning to notice the Madden Effect in this once very popular franchise, then rent it but don't have too many great expectations, you may come away disappointed.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
