    Absolutely disappointed in this game. It is nothing but a recycled game with the same stuff from mw2. Its amazing that activision continues to rob people of their money by creating the exact same crap and charging people 65 dollars. MW3 is basically mw2.5. It is so similar that it feels like your playing mw2. People continue to throw their money away because of the name call of duty.

    Activision can shove mw3 right up there you know what. You have so many fans who love call of duty and you make an identical game because you know it will sell millions of copies no matter what. Activisions Bobby Kotick is a greedy idiot who ruining the game industry. I will never buy another cod game since there are game developers out there that deserve better like Naughty Dog.

    Massively disappointed with this game. To get straight to the point, I picked the game up on tuesday, and I am trading it in at Game today for Skyrim.

    Although some of the features of the previous game have been "tweaked", I find that the overall multiplayer experience is nowhere near as good as black ops. The gameplay is still quite borked, and every map is the same "run and gun"    Massively disappointed with this game. To get straight to the point, I picked the game up on tuesday, and I am trading it in at Game today for Skyrim.

    Although some of the features of the previous game have been "tweaked", I find that the overall multiplayer experience is nowhere near as good as black ops. The gameplay is still quite borked, and every map is the same "run and gun" style with very little variety between maps.

    As for the single player aspect - a 3.5 hour campaign is a bit of a joke for a £40 game, don't you think?    … Expand

It is a marvel that this game generated 1.1 billion, or rather is expected to. The very same lines remain in objective based game modes, those from Black ops, however now a new voice is pronouncing them. It is a disgrace to modern day gaming.     This game was a bit boring. Graphics engine seemed a little dated and Multiplayer kept crashing. I much prefer Battlefield 3. I also noticed that the xbox-360 version seemed to be a bit clippy, with the frame-rate dropping quite a lot. Compared to my friend's ps3 version the graphics were much worse too, with the textures being a real disappointment. Also the sound was very 'tinny'.

When I brought this game home and loaded it up I went into shock as I could not believe what I was playing. All the colours are pale grey or orange, and the graphics bleed and pixelate. They're way too tall and skinny and dressed in sci-fi gold uniforms. They waddle around like cheap action figures and it looks nothing like human movement. The guns shoot like laser guns and sound like powerless laser guns. And not a bit of recoil on the weapons.

    And the maps. Maybe the most important part. The previous 2 installments had some great maps, if there were weak maps they certainly were not broken. And they contained some element of modern design, within cities or landscapes where modern warfare would occur. They were not very realistic maps but contained thoughtful design. The maps of mw3 could not have been a map pack, they are terrible, it is a completely different game. The maps are a random assortment of pipes and corridors. There is no scale to the soldiers and the corridors are nothing like anything you'd ever imagine for modern warfare. Every map is exactly the same. Take the smallest black ops map, add 4 more corridors for every three, and make sure it is a random assortment of industrial junk. There is no thought to the maps whatsoever and no skill involved in the game because of it.

    This game is like stepping back into time to poor Halo knockoffs. There is nothing resembling Modern Warfare here. For those that complain of BF3 fanboys, well, the point is obvious. BF3 offers the best multiplayer gameplay since Left 4 Dead. As for a modern warfare game BF3 offers human soldiers, scaled environments, balanced maps, strategic structuring of teams, and vehicles. MW3 offers R2D2 warfare, no strategy, and consumerism. It is obvious which game is better, and there must be comparisons to BF3 because it is the best warfare multiplayer to date. MW3 only gets such great reviews because of Wall Street business tactics. It's an absurd joke on all of us who spent money on this game. I should have purchased Man vs Wild or something.    … Expand

    I have played modern warfare 2, and i must say that this game is virtually no different!, i am extremely disapointed and think this game is a joke, the men look like plasticine and the animations make the guy look like hes paralysed from the waist down. The graphics are out of date and there is a lack of any innovative new changes.     Not that there is anything wrong with the entire system of how MW works, but if it is exactly the same, why in the hell would you pay 60 dollars for a map pack? And dont bull****, we all know it is the same rehashed game. Campaign, sucks... period. Same TERRIBLE community of fanboys showing undeniable fealty to anything the devs say. 0 out of 10

Usually I do not care about graphics but this was just disappointing. I have played about 1h of multiplayer and I am totally sick of it! More campers than ever with a lot of 12 year old kids, way too easy to spawn kill, overpowered weapons etc. I could go on for a whole essay if I would have the energy to. There are a lot of glitches also, of course the game was just released but these are simple, easy glitches that should have been noticed instantly during the beta tests. The maps are all recycled with the same looks as earlier maps, nothing new. I am really disappointed mostly because I waited out in the cold rain for almost 12 hours with my friends and we really were expecting a good game. That this is not. Save your time, go play something else because this is not worth it. At least I can still sell this on eBay for 90% of the money.â    … Expand

    I don't understand how this game was in development for two years when it's the same as mw2. This is sad that this game has not changed. I'm happy i got this from gamefly instead of buying it.

    Modern Warfare 3 is little more than another $59.99 map pack for Call of Duty 4. It's really time that Activision did more than just employing 2 game developers to move building around on maps, change some textures and some minor tweaking of features and then calling it a new game. So lame.

    Not great - took no risks and kept the same twitchy gameplay. Boring. I enjoyed the previous games (with the exception of blops) but I have moved on to BF3.

Then, to have the audacity to go ask for people to write nice reviews for you? It's sickening. I'm never buying another iw ward game, and certainly not another call of duty. This series should have ended with cod 4.

    Wow 0.0 for failure to try anything new... BF3 all the way for me.. MW is officially dead! Multiplayer feels dusty old and used. Map design is horrid. Most of all i cant stand the little kids on xbox live.

Also why is it that when I fire a rocket at a building, the building holds up to said rocket? Rockets are explosive and explosions usually cause structural damage. Also lookup the number of bots/hacks/cheats for Call of Duty 2 you will see plenty of them that are still active and that the developer has done nothing about. Mw3 is a structurally solid game, and why shouldn't it be, it is the same formula since call of duty 4. So while the mechanics work well, they offer nothing new.     Very, very disappointing. Barely any work put into this game at all. Spawn next to an enemy happens far too frequently and I seem to lose connection a whole lot. The game engine has barely improved since CoD4. They seem to sit back, do as little work possible and just rake in the money because it carries the Call of Duty name. That won't last much longer.

    Same 'ol song and dance...It's horrible to see such a great franchise turn into something horrible. Of course it's all about the money on this one: X-box bundles, headsets, keyboards, mice, etc... It's amazing what little effort was put into the game and still grabbed as much cash from all the fans that were let down... =(

    If they fix the hit detection i may decide to play it again but for now it will sit in its case ill just keep playing battlefield. at least there i can see myself getting killed and now the guy had the jump on me.

    Francamente, se repiten. Me parece haber jugado ya a este juego una y otra vez. Si por lo menos el multijugador hubiera evolucionado y traiga novedades frescas e interesantes, pero no es un refrito de todo lo demás con un motor gráfico que envejece. Decepcionado. Ya pueden tomar medidas para el futuro.

    This game is basically a $60 map pack for MW2, and i can't respect that. I've bought every other cod game before this, and loved them...but this one just felt like the developers were cashing in more than ever, without any effort.

    Like everyone else is saying this is MW2 with a few updates....... Purchased the game when it came out played it and first people where already raked 30??? What the and 2nd thing is the graphics are so 2 years ago this game should of been updated and not pushed out the User score is correct.

    I truly feel betrayed by this title. I have bought every single cod game since it first came out and always wanted the special edition xbox for it.I finally felt like it was time and WOW, I am the proud owner of the special edition xbox of the worst call of duty I ever played. To make things worst I also bought CallofDuty Elite. I hope I can get my money back at least for the xbox.

    There is a reason this game has such a low user score. The game is an utter disapointment, and this is from a series fan who has been playing cod since it first started. Sure this game has sold insane, but now I think fans are just tired of the same old thing year after year. COD is eventually going to end up the same as guitar hero and tony hawk: a dead franchise. I read some of the user scores, and a lot of you are saying exactly what I'm saying, but yet you still give it 9s and 10s. If that doesn't scream fanboy I don't know what does. It's been a long run with COD since the beginning, but MW3 is the last COD game I will ever buy. Save your money for skyrim, arkham city, or uncharted 3. The best part of the multiplayer is that they have nerfed the "noob tubes" that was the worst part in any call of duty game

    Bought it. Played it for a day. Beat the campaign in 4 hours. Sold it the next day. Terrible game. Just an expansion pack for MW2. If you're looking for a game worth you4 $64 bucks, buy Skyrim.

    This game is nothing knew from what I've seen of it. I used to be a great mw2 fan and when i watched my roomate playing I thought he was still playing mw2...Same crap different year with these games. Do not waste your money on a 60 dollar map pack. Rent it or buy it wickedly old.

    Yes, this has slick voice acting and likeable characters, but in terms of gameplay, it's the same game I've bought twice before.

    Maybe MW2 and MW3 should have been campaign expansion/map packs for MW1! That would have been superb. Say $20 for that as downloadable content, instead of $50 as retail, where a staggering 30% goes to the shop, and a further 15% on distribution/manufacturing anyway!

    It's really disappointing to see the game take a step back, it doesn't justify the £40 price tag when I have three copies of the exact same game, COD4, MW2 and Black Ops. All feel the exact same so I'm not spending my cash on this game as a long term fan of the series playing 70 days+ on the previous three games except WAW which was also disappointing.

    Look at the sounds in multiplayer, WTF, each gun with a sliencer sounds almost same. M4A1 sounds like heavy machine gun. maps are so small, narrow, u just like a rat running in the street, it's full of crap and useless garbage. However, MW2's map are elaborately designed.

Well, this time, it's exclusively cramped city maps where multiplayer is pretty much reduced to running laps around the map. Very tiresome, very quickly. Combine this with poor sound design and a campaign that is completely laughable as it is short (I admit, that IS a good thing with how horrid the story is), and you get a game that is not worth a $60 price tag, nor is it worth the title 'The Most Anticipated Game in History'.    … Expand

    like most people pointed out there isnt much new to MW3 both in terms of single player and multiplayer. but I have found with this installment there are some "new" features clearly throwing the game out of balance. Black ops did a lot of things right as a "modern" Call of duty, and its absolutely foolish for sledgehammer(SH) to not adapt some of their ideas such as being able to unlock any attachment you want instead of a dual level based system. Sledgehammer's dual leveling system and poor matchmaking system does nothing but hurt new players as now they have to not only accquire general levels but then level up the gun as well to get a mix attachments and what used to be or should still be attachments. starting off with not only "starter guns" but nerfed guns at that with no bare minimum attachments and features that should be default on guns like decent bullet penetration pretty much makes you a sitting duck against the multitude of players that are already above general level 35. This disparaging level gap can also be attributed to the Mt. Dew promotion going on, another poor business based decision, and is skewing game balance.

    As far as the maps, many of them are actually redone or partially recycled versions of MW2 maps and by redone I mean SH just added way too much ambient garbage or "cover" to the maps and many of them instead of being realistic feel like you are trying to manuver through someone's house on an episode of "Hoarders." The blown up cars that were once faithful defenders against bullets can too often become death traps as your player model gets stuck on them and cannot stand up to quickly escape the area. SH tried to make many of the maps challenging but with the beavy of blindside pathways and dropping you in the center of the map oftentimes, the maps seem like charactures of military scenarios rather than a somewhat believeable combat experience. Explosion blast radius is way too big especially for some of the tight CQB maps. Explosions sometimes kill your through thick concrete walls without anytype of animation cliping to show the explosion went through.

    new player perks like stalker are nearly useless if not a detriment to your playstyle.

    while kill confirmed is a fun new game mode along with the VIP like flag capture mode, SH has virtually removed any incentive to play these and the other long time COD gamemodes as they are intended, because of the Mt. Dew promotion and just weak XP from doing objectives every game mode just boils down into people playing team deathmatch.

    most of these still existing problems were back from MW2 and still have not been fixed on top of a lot of recent additions to unbalancing and annoying to say the least game modes. SH just wasnt ready for prime time even cutting and pasting IW code, but it might also be time for the hardcore gaming community to hang up the boots on this franchise. Despite SH not being able to fill IW shoes and this game being severely premature considering what happened at IW I'm most disappointed in the professional critics that praised this cookie cutter garbage in order to suckle at the green teat of Activision.    … Expand

    Just another over hyped expansion pack for MW2 with minor tweaks to the MP system and a short unsatisfying and uninspired campaign with recycled graphics - only fanboys and dirty journalists on the take of Activision would rate this highly. The removal of talent from IW by Activision has doomed this game to epic failure.

    I am a big COD Fan but im sorry this is the worst COD of all times.They mess everything up about this game. this game should be name Mw2.5. Lets not for get that they did not even put back 3 person shooter.

    My previous review was wrong. This game is **** sub par. MW2 was a much better multiplayer and campaign experience. This isn't even made by the same studio, because almost everyone at infinity ward was fired after and before mw2.

    This game didn't do nearly enough for me and my bros. It didn't deliver cold brews to my house, didn't help me get any hot chicks, and overall just feels like more of the same game. All bros who wish to avoid a total brolocaust need to avoid this broriffic game for bros. Bro.

    No innovation at all, this is definitely the easiest, shortest and most lacklustre COD game I have ever played. Activision need the help of their twitter users to try and inflate MW3's terrible user score; i think that says it all.

    Nothing has changed about this game since Cod4. Beat the campaign in one night. Played online for 5 hours then sent it back. This games graphics looks like **** compared to most other shooters. No matter how much you try to cover up the games **** bit-map shading by using dynamic light, it still looks like a game from 2005. If you want to play a good game for 60$ you can find it elsewhere.

    60$ dlc I expect more from the big gaming company's. 2 years and all I get is a re-skinned version of MW2 with a changed leveling/perk system. Activision has the number 1 selling game out and they can not even improve their engine. They all are sitting on their fat bank account laughing at the consumers.

    Dont waste your money on this game get bf3 i have both games and everything is so much better in bf3 from the graphics to the multipalyer the sound the realism is just amazing in bf3, i wouldliketo call mw3, mw2.1 because it exactly the same as mw2 with a few more guns and perks and i new mode thats all

    congratulations Robert Bowling for taking everything good about the multiplayer for MW2 and Black Ops and totally screwing it up. All of the bugs of MW2 and NONE of the features or configurables of Black Ops. Well done. Totally broken multiplayer experience. A round of applause, please, for the man that could take a winning recipe and actually screw it up and get away with it.

    Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

    I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
