    I thought i put in the mw2 disc when i started playing this game, NO DIFFERENCE, Call Of Duty needs a MAJOR rethinking. The game is getting old, i mean comon activision, seriously!!!!!!!!!!!

    The same over and over again. I bought all the CoD but this is the first I won't buy. Same short campaing, same multiplayer full of cheats and campers. No more Activision.

    If you put mw2 and mw3 side by side, you would not be able to tell the difference. Its still just the same recycled game that came out in 2007. Graphics are very dated, this does not look like a 2011 game. Multilayer is nothing new, get a few kills then call in an airstrike and boom you're done.     The campaign is decent but only about 4 hours long. The multiplayer sucks, like everyone else says its just mw2 with nothing but broken promises of changes and updates. The elite service is also a joke, just a 60 dollar payment for another lame social network with no real use except the promise of maps in the future, question is will anyone play that long.     wow. i wish i would have bought 60 dollars of food and wasted 55 dollars of it. at least i would have enjoyed a little bit. the campaign is predictable and the multiplayer is old and seems to be getting worse as they release the same game every year

C'mon, they only kept that in the game to sell more copies. Riot Shields? Again? Should I say more? If they haven't gotten it by now they will never get it. This game is garbage.     I have played every CoD going all the way back to the first one on PC. MW3 is by far the worst version I've ever played. The map design is atrocious. It's very clear to me the map makers at Sledgehammer are not CoD players at all. They took MW2 and multilated it. What an absolute disappointment. My hope lies solely with Treyarch. Sledgehammer needs to be dumped by Electronic Arts ASAP!

The maps are all recycled with the same looks as earlier maps, nothing new. I am really disappointed mostly because I waited out in the cold rain for almost 12 hours with my friends and we really were expecting a good game. That this is not. Save your time, go play something else because this is not worth it. At least I can still sell this on eBay for 90% of the money.… Expand

    I bought this game due to all the hype and now regret it, the multiplayer is the same old boring mp of camping and getting "pointstreaks" the spec ops mode is the only good thing about this game but still not worth buying, your better of buying the bunch of games already coming out like skyrim or if ur really into fps get bf3.     Not sure why it is gone but this game had a 2.8 overall user rating with over 5000 reviews. Its a bummer of a game with the worst multiplayer experience of any game to date. Random lag in every game. The better your internet, the worse it lags. Did Infinity Ward pay metacritic to delete the reviews? Strange.

    Picked this up on release after playing Black Ops last night to prepare. Guess what? It was the SAME GAME. So entirely disappointed, I can't believe they hyped up this game to have it be nothing more than a map pack released for $60 that runs worse online. all i have to say: great game!............NAT

Honestly, this game is kinda like nhl and madden, ggets released every year with the same bull **** and some how game review companies give it 9s and 10s. The multi-player is still nicely polished and remains a benchmark for online play, but these cookie cutter releases are rushed out so often that it's too embarrassing to be caught playing it.     Game is Call of Duty. Nothing new. Mainstream **** Look at other game sequels, flourishing with new forms of innovation that bring to a title. This game has turned into something very similar to TV shows. The first few were good, gets pretty crappy afterwards.

    This is MW 2.5. For years now the call of duty franchise has been shipping out the same game year after year and making millions off it while games like Battlefield 3 put so much work into their games only to be outsold by a game we've all been playing since 2008.

    This is a game for magpies. You get a shiny every few seconds for everything you do. Even for when your doing badly. Yes, you get rewarded for doing badly! Graphics are exactly the same as MW 2. Even the story is boring and less interesting then MW 2. If you aren't sure about buying this game or not. Don't, pick up Battlefield or at least warfare 2. It far excels this.

    Its just cloned clone of clone of the eldest CoD. Is it ANY difference between thins game and CoD 4? I don't think so... The only good game those people made was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Only FIRST MoH... And the still feel like warfare gods. Shame on you people.

    Terrible campaign, enemies infinitely respawn, and run past your AI partners just to kill you. The spec ops mode is uninspired and dull, and the maps for online multiplayer might as well have been a download map pack. Definitely not worth 60 dolars and its getting old really fast releasing a game year after year, running on the same graphic engine and not changing any of the gameplay mechanics.

    Dear Christ get real. Anyhoo, dear discerning readers and prospective buyers, all one has to do is simply READ the reviews. So far I haven't seen a single super-negative review that doesn't list off their points for rating this game as such. Not a single negative review I've seen even makes mention of BF. The only times BF gets mentioned is when the super fanboys (and no I don't arbitrarily consider one who simply enjoys COD to be a "fanboy" -- I'm referring to, as I mentioned earlier: the ones who put this game on a pedestal simply because of what it's called and spend more time on the internet trolling sales figures than providing valid points for what actually makes this game anything good... damn that was a long parenthetical eh?) come on here, see the negatives and make such baseless claims. Be warned people: If you are on the fence about it and haven't bought it yet, it literally is not worth the full price. I can't stress this enough. This game is, at best, a $19.99 expansion. Failing that, a 1200 microsoft point DLC pack. People ARE NOT exaggerating when they label this game as such. Of course the die hards making twenty accounts to label this game a perfect 10 are going to take offense to this.... but take a look at their responses (for a little fun in sociological study):

    Stealthing is very hard. I'm not a camper but the UAV's coming in every second and heavy footsteps even when crouching made it very hard to approach an enemy comfortably nested in the corner. Because levelling up takes a long time, you don't get to unlock anything of any benefit until at least around level 40, which is probably about 12-15 hours of game play!

    Until then, you're a deer in the middle of a stampede, you're Simba in The Lion King (you know the sad scene where he is almost trampled). You're fubarred.

    I understand it is a different developer from Black Ops, but gee, they could have at least taken some good ideas. The matchmaking for one, the fact it doesn't constantly spawn you RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENEMY and then spawn them RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU at critical moments! I think I waited about 15 seconds a time to spawn and instantly be killed for about 6 or 7 times in capture the flag at one point!

    Oh, they didn't include locale match making too. It was great when I could play against people with connections closer by, when lag was less frequent and you could see enemies before they saw you. I'm in the UK and I'm guessing mostly Americans play this, which is great for them but not for us Europeans who have to send data to the states and back!

    What's with the support packages as well? Do we really need a UAV called in every few seconds?    … Expand

The level design in this game is the poorest attempt by any call of duty, survival mode is terrible and just bad in general the only good step forward are the kill streaks.. That is seriously the only good thing about it. It's not worth a 0 out of 10 on it's own but compared to what it should be then yes it deserves the 0.

    Moving on, I decided to go to the bread and butter of the game: the multiplayer. I'll admit to enjoying Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2, as I did find them fun. However, my time with multiplayer in MW3 was absolutely horrid. The menus lagged, the game almost froze up on me, and when I finally entered a game, I was having terrible framerate issues. No, I did not install it on my hard drive, but such a problem to exist when it's literally one of the selling points they've been throwing out there for the past several months is unacceptable.

    I've since returned my copy, and don't plan on picking this game up ever again.

The game runs under the same engine as every previous game, dating back to Call of Duty 2 from 2005. If you do a side-by-side comparison of Call of Duty 2 and MW 3, you will see how little progress has been made graphically 6 years later. Since the engine is still the same, the physics, AI, and everything else that goes into gameplay is still the same. This is clear laziness on the developers' parts and shows that this franchise is going nowhere fast. I own every Call of Duty except for Big Red One and MW3, and for good reason. This review contains to silly bias, as I've been a fan of the series much longer than 99% of its fans even knew the series existed, let alone played one of its installments. Take it from me, this series is dead and if you're a gamer with accelerating preferences, this is not the game for you. If you're wondering whether to purchase MW 3 or Battlefield 3, buy neither. Unless you have a high-end PC, Battlefield isn't the game for you either, as its console versions are a poor representation of the series. Unfortunately, the biggest concern with MW 3 is how it will impact the rest of the industry.     This game is not fun. It might be perfect in the eyes of the creators and critics, but it isn't fun to play. Spawn points are seriously flawed. There is constant spawn killing. Not spawn camping, but spawn killing. The game lacks a sense of team work because of the spawn problems. If you don't spawn with your team, you can't fight with your team. The game is a Huge disappointment.

I had high hopes for this game after Black Ops was so bad but this game is unbelievably worse than Black Ops. Multiplayer is absolute garbage and only looks to make you angry rather than get any enjoyment out of it. If it is not the terrible lag getting you killed, it is the the terrible spawns. Just imagine killing someone only to have him spawn right behind you and shoot you in the back. Sound like fun? Then there is the $50 rip off that is Call Of Duty Elite, the service does not work! It is a glitchy, buggy mess, and they can't fix it.

A little history about me: I've dropped easily hundreds of hours into MW2 multiplayer until all the hackers, quick-scopers, and all sorts of crap started showing up without a single patch to balance or fix the game and I dropped MW2, ticked beyond belief, and went to Battlefield instead. Black Ops brought me back with innovative and different feel and Zombies zombies zombies.
    Now here comes MW3, like your ex-wife/girlfriend who comes back into your life after so many years after your bitter break-up, now all dressed up in sexy clothing and make-up trying to seduce you back...and when you fall for the trap...BAM, you realize you got played...underneath it all you realize that you're dealing with the same BS that made you hate the wench in the first place!! That was the feeling I had when playing my first hours of both Single Player and Multi-Player.

    Some Lowpoints, to name a few: -- Lame single player campaign - "Lets chase Makarov around the globe, again and again storyline", Sequences are all rehash of MW2 sequences: bang bang, kill kill, sneak sneak, cheap deaths, many innocents die but we don't care, rehash AC-130 sequence, run run, someone "important" dies, boo hoo (not really), game over...all in a matter of a handful of hours where you simply...just...don't...care. -- Multi-Player - Spec Ops, rehash of single player, nuff said. Multi-player - Within THIRTY MINUTES of my experience, I got "quick scoped" over and OVER again!!??? ARRGHH!!! W...T...H!?? The cheap tricks are back!!?? They obviously DID NOT listen to the fans at all = Activision does not care about you. Strike packages are lame, especially the Support package which still REQUIRES kills to "support" your team. Kill streaks happen every 2 seconds with no breathing room. -- Multi-player maps are about 50% SMALLER in size it seems, where spawn-and-die is the recurring theme. There are no dynamics or good feel about ANY map that I have tried with any game type, and Kill Confirmed is a lame tack-on and forgettable. Weapon balancing is terrible no matter how you think about it.

    In summary, my buddies and I who ran and pwned both MW2 and Black Ops multi-player literally STOPPED playing after just two hours of BS on MW3 multi-player. We all also play BF3 and HANDS-DOWN find that it is a better, more in-depth experience that MW3 would ever HOPE to achieve. So Glen Schofield, you've made half a billion dollars off of your loyal and devoted fans, and yet here on Metacritic your game stands at a lowly 3 score. Take your money and run, Infinity Ward got it right when it left Activision in the first place.    … Expand

Without trolling at all I seriously do feel like I'm playing MW2 (which I always play). IDK this game will be great for hard core COD lovers but me, I already traded mine in.

The campaign is weak and often attempts emotional cheapshots that, if reasonably analysed, are there to spark controversy from the media and not any emotion. The reason i have given this game a 2/10 and not a 1/10 is because of the new survival mode in spec ops. It is slightly fun but nothing we have not seen from other games such as the Gears of War horde mode. Now to the multiplayer. Graphics remain unchanged from Modern Warfare 2, the previous call of duty. The core mechanics have not changed. These elements combined give the player a rehashed and unchanged experience from Modern Warfare 2. Buildings, guns, kill/pointstreaks have even been used from previous call of duty's. Essentially, this game shows a several companies, led by Activision, milking a series until it can no longer be milked. When i say milked i mean making the same game over and over until the gaming community and critic's become aware of this money grab that is call of duty. This has not happened, unfortunatly. We are being sold a disgrace to gaming in general which mocks our intelligence.… Expand

    Same old, same old. You can't expect that by adding 4 million new things to multiplayer it will be improved in any way. It's just a way of saying oh look at me, look how complex and multi-faceted I am. And asking people to vote one here because the user score was looking low? That's not good... not good at all...

    No innovations and the worst maps I have ever seen make this game almost unplayable. I've played all the Call of Duty games religiously and love them but MW3 is garbage. Multi-player is pure spray and pray! No talent involved

    not change much of anything the game, and especially hate the game because I can not play online, I'm from South America, to be specific to Ecuador, and have blocked the region is the worst thing they could do, you buy the game to play , not to clog it, and we will provide you with. bad desicion by activicion makes lower the reputation of this great game.

    It's the same exact game you have been playing for the last 4 years. You've got to be kidding me, why is this game 60$? To me it doesn't make sense to keep releasing a new game every year when the games are rushed; it feels as though every COD is a cash-in. Quit wasting your money with this game.

If you want to play MW3 but dont feel like spending 50-65 dollars, go to Gamestop and pick up a copy of CoD4, because you'll end up with the same results: bad, bad, bad.     Cod series= Madden series same garbage every year and a good way for people to lose out on so much better games and this yearand there were a WHOLE LOT BETTER games this year

    What a huge let down. I don't know what was worse, this game or the ending of "LOST". My friends and I are now playing BF3. Black Ops was way better then this piece of **** game, its just a $60 map pack for mw2. Pure laziness.

    You would think that after so many years of making call of duty games, it should work out of the box. This game is a step backwords. Black ops still the best in my opinion.

    While MW3 may be fun for 15 dollars I don't like to pay sixty dollars for map packs. Other than new maps all this game brings to the table is a campaign that doesn't know the word juxtaposition, new guns, and new perks. I remember when a sequel to a game used to be a new experience not a rehashed slightly prettier game. Overall just not worth it to the average consumer

    There is absolutely nothing new about the newest Call of Duty. It is essentially a $60 map pback. No updated graphics and is definitely missing the crotch grabbing enthusiasm of the MW2 story line. Additionally, it has some of the worst multiplayer maps that I've ever seen and as such holds little to no replayability for even the most enthusiastic fps fan.

    Modern Warfare 3 is just another rushed call of duty game with practically everything re-used. Most likely just compete with Battlefield 3.
    The only people I found to be buying this game is the non-gamers that play once in awhile. Which don't know a good game when they seen one.
    Over-rated. Should of called it MW2.5

    I have played all the COD games for years. MW3 is terrible!!! Single player mode is very predicable, they did nothing new 4 hrs and your done. Most of all multiplayer was very disappointing. Its like a $60 map pack. I have never played any of the battlefield games but I will give them a try. The only good about this game is the 2012 Jeep 4x4!

    yikes. thank god I didn't end up spending any money on this. It was immediately obvious when I started a match at a friends what a horrible remake of MW2 this was. BF3 was a great investment.

There are a lot of glitches also, of course the game was just released but these are simple, easy glitches that should have been noticed instantly during the beta tests. The maps are all recycled with the same looks as earlier maps, nothing new. I am really disappointed mostly because I waited out in the cold rain for almost 12 hours with my friends and we really were expecting a good game. That this is not. Save your time, go play something else because this is not worth it. At least I can still sell this on eBay for 90% of the money.… Expand

    Don't waste your money with this filth. Go on steam and buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1. Much less expensive, and you get the exact same gameplay.

    Love the series but hate hate hate this game. No innovation, just the same rehashed game we have seen every year for the last couple of years. The multiplayer is worse than ever thought.

    Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

    I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
