    I expected this to happen look at Activision's past history and quality of games. For example the Tony Hawk and guitar hero series these game were just pumped out by Activision year after year untill we stopped buying them then they just move on to the next game. Sadly the same thing IS going to happen to the Call of duty franchise in a few years time we will all be looking back on it asI expected this to happen look at Activision's past history and quality of games. And we are the foolish people supporting the game aslong as we still buy there games they will still keep COPYING AND PASTING the same thing over and over again. I mean have we seen much change since COD 4 to MW3. The only thing i can note is a slight Change in graphics different gun's and different maps, THATS IT. OH and how its become more and more unbalanced, and how have we not noticed what Activion really stands for its in there name. ACTIVISION= A llways C heat T he I nnovation VISION. Do i need to say much more? The only people i feel sorry for is the studios TREYARCH and INFINTY WARD'S credit, Now for the real question how do we solve wasting our money every year on the same game? Its simple really DONT BUY THE GAME. But saying all of this dont turn down BLIZZARD games at all ever, they are one the greatest studios of all time and they have HIGH PRODUCTION VALUE'S. But for all who read this review If your sick of this game there are plenty of other games out there and studios that need supporting. Now dont get me wrong im not a hater or a troll but im trying to get the point out that COD isnt the only game out there and the more people that support it the longer Activision will keep pumping them out. Also dont aim all of your negative energy to Activision they arent all bad, aim it at ROBERT KOTICK THE EXPLOIT MAN A.K.A CEO of Activision. If he continues like this he will be the downfall of Activision, think of it this way every copy of COD you buy just add fuel to the fire of Kotick's Greed.     It's a complete repeat of M.W.2 the campaign is the same (but it kills off the best character close to the end.) Multi-player is awful. Whenever i play with my friends we just yell at each other the whole time. Games are supposed to bring people together not tear them apart, imbalanced game-play is unacceptable.

    This game would be fun if it was 1999 and the internet was 1000 times better. Actually no, that wouldn't change anything. If this was MW2 it would have CRASHED AND BURNED and there would be no MW3.

    Terrible! I can't believe they would push something so bad, so lacking to the consumer. It's MW2.5, for sure. The spawn points suck-nothing like being killed, then respawning right next to the guy that killed you. And how many bullets does it take to take down another player in multiplayer? Too many. I've put a good 4-5 rounds into a player, only to be shot down my less bullets.... this isTerrible! I can't believe they would push something so bad, so lacking to the consumer. It's MW2.5, for sure.     I'm honestly wondering WTF did i just buy. What were they thinking??? Shotguns as a primary and semi-auto nub tubes. This is not a modern warfare game this is a black ops mw2 knockoff. I just want to thank you for ruining modern warfare!! I can't believe we waited this long for this!! I'd rather play black ops and i hate that game.     This game is by far the worst game that Call of Duty has created. Infinity Ward should be ashamed by how this game came out. Game play has not changed since CoD 4 and the campaign did not live up to expectations in the slightest. In my opinion Infinity Ward should take every copy of this game to a skeeter shooting range and take a few hours to put a shotgun shell into every copy.

    Tonight there was huge patch rumored for MW3. The spawns have been completely fixed to a true Black Ops style system; damage on the Type 95, Striker and all dual wielded weapons has been cut in half; extended mags on all guns only adds more bullets to the clip not more bullets per shot; shotguns have a max effective range of 15 feet with range on, 10 feet without; assassin doesn't hide youTonight there was huge patch rumored for MW3. This patch hasn't been scheduled for release and never will be.

    If you can't tell, there are plenty of things which could be fixed with this game as far as the multiplayer gameplay is concerned, but to date have yet to be addressed. The patches which have been released have done nothing to improve overall playability (if they were even patches at all, most people can't even see or feel a difference). I've stopped playing this all-together and am sorely upset that I spent over $100 on the weakest, most overhyped game in COD history. Please don't make the same mistake millions have made.     if you are choosing this game over battlefield 3, you are an idiot. the CoD series hasn't changed in a few years, this is no different. if you like paying $60 a year just to keep playing same game, you're probably in a fraternity or your parents buy all your video games and don't check sites like metacritic before you buy things. be smart, buy a real game.

    I made an account just to voice my opinion on how bad this game is. And it is that MW3 is what kills COD. This game is truly the worst thing I have ever played in a long time. Stick to game developers that don't rehash the same ole same ole to turn a profit. Do not buy.

    I have no time at all for the Treyarch entries and never have done but I've always been curious about what the next Modern Warfare game would be like (although I expected virtually nothing new at all).
    I expected to hate it, then somebody bought it for me as a Christmas present. I just finished the campaign and I have to say that even though it still feels like Call Of Duty 4 (in every single way), I was somewhat satisfied with it. I enjoyed how the story continued from the previous games and it helped me kill a few hours.

    However I have to say that the multiplayer is exactly what I expected and worse; a montage of complete chaos; requiring virtually zero skill, poor (and repetitive) voiceovers, yet more messy killstreak (or 'pointstreak') rewards and pathetically dated animation (try and watch another player sprint, without laughing out loud). In general it feels like the multiplayer experience has gone backwards since COD4, if anything.

    Activision need to learn that improving on a game's multiplayer does not just mean adding extra things to the previous year's game. It requires new modes, new features, new challenges, new possibilities and in this case; a completely new engine (how they are still getting away with using the COD4 engine is beyond me).

    On the whole, there is SOMETHING enjoyable about MW3. Is it worth the hype that gaming publications have given it?
    -No.

    Is it worth the ridiculously high scores that gaming publications have given it?
    -Absolutely not.

    Is it worth a user score on 3.2 here on Metacritic?
    -Perhaps.

    Does this franchise need to be rebuilt from scratch?
    -Absolutely.

    I'm giving this a 5.0 because the campaign was indeed fun for me, but if not for that then I would be giving this a 0. It's nothing more than an expansion pack and I would have indeed been hugely disappointed if I had invested £40 in this game, just to find out that I had received an expansion pack for a very old game (CO4). Activision and their subsidiaries need to hear the message and hear it clear; 'START CREATING VIDEO GAMES AGAIN AND STOP COPYING AND PASTING THE PREVIOUS GAME EACH AND EVERY YEAR. IMPRESS US AGAIN, LIKE YOU DID WITH CALL OF DUTY 4. SHOW US THAT YOU CAN STILL PRODUCE A FRESH AND ORIGINAL TITLE'.

The weapons don't make since in their stats, and yet again a fully automatic weapon is the most accurate from a distance when pitted against an assault rifle with 3 shot burst or single shot; it wins every time. It also seems as if the ENTIRE mapmaking team decided on one ***ing theme: Lets put some buildings in a flat area. Seriously? Compared to the last COD game, Black Ops, the guns look a lot worse and the kill-streak system is terrible. Imagine if Madden 12 came out and it was basically a more terrible version of Madden 10...thats what MW3 is.… Expand

    Watch a gameplay video. Is the first thought "WTF? Why am I watching a MW2 video?" because that was mine.

    Secondly:Gameplay, the game play is just absolutely -terrible-, I think I should point out that a person can 360 no scope with a bolt action rifle can get a head shot with no problem.That is terrible.Just plain out terrible.And again, another example of what can happen during multiplayer gameplay, a person with a riot shield, can just aim at a helicopter and have -ALL- of the bullets that were shot by the helicopter, reflect back into the helicopter, I want to point out that RlCb30 ((What a real riot shield is made of)) would've broken by the 3rd shot, due to helicopters shooting high caliber bullets, the shield would just break into pieces and your corpse would be torn apart.
    Take it from me, this game is the absolute definition of terrible.
    Also the campaing is just watered down from Modern Warfare 2.    … Expand

    This game is just terrible. It's basically a DLC for MW2 that costs $60. The guns are terrible, the maps suck, the spawns don't make sense and every gun has Instakill built in. Everyone camps for killstreaks and no one plays the objective, it's sad to see what has happened to the call of duty franchise. Hopefully, Treyarch can improve these problems in Black Ops 2.

    There is too much wrong with this game to give it a good grade. The radar is inaccurate, the gun stats within the game are inaccurate, many promises made by Robert Bowling are not kept. For example the last stand feature. The guns are totally unbalanced. There are only a couple of guns worth using in the game if you want to play competitively. For some reason everyone runs much faster and stiffer which leads to choppy almost lag like movement that you have to aim at when trying to shoot your opponent I used to hate modern warfare 2 because of the same reasons but i recently went back and played modern warfare 2 and it actually plays better. Overall this game is extremely bad and in my opinion it has ruined the franchise. I have decided to never by another call of duty. The critics need to play the game under regular average player conditions to give more accurate reviews because i cannot understand why they graded this game so absurdly high. Its so sad really since the first modern warfare was so balanced and solid. it was so near to perfection that everyone just kept buying the sequels. But guess what? This isn't call of duty 4. This is a cluster **** of **** I guess i will just stick to halo...… Expand

    I cannot see much changes in this and MW2. Graphics: The same. Storyline: Shoot shoot kill, in other words, The Same. Multiplayer: The same. This is literally a DLC, or an expansion pack or something for MW2.

    What can I say. Well it is certainly starting to seem that Activision really like the copy and paste button on there solid gold plated desktops. So november same around again and activision decided that they needed to line there pockets with even more money. Well sad to say I think they may have succeeded.

Considering this my attitude to MW2, imagine my surprize when the thinking caps down at Activision went into over drive and made MW3. Once again all I can say is wow thats a nice texture pack and DLC. Fair enough the mutiplayer is fun, but its no different from the first two. The only thing worth a penny in the call of duty series right now is the Zombies mini-game, considering a lack of that in this title to me it is worthless. Want some fun, go out and buy something you have never played before, because in about ten years time your going to look at your game collection and realised that for those ten years you spent just over £1000 on the same game every single year.    … Expand

'This game delivered no shocks, no surprises that I haven't seen before or anticipated. At least in MW2 'No Russian' was a shocking thing to play through. And of course CoD4 had the nuke explosion. The campaign was lackluster and under prepared. It felt rushed and like with all CoD campaigns now, you have no earthly clue what's going on. Single player gets a 1/10 because it did bring everything full circle and now maybe Infinity Ward can get back on track to making a great single player experience. Multiplayer was just as awful as MW2. It's become an arcade game with horribly overpowered guns and people that make use of the ability to camp 24/7. The maps aren't all that enjoyable to play on and they don't feel like new environments that I enjoy from video games. I get that it's hard to build on past success but Infinity Ward has really let itself go by appeasing to the masses with their multiplayer experience. Multiplayer gets a 0/10. I'm glad people are finally realizing that this series has gone down the hole from it's glory days, but as long as it has a Call of Duty title, it will make MILLIONS of dollars. An… Expand

It's filled with children, rehashed content, the only thing that changes from game to game are the perk, maps, and killstreak. Alright, let me be clear, if this was an independent game I would give it a 4 or 5 but as a closing game in a trilogy it comes with certain expectations. Those were not met. at all. MW2 was bad, but not anywhere near the level that this game was. Just to hit a few quick points: a coordinated simultaneous terrorist attack across all of Europe, a Russian Navy, a naval invasion of NYC, kidnapping the presidents daughter to coerce him (there are safeguards against this in the Russian laws), the peace treaty being signed with no repercussions, the vigilante justice of Makarov (he would be captured, tried, and hung), the unbalanced multiplayer, the underpowered airbased killstreaks, the broken perks, the support killstreaks, awful spawn system, etc. These are all the things wrong with the game, I don't feel like typing for 20 minutes to elaborate, but look them up if you need to. I'll admit some of spec ops was fun again, but I don't buy games for 5 minute side missions.… Expand

    Campaign: Probably the most plot-hole riddled garbage I've ever had the misfortune to play. While the level design is decent, the actual setting and story was horrendous, even worse than Modern Warfare 2's campaign. What happened to Infinity Ward making good stories? COD4 had a brilliant story. Modern Warfare 3's story sucked.

    Multiplayer: This is where the real bashing begins. Since Multiplayer is a copy-paste from MW2, everything that Infinity Ward got wrong in Modern Warfare 2 is also wrong in this game. Balancing is off, the spawn system is broken, and griefers and hackers run amock trying to troll players. They even failed to get the thing they tried to emphasize in this game:gun-on-gun gameplay. Point streaks are the only thing I don't disagree with, but you'll hear hundreds of gamers complaining about how point streaks, "Take no f***ing skill."

    SpecOps: Fun for 3 weeks. After that, whether or not you've unlocked everything, I guarntuee you will lose interest.

    DLC: Downlodable content from Call of Duty is usually lacking in quality. MW3's DLC are no exception. And, with the inclusion of COD ELITE, Activision is trying to drain even more money off of their consumers. Honestly, what is this world coming to?

    Final Verdict: Awful, awful game. I don't know why all the mainstream critics say this game is good, and I'm actually starting to suspect Activision bribed them all to give MW3 a good score. While the formula for a Call of Duty game can still work, for me, it completely backfired and the experience feels exactly the same from Black Ops and even from Modern Warfare 2.

However, I recommend trying different types of games altogether if you think mastering MW3 is as fun, if even worth your time, compared to playing MW2 or BlackOps some more. CoD has just become a foregone conclusion to me. Every year we will see some new twist on it that keeps the revenue train rolling but like a girlfriend you've grown tired of over time, it doesn't matter how many different positions or costumes they try on, things get stale and depressing until both parties move on with their lives. I see all the other mediocre user reviews as symbology of a bitter end to what used to be a grand love affair. It makes me sad to see you go CoD but I just can't stand to be in the same room with you anymore. Maybe I'll call you in a month or two when I get really desperate but for now let's just try to make this a clean separation.… Expand

    I've never seen a more hyped letdown of a game than this. The graphics are God awful (I really can't believe I see all these idiot critics who say this is the pinnacle of graphics) The game play is jerky, characters are glitchy and don't seem to take notice of the level geometry at all, and the game is absolutely devoid of all exploration like every other call of duty game.     lol i prefer black ops 2, this game is so bad. im so happy i can stop playing this and get on that new **** i hate this game so much the developers should be put to shame and lose their job.

    This game sucks. The only good thing to this game, is the graphics, and even those are slightly out of date. The multiplayer is unbalanced, the campaign is awful. And worst of all campers.

    Lag, Camping, instant deaths, and Spawn killing, that's all I have to say about this game. Clearly, this game was rushed which explains how it could be so unballanced online. Not worth buying.

The campaign's gameplay is not that notable besides the slightly interesting story, and is basically 8 hours of shooting wave after wave of Russians and terrorists, which can be fun at times, but is nothing special. HOWEVER, as a sequel to the Call of Duty series, it is a piece of, for a lack of a better word, garbage. It is a rehashed modern warfare 2, with even the same graphics engine. Bringing basically nothing new to the table besides a few maps and gameplay types, the campaign is a boring trip of gruff voice acting and lots of explosions. The multiplayer is literally the same thing, you could even call it a DLC for Modern Warfare 2. This game was like a Michael Bay movie...… Expand

There is nothing new in this game, its just an addon to mw 1 who was original. it annoys me a game could be so repetetive and loose sight of what should be the greatest game.     After playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and all the previous games in the franchise (Since 2007, as we generally do not care about the WW2- themed games before Call of Duty 4, said games having stopped being produced after the 90's), there are several concepts I am beginning to grasp. First, after playing the multiplayer for at most 2 hours per game, I am increasingly feeling thatAfter playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and all the previous games in the franchise (Since 2007, as we generally do not care about the WW2- themed games before Call of Duty 4, said games having stopped being produced after the 90's), there are several concepts I am beginning to grasp. First, after playing the multiplayer for at most 2 hours per game, I am increasingly feeling that they should rename the franchise: 'Camping Simulation: Modern Tent Erecting'. If you've played for more than an hour, you'll know what I mean. This is a distinct (but not the sole reason) why the multiplayer has gradually become a mind- numbing, boring, irritating experience which generally would put anybody with an ounce of sanity off the franchise completely. Second, both Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sludgehammer games are becoming increasingly lazy- probably because they're too busy bathing in the money they get from all their previous games and the overpriced map packs they subject the online community to- and have descended into more or less not caring in the least about how good their content actually is; the story line for single player mode was anticlimatic considering where we left off with Modern Warfare 2, the multiplayer was unplayable and 'Spec Ops' was tedious as the day is long. Third, after looking at the reality-defying sales figures considering how much of an utter travesty the game was, it is clear to me that the title 'Call of Duty' is simply associated with popularity. Get 50 million dogs to in paper bags and slap an official 'Call of Duty' sticker onto each bag and sell them in game stores and by the end of the month you'll have made hundreds of millions of dollars. The only reason people aren't doing this to get rich quick is because of Copyright and Animal Cruelty laws, but neither apply to those actually responsible for the franchise and subjecting the world to it; watch out, they might try this tactic with Modern Warfare 4. Finally, after playing the game and looking at critic reviews, it appears that game critics are either under the control of Activision, have mental issues or enjoy heavily abusing amphetamines before they make a game review. How anybody could make it past the title screen without raging about how they wasted $60, let alone playing the game for a while and concluding that it's good is totally beyond me. Now for the only two positives, as we should always leave on a good feeling!

    The only two things good about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, in my opinion, are:
    1. It made Black Ops actually look playable, which I didn't think was possible before I played Modern Warfare 3.
    2. It helped me to decide whether I should buy Black Ops 2 or Assassin's Creed 3 the next year. Having an actual functioning brain, I of course chose Assassin's Creed 3. And guess what. It was actually a pretty decent game.    … Expand

    What a Horrible game, this game, blops 1, and blops 2 RUINED the COD series and could never be the same. This can show that a company cant even spice it up a bit, with Mw2 and 3.. they both have graphics and engines. They both suck. Dont BUY.

    Save your money and buy a better CoD. This is just a repeat of MW2. If you want a good and engaging call of duty, get MW1. Things have gone downhill with this franchise everytime they release a game. But of course the game has a huge following of younger children who love the game because it has explosions and blood.

    Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

    I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
