    The funny thing is that the game critics always criticize every new sequel that doesn't bring any originality or any innovation, i.e. something new to the table, but for some reason COD is always excluded from the category.

    And the fact that they went on twitter and begged people to rate the game good so it would show a good score on meta-critic, is just pathetic. PATHETIC I SAY!

    This is not a game, it's a business plan. No innovation at all, it's just the same copy and paste game as ever before. At least games like BF3 have some new features, but the only thing that changes in COD are the perks and slightly different guns, it's all the same.

    A step sideways for FPS and the series. I found the gameplay to be much the same as previous MW games while the maps were less fun and worse designed. I would not recommend this game, and would suggest to those interested in the COD experience to pick up MW1 or MW2 for a better time.

    Crap, Crap, Crap and Crap. This game is MW1.3. BF3 is a lot better, or even just get Skyrim. I thought this was going to be ok but i was worng..... It is stupid, same as CoD 4/MW2. Get a different shooter guys :)

    You would think that after six years they would at least have made a new graphics engine. The game is almost the same as Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, except for some maps, perks and a new killstreak system. How about some real originality, huh? Seriously, if you want a good shooter, buy Battlefield 3.

    In my opinion Modern Warfare 3 is a $60 map and gun pack for Modern Warfare 2 (MW2 is also a map and gun pack for Call of Duty 4) that has a horde mode taken from Gears of War 2 and a very short and boring story. The Online part of the game has the same problems as MW2 where you have enemies spawning on you and bad maps to play on.

    I get to 25-5 on FFA then start rubber banding and the framerate drops so bad that the screen freezes for 2-5 seconds at a time. This game does not work online, level 56 and its being traded in for something else. Shame on the games magazines and websites who gave MW3 any more than 50 out of 100. Story took 2 hours to beat, so the $60 (without tax) was not worth 2 hours of gameplay; worst way to spend money. Multiplayer was also disappointingly exactly the same as the previous CoD games. It appears as though the rest of subsequent COD releases will suffer from "Treyarch Syndrome" which includes a lack of innovation and a franchise greed driven by the publisher, Activision. I would boycott Activision and EA, however, they own much of theMW3 shows evidence that Activision and IW have been severely impaired by the loss of Camp, Zampanella and the better half of IW's staff.     Have u seen how dated the graphics are. Everything is the exact same. Its a $60 map pack. Activison is just milking the Call of Duty series after all. People get ready for the next 6 map packs in a 2 months!

    I mean I could give this game say a 7 or an 8 but when it comes down to it it is VERY MUCH MW2. I played through the games single player in one sitting that took me roughly 5 hours. Then when I turned to multi-player I quickly found out that it is in fact MW2. I'm talking everything down to the death animations.     Most disappointing game in all the COD series, def a step back from BLOPS. Multiplayer maps are an abortion, no quality at all. Game is filled with campers and quickscopers. Worst part is the respawn, constenly you're respawned right into a campers path. Treyarch has going to have to come up with something special to save the COD series after this s.hithouse experience.

    I must say, the lads at Activision are simply brilliant. Figuring out a way to make schmucks pay $60 for a game that came out 4 years ago. Not only that, they are able to repeat year in, year out. It's the same game so expect the same noob tubing, cheap knife kills from 20 feet across the room, lack of vehicles, crap graphics and everything else that accompanies every CoD game.

    This game is rehashed garbage. If anything, it should have been DLC for Modern Warfare 2. Activision is just grabbing people's money. The graphics are exactly the same as MW2, and the story is cliche and boring. Waste of time and money.

    I regret buying this game so much, I made this account just to give this game a 0. There are much better games out their worth your investment. The game is basically a copy of Mw2 with new maps and guns, plus a subscription fee for something that should be considered free. The DLC is always overpriced.

    Though it seems as if Modern Warfare 3 should get the same score as Modern Warfare 2 it doesn't. The game lacks innovation and is mostly a copy and paste of Modern Warfare 2 with Survival mode. Which Survival mode is not even a good add. Iteration after iteration they have been the same. Change it up to impress.

Ever since I've picked up MW3, I kinda regret wasting my money on a game that plays very much like MW2. First of all I beat the campaigns in less than 3hrs. The multi-player maps was the same as MW2 withI have played and own all of the Call of Duty games since PC to XBOX and now XBOX 360. The game was fun and had great campaigns even the multi-play aspect of the Call of Duty was fun. Ever since I've picked up MW3, I kinda regret wasting my money on a game that plays very much like MW2. First of all I beat the campaigns in less than 3hrs. The multi-player maps was the same as MW2 with slightly update graphics and added detail. They even stole one of the map from the original Counter Strike, I'm surprised that Steam did not sue them for this.     Bought this game last week and i am very disappointed with the game-play. Its the same COD i have been seeing for years. Off course lot of game series have repetitive moments but this one really sucks.
    This is my personal opinion about the game and i don't care about the COD fans

I recently read a few articles on IGN that seemed to have a tone of disappointment or disapproval for so many users giving modern warfare 3 a 0. Those articles are what sparked me to wright this. I see this as more of a protest. When a corporation sets out to ruin a market,Yes I am one of those guys that is giving this game a 0, before you judge me I ask that you read my whole review. I see this as more of a protest. When a corporation sets out to ruin a market, I say this based on past franchises ( guitar hero ), and there target audience are the same sheaple that are wiling to buy madden every year how are gamers to protest? How do we tell Activision that this is not ok? Do we boycott? When hardcore gamers only make up a small percentage of the games target audience how are we supposed to boycott? Do we make a bunch of angry blog posts? Or do we hit them were we can get the most publicity and let our voices be heard? I believe this is the only format that we can effectively protest and state our unhappiness where anyone will listen.     Black ops is better than this game in graphics and everthing else. You cant dive to prone,no 4 player co op, and everybody can get gold guns at the start and the killstreaks sucks. SORRiEST GAME I EVER PLAYED....

    If you don't put in the effort to do anything but repackage the previous game (or in this case the previous 3 or 4 games) then you get a zero for effort. This is a 45-60$ map pack.

    Well what can i say i did not expect anything diffrently from the series. I played mw3 when it came out at a friends house cause i did not want to spend 60 on an expanision pack for the game.     There has only been one game series that I've ever seen before, that completely screwed up every game in their series after the first one. And that game is Halo. Halo one is great game, for us PC fanboys (I used to be) it'll always have a place in our hearts. Then Halo 2 came out, I grabbed that game opening day, and never once in my entire life have I ever been so disappointed by a inanimate object.


    But you know what the difference between Halo, and Call of Duty is?

    Bungie (the company behind Halo) actually tried.

    Bungie actually tried to make a game that would CRUSH, their previous one. And you can see it in every aspect, even if you hate halo 2 and every one after it like I do, you can't help but appreciate the technology they've created, and what they've done.

    We are getting to a point now, where third party gaming companies (those games the mainstream doesn't buy) after innovating more than Activision. And yes, I know Bungie is a developer, and Activision is a producer. But the difference, is that Bungie's producer tells them "Make a great game", Activision tells their developers "It releases next november".

    So you can't help but assume the game it already going to be terrible. But no matter I gave it a chance.
    I myself am I fan of multiplayer, I hate single player everything, so for the benefit of the score of this game, I will not rate the single player. In my opinion, if you are buying this game for the single player, you need psychological help.

    Anyways, lets take a look.
    MAPS:
    Okay, so in standard call of duty fashion, excluding Call of Duty 4 all the maps are designed in a "circle" fashion. Which means that all the players are basically running around the map in a circle all the time.

    What does this mean for gameplay? It means that no matter what your style is, you will get shot in the back, all the time. Not only that, but the cover is completely useless being that the guns do not have any recoil. Even if you can't be seen by your enemy, they can easily shoot you through a wall.

    Not only that, but I don't know if this has been a common problem. But probably one of my biggest pet peeves in a game, is giving me the option of spawning into the game, I press that button, and guess what happens? I die.

    Its extremely easy to figure out the spawns, and sit in a position where you can spawn kill all match.

    Thats called poor design, and the only difference between this game and Call of duty 4, is some guns have recoil in cod4, and some of the maps are designed so you aren't continuously shot in the back (though not all).

    GAMEPLAY:
    Oh god, can we skip this one? NO?!

    Basically here is what makes Call of duty so addictive, here is why people buy it, and if you like the sound of this, YOU SHOULD BUY THIS GAME. Not rent, you should buy. You will love it I promise.

    Best feature about call of duty (in my opinion) is turning on your system of choice, and getting into a game as fast as your system turned on.

    But as soon as I notice this great feature, I just as quickly realize my most hated part of a call of duty game.
    The gameplay.

    Its designed, the sprinting, the movement, the recoil on the weapons, the attachment for the weapons, how much it takes for you to die; this is all designed you make you feel like you are the in game version of Jesus Christ.

    Let me explain;

    Now lets say, you are absolutely TERRIBLE at first person shooters, call of duty is a perfect first stop IF you know nothing about video games, and what it means to put care into a game. You will do GREAT in call of duty, you will be SO proud of yourself, want to know why?

    Because of the poor map design, followed by all those things above, you will no matter what enter a scenario, where you will slaughter your enemies, in what way exactly I have no idea. But you will do so well for just a brief 10 seconds, and that for most people is reward enough.

    SOUND: **** just **** sorry. They have so much money they can afford the biggest names to make an INSANE soundtrack. Not only that, in not one single call of duty game in the history of call of duty have they ever used real gun sounds for all the guns. Meaning you have an MP5k, that actually makes the sound of an FN P90. Which for most, who cares? But for gun dorks like me, its a big deal. GRAPHICS: Call of duty 4? The maps are finally back to how they used to be no more of the huge sightlines and too many spots to go prone in so its not a heaven for skill-less, hardscoping, thermal-loving snipers (not that I'm a pro sniper) good old close encounters and still plenty of open space to run around in is the foundation for good maps in my opinion. I would say these are the best launch maps seen in any cod game (treyarch or IW) since cod4, and just about all the game modes are playable on every map, something I haven't seen for a while in the cod series.

    As for the campaign its nice to finally see the conclusion to the MW "story" if you can even call it that but this was absolutely, by far the worst campaign I have ever played in the cod series and ive played all cod's since cod2 all the way through MW3. The campaign missions are all so repetetive; follow the squad leader through this linear war-torn street while the enemies just run out to their slaughter from the left side to the right one by one and go to the same spots they ran to the last 15 times you played this mission. The whole war-torn street thing gets kind of old by the 4th mission thats not task force 141 (they're missions actually are okay but still much of the same, 3 guys killing 1,000,000 stupid mofos that get in their way and no matter how surrounded they get they always make it out just about unscathed.

    All in all if your looking for the same good ol' time we've been forcefed for the 5th time now since cod4 then go ahead and buy it I don't blame you I borrowed it from a friend for about a week and now im convinced i actually want to buy it just because I actually enjoy the multiplayer for the first time since cod4. But by no means is this game worthy of even being whispered in the GOTY race it just doesn't change enough, even though it is nice to actually see some of the rampant hacking that quickly overtook and destroyed mw2 gone, the game just doesn't offer a deffinitively new experience like cod4 did back in '07. And just because I would personally like to see some dramatic change or at the very least some new groundbreaking aspect that reinvents the series and the genre it helped bolster instead of riding the same wave of success, and also I want to send a message to the developers and producers that somethings gotta give and we deserve some change for the good eventually after pouring out $60 every year for basically a title update to cod4 the game to me really deserves a 6.5/10 but for the sake of attempting to send a message I'm giving it a 0 on here.    … Expand

You have remarkable games out there like skyward sword, skyrim, battlefield 3, and dark souls that all put a tremendous amount of original content and then you have this game that is effectively the same game as mw2. You want this game? get one of the earlier CoD games because this game is nothing new.

    This game is a copy and paste of last years version. There is no real new gameplay or add ons. Its just a new addition to the continued story. The story seems like it was called in. No real thought or creativity to it. With all the great games to come out this one isnt a must buy. Go play Arkham City or Uncharted 3 instead.

Ever since World at War, Call of Duty has not been on a steady, but very, very sharp decline. Coming from a member of the PC community, we have largely been ignored and tossed aside. Customization and modifications are impossible to accomplish anymore and everything that made Call of Duty 4 from a good game into a great game are missing from MW3. The only thing worth getting this game for is the Single Player which isn't amazing either. It has a very low replay value and lasts a very short 6 hours. The money you spend on this game could go to a great deal of other games that deliver the true gaming experience that many have been searching for in Call of Duty. Everyone uses the same weapon and perk, everyone has the same tactics, honestly, Counter-Strike 1.6 was a more tactical game than this!
    The single player is as boring as usual. I barely concentrated through it, I was too busy wondering when I would play a decent game. I believe this game is a mere recycle of the past 3 games. The thing is though, that is what some reviewers say about Skyward Sword, the thing with Zelda though, is the formula is a good one. As they used to say "if it aint broke, don't fix it". This term can apply to games like Pokemon, Zelda, Mario and Metroid games, the formula generally stays the same, but the formula is a good one. However, MW3 is broke, and it is in desperate need of fixing. I will not hesitate to say that Infinity Ward has put absolutely no effort into this game at all, they have not bothered to add new elements to entice players, ore any new gameplay changes. And yet, the moronic and frustrating fan-base continue to praise this game because they A.) have not played any other games. B.) Are generally 10-16 year-olds who know nothing of what it means to be a gamer, and C.) Like to watch guns go boom in people's faces.
    I am disgusting at the poor effort put into this shoddy game, yet no doubt Infinity Ward will think they have achieved something and release map-packs for the low price of $25 for 5 maps. I take my hat to Infinity Ward, as they have managed to con and scam millions of idiots into buying the same game. Go think of something new to do Infinity Ward, maybe banking is more your style? Don't get me wrong survival is really nice addition to the game. Have that said one game mode can't save this game from being bad. The multiplayer in this game is getting stale. I feel at this point they rushed the product out before making big changes/fixes. I guess Activision know if they put the name "call of duty" on any of there products people will buy.… Expand

    This is not a new game, its almost identical to MW2, just different maps, and couple extra weapons and killstreaks! They didnt fix any of the issues that MW2 had! No kick vote, player/lobby matching is so bad still, spawns are ridiculous! and full of bugs

    Its time that Call of Duty does a complete revamp of there system. Not having party chat in all available games modes online or even 4-player co-op on survival mode and even spec ops mode is completely

    Game is no different from modern warfare 2, seriously this is an expansion pack DLC. Very stupid of activision to use some of the same buildings, items etc. As mw2.

    I gave up on cod after the fourth one, was always a Halo and BF fan anyways.

    I can't believe I paid 60 bucks for this crap. It's exactly the same as Modern Warfare 2 except with a more boring campaign. The multiplayer is the same as 2, it gets boring after three games. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this game.

    Just another $60 map pack here. Might be worth picking up if your a sheep and pay for the exact same thing year after year. There is no other series out there that people put up with total laziness from the developers why do it for COD remember what they did to tony hawk.

    Unbelievable how the same exact game we played years ago (COD: Modern Warfare 1) gets extra levels and they name that same game COD: Modern Warfare 3. Then they slap a 60 dollar price tag on it an sell it as new. Hopefully now, after literally almost every single user review is a 0 or 1, the publisher and developers of this tittle get the massage.

    This game is uber trash. I'm glad critics gave this a 9.0 right off the bat and couldn't have hardly even played it. Critics want to knock other games for repeating the same recipe over and over, yet it's a unbelievably magnificent 10+ when CoD does it. I've lost hope in humanity.

    Unfortunately, Activision has turned this franchise into a yearly sports series. The gameplay is almost completely unchanged, the maps are dull and uncreative, the weapons, perks and killstreaks are almost all recycled from the previous games and the campaign is a 3 hour explosion.

    This is the exact same game as MW1, MW2 and Black Ops. No innovation whatsoever. Yawn... Waste of time going through the multiplayer as it doesn't feel as rewarding when it is the exact same experience AGAIN...

    My review is based solely on the multiplayer aspect alone on the XBOX360. I am sure the single player is going to be another well written short(10 hours) story. For me personally I get my enjoyment( or lack there of since MW2) from the MP side. What I do not understand is how arrogant a company can be with the lack of releasing the most complete game they can. When you possess the most played game on xbox and you do not tap your customer base for early feedback and testing you are foolish. Even if some of the people dont report bugs/glitches you could bet your ass there would be tons of youtube videos with step by step guides as presently. So that brings us to what I view as MAJOR problems for the multiplayer side of the game :

    1) Lag --> Between the last 2 releases of the series as of right now a low gross estimate on $$$ is 1.5billion dollars....Instead of being proactive with this monster of a earner. Activision and their studios repeatedly spit in the faces of the consumers by not having dedicated servers. God forbid they divert at most 50million of their profits(a one time budget cost factoring in equipment, employees to upkeep for 10years ) to make the best experience for their customers. 2) Glitches --> Numerous upon numerous glitches, map exploits, kill streak exploits....It drives me insane that these were out within just 3 days of release. I have to ask who the **** was doing QA for IW/Sledgehammer? If you dont want to have a beta for your game fine, that is your prerogative. But don't you feed me **** about "How proud you are of your company's job well done on the game" aka Glen Schofield. Your people should be ashamed of the **** that made it out and we are only 13days in. If you don't have a beta you damn sure should have had these things patched up before the product shipped. 3) Team Killing in Hardcore modes --> I have no qualms at all about friendly fire when it happens, as a SnD players it makes it even more strategist in my opinion. However when you afford these idiots the ability to pull a rocket out and kill the entire team round after round with no repercussion, are you f@#@##@@### kidding me?!?!!??!?!?!?!? This was an issue in 4...Once again what the hell were YOUR employees doing Glen????; how is this not know pre launch or let alone resolved 13 days later. Activision, Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and now Sledgehammer do their customers an enormous disservice year after year and I personally have had my fill of it.    … Expand

    The same re used piece of **** that was Modern Warfare 2. More than 50% of the textures in the game are taken directly from MW2. The campaign is predictable and boring. Multi player is the same unrealistic gameplay that was in MW2. Just stop with COD already. You lost me after Cod 4.

    This was a Great game when it 1st came out, but sadly everything that was done in the last few year could have all been done in patches and really there is nothing new to keep me there i fill like i am paying money for MW1.3

    If you are looking for a FPS game this year choose BF3. This game is simply a cut and paste of MW2. Unfortunately, COD will ride this one trick pony until the end. Please spit out another COD in Nov and add 3 guns. Can't wait!

    Quite a disappointment that the COD name lost it's original team leaders, and now the game is just the same old, same old. Enjoying BF3 over here, a much more immersive experience.

    This is the same game that I have been playing for the last 4-5 years. Why can't they make the game a little different instead of making it a yearly franchise? Even if they made the games come out every two years it would be much better.

In that time I was impressed by CoD, amazed by CoD2, annoyed by CoD3, before being totally astounded by CoD4: Modern Warfare. Since then, Activision have sucked the life out of this franchise with a number of boneheaded decisions like annualising the series, farming the title out to studios with no connection to the franchise at all, mistreatment of Infinty Ward's creative team who saw the project from "birth" to becoming the biggest game series ever. However, for me atleast, their single biggest mistake was to fail to innovate. This is basically a map pack from COD4, same graphics, same physics, same weapons, same character skins, same structure. I fail to see how they can possibly have spent 2 years and millions/billions of dollars on this game. For that kind of money there should be an entirely new engine for the game to bring this into the modern world. Instead of creating a truly innovative product Activision and whats left of Infinity Ward are happy to take your money, lots of your money and put out a substandard product thats so wide of the mark its silly. Don't waste your time, don't waste your money and for gods sake go and buy Battlefield or Skyrim as they are far more deserving of your money.… Expand

    Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

    I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
