I am no "Critic" so I will just be putting across my personal opinion on this game. Quite frankly, I believe the game does not need to be changed. ok, mebbe it's more like MW2.75 than MW3. theres some nice changes to the class setups and kill packages. it's certainly worth more than all these 0-5 ratings ppl are giving it, (99% of whom I suspect are BF fans) Put it this way, MW3 is STILL better than BF3

I'm speaking up for Sledgehammer. I think this game is great. I was worried when Infinity Ward split up that this game wouldn't hold up with the other two, but it does. For a yearly release they are still mixing it up. Look at Madden, minor graphical tweeks with a few minor additions. COD is pushing forward in the FPS world. Small steps are whats keeping this franchise from reinvigorating the FPS genre, but as a whole this is still a playable game, and by no means is it awful. Before Modern Warfare, we had WW2 games that were being played out. Were they terrible? No, but we were growing tired of playing the same thing over and over. It's much the same case here. Modern Warfare 3 is a COD game, and if you've loved the past games, you will love this one. I understand the gripes of people wishing for a brand new experience, but until this game turns into Future Warfare, or Musket Warfare, I think it's safe to say that the core experience will remain the same for at least a few more years. This game is worthy of an 8, solid gameplay mechanics, solid graphics, an accessible multiplayer experience. All of these things are taken for granted in the overcrowded genre. Expand

I am neither a fanboy or hater of COD, just a gamer who can appreciate plain dumb fun when it's presented. Thats what MW3 is, and thats what it does well. As much as I'm enjoying Skyrim, its nice to take some respite and unplug my brain for a while with some white knuckle set pieces and satisfying gunplay. Great fun and to be honest, if you buy MW3, you know exactly what youre getting.

MW3 is a top notch first person shooter. It has all of the key components that set COD apart from the other FPS games out on the market (arcade style fps with fast paced action) - those who don't enjoy that type of shooter - don't need to be playing MW3. If you want realism, go play BF3. If you want to have fun play MW3. It's a good game, trust me. It is well worth the money I spent to play it. I can't wait for the map packs.

Also, i hate the maps in black ops but i would gladly play any of the black ops maps instead of **** awful mw3 maps. They said that making them smaller would reduce camping **** the way they made the new maps only further encourage camping which ruins the gameplay experience. Also, the lag compensation and hit detection is worse than black ops which i thought was as bad as it could get, guess i was wrong. Anyways to wrap this up i give this game a 7 out of 10. Modern Warfare 3 is an upgrade to the previous versions, yes it plays the same with the same style of play, but so does the Battlefield series. People are so ignorant that they bash a game and then become oblivious to the game they follow that does the exact same things. It's people like this that give gamers a bad reputation on the eyes of others. The campaign is great and although it repeats similar scenes as seen in the previous games, it is still great to play through it. The visuals have been upgraded slightly from the previous generations and everything looks great. The sound effects have not received a similar upgrade and the it doesn't sound as great when compared to sound effects of other games, but it's no big deal. Although most people buy the game for the multiplayer, no oone can skip out on this. It's a great campaign that continues the story line that was established by its two previous predecessors. The campaign is where the true action is at. The multiplayer menus bring back a reminiscent feeling of the first Modern Warfare in which slightly the same. There have been a few multiplayer modes added to the already large variety of playlists. The action is quick and fun and the new additions of killstreaks and team streaks add a lot more strategic value to the game. Granted, there are a few things that could be fixed, but I'm not sure where all these zero ratings are coming from. People keep saying it's just a mild update of MW2, but I just played MW2 last week and this one is significantly better. It's only slightly better than Black Ops -- which I didn't like as much as MW2 when it first came out, but ended up playing more than any other COD. The best part about this game is that it's smooth... if you like to move around a lot, it's easy to stay focused without everything being a blur. Also, the weapons are not bad at all-- it drives me nuts when all the weapons feel the same, but these have distinct personalities... you will instantly notice the difference between an M16 and AK47 (the COD games have always been pretty good at that though). And I'm loving the maps... the layout, the size, the atmosphere... it's mostly top notch (with just a little complaint, below). Connectivity and matchmaking have been very very good. It's a BIG improvement on MW2 and a slight improvement over Black Ops. Out of about 100 games, I only had a few that were "two-bar" connections. If you see that you have a two-bar connection, leave the lobby at the end of that match and join a different one... you will struggle.

So here's the bad: Maps have a lot of crap in them... stuff that ruins your flow and is easy to get stuck on. Also, if you run into a team that knows what it's doing and you just have strangers on your team... well, good luck. I'm not sure if it's just that there are a lot of people new to the COD series playing, but it seems like the gap between good players and new players is really really wide. In situations like that, if you like to play the objective like I do, then it's pretty much something you'll have to sacrifice in order to stay alive. On that point, checking lobby leaderboards to see teammate/opponent skill has become a guessing game. Black Ops had the points-per-minute stat which really told you how much of an effect someone would have on the game, but now it just lumps overall kills (which would be more helpful if we could see deaths at the same time) along with overall score and other useless facts. Headquarters is a bit more frustrating also... you won't get points for helping capture the headquarters (ok, well you get 10 or something), but only the first person there gets credit, which is just stupid. Even if I'm usually the first person there, my teammates need incentive to help me take it. Lastly, the guys that I usually play with are all hurting in the kill/death area, for some reason. A lot of 2+ k/d ratio guys are struggling to stay above 1 right now, which puzzles me. I'm the biggest rusher out of all of us, but my k/d has just stayed about the same. Perhaps that'll change... we'll see.

Spec Ops, accounting for the new addition of Survival mode, is probably worth close to $60 to most FPS fans in and of itself. Multiplayer sticks with the tried and true (and extremely fun) formula, but there are enough changes and improvements to keep it fresh for another year. Yes, I have been a fan of CoD since CoD4, and there is nothing wrong with that. Yes, I would probably pay $60/year for new maps, perks, killstreaks, weapons, etc., and there is nothing wrong with that either. That doesn't mean I can't be fair and objective in my analysis of the game, a tactic that seems to be lost on some of the previous simple-minded reviewers. But, there are other changes and additions and improvements to this game that make it well worth the money. This game is very enjoyable if you get over yourself, mature past the emotional age of 16, and realize that Activision quite obviously has a very successful formula that they're not willing to stray TOO far away from. If you're that shallow that you expect a COMPLETELY different game with every installment (as many other less successful franchises are forced to create), maybe you should try a different title. It's not difficult. BF3 fanboys can go sit on a railroad spike. Your mere presence here is all the indication the world needs that the Battlefield franchise is nowhere near where it wants to be or where CoD is and has been for 4-5 years. As made evident from their reviews, If I were to total up the IQ of all the reviewers that have left a score of '0' on here, I would come up with a number not much greater than the rating they gave the game. I would personally fire all the people who created ELITE and hire PROFESSIONALS! What a bunch of CRAP! That being said, MW3 IS the BEST FPS I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I can not recommended ELITE just forget about that. Disregarding the ELITE factor, I have to rate MW3 as the BEST FPS OF ALL TIME, HANDS DOWN! My rating is a PERFECT 10! Expand

I hate these who votes without playing the game. They are stupid trolls, haters and BF3 fanboys. MW3 is such a great game. Great solo and great multiplayer. I enjoyed more 20 minuts of the solo of MW3 than the 6 hours of the solo of battlefield.

Great storyline and best multiplayer ever! I won't say it's better than battlefield, both games are cool, but I like mw3 more. It's true that campaign is short and easy (of course on veteran) but it's very effective

It has always been like this in every MW, so stop **** about it the game is good, yeah everybody has different tastes but if you buy the game you CAN'T say it isn't good it's just not logical. Yeah it looks LIKE MW2 but the graphics are way better and very polished. The MP is way better, more balanced, more weapons, more balanced perks, balanced killstreaks and attachments than EVER. Don't ever compare BO or WaW to this it's way stupid and very very ilogical they are different times and companies. Survival is a lot of fun, you can spend hours in it and not get bored, spec-ops missions are somewhat entretaining and there are more of them. MW3 and BF3 are way different games so stop comparing that too please, go somewhere else like the BF3 to **** about that. MW3 has given me already hours of fun and gameplay. I SIMPLY LOVE IT, and gets everything that was bad in MW1 and MW2 and makes it dissappear. MW3 will be a game that can be played for years, if you like CoD get it, if you like BF go **** off it's not your game it's way more fast paced. The campaign is great, so is survival and spec-ops, MP will always be great. Expand

The history of this game is so good, the gameplay is so good, the graphics is not of strongest point of view, this game is perfect only in the Singleplay, in multiplayer MW3 is not good.
BF3 is focused is graphics(good part of gamers care only graphics), but the Multiplayer is good.
I like Modern Warfare series why the history is the principal point of the game.

If it was up to me I think that this call of duty should win game of the year. Yes it looks like MW2 but it is supposed to! I mean guys it's a sequel. People think that games should always revolutionize the previous one. Well if you know how to make chicken wHy try a different recipe? At first I really didn't have a problem with this game, but then I realized it just wasn't as good as its predecessors but exactly the same. Most people got this game because of the brand expecting a good game, but were screwed over to find it was exactly like the last one except the levels are more bland and forget able (I have played a solid 10 hours of multiplayer and I realized i couldn't name one of the maps if I had been give a small picture of it.) The new games modes provide a little something for everyone and offer a wide variety of choices to takedown the enemy team. Not to mention the new survival mode offers a fresh take on the ever popular "horde mode" giving players hundreds of hours of playtime which never goes stale. With Battlefield 3, Dice was more focused on the competition as opposed to making an actually solid game that met its enormous expectations. Its like comparing apples to oranges as both games are entirely different. However, I found MW3 to be a massive improvement over MW2 and years ahead of Battlefield 3. There is no excuse for this crap!

Aside from that, multiplayer delivers, although not on a large scale like BF3. Although I absolutely f-ing hate BF3 after playing that glitchy, crappy game for the last 3 weeks, it does have a big edge on MW3's small multiplayer maps. If you took MW and it's software engine and applied the concept of BF3 to it, the game would be unstoppable. But as it is, BF3 sucks and MW3 is still a good game.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
