Look, BF3 and MW3 are different games that appeal to different people. Everyone needs to grow up and learn to accept other peoples' opinions. The game is great. Not perfect, mind you. The Battlefield kids are like a plague. Don't miss out! Oh yea, Kill Confirmed is one of the best modes ever implicated into a fps. Great job, Activision, Sledgehammer, and IW!

MW3 is continuing what fans have loved over and over.. the story is enjoyable..exciting and far better then some similar genre's stories..multiplayer is fun and addictive as always. So what it still has the same feeling over and over..people like it..and the amount of sales shows that. People enjoy bashing the game. I enjoyed it greatly, and a ton of other people playing now agree.

It may be the same feel as MW2 but you will quickly see the differences between MW2 and MW3. Multiplayer has new everything and Special Ops is a breath of fresh air! Great game over all.

All these 'Negative' reviews are nonsense. I can understand some people may have faults they can find with the game and some for some people it might not even be their cup of tea, but to even suggest this is a bad game is a insult to the hard work that the developers have clearly put in.

The Single Player is superb, with every mission revelantly linking to the story as opposed to a series of huge spectacular moments. Its a decent length and keeps your hooked all the way through. Spec Ops is brilliant, it would be nice to play with more than two people but its really great fun none the less. Lots of variety in the missions and plenty of unlocks to keep it replayable.

The multiplayer is more of the same, but refined. Sure there are problems, there are far too many quickscopers as sniper rifles are far too powerful and explosives are completely useless against people with blast shield prop. However the improvements they have made are brilliant, the prestige shop is a welcome feature, the gun leveling system works really well and rewards players who are good players with particular guns.

Overall Modern Warfare is just a fun game to play with friends. If your playing yourself you can still have a good time but the ultimate experience is when you play in a group.

In reality this game is probably a 9. Its a really good game but not perfect. However since the game is being unfairly represented by fanboys and haters I felt it is only fair to try and balance it out slightly a give it a 10.

I know it's POPULAR to randomly hate the most popular thing out there. Hell, I'M even in that crowd. However, MW3 does a great job at remembering what it is.....a video game who's purpose is to be engaging, fun, and entertaining above all else. It's a TOTAL package featuring hundreds of hours of gameplay, multitudes of modes for multiplayer gamers, a tight single-player package and loads upon LOADS of unlockable goodies that will keep any gamer with a pulse busy for months on end.

They say the public like to build things up just to break them down, and that old adage holds true here. Modern Warfare 3 is the most popular thing to hate because quite frankly, it's the most popular thing, well.....PERIOD.

The game is extraordinarily well programmed, graphic engine is stellar locked at 60 fps, and it's hard to fault a game that stays close to a formula that quite frankly created what the modern shooter is and does.

Do not let the internet crafty fool you.....a lot of the time the internet nerd world will find a way to hate on something popular in real life. It's the fun thing to do.

This game is FANTASTIC and you would be a fool to rate or believe this game is anything less than an 8 on a bad day. It's technically and superficially an outstanding game that continues to DEFINE this generation of multiplayer excellence.

No game is perfect, so i don't give 10's. I'd knock this game if for only the fact the texture work could be improved in the graphics department and sound design could use a little work.

    Flame on.

Every guest I talk to at Target say they love the game and enjoy multi player most of all. I have no regret in buying this game, I've been playing it since the midnight launch, and enjoy being able to pick up a game where I know how to play and not having to learn the multi player so much. I've played both BF3 and MW3 and I would choose MW3 over BF3 because it doesn't have the million glitches and bugs that BF3 has since day 1, the game came out. Don't forget the times that BF3 servers where down, (MULTIPLE TIMES) which also happened on day 1 of release. Besides, why would they change a ton of stuff in MW3 when you knew the story had to continue, EVERYONE! loved MW2, so why would they change everything about MW3 if people enjoyed what they where playing already. I am a call of duty vet. I have played every call of duty game ever made and this one is the most different. Also, I feel that in the process of trying to make the game more balanced, the developers removed what made call of duty great: Capitalism. The concept of providing those who generate kills with the ability to acquire more kills is what made call of duty great. That is what kill streaks were made for. However, the developers took a capitalistic reward structure and made it socialist. Now, has my KD or win ratio been affected? no but it does upset me to see a kid who has only 1 kill call in an airdrop. I do feel that the changes made though provide for a different game, one that I do not like. With all that said, I still play it religiously and will continue to until the new call of duty launches next year or when Respawn Interactive drops their new title. Great to be back with IW after yet another one of Treyarchs multi-player travesties (I loved it when the guy I was shooting in Black Ops would turn around after soaking up have a clip and kill me).
The single player is exactly what you would expect it to be, but the familiar locales (NY, London, Paris, Hamburg, etc..) add a poignancy that has been lacking. The multiplayer is why anyone buys this game however, and is also the reason the game shines. Unlike BF3, CoD is frenetic, fast paced, and visceral. You don't have to run miles to get shot out of nowhere like in BF3. While I like MW3, I am disappointed that the story/campaign isn't like the old CoD games...the ones for PC. Those games had a great story, a difficult campaign, and excellent multiplayer. These days it seems like the game developers have to water everything down so the "casual" gamer can feel good about themselves.
    Pros: Multiplayer, multiplayer, multiplayer.
Cons: Poor story, Spec Ops isn't as good as MW2.

Huge set pieces is what the campaign was made for and it does one hell of a job at it. Spec ops is a blast as usual and is great for partnering up with a buddy and the missions are varied and engaging. But we all know that the multiplayer is what we all bought MW3 for. Yes they re skinned MW and made it their own but the gunplay is not as "tight" as other Call of Duty games. With bullets not registering and assault rifles cant even touch a enemy at far range this game became a mundane shooter. Lag issues and lackluster map design bogs this game's greatness. This can be fixed however with map packs and title updates. But what really drags it down is the maps. These maps are forgettable at best. At least in the other Call of Duty games you remember the maps. Highrise, Vacant, Crash, Overgrown and many other shined in the past titles. Instead we get these cramped, claustrophobic maps that really don't lend to how the games should flow. Now all people do is run which is not a bad tactic but most combat involves running at each other head on till someone gets the lucky bullet. The maps are so lackluster and cramped that I feel like Im a mouse trapped in a maze designed by a 5 year old with the cheese at the end being 10th prestige which doesn't seem to be the best reward in this "maze".
In closing Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward I applaud you for rising from the ashes of what happened at Infinity Ward. But a little more polish and this game would be great. But its not too late, you have time to fix this via DLC and title updates. This games fate is uncertain but you guys can fix it if you choose. "I created a metacritic account just to review this terrible game. The more I play it the more I hate it. I am a long time COD player, played MW, MW2, and black ops all to prestige. The maps and spawning system are terrible in this one though. The maps are all dozens of narrow passages crisscrossing each other so you are constantly getting shot in the side and back, add to that the new spawning system and it is impossible to play this game with any sort of tactics. You cant clear an area and then feel confident the enemies will be ahead of you they will just spawn behind you and come at you from one of 6 different angles. Activision shouldn't have been greedy and fired the people that made these games good. I wont be buying another COD game until something drastic changes"

Exactly what I was hoping for, love it, best ever of the series. With the new additions, and the fact they are pretty much the only ones who allow 4 player offline splitscreen is a game in itself. I love that they left that in.

super clean and fun as always. Love the subtle yet high-impact changes to multiplayer, and the new gun models look bomb. People who think this a **** job for something done over 2 years just have no idea about the game-development process.

Another year, another Call of Duty. This year brings about Modern Warfare 3 the sequel to 2009's Modern Warfare 2. Overall the game play is very similar to other incarnations of the Call of Duty series. This incarnation comes with the standard tweaks to multiplayer that you would expect. Yes, this is more of the same but it's still a fun experience.

First off it's smooth. Super smooth, a 60 frames per second makes this game look crystal clear. A little sharper graphics, that are tough to spot at first, but once you see the first car explode you will know exactly what I mean. Buildings collapse when you hit them with a missile from the chopper, balconies collapse when you man the mini-gun. The water looks real, trees and grass blow as a storm approaches, and I actually stopped more than once to look around at the sky and the sunset. It was that beautiful. Bigger scale. MW was about a few guys in Russia, MW2 was about defending the eastern states in the U.S. MW3 is about the entire world under attack. And you feel it. Cool set pieces for firefights that are multi-level transitional. Not just where you've got guys on the second story (and stay there) and guys down low (and stay there) you've got people running up and down stairs using the environment. One time i saw an enemy running towards me, and I was thinking "what an idiot this dude's gonna get shot in the face, stupid A.I.," only to see him actually running up to a car, he opens the car door, and hides behind it! I was blown away.
A beef i had with Black Ops was that sometimes it felt like a shooting gallery. You would walk forward it would "trigger" the enemy spawn, they line up in a row, and you kill 'em, and move on. But here i felt like there are people everywhere and all the time! And there's always this rushed feeling of progression, where if you try to camp and kill everybody someone yells, "C'mon we gotta keep moving!" So you didn't feel like you had to kill everyone, but that the mission was more important. A major improvement is the feel and sounds of the guns. They feel great, and I can't tell if it's extra vibration in the controller or what, but it's different. It's crisp. I love breach scenes. i swear I'd buy a game where all you do it breach every room.
Now before you declare me a CoD fanboy, remember, this is all just the campaign I've been talking about! I haven't even touched the multiplayer or the special ops missions/survival. Those are what will ensure that you will never need to ditch the game just because the campaign is over.
This game is loaded and if you can put aside the "it's cool to hate on modern warfare" fad that seems to be all the rage, you'll be blown away at this masterpiece. I love Modern Warfare 3 and I don't care who knows it.
    P.S. Airplane level FTW!

I give this game at least an 8- why? Because I like it- what it does, how it does it and how it looks doing it. MW3 may have a medium-short length campaign, but it works! The story gets told (and unlike most it seems, I followed it) and unlike the cliche riddled, CoD ripoff of a campaign in BF3 (get real BF fans, something bad happens before the game, you get interrogated/forced to explain it, and just before the end you get out of the interrogation and help 'save the world'? Black Ops people, did that already. And what the hell is with all the 'I'm on a machine gun! OH NO A ROCKET CRAP I BLEW UP AND NOW I'M DAZED ON THE GROUND!" moments? How many times did that happen? And those stupid quicktime events that appear no where else in the game? At least CoD's consistent between single and multiplayer) and told well. Now, having not played the BF3 mutliplayer (and considering this crowd spamming low scored for competing games, I probably won't) I can't speak out against it, but from what I have heard the multiplayer is the only thing BF3 does right. So, kudos there. MW3? That multiplayer is still fastpaced and hectic. Which game would I buy and play? MW3, handsdown. Which game would I play? Both. Unlike the morons spamming 0 scores for games they're too immature to understand have a right to exist, I won't write-off a game just because it's competition to a game I like. Then again, considering how many problems BF3 had when it launched... I think I'll stick with the people who know what they're doing. Expand

This game, as many have stated, does not have the same graphics as Modern Warfare 1. Nor does this game have a predictable storyline. What this game has is a refreshing recovery from Black Ops, which was, to a much lesser extent, very much so ridiculed. This is exactly what the gaming community needs and has needed since the release of Black Ops. The multiplayer, contrary to the statements of many, has completely changed its angles on multiplayer gaming, where there were faults, successes were there to fill in the cracks. What we had from Modern Warfare 2 is still there, but we got more. And what everyone said, how this game is exactly the same as Modern Warfare 2, that is only true in the very shortest of aspects. The multiplayer, redefined, unparalleled at this stage in the development of gaming, has not stopped improving. The new game modes it has added have only just begun to express the possibilities of the extremely well-formed map workings. In the future, the only thing I could expect more would be a greater amount of game modes. The campaign, although a tad bit too familiar at times presents the great feel that we have come to expect from an Infinity Ward game, with every bit of thrill and intensity that has always been there. And the Special Ops, playing as a single player seems to be a bit too difficult to obtain certain goals, but as a team, how the darn thing was meant to be played, has the greatest sense of accomplishment to it, just as we have come to expect. When you finally kill the final enemy, when you get to the final objective, you get this over-powering sense of gratification that will be openly welcomed by the open-minded. In my honest opinion, the only true flaw with this game is the amount of criticism it doesn't deserve. This game does not deserve the terrible reviews it has been getting. I hope my review helps to balance out the negatives, and motivate others to purchase this great addition to the world of gaming. Thank you. Expand

Haven't gone into spec ops much, but i did a few with my friend last night and my only complain was that most of the first missions (only unlocked the missions through the level 5 ones) had a majority of them with time limits, this angers me because i got 100% of the achievements on mw2 and for the spec ops, the hardest missions to complete on veteran were any of the missions involving juggernauts, followed closely by missions with time limits. Veteran can be made easy if you take it slow, but time limits make it increasingly more difficult

    Best with multiplayer...........
Seriously it should not have this low....
It does not create graphics details as Battlefield 3 but it does not have mindless waves of trooops in battlefield..

The biggest problem with Modern Warfare 3 is that lots of great changes have been made but none of them are apparent to the consumer. All they see is that the graphics are comparable and the game-play is extremely familiar. These are two very true comments and because they are all that is perceived they tend to overshadow the changes that have been made. Single Player: In true "Michael Bay" form, the campaign is a strand of epic set pieces designed to make your eyes and ears say "What the !@#$." This is getting harder to do since we've been exposed to the same style of presentation for at least two Modern Warfare's before this one. What really resonated with me is that this game ties all the events of previous two games into a coherent and surprisingly good story. The flashbacks and explanation of events happening outside of the players awareness in previous titles was awesome and it made me want to play the other two titles again.

Spec Ops: The tried and true co-op formula is exactly the same as it was in Modern Warfare 2 except for one major detail which is the addition of Survival. Survival is just plain awesome. I love that the waves of enemies are infinite. I love that we can level up and use all the things that make traditional multi-player awesome like perks, attachments, kill streaks, etc. Survival is also a useful learning tool for players to get used to weapons and other errata of the game without the pressure of performing well against the online masses where stats are tracked and permanent. These two aspects dictate the entire feel and pace of the multi-player games and it's unfortunate because it renders so much in the game useless. Sniper rifles are really just there for show for instance. Multi-player: It's always hard to judge this segment because frankly it takes a long time to figure out the tools and the maps in order to use them efficiently. However, there's two things that I've notice that in my opinion act as the stem for virtually all the problems in the multi-player. First, the maps are significantly smaller than other iterations in the series. I can't tell you how many times I was surprised at how close Domination flags were to each other or how quickly an enemy was already bearing down on me at the beginning of a round. Secondly, even on the larger maps the amount of collusive objects create short lines of sight and make the maps feel and act small. These factors create maps that are chaotic and relentless. Spawn killing is much easier, tactics are less viable, and a lot of the tools and perks are useless because they can't be reliably used in an environment where your lifespan is mere seconds upon spawning. The good things that have changed are aspects that a lot of players probably won't pick up on. A good example is how corners are handled. Many of the corners aren't flat walls with a definitive edge but rather a stack of objects that create an uneven edge. This means players have to gauge their line of sight based on their height in relation to the object and also where the enemy may be coming from. It gives the person approaching the corner a small field of vision on someone who may be sitting around that corner thus making camping a little bit harder. Some corners are completely see-through like glass windows or brush. These provide a murky field of vision on a corner but still leave you vulnerable to damage. These create great risk vs. reward scenarios that the players have to consider each time they approach a corner and I love them.

Summary: I miss Modern Warfare 1. That's it, what else can I say really? This game is an obvious and predictable evolution of the first Modern Warfare and I feel really underwhelmed playing it. In fact, I must have sat at the menu for 30 minutes wondering why I couldn't convince myself to play multi-player. Instead, I ended up playing Spec Ops all night and I loved it. I guess in contrast to all this I just miss the simplicity and near perfect balance of Modern Warfare 1. Where maps were diverse and sniper rifles were useful. Where gun-play was king and air traffic didn't completely drown out any other sound in the game. And I know this is in high contrast to popular map design but I really miss choke points. Modern Warfare 3 is a great game with liquid smooth game-play and a deep and interesting progression system but in the end, it still isn't enough to make me sell Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Again, the graphics are wonderful, and set pieces are really majestic; the story is interesting and winding (make sure you pay attention). Finally, unheard of in this class of games, there is another play mode called Spec Ops that included 2 horde-style and mission-style gameplay. These are fun and innovative, and some might enjoy it more than multiplayer. I'm not sure if the BF3 or Halo fanboys are just upset that MW3 is performing so well, or if they are just this immature, but it doesn't make sense that they would waste their time lying on these reviews. This is a great game, and it will last much longer than the ones they are standing behind. Should you be torn between games, MW3 is absolutely the way to go. Expand

A lot of people have thought this is just some piece of crap game that doesn't deserve to looked at bought and should only be made fun of. To those who think this is true you are all wrong. Is this a sequel, yes, but is it a crappy game, no. While people complain about no innovation I'm sure that if there was a big change people would be mad. But let's get down to the real business, is this game even worth $60 and many hours of your time, that's your choice, for now i will tell you mine. This game isn't worth $60, maybe $50, probably $40 but not $60. Even not being worth $60, it is a very well made game with good but short campaign, great co-op missions, the awesome zombies like survival, and the famous (whether it be god or bad) multi-player. In my book there are very few games that offer a truly good overall package, MW3 does this but if your only buying for one mode then save your money and buy an older call of duty that has what you are looking for. I hope this can help somebody who is a long time fan who doesn't want to feel cheated because he spent $60 on a game he already played.

The story is decent and the new survival mode is fun. It is a bit 'more of the same" but they did it well. The story is better than B3's story and at least I can take my party with me into a game and not be thrown into the other team. They did a good job.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is exactly what the game advertised itself to be, and therefore my expectations were met! I love the game! I was very disappointed with Battlefield 3 for the xbox 360, as the game looks nothing like what you see in the trailers. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 actually looked better in my opinion, on a console that is.

First I would like to point out that in no way is this game innovative, but to call this game mw 2.5 or 1.3 is a rash, bold, and incorrect statement. First I would like to point out that in no way is this game innovative, but to call this game mw 2.5 or 1.3 is a rash, bold, and incorrect statement. Anyway, i digress to my actual review of this game. I will be breaking this down into the three categories Infinity Ward has given us, as well as certain criteria people expect from a review such as graphics, game play, etc.

The first portion every person should go through (or at least the one I always start with in every new cod title) is the single player campaign. This campaign is fantastic in every sense, though a bit short. But this complaint is a small one considering I blasted through the main story line in about 4.5 hours on regular difficulty. But its length really isn't a flaw if you consider that a game that looks for the biggest adrenaline fill it can possibly dish out, while at the same time trying to not be numbing to the player. This campaign finally wraps up the storyline in a very meaningful and conclusive way and its a blast getting there.

Then comes the return of spec ops, which I enjoy substantially more than Nazi zombies (sorry zombies have become been there done that in our culture, only thing i enjoy with zombies anymore is the walking dead). Anyway I can't wait to be able to play with mode properly with a friend instead of getting paired with some moron online. In addition, a second game type has been added to spec ops which is called survivor. Survivor is more or less the COD take on horde mode from the gears of war series, and it works really well here, though admittedly I do find myself getting bored after one of two rounds.

And finally the monster that is the cod multiplayer. People who hate on it will continue to hate and people that love the fast paced gun on gun arcade style shooter will continue to love it. There is nothing innovative from the (and I don't know why people forget this) original innovation, but it still works great and now with no commando or one man army nube tubes, the multiplayer brings cod into a new world of people complain but not all about the same thing. I will be the first to admit that there are some guns that are slightly overpowered, such as the type 95 or the much hated ump45, but I'm not nearly as annoyed with these weapons as I was with certain weapons from previous cod titles. Overall, I'm having a blast with the multiplayer and anyone who isn't, probably sucks at it (I'm a firm believer that anyone who **** about cod should be forced to post their k/d ratio, so at least we know why).

To wrap things up I'll briefly go over the specs of the game. Are the graphics innovative? No. But they looked damn good, nearly photo-realism, 5 years ago and they still do. Any game that can run at 60 frames per second while having so much crap going on in the background and look this good ON A SIX YEAR OLD CONSOLE, is doing something right in my book. The controls are as tight and responsive as one should expect from a cod game, thatâ

it's not like BF3 that put you in the story that you've seen it 1000 time before !

let's talk about gameplay ! just like MW1 & MW2 gameplay is where this game beat its rival . fast action gameplay that increase adrenaline alongside with cinematic scenes will satisfy you of spending 60 $ for this game !
sounds and musics are brilliant and i can't say anything bad about them !
graphics are good enough for a 2011 released game and have many improvements from Modern Warfare 2 and 60fps is where this game is beat its rival in graphics (on consoles) .
multiplayer is the best in series so you can finish the story mode in 5 hours and go for multiplayer ! but you have my word , you can't finish multiplayer even in 500 hours ! it's Call Of Duty ! there is no need to say every part is at it's best like maps , perks , modes , weapon customize ...
at last i can say there are many games out there but there are a few perfect games so don't spend 60 $ for the first game you'll see in the markets !

The single player campaign was excellent, with several exciting moments and a great amount of detail that easily outdid Black Ops' somewhat lackluster campaign. You can tell that they put a lot of work into making the environment as alive and realistic as possible. Multiplayer also received several welcome upgrades. The best parts from MW2 and Black Ops were kept, while it was clear that they made a point of balancing the game and removing other overpowered or stupid pieces (nukes). Spec Ops, a favorite of MW2, returns, bringing with it enjoyable missions and different perspectives from campaign missions. Along with that, the new Survival mode is one of the most fun additions to the game, and is both challenging and fun to play through. Overall, the best parts of the last few games were kept, and the new additions and detail make this an excellent title. Yes, it will feel a bit like MW2. But I say that in a good sense. MW3 delivers CoD fans what they want. It's a great example of how a vocal minority (irritated BF3 fans, lol) try to bash a great game. Also important: the number of people who are irritated about its similarity to MW2 is minuscule compare to the number of fans who would be pissed if the game was redone to something else entirely. Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
