    I havent played mw3's single player campaign. I probably never will. I'm shocked to read so many negative reviews here where people are complaining about the single player in this game. Did you seriously expect it to be any good? Have any of the single player campaigns from any of the modern warfare games been any good?     Good game, much like the previous versions of the game (if it's fun why change it?). Extremely fun multiplayer, the tweaks compared to MW2 have made it an overall better game in my opinion. Lots of people from **** are coming on here and complaining about it, in a way that seems more like they just don't like the style of gameplay that CoD represents.     Ignore all the haters. I have been playing call of duty for years and this is my favorite out of all of them. I havent run into any problems and have been having a blast. I dont know why people feel the need to bash a game just because they dont like it.

    Loved it. Beautiful game. Multiplayer is great. Love the additions. Campaign is the only thing I was a little disappointed on. Over all I'm very happy with my purchase and the series is still the only shooter worth playing. It is the only shooter with smooth controls.

    Must buy game don't listen to all these noobs here just bashing the game because its 100x better then Battlefield 3. Battlefield clams they where going to make Call of Duty go away funny when they failed to even have more online activity then Black Ops and MW2 enough said CoD will always be number 1 don't you kids forget that.

    a flawless perfect game with stunning graphics and an amazing campaign mode that not all it also has spec ops which is great co op and an hectic online experience which cant be matched do not buy bf3 while there is a great game like modern warfare 3 or as i call it modern funfare 3 (best game in gaming history)

    It's rare that the third game in a series is the best but MW3 is, in my opinion the best of the CoD MW trilogy. Yes, it's easy to say it's more of the same - on the surface it is, it looks and feels comfortable just like the innovations in FIFA 12 or Forza 4 but look below the surface and you realise this is a game with depth. Firstly the single player campaign is a cinematic rollerIt's rare that the third game in a series is the best but MW3 is, in my opinion the best of the CoD MW trilogy. Yes, it's easy to say it's more of the same - on the surface it is, it looks and feels comfortable just like the innovations in FIFA 12 or Forza 4 but look below the surface and you realise this is a game with depth. Firstly the single player campaign is a cinematic roller coaster ride. The story is worthy of a good action thriller and the action draws you in. If you are a fan of the series I'm sure you will enjoy how the game ties up all the loose ends, as always there is clever use of flashbacks to add story detail. The campaign is one of the few I will replay, it really is that good. Spec Ops adds another dimension, survival mode is frantic and the challenges are well executed. Solo play means you can get to enjoy this mode even if your friends happen to be busy and you don't like the idea of teaming up with the randoms on xbox live. The use of the XP / levelling up system works again well here. Again similar to before but just that little bit better.

    Multiplayer is of course where this game really excels. The real innovation here is what I call for the rest of us. If like me you don't dominate the leader boards and are often middle to low on each round scoreboard previous versions of MW could be frustrating. As a result of the previous MW series bias toward only the best player I was always more of a Battlefield fan as there were simply more ways to gain experience than having to be a deadeye marksman. Now with the support packages and kill streaks that carry through deaths there is a chance to level the score. There is also a much greater sense of progression - probably because the playing field has been levelled slightly by the support packages - both in rank terms but also with each weapon and various attachments. If you were one of those who just liked to dominate everyone else in the game you probably don't like it - for the rest of us it's a big improvement.

    By sticking to the same success formula with a rip roaring single player story and by levelling the playing field slightly in online MW3 is the best of the series.    … Expand

    Great game! If you don´t like it, go cry and play this crap called Battlefield 3! (: The singeplayer is short, but way more intense then Battlefield 3. The multiplayer isn't just an 'add-on' like a lot of battlefield fanboys say.. There are so much new things: New weapons (a lot!) , new locations & a lot of new killstreaks. And even a new multiplayer mode! So hell yeah, a 10!

    Genuinely one of the most polished and rounded shooters made. This iteration really is one of the most balanced multiplayer experiences you will find. It feels alot like counterstrike in many ways and I think the community will still regularly play this title long after the next in the series is released.

    Very Good Game,enjoying it much more than MW2,yes it will never beat Modern Warfare but to me that game was a game changer and they only tend to happen for me once a console generation,but its a very good FPS

OK, so I have played quite a bit of this game so far and I will admit that it is more of the same, but to the point where you don't really care anymore. The new improvements are really good (Call of Duty Elite is great) and the new "Pointstreaks" give everyone a chance and they are all really well balanced. The campaign side was pretty bland, kind of like Battlefield 3 but we all know that multiplayer is where it's at for these games, and MW3 won't disappoint. If you were never really a Call of Duty fan, this game won't change your mind. If you love Call of Duty, then you will love this game. To be honest, I am quite shocked the user score for this game is so low, but I can't judge how people feel about a game. This game is worth the money. I know there is a battle between MW3 and Battlefield 3 and being a fan of both games, I would have to choose Battlefield 3 over MW3 by a slim margin because Battlefield 3 feels like it's a complete and total overhaul that is crafted very nicely. MW3 gets an 8/10, Battlefield 3 gets a 9/10. They are both amazing games. Period.… Expand

I was looking for everything I liked about MW2 but with more content - which I think was aptly delivered. The perks are well balanced, a solid selection of weapons, corrected weapon ranges (no more Uzi kills from across the map), much improved killstreak system, addition of weapon proficiencies, and better selection of equipment. The only negatives I have found are that since 3 of the assault rifles are built off the same platform, many of the weapons look the same (though they perform much differently). Also compared to MW2 many of the maps of MW3 are very cluttered which isn't necessarily a bad thing but will effect your overall style of play. Bottom line: If you like MW2, you will like this game.     Played CoDMW3 for a few hours, single player is tough on Veteran difficulty but enjoyable, multiplayer is as good as always with my only grief being quick scoping sniper rifle use being rampant (hence the 9). Co-Op is a worthy challenge to get 3 stars on each mission.
    Happy with my purchase of the Hardened Edition and it'll get a lot more gaming time put into it.

    I just played the 1st mission of the single player, but I can tell you I had fun as hell fighting through the streets of new york and the stock market. I don't care if it's short (from what I've heard), but the campaign is a blast.

    Bashing a game for its graphics its like bashing a porn movie for its story. Seriously guys, the graphic improvement is NOT obvious, but it's there. You will realize when you play the campaign. In the multiplayer I haven't looked in detail, but it's the same engine so obviously the improvement is also there. Do yourselves and us a favor kids and stop being so retarded, go play Pong on atari or something.

    Not to mention spec ops. I haven't tried it out yet, but it sure sounds like challenging and hella fun.

    I give this game a 10 since I could not give it a 9.5. I think its a pretty big update since Modern Warfare 2. They did not exactly build from scratch, but they did return to the basics and reworked what we loved and already worked. The graphics are amazing, the maps look a little familiar to prior COD maps but the gameplay is just amazing. Ive played the campaign a bit and it just reallyI give this game a 10 since I could not give it a 9.5. I think its a pretty big update since Modern Warfare 2. The graphics are amazing, the maps look a little familiar to prior COD maps but the gameplay is just amazing. Ive played the campaign a bit and it just really captivates you in to solving the conflict at hand. It really does feel like your fighting in a modern war torn city and the fire fights are as always EPIC. The multiplayer has by far the best balance I have experienced from any of the titles. Infinity Ward is one of my favorite studios and Sledgehammer added some good stuff to the project as well. Ive been up for 2 days straight lol. Not because Im trying to rank up or collect, but because I can't get enough of it. They have once again out done themselves and the polish that was put into this game really shows, so work my $60. :)… Expand

    I like the game but I love mw2 two things I hate are, the points to get kill streaks. This makes kill streaks pointless because every one has them I was killed 5 times in around 50seconds by stealth bombers, secondly the maps are shocking not just one or two there all really bad, I was hoping the dlc will bring better maps but I then remember they make the maps at the same time as the gameI like the game but I love mw2 two things I hate are, the points to get kill streaks. The online is a CQB style so the complaints that "the maps are to small" that I have been hearing are stupid. Infinity Ward has done a Great Job with making Call of Duty games, it's the other company that has been putting out trash!     Once again I am impressed with COD. I've explored other MMO and nothing even comes close to COD. I highly recommend this to anyone. They added new guns, new care packages and a highly addicted survival mode. And the maps are just insane. They're huge with so many nooks and crannies. You find out something new every game you play.

My only issue with the game is it didn't bring anything new to the table. In my opinion though it is well worth the price tag to live out the Modern Warfare story and see that fool get his in the end.

    Awesome as expected from IW. The new engine is so smooth and dynamic, Spec ops is great, and online is still the best around. Call of Duty wins again!

    It is the best COD game I've played I really liked the changes they did to the multiplayer is what I like best, the campaign seemed to me epic, vertical, above all entertaining. I did not expect anything from this call of duty but has left me with mouth open and confident hope to play all year greetings.

    MW3 is what every CoD fan should want. A polished version of the great game we all love. I'm surprised how many negative user reviews they are? How many of the bad reviews were written by disappointed BF3 players???? There's no such thing as a CoD killer.........

    Haters gonna hate. But I love it. Multiplayer system of perks and streaks different from Black Ops. No more money system, but you unlock points to unlock weapon attachments and streak. Also, different types of streaks (assault vs support) conform to how you play.

    Does it feel like mw2? yes, does it feel like dlc..a little. Is it the same fun and consistency you expect fomr cod yes. 60 bucks a year for new maps and new features seems fair to me, I think it is just "cool" to hate on this game right now.

    I don't see why there is so much negativity around this game. It wasn't bad at all, infact it was great. Why anyone would expect it to be different than Modern Warfare 2 is beyond me, considering they take place within a day from each other. Either way the gameplay is fun and it's an overall well made game.

    I give it a 10. Common its Call Of Duty...Its the best game you ever played. The reason these scores are so low is because people who enjoy it don't want to put the controller down long enough to review it. It's tough to argue the sheer amount of people playing the game!

The campaign is a blast, and is literally the best since MW1. I thought MW2 was complete garbage, but I really like MW3; it reminds me why I liked MW1 so much.     I personally think this game is GREAT. I love how fun the campaign is , I also love how fun the online play is with new game modes like Kill Confirmed. Do not listen to what other people say, if you are a true Call of Duty fan , you would like this game.

    This game may have one or two flaws, but that doesn't mean it should get a zero. Hell, it shouldn't get anything below an eight. This is one of the best games people will ever play, but they don't like the way a certain gun sounds when it is fired, so they give it a two. I am disappointed at how little my generation cares. Oh, yeah, the games great by the way.

    Started playing MW3 on release day, and to put it simply: The Best just got Better! The campaign was amazing and ended an awesome story. Multiplayer was excellent with new modes, maps and guns. The survival mode in spec-ops was another highlight. In conclusion MW3 was one of the best games I ever played.

My score is based on the multiplayer mode since that's generally what I play and I have been getting just as much enjoyment out of this version as the past ones, if not more. Having quickscoping seems hokey, but it's not a deal-breaker.     Best COD ever! This game is not just better than black ops, it annihaltes everything about it. MW3 takes the COD formula and redefines it with amazing tweaks and the amazing integration of elite. This is a must buy for any shooter fan.

No ability to play custom user made maps? No user made content AT ALL. No custom made user modes. Hell, Halo 3 let's you do that. There's no innovation what-so-ever. Same guns. Same sounds. Same run 'n gun fluff BS. The netcode is awful. How many times have I died while shooting at an enemy only to look at the killcam and watch myself not even turn towards the enemy. Or what's with dying and having all of your bullets that were in transit disappear? You can never shoot your enemy and kill him at the same time he kills you.

    What happened to the days where you could could filter a server list by types of maps or types of game modes? Yeah, like a dedicated server that runs a roulette of a certain type of game mode. Or even map voting or game mode voting. There's nothing. The only thing MW ever had going for it was it's invention of the online FPS RPG system and what do they do? They drag it out. They don't even build on what they've built before. How about instead of prestige-ing, only to do the same things OVER AND OVER again, you invent something NEW? How about new and interesting maps that aren't just random sandscapes with military vehicles or boxes strewn about? The story line is like that of a movie that keep you interested to the point where you say to yourself: 'I'll just play this next little bit so I know what happens', which is what I want in a game. The multiplayer is yet again a giant leap. It combines all the stuff we loved from the previous titles and improves in every single way. From the simple things like being able to connect with your friends over facebook (simple but brilliant), to the new way in which the kill streaks work allowing you to select assault or support depending on your gaming style, to the new game modes available.

    The game mode that stands out the most to me is without a doubt kill confirmed. I find myself thrown in to a game with complete strangers who I have never gamed with before but who all work as a team. Now to me that is what makes these games successful, the ability to make people work as a team. Of course all of the other game modes are still there so you can play your classic favorites but give the new ones a go, you might be surprised.

    The kill streak system now makes the game a lot more accessible to players, meaning that not only the elite, 30 kills no deaths players, get to use all of the toys that undoubtedly increase there kill to death ratio even more. Now you can choose assault, where your kills reset when you die and the rewards are used for assaulting the enemy, or support, where your kills do not reset when you die and the rewards are used to support your team. My friends who are not as good as some of the players on COD find this great as they don't have their hard earned kills removed from them when they die.

    Overall I think this is a great game and it baffles me as to why it has got such low reviews when you consider the amount of people who have bought the game already and the amount of people playing the game who keep saying that it is brilliant.

    I think people who are expecting a brilliant single player will be more than pleased with MW3 but those expecting a long single player game will be a little let down but you have to take into consideration previous games, and I mean all previous games. I have played near enough every first person shooter imaginable and what you tend to get is a brilliant and long single player experience with a pretty shoddy multiplayer experience, or a rubbish and short single player experience with an amazing multiplayer experience. Now I think it's safe to say that MW3 has a pretty healthy balance of the two which is rare in first person shooter games.

    For those who are not into your multiplayer gaming online and just buying this for the single player: you are missing out and quite frankly foolish.

I picked this up for £45 at my local store which is a little more than I would usually pay for a game but you know what, I would pay double that for this game!     Great "replay-ability"! Out with COD Points and back to earning your weapons and perks. Minus all of the camper spots that plagued Black Ops and MW2. Hate all you want, but for for how much time you can put into this game and only pay a minimum of 60 bucks is there really a better all around shooter out there? BUY IT!

    Great game. If you enjoyed other Call of Duty games you will enjoy this one. Solid online,Spec-Ops is good, survival is a good addition and a fun campaign.

    Definitely exceeded my expectations. The only thing I would like to see is a 4 player co-op mode. Special ops is fun and all, but a 4 player survival mode would have been a welcome addition. Not a big fan of the heart beat sensor either.

    i thought the story was very good, maybe not as good as mw2, but still very good. the mp is as good as ever with a more in depth perk system and the addition of weapons perks.

The online play again is very good, sticking to the same format the maps are fairly small but the introduction of the new strike packages are welcomed as if you are not very good you can still rack up kills and proceed to get kill streaks.

    The only criticisms I have as stated before was the length fo the campaign, other then that this is a brilliant game and you get what you expect from the Call of Duty series.    … Expand

A better campaign mode can be found on the iPhone in the form of cheap Call of Duty knock-off games (chief among which being the Modern Combat series). The multiplayer conflict between games is a personal choice in my opinion, with players more inclined to go for tense focused firefights at home in MW3, while those who like huge blown-out battles with 64 players much more likely to enjoy BF3. In my opinion DICE have not created as wholesome a product as Activision's handful of studios, with the multiplayer being the only redeemable facet of the game. Spec Ops makes a return in MW3, with 16 missions which are all challenging and fun. I personally hoped for a few more missions, but the new Survival gametype adding a new layer of challenge and fun to the game. With MW3, three fleshed out and polished modes are available to the user, with each living up to the hype of previous games. While this game isn't quite a 10 in my view, I have rated it thus to counter the massive amounts of fanboys attacking the metacritic user score of this game. I am livid at the aggression of both EA and BF3 fans in attacking this game and using dirty tactics to try and deplete fans fof the CoD series. What shocks me most is the inability of these groups to be honourable about the whole thing and let the two games battle it out based on their quality alone. Activision has kept quiet about the whole thing and put a great investment into their game, whereas EA has used tactics bordering on corporate espionage to dishonestly degrade their competition. Thankfully, they have failed. For the above reasons, I rate this game 10/10… Expand

    personally i loved it a hell lot more than bf3....and unfavourable no way at all....

    Forget Black Ops. This game keeps everything that was great about MW2 and fixes what was broken with it. Anyone who gave this game a really low score must have very unrealistic expectations. The campaign was short but the multiplayer will keep you coming back. The Kill Confirmed mode really adds a challenging twist to TDM. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a fast paced shooter.

    The human mind loves repetition. Don't people see that cod would have died out a lifetime ago if it was to dramatically change? what do you think keeps people buying it each year? the same familiar MP with a new twist each year that many of us crave, not to mention an awesome story (although a little Michael Bay style i will say). Love it or hate it, but don't hate it without a justified reason.

    Incredible multiplayer maps (eliminates camping to a vast extent!!!), awesome new killstreak/pointstreak system rewarding the objective player. Shotguns do suck and snipers are annoying to play against as they were in mw2. Solid singleplayer with an interesting campaign.

I've always liked the Call of Duty games, but I've never been obsessed over the series. I was already excited enough for MW3, with it being all about World War 3 and continuing a story line that I was already very in too. So like I said, my expectations were blown away! Although MW3 may have nothing new to offer when it comes to gameplay, that is no reason not to love this game and everything else it has to offer. Those who are just in it for the multiplayer are coming in short handed and not even experiencing half of what MW3 really has to offer and the amazement that comes with it.

    Hands down, MW3 is more then worth buying. It's a game the other game designers should really envy. The only reason the ratings are so low for most of the gamers here, is because they only play the multiplayer and are not getting MW3's full experience. (Not that the multiplayer is something anyone should be disappointed about.) Either that or the Battlefield 3 lovers. Or the COD haters all around. **** you guys.     I have played every COD this generation. I've really enjoyed most of them (COD3 being the exception). But I was finding myself growing a bit tired of the formula. Thinking I wanted something new, I entended to skip this COD and pick up Battlefield 3 instead. Then I played the BF3 beta and found myself struggling to get into it. So when BF3 hit, I decided to rent it instead of buy itI have played every COD this generation. I've really enjoyed most of them (COD3 being the exception). But I was finding myself growing a bit tired of the formula. Thinking I wanted something new, I entended to skip this COD and pick up Battlefield 3 instead. Then I played the BF3 beta and found myself struggling to get into it. So when BF3 hit, I decided to rent it instead of buy it outright. I beat the campaign, it was decent. But again, I struggled to get into the multiplayer. It was well crafted, but just didn't gel with me. So I canceled my BF3 order and ordered COD MW3. And despite my earlier feelings of wanting something different, I found myself in love with the series all over again. The campaign is possibly my favorite so far. The multiplayer, while familiar, adds enough to make it feel exciting again (I especially love Kill Confirmed mode and the way points help unlock support packages...)! I've not spent much time with Spec Ops or Survival yet... but that just speaks to the wealth of content available in this title. There was much doubt that the "new" Infinity Ward could bring the quality that the founders were known for once they departed Activision. But the truth is, I find Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 to be a better game all around than Infinity Ward's last game, Modern Warfare 2. And since World at War and Black Ops turned out solid (in my book), between the new Infinity Ward and Treyarch, this franchise is in good hands. Yes, one could still argue that this series hasn't taken many risks this generation... but at the same time, they must be doing something right. I'm not the only one who keeps coming back for more, and having a great time in the process.… Expand

    Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

    I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
