Those texture problems? No big deal one quick update and your good to go and the final product to Battlefield 3 is simply amazing WHEN it comes to multiplayer, campaign however I will admit is not as great but this game after all was not made for campaign but rather for its incredible and better than Call of Duty multiplayer you can fly planes drop out of them too this game is for mature players not for Call of Duty's 12 year old denizens Battlefield 3 is simply great and it deserves the 9 I am giving it thank you for reading. The important thing to remember is that they are not gamebreaking flaws and dont deter from the incredible fun factor that is contained within the massively addictive multiplayer. One of the main reasons for this is one of the games major downpoints, the single player mode. The story is uninspired and follows the usual first person shooter staple of quick-time events and vehicle sections to build to a creschendo of the obvious. I will say the graphics during the single player are astounding at times and it does contain some rather funky set pieces, But we all know that BF3's single player is just tagged on because in these day and age, games have to try and cater for everybody. The developer, Dice have sort have given a nod to this in the fact that its stituated on the second disc. The multiplayer mode however sits on the disc uno, along with a HD pack thing that you have to install to your hard drive before you can play the game (this, coupled with a 189mb dashboard update for the game that fixes a lot of the games launch day/beta issues). Inside you will find plethroa of meaty maps, epic in scale, filled with usable vehicles and gun emplacements, choppers and jet fighters (the latter two are hard to control in the default controll scheme so i recommend switching the controls to southpaw in the options menu.) The XP unlock system is basic but effective giving the game a longetivy and also allowing you to unlock weapons, camo, attachments and special abilitys and also weapons for vehicles. Super polished and intensley addictive. Most players however wont give it a chance due to the other elephant in the room. The big COD, now, fact is, I played Call of Duty annually since the original Modern Warfare and will day that the game is a great game, The gameplay grew stale in my opinion and I decided to seek elsewhere for my first person fix. BF3 has filled those boots well so much so its taken choice over this years interation of the Infinity Ward game. For most COD vets, this game will be too hard, and contain too much learning curve. Stick with it however and you will b rewarded greatly. Expand

Game looks amazing, but it's still the same old thing when it comes to multiplayer. I must say that I find this game to be one of the most unbalanced multiplayer games ever. The more you use something, especially a vehicle, the more perks/advancements you get. If you come in as a level one and get into a chopper fight with a level 20, there is no way you will win. I understand that the point of leveling up is to unlock something, but it should not be to the point where the perks make you invincible to lower levels. You run into the same issues while playing online as you did in BC2, mechanics running behind tanks making them invincible, camping flags, etc. The single player is vanilla flavored, nothing special and you have played this story before in any shooter that has come out in the past 10 years. For so much hype and trash talk, I was hoping for something that wasn't so bland and recycled. Expand

Although the single player campaign isn't worth your time the multi-player experience is a great deal of fun. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and each class has well defined roles on the battlefield. Tactics play an important role in winning games. This is not a run and gun experience it is a battlefield.

The campaign is purely for the eyecandy. Definitely no innovation as it's basically a rail shooter with infinite spawning enemies until you reach the next checkpoint. They're two totally different experiences, and they both excel in what they're trying to do on the multiplayer level. The only thing that truly hurts BF3 is the fact that it had to be trimmed for consoles, but it's not BF's fault that consoles simply cannot handle it. It would have been like trying to port Crysis 1 without the CryEngine3. BF3 shows us that the end of this console generation is here, and that this generation is now holding back innovation and the future of games (seriously, wtf is the physics engine on MW? Am I the only one that is dissapointed that grenades dont move wood pallets or outright destroy them? Seriously, Source has better physics implemented in it) They're different animals... that's all- and lets be honest, BF3 does way more for the gaming community than MW, as it stands, will ever be able to do. BF3 will only get better from here as the expansions roll out. Expand

Graphics alone should merit this game a high score... add the additional different modes and you have a very fun game that will keep you hooked. There are some glitches here and there but for a game this size and built on a new engine.. its to be expected and the best part is that it will be fixable through patches.

Jets & helicopters explode around you & its just completely overwhelming what they've achieved with it. I expected a lot * the game has delivered big time. There is going to be a large community evolving over it's multiplayer for quite a long time and the game plays well. The disappointment is the glitches that occur during the game and some missions in the single player are boring at times. The graphics though are Fantastic. The engine runs well with the sounds and visuals and is basically sometimes the reason why people buy this game. If you want a strong multiplayer then grab a copy, but if you want it for the single player experience then it is recommended to buy a game like Crysis 2 or Call of Duty because it lacks in entertainment. I don't want to play Deathmatch non-stop, but that is what you have to do to even be able to compete in the other game types. If you don't level your weapons up, then you will get owned in Rush and Conquest modes. Luckily for me I was able to lock in a $40 trade in at amazon for the game. The games looks and sounds great, but trying to play it is a completely different story. I have seen much of the same as other have reported with unresponsiveness. Also what is that it takes multiple head shots to take-down the AI in campaign. That is what I mean by horrible hit detection. Didn't buy the game because the reviews described it as average and incredibly buggy, I am only giving this game a zero because of the battlefield fans giving MW3 zeros which is by far a better game made by developers far far more talented than DICE. The reason i have given the game an 8 is that it loses a point for its so-so campaign and another one for its lack of destructibility which for me is one of the main draws of the series since Bad Company, i dont know if its just the console version but there is a lot less destructibility in the multiplayer than in Bad Company 2 taking away the potential feeling of joy as you blow through a wall and stab somebody in the back. I have brought MW and the prestige editions for MW2 and Black Ops and loved Bad Company 2. Now I didn't even show an interest in MW3 I may even end up buying it later on down the track just for the single-player because I got sick of playing MW2 and Black Ops online just to get quick scoped all the time or the guys who are in a party just go on different teams and just keep killing one guy for the kill streaks. Now I brought BF3 when it was released and I have only played the first mission of BF3 because most of my time I've been playing the multiplayer. I believe that the open maps and number of vehicles you can control create many different tactics you can apply to the battlefield and I have even witnessed different tactics used against me. True that the servers were really bad the first week but they worked on them and now it's up and running perfectly! Plus the add-on we get for free (if you purchased the limited edition) which has new vehicles, weapons, and re-created maps from the previous game. Where as and I'm sorry about this but paying 1200 MS points for 4-6 maps as just outrageous and yes I did purchase 1 or 2 of the map packs. If anyone has actually read up to this point I am a casual gamer and love my games, even so much I don't even trade them or resell them but if you are looking for a great multiplayer experience this game is for you, the amount of upgrades for your weapons, even with your level, plus for each vehicle, will just keep you coming back for more. The only thing they really need to work on is an easier way to quit out of a game without waiting for a new game to start. I hope this review helps a lot of people decide on which game to purchase, lol or just buy both. Expand

I haven't been impressed with anything EA puts out though and with them gobbling up all the smaller game developers, they are ruining the gaming industry by putting out half-assed games. Expand

One of my favorite shooters I own to date. The new graphics engine is beautiful and the game feels like no other on the market. Games that take strides towards innovation deserve to be recognized.

All I can say is thank you for your hard work good job DICE even if there is connectivity issues at least its new and not the same old thing like your competitor. I am not a fan boy like this other review says. I liked COD and I like the BF games, but IS isn't changing anything. I have both games and just think BF3 looks alot better ancient more fun than playing the same thing that I did on MW2.

The single player campaign is so so but I can see myself playing the multiplayer long into the future.

Great game. Strong graphics and even stronger sound design. You cant come closer to a simulation war game than this. Jets flying over head as helicopters drop off troops while tanks blow up walls and it all comes together to create a unique battlefield.

Fantastic game far superior to any Fps I have ever played. The game is huge with hundreds of hours worth of unlocks and multiplayer experience this game never ends and even though the games campaign is underwhelming the wealth of features well makes up for it. This game is a must buy and frankly those comparing it to COD have obviously never played it!

The best thing about Battlefiled 3 is the mulitiplayer is amazing. Being able to use vehicles is the way to go for shooters. I didn't really like the campaign mode that much, Too short and never got into the story. But the multiplayer is where Battlefield 3 truly shines and it fun as hell. 8.5

A game wanting to be the best in a genre it serisouly lags in. New engine was a nice try but a huge fail overall. Still nothing new in multiplayer. Same old vehicles, huge maps, boring game modes that are truly unrewarding.

This game is definately the best fps ive played in a long time. The single player looks amazing and has a pretty good story. while the Campaign is ok, multiplayer is where this game really shines. Games are intense and the action is awesome, there isnt an abundance of 12 year olds screaming like Call of Duty, and the frostbite engine takes the gameplay over the top. Bravo DICE bravo

Campaign, very disappointing but multiplayer? Awesome! Amazing! The action and excitement comes from all around you, 360 degrees! But as for Modern Warfare3 it's all in a straight line which is fun at times but people prefer the fun to be all around you and getting shot by jets from up above.

DICE really listen to their community, but I feel that BF3 could've been better. I feel that it was released earlier than its competitor MW3 in order to take most of its crowd earlier. There are a few awesome multiplayer maps, but then there are some which I feel were influenced too much by CoD. There are also too many chokepoints and very few places to flank, e.g., Operation Metro on Conquest mode. Destruction is back, but not in the same crazy degree as in BC2. Single player isn't all too special, there are no characters to feel attached to and the transitions feel eerily similar to Black Ops. There is also a sad amount of co-op missions. The single player way overwhelmed...the multiplayer has its moments...but the vehicles sometimes sap the fun out of the game. the gun play is a positive but it would be better if the game moved at 60 frames per second like the computer version.

This game is a complete let down, the graphics took a back seat, the multiplayer is laggy and clunky, and the story mode is a rip off from black ops. Don't believe the reviews and save your money, rent it and experience it for yourself. Not to mention the servers suck, i hope EA gets their act together next time.

Thats multiplayer in a nutshell. Anarchic and beautiful in equal measure. With lots of replayability and unlocks its the main part of the game. The single player tho not quite as memorable is still good as an extra something on the side and shows off the graphics engine better, best viewed as a multiplayer tutorial thats amazingly done. Multiplayer- This is the point of Battlefield 3. The maps are nice I like them better than BC2 and everything just feels a bit smoother than BC2. Sure there's a few glitches here and there but nothing real big.
Customization in this game is much better. So much more guns and attachments that theres always something you can unlock soon. Makes the game much more addicting.
Overall I love this game. The multiplayer in this game is unmatched. Though the campaign is a little dissapointing people will be playing this games excellent multiplayer for years to come.

Hands down BF3 is the best and most realistic shooter. If you want 12 year old sand box game then MW3 is the game for you. If you want a realistic, all around awesome game and a game that is made for real gamers then BF3 is it. One last thing...dedicated servers people. No more pubescent a-holes lag switching...enough said.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
