A great game, but severely over-hyped.
If people felt like MW3 was MW2.5, then this game is Bad Company 2.5
The campaign looks amazing, but falls short in the end.
Multiplayer is good, but i personally dont like how slow it is, you can win a match without even firing you're weapon which to me makes it not a shooter, but a war strategy. Good game, just far too similar to the last BF title.

This is a great game, although I know we all wish it had a longer campaign. The game has an incredibly in-depth multiplayer, though it is relatively slow-paced. I legitimately thought the game was very good. Way better than the garbage that was BC2. However, I wasn't going to give it a 10 until IGN insisted on writing TWO full articles crying about "Metacritic trolling." Sorry not everyone agrees with you, IGN.

This game has one of the greatest campaigns in all of history. This game has one the best multiplayer experiences in all of history. This game has one of the best graphics engines in all of history. This game is one of the best in all of history. I loved it. Skyrim has none of these but somehow I still like it better :/

Apparently they assumed everyone has played a previous BF title and will know what the sam hill is going on. I know everyone is in love with the new frostbite engine but I honestly can't see it. I think it looks terrible. The high contrast, lighting and this weird blue tinge everywhere give it a disjointed, unrealistic look. There are lots of graphic anomolies. A lamp post giving off light that forms a perfect, unmoving triangle like it's a painting. Another yellow light forming a perfect triangle in the daytime! At least I thought it was the day time because of a BLINDING white light coming from the direction of the sun, but then I noticed it was also raining and the sky was dark in other places. WTF! I also noticed what looked like water running down the side of a building but then from a different angle it disappeared! I also noticed my gun was wobbling around like it was hung from a string. Thankyou for the continual break in immersion. I remember installing the texture pack but I had to go into the system memory and check just to make sure because the graphics jsut look terrible. I realize I may not have given the game a fair shake but this was enough for me to leave the game for good. Expand

    GENIUS.

This game is mark of genius.

And like any other review of a game that in my opinion should be multiplayer only, I will NOT be reviewing the single player. But if I did, it would have no effect on this score.

    Lets get right to it

    GAMEPLAY:

Its like a moving symphony, I remember reading up on Grand Theft Auto III just a couple weeks ago. And the man behind the game was asked what makes his game so great. To which he replied "Its not all the systems we have in Grand Theft Auto III that makes the game great, it how all these systems are working together at once, that make the game so great"

And I couldn't have though of a better quote for this game.

Its not the fact that you can sneak around, like your favourite stealth action game character, using a silenced sniper rifle take out enemies from a distance, and then close the game to stab someone in the back. Its not the fact, that when you are shot at, at least for the first time, it scares you so badly, you damn near break the controller trying to go prone, its not the fact that when you are working with three other guys who are all communicating you feel like you are a SWAT team clearing out an area of terrorists, its not the fact that when you have can communicate with your friendly, tanks, harriers, and apache helicopters, to issue an air strike, or a bombing strike on your enemy.

Wait what?! THERE IS KILLSTEAKS IN BATTLEFIELD?

No, there isn't. But you wouldn't believe how many times I've thrown my mic on to tell the attack helicopter pilot I have a tank at B, and my troops are all out of anti-armor weapons. NAME ONE GAME YOU CAN DO THAT IN?! YOU CAN'T HAHAHA

    Continuing on;
Its not the fact that no matter how you play, you always have the potential to help your team out, its not the fact that you can slit the throat of five different enemies whom of which are all standing right next to each other, without a single one of them having any idea whats going on, I feel like I could keep going, but I think I should do the reader a favour by actually going into detail.

First I'm going to start off with my favourite part about this game.

If there was ever a tv show that was just all about guns (I don't watch tv, so if there is one, pretend I said that) this would be the video game for it.

All the guns behave EXACTLY like they do in real life. They all sound EXACTLY like they do in real life, they fire are the same rate and speed as they do in real life, they have the same magazine sizes as they do in real life. They fire the same bullets as they do in real life.

If you wanted, you could look up the list of the gun names in BF3, and then do a google search on the internet for the actual gun, and it would tell you everything you need to know about the gun in the game.

    That to me is impressive.

The most impressive part about that?

The fact that since they've decided to go realistic with the guns, that means that for the first time ever in a online first person shoot (first time ever) DICE can release guns for DLC without having to worry about them being balanced.

Incase you were wondering, thats why you don't get guns in call of duty DLC. Because the guns in call of duty fire "x"% damage. Meaning that if they brought in another gun, they'd either have to redesign every other gun already in the game, or basically make the new gun useless. Which is bring me to my second most favourite thing about this game.

You never feel like you died unfairly.

Now, there was one time where I thought I died unfairly. I hopped into a scout chopper, with chain guns, and some anti-air missiles. I found another helicopter, safe to say, I shot him about 4 times with anti-air missiles, all within a very short amount of time. 2 take down a chopper of that size, so when he didn't go down, I was upset. I figure out that he had engineers that were repairing their helicopter mid air.

    The solution to this problem?

Get about within 10-20 feet of their chopper, and fire those anti-air.

Doesn't even give them a chance to repair hahahaha
I LOVE THIS GAME! There is NEVER a reason in this game why you should do badly. And by that I mean, if you are doing badly, you can chance your strategy, and I guarantee you will immediately improve. Here are the **** part about this game. Now the first you may dismiss, because I do not know whether or not they have fixed it but; Someone people will not die, I recall shooting someone in the head three times in a row with the most high powered sniper rifle, and trust me, even if he had 30 health packs right next to him, he would still die. Also, support class gets mortar. Which means they can sit in their spot, incapable of dieing, and then they sit there for an ENTIRE game, and just wait to get kills. Personally I think its hilarious, that kind of strategy will make the call of duty fans happy.

I would give this a 10 if two things were fixed; be able to quit to the menu screen right after a match and not make it so hard to invite friends. Love this game. So refreshing to get in vehicles and blow up the scenery. Makes other games that can't do this seem dated...

I loved Battlefield Bad Company 2's multiplayer mode, it was fun, innovative, and time-consuming, to me this was the best multiplayer game out there. After playing it for over 20 hours I can safely say that it has lived up it's predecessor's standards. The new guns, vehicles, and the new Frostbite 2 engine run perfectly. Although there are some hitches in the gameplay in the middle of a match. I noticed that sometimes some of the gadgets glitch and end up not doing anything, for example one time one of my squad mates got killed right next to me and so I took out my defibrillator to revive him, but no matter how hard I tried i couldn't revive him. There are just small hitches in the game, most of the time they aren't noticeable but on rare occasions they can hinder your gameplay. Now I will move to the Campaign, it is not very good, at all, compared to the multiplayer experience single player suffers greatly. The campaign consists of 1 minute of gunplay and then a quick time event, also the AI is far to easy at some points, and then at other points, the AI is so difficult I die after 2 seconds. The campaign is not good at all, but the multiplayer is where it is at. I would give this game a perfect ten for an innovative multiplayer but unfortunately a single player campaign was added and it dragged the game down. If you're going to buy this game, buy it for the multiplayer, not the campaign. Expand

This is more strategic and less ball-to-wall than its CoD counterpart, and the introduction of vehicles mixes it up too. The only problem I have is that it is more difficult to pinpoint the enemy, and be accurate if you are new to the franchise. I often get killed without having ever seen my killer. While this can be frustrating, it is not enough to bring the experience down too much. Expand

Single Player was average at best and even though it did capture the essence of the battlefield, it did not deliver on story telling and making the player feel emotionally attatched to the characters. While playing it though I did not get bored and it definately was not a bad campaign and well worth playing, but dont expect it to live up to all the hype it does in the trailers. DICE focused soley on the multiplayer aspect of this game and it definately shows, with months of unlocks it is definatley worth investing time into this game. You will always feel like your'e progressing even though you're not killing someone, and there is so much you can do to help you're team such as healing teamates, reparing vehicles and so much more. However there is a downside and I believe that it is pretty major. PC versions of BF3 have 64 player online where the battlefield feels real and on the console's it has 24 the same for BC2. Trailers depict heavy battle with explosions happening all around you while this may well ring true for the PC version this is definately not the case for console and is a real shame. While it works well on small maps such as Grand Bazaar big maps on conquest like caspian border feel shameful and hardly any action will take place. If you have a PC that can play this game then I strongly sugest you go get that but it is perfectly fine for the Xbox 360 and one game that will keep me entertained for months perhaps years Expand

It could have been perfect with a better campaign or additional game modes, and also the interfaces are a bit uncomfortable by the time to create your classes or choosing your weapons, but for the moment it's without any doubt my favourite game. There are a few minor cons, but it should not be hard to look past them and focus on the great things it does. For example, jets are extremely challenging to level up at first seeing as how all you have is a machine gun. However, once you can finally unlock the flares and then the missiles, you will be a force. The dog fights are intense! The maps are great in this game as well. They remind me of the old CoD4's maps only much larger. Rush Mode is the best game mode. It requires squads to coordinate attacks in order to win. You must plant bombs to blow up M-COM stations if you are attacking, and you defend them if you are defending. Conquest is another great game mode. In this mode you have to control certain areas in order to win. It's similar to a Domination type game. Team Deathmatch is also in this game as well. The Single Player is not the best, but its bearable. The graphics and set pieces are great in this game. The live action events are annoying, but they make sense for the plot. If you are a veteran of CoD and are looking for another war game to play on the side or to take over your love of CoD, this game is a much more suitable substitution than games such as Homefront or Mag.e Expand

Unlike the competition, there is a real teamwork element to each round- in CoD games, a team with one amazing player can win every time. In BF3, the team that works together the most generally wins. There were some connection issues on release on XBOX LIve, but those seem to have been completely resolved (I can now get into an online game in BF3 more consistently than any other game I've played on XBL) If you're looking for a gripping single player mode, pass on this game. I thought the story was well done and the quicktime events were alright. I would have liked to see a more Crysis-like campaign but obviously this game out-shines any other when it comes to mulitplayer. In a market saturated with CoD games every single year, BF3 is something new and exciting. Vehicles; land, sea and air, and massive online battles, (24-console, 64-PC) make it stand out. Teamwork is also emphasized much more than other shooters and being 1st in a game doesn't mean you have to most kills thanks to being able to heal and revive team mates, repair vehicles and give out ammo cache as well as capturing points for your team. The single-player has been improved and the campaign makes a refreshing change after playing the Bad Company series, which I found quite cheesy and gimmicky, now it feels dynamic with impressive 'Call of Duty' style scripted set pieces. The co-op campaign is pretty good also, its different to the main campaign and takes roughly 6 hours to play through. The only bad thing I found about the co op was the helicopter mission. Helicopter piloting on Battlefield has always been hit and miss; it requires a huge amount of coordination and patience, it is also unintuitive and hard to learn. I have played the entire Battlefield series, and never have I felt the need to learn the fly the chopper. I have avoided it at all times. The second multi-player mission is based entirely around the chopper and unlike the spec ops mode in Call of Duty there is no way to select roles, the only way to switch from pilot to gunner is to repeatedly fail or crash on purpose. I could imagine a lot of players giving up at this point which is a shame. I found the multi-player in Bad Company 2 more enjoyable, which had better class balance. Recon (my favorite class) feels underpowered now, they have removed mortar strike, and increased bullet drop on sniper rifles (but guns from other kits have no bullet drop even at max range which means you can make a more effective sniping class from the assault or engineer class by equipping a 6 or 8x combat scope to your rifle/SMG as well as getting a superior load-out to recon). Unlocks are earned on weapons individually instead of on kits, which adds rewards to players who stick to a favorite gun, however casual players who trade up weapons every level will never see the majority of unlocks.
Graphically BF3 is way ahead of the competition. The single player graphics are awesome. The co-op and multi-player models & textures are also very good, however the draw distance could be a bit better, but overall looks great and lag free even on big maps with 20 players.
The sound is good (not quite as good as recent Call of Duty games) and sounds great in 5.1 surround with decent bass, however, menus and loading screens are punctuated with dubstep riffs which I didn't really like.
In terms of value I would say it is roughly the same as Bad Company 2, while you have a new co-op campaign you are now forced to register an online pass, (free at release) priced at 800 Microsoft points (£4.50) which is an unwanted expense for customers borrowing it off a friend or renting the game for the weekend. The store exclusive pre-order DLC content is also a pain in the ass. It's a good deal for stores wanting to shift extra units, but bad for consumers (I ended up buying the game at £44.99 from Gamestation purely for the pre-order DLC whereas the game was £38.99 from Amazon.co.uk with an inferior unlock) who want to access all the content.
The re-playability is OK, the weapon proficiencies, ribbons and awards, and the achievement for max multi-player level will keep completionists red eyed into 2012.

Boring short campaign. Multiplayer would be good if it wasn't for the horrible community. Frostbite 2 is a great engine but it doesn't show in the console version. Horrible textures and pop-up are cover by glaring lense-flare. installing the texture pack doesn't actually help. It adds lag to singleplayer. If you enjoy shooters, it's worth a rental.

The multiplayer is by far the most fun I've ever had with an FPS. The level of detail is astounding - the scale, graphical marvels and stellar gameplay. Whether I am playing alone or with friends, this game has killed time like no other. I've owned the game since its release and have barely noticed the days of playtime that I've already put into it. If you aren't use to FPS controls, they take some getting used to, but the control-design of everything from your soldier, to both air and land vehicles, and even to the way projectiles are affected by gravity are all superb - fluent and intuitive. Minor bugs have popped up here and there, though this is almost always the case with newly released online games and luckily none remotely game breaking (some being nothing but amusing); they are being dealt with and fixed anyway. Recommended for experienced and new gamers alike, please give this one a chance. If you are in the least curious about online gaming, I beseech you to give this game a real chance and just see if you don't enjoy it. Expand

I think if you really tried hard to just make a bad game, you would end up making a much better game by accident. The multiplayer is so superb though that it kind of makes up for it. One of the best shooters to have been released so far, on par with CoD4 and CS. The single player falls short and is quite dull, but no one buys this game for the single player.

This game excels in multiplayer and has one of the best multiplayer experiences.

Vehicles are a must (only in certain gametypes for you who wine about vehicles(see below)). You can fly multiple types and sizes of attack and scout heli's, jets, tanks, jeeps, humvee's, etc. Depending on game mode they have different versions of maps ranging from tiny call of duty size maps to GTA like sized maps. Single player is ehhh, ok. The jet mission is very fun, graphics again are great. If you only play multiplayer games for the single player then you are wasting your money.

Overall solid game. Call of Duty i remember always had lag, in BF3 the servers are run by DICE and EA and you dont have lag. Unless your into lag then buy COD series. They have an online website to track your stats and compare to friends on xbox, ps3, & pc as well as mobile apps and you can make/join platoons as well.

If you want to be like everyone else and buy COD go ahead. Have fun calling in air strikes since most of you COD guys will probably have a pretty hard time jumping in a AH-1 Super Cobra or Apache, picking up your friends and flying over and being the air strike like we are doing in BF3 as we speek.

Let me get started by saying that I play both the COD series and the Battlefield Series and I am proud of what both have offered. Since this is about BF3 I will try and limit my thoughts to this game except where a comparison is valid.

BF3 is a powerful game that allows huge maps and tactical game play. You have to know that when you play this game you are better off working as a squad then just running and gunning like an arcade game. Buildings actually break apart and collapse. The campaign is slightly short on delivering based on the hype. Don't get me wrong, I like the series but I just hoped for more in the campaign considering it has its own disc for Campaign. The multiplayer has been plagued with lag and rubber banding problems since release. There have been squad issues with parties trying to play together and various other issues. This brings my score down. EA says they have fixed most of it but I have not seen a huge improvement. The quality of play once you are in the maps and playing is quite high. You have to allow for bullet drop and try to lead people with your shots. No other game does that. The class leveling and player leveling being separate is nice but can be daunting to get to the next level. Feels like an eternity. The BF3 graphics are better then COD in so many ways. The lighting, details, shading and all that goes with graphics is superb. You cannot ask for a more graphically pleasing environment. Since I have only played those two games from this genre I cannot compare the graphics to other games.

If you are looking for a FPS game this holiday season I would pick BF3 over COD. Again, don't get me wrong but this is a better choice for multiple reasons. I am sure that I will get heat from all the dedicated fan boys of each game and that is fine. Again, I play both series. I like both series. However, I will tell that MW3 fell very short for me this time. So without a doubt I would choose BF3. However, if your a player that can't play tactical and it is all about your stats and kill-death ratio, go to COD and play MW3. I am sure you are a better fit for that franchise.

I'll start on campaign, boring if I'm honest, some great levels, some great set pieces, bit too linear, but campaigns usually need to be on shooters, its no ArmA is it! Scenes like thunder run or the first time you walk onto the deck of the aircraft carrier are very "wow this looks awesome" and its moments like that in the campaign that make it look better than its rivals, it plays well and looks good, although nowhere near as good as the pc version, iv installed both the game and texture lack and while impressive its still nowhere near to the pc version, Now the multiplayer, 30fps 720p (just) looks and plays good, its a change of pace to cod adding vehicles etc, but it does little to keep you hooked in and some server issues and lag etc have made some gamers have less than good experiences online, The squad features and clan options are lacking heavilly in a game that is supposed to thrive on team play, the levels although well designed and quite big have little in the way of choke points or areas to hold down with a squad, exept the smaller levels like metro,
Levelling up takes an eternity and can get boring,
The player cap at 24 is a step foreward but surely 32-40 would have been better, mag managed a smooth 256 on mag! Overall the game is let down by slow and boring levelling system, and poor squad and clan settings, a small player count and ea been server hoggers although dedi servers are great, they don't work for xbl! The player count could have been better and they could have done a console based app for battlelog, a great looking and sounding game, but not enough to hook you in unless your already a fan from 2005! Great effort and ill look forward to the updates and map pack,

I'm sorry, but the fact of the matter is that in a conflict no air craft carrier is going to be a couple hundred yards off shore. Planes are deployed from a greater distance. In saying that, I believe that it is unfair that the opposing team can strafe your carrier and destroy planes or helos causing you to die as you spawn in them. They need to either move the planes further out and not allow enemy aircraft the ability to venture that far, or do a patch where they can't destroy planes on the deck or the ground. Sniper rifles
I don't know...if I hit a guy with a high caliber sniper rifle and he continues to run full speed, I'm having a problem with that. I don't believe three bullets to the upper body is what is needed to bring him down. Gotta do better with that. Percentages
I like the fact they let you know how much damage you did to the person that killed you, but when I see the "X" flash three times indicating a hit, him only being at 66% upsets me. I don't care what gun you're using, that is crazy.

I think the makers of BF3 did a real good job, and id recommend getting this game before MW3 any day! Expand

My score is based upon my experience with the game since release, the game is ultimately a failure, which could have been resolved in testing but it seems like they were more concerned with releasing it faster then COD.

4 out of 10. Even with a patch that solves really stupid things like blinding tactical lights (which IMO should have been and would have been addressed in testing or beta) to boosting and laggy servers. EA continually tries to reinvent the wheel, an example of this is origin, instead of just using a tried, tested and loved system (steam) as a distribution network..

Perhaps next time more attention will be out towards more than just making the visuals looks better or paying for good reviews and put toward actual testing of gameplay.

With that in mind I tried the Battlefield 3 beta. And while the beta was not perfect by any means, I knew I had found my replacement for CoD. That is an important flaw to say its better than COD, but what i really love is how people play it, there are always noobs that camp (camper knows camper does) but the fact that there are no killstreaks keeps the majority out and in the firefight, instead of hiding to get a few more kills for their killstreak like in MW3. i have never played Bf2 but i really like how BF3 feels unique in the shooter genre, the cutomizing, 4 classes, and weapons feel right not one been really overpowered e.t.c. they did not bring up the BEST game in the industry but it DEFINITLY feels rewarding once you take a break from MW3 or any other game, because it feels different and fair. It is just as addicting as COD and the weapons all feel very balanced and fair. Vehicles are a great amount of fun especially when people are working together as a team. BF contains a lot more depth in its multiplayer since it is more team based. COD mp is a lot of fun but can get frustrating with the small maps and spawn issues. Those are mainly non-factors in BF since the multiplayer allows the choosing of spawn points and larger areas. The graphics are phenomenal for the environments and weapons and vehicles. The character models imo are very weak and low resolution, especially compared to COD where I think they are very nice looking. The campaign is very weak in Battlefield which is unfortunate because the trailers made it look so great. In fact the campaign is very dull and any attempts they have at making exciting moments fall flat and are just boring. The COD campaign trumps this one delivering a very exciting, cinematic experience. Overall I'd say that if you want the best multiplayer competitive shooter this year get BF. (Install the H.D. pack or you won't want to...)

MULTIPLAYER: This year, your choice of shooter combat comes way from basically two perspectives which are akin to paintball. Without having to know much about the sport, most play the game in one of two modes: arena & scenario. Arena is like Call of Duty & Gears of War. You start in close proximity on generally small-scale maps with short engagement distances. The point is to memorize the nooks and crannies. "This person is likely to be at *this* spot *%* of the time." Its fast, its furious but unless you're playing with a clan or close group of friends, you're playing by yourself. There are other people in the game for sure! But they happen to be in the same room shooting at the same enemy. "Team," most of the time, is actually a naughty word... Battlefield 3 is like a scenario paintball game. Yes, you generally start in the same area but the multitude of ways you can move, flank, sneak, and wreak havoc erupts from there. You can go as a solo sniper to a secluded area, set up shop, and dial away noggins. You can fly/drive about the map (and doing it just right) never set a foot on land. Or you can be part of a real team. Even if you go 0-20, you could be in the top 5 without firing a shot because teamwork matters. That's what separates this game from others. In other games, a turret is taboo. Here, a turret lays down actual suppressive fire that blurs the enemies vision and even if you don't hit a single person, you rack up points for the dead men you've suppressed. SUMMARY: Don't get this game for the single-player: play an RPG. Don't get this game if you roll solo with the highest K/D ratio: get Gears or CoD. Buy this game if you want an excellent combat simulator that brings together squads the way military shooters really should. If you want to "play", play something else. Battlefield 3 is when you want to go to war.

9/10 - For excellent graphics, a robust multiplayer system, and bringing teamwork back.
    -1/10 - For lackluster single-player.

Second, the gameplay and maps are not designed for so few players. 24 works for some maps, but many feel vast and empty without the full 64 players that they enjoy on the PC. If they're going to release the game on consoles without upping the player number, then the maps need to be changed.

Other than that, it's a phenomenal game. It's a much slower pace and larger scale than Call of Duty, but these are good things if you prefer executing more refined strategies and tactics with your team. The gameplay is far more diverse, both because the maps allow full use of all the classes (snipers actually can behave like snipers), and because the scope and design of the maps encourages shifting tactics.

The overall feel of the game is fun and the epic maps are entertaining but there is just a distinct lack of satisfaction throughout the game. This is without going into the general uselessness of the planes until you have levelled them up, or the torches on everyones gun that will blind you in broad daylight if the enemy so much as looks in your general direction. I will be prepared to resubmit my opinion on this game after a few updates but until then I'm going to have to stick with the highly polished, action packed fun I get from MW3 and GoW3. By that i mean, they start have you do impossible stuff, stuff that could never happen in real life, and well this really detracts from the Battlefield style. It isn't very long at all and in my opinion isn't to good at all. it has some good aspects like the Fighter mission and the tank mission, but it doesn't give anything new or aww inspiring.

    Multiplayer-
Now onto the good stuff, the reason we Battlefield Fanboys" bought the game....Multiplayer.
The multiplayer in Battlefield 3 brings brings a lot of stuff from Battlefield 2 and BF:BC2 and brings them together. Honestly in my opinion they tried to hard to make this game a COD killer instead of just doing what they do best, again as they did in the campaign, they just made the game a bit to "modern warfare ish" the game play seems a bit smoother than BFBC2 but at the same time they took away from the "everything is destructible" that BFBC2 had. In BFBC2 by the end of a match, the entire map could be destroyed. while here in BF3 in the more urban maps, most of the buildings cant be destroyed, you can destroy walls and parts of the buildings but not the entire building. Vehicular warfare- all of the vehicles work well in this game, They brought back the jets which are very cool to fly, and the choppers have new stuff to use.
instead of blowing up right away now, most vehicles will actually be disabled first then blow up, by this i mean you can disable a tank and it cannot move, but the turret will still be active and can still shoot, or you can take out one of the 2 engines on jets and choppers, which is a very cool added aspect to the game To Sum it up, this game is very good, but could have been so much more.
I mean they did a fine job with this game, but they just Modern Warfared the game a bit to much, and the Maps just don't feel right compared to BFBC2
I would recommend this game to anyone, but if you haven't checked Battlefield Bad Company 2 yet, i would say go for that first because it is a much better game

Great game people, stop comparing it to CoD and just judge it individually. They may both be military shooters but they are different in many ways. Maybe Activision could take a leaf out of EA's books and update it's engine.

the game has a beautiful graphics frum dust to water details and most of the environment can be destroy (better than MW series) but not as much as BFBC series. gameplay still the same like MOH linear path, no branching pathway. and for the story is just so-so not that intens like MOH or MW series.

What is the deal with the descending heartbeat audio/animation after every death? That is the most annoying thing I have ever experienced in any video game ever made. The guns do not handle well, and the single player is completely broken. Who are these characters? They aren't interesting in any way. I enjoyed Bad Company 2, but this game is meaningless.

Before I review this, I am NOT a Battlefield fanboy. This is my first time playing a Battlefield title. And please don't think I hate Call of Duty. I am looking forward to buying MW3. However, don't buy BF3 for the campaign. If you buy it, get it for the multiplayer. It is one of the best online multiplayer experiences I've ever had. Camping for the whole game is hard. Vehicles are amazing. Unlocking weapon attachments is fun. Of course, there are the weapons themselves. There are four classes; Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon. Each class has exclusive weapons and gadgets. For example, only the Recon class has sniper riffles and the ability to place mobile spawn points, but the Engineer class is the only class with the ability to deploy rocket launchers and place land mines. As you level up each individual class, you unlock weapons and gadgets for that class. For example, at level 2 for the Support class you gain access to C4. Along with each class, you level up your rank. Leveling up your ranks takes time, but the rewards are worth it. With each rank, you gain a new dog tag. You also get rank-specific rewards like PDWs and camo. Now, I'll talk briefly about the vehicles. They all handle amazing, whether it's a tank or a jet or an attack helicopter. All can carry more than one person, and they can be leveled up like classes. All in all, if you're looking for a fun war experience, BF3 is the game for you. Expand

Again, a bunch of biased fanboy opinions giving the game full marks, I consider this game to have an alright storyline, but an absolutely boring multiplayer. when purchasing bf3, i was filled with excitement and optimism for a new kind of multiplayer, an enthralling campaign and an excellent co-op... i was disapointed in two of these aspects, and i can say overall that this game was not what it was made out to be... the main disapointement was a campaign that was made out to be of epic proportions... the big bang that i expected was mearly awhen purchasing bf3, i was filled with excitement and optimism for a new kind of multiplayer, an enthralling campaign and an excellent co-op... i was disapointed in two of these aspects, and i can say overall that this game was not what it was made out to be... the main disapointement was a campaign that was made out to be of epic proportions... the big bang that i expected was mearly a wimpe, with only two good msiions out of 12 that actually got my heartbeat touching 100bpm... the jet mission and the climax hit the spot, although even the climatic ending was destroyed by the same problems that affected the entire campaign, a lack of epic moments, a chore like objective system and a repetitve quicktime feature that destroyed tension... i might also add that the enemy ai are verging on brain dead, but yet i was killed more times by a rat than the ai... 2nd was the co-op, i find this a single run through with very little replay value other than weapon unlocks for online multiplayer... lastely was the one place were bf3 really hit the sweet spot, the online multiplayer... i have not got enough energy in my fingers to talk about this, as i could go on and on for hours... but all i have to say was that it is the best multiplayer game that i have ever played on the xbox 360, not only does it up the pacem graphics and detail of bc2, but it has enough firepower to blow your mind, the addition of jets seems quite pointless though, as you have to unlock its weapons to make it a firepower giant... overall i am giving bf3 an 8/10 because the campaign let the overall game down Expand

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
