The campaign is very good, I was worried it would be too short but it was not, however the only criticism is of the AI, sometime various men within the squadron don't follow or get in your way.

    I definitely recommend this game.

Finished the campaign, played the co-op and multiplayer too! Now honestly, I really don't see much difference in gameplay at all from BF2/BC. I really don't get all the people who say "OMFG BF3 is LIKE TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS VeRSIONS", please don't be a hypocrite to COD. The campaign i found while some parts of it was good, it was ultimately short and i found it to be a copy in Black Ops Campaign. Why? Same type of interrogation, then they both somehow find out where the hell the bomb/evil villain is... Seriously... don't just copy BF3. Next onto Co-op, it's really nothing special. I liked it, but once you've done it on hard, then there is really no point in doing it again, unless you really want to unlock every weapon for multiplayer. And even then all you do is grind the last mission for points... Now onto the multiplayer :) I absolutely love the ground vehicles! The flying vehicles however are alot different. When you start out on the game you CANNNOT KILL the flying vehicles. You have to unlock the engineer to a degree in order to even shoot things out of the sky without having to run to the AA guns, in that time smart pilots would have shot the crap out of you... (Engineers get a RPG/bazooka for tanks quickly so no problems there). Also having a max party of 4 (your squad) is severely limiting when you want to play with more mates. Even if you're in the same squad when you want to join, YOU WILL GET PUT ON DIFFERENT TEAMS! How the hell does that work? The servers/bugs seriously need sorting out. I'd love to put a 7.5 as thats what i really think the game is. You have to judge the whole game on everything! Not just the multiplayer which is very good. Expand

Best multiplayer shooter in the market. Period. The level of detail is brutal. You can use any type of weaponry, destroy buildings and revive your buddy. Teamwork is effective, but in the end is the most realistic military game out there.

The level of customization of each of your 4 classes is staggering, and the ability to change how you have each class set up in between every life makes it that much easier and more pleasurable to try new guns, new attachments, and new equipment combinations. The single player is all well done. Yes, it's linear and the story is somewhat cliche, but at this point, that's pretty much how all war games are at this point. Ever heard the old expression: All talk and no action? It's not quite that bad, but in their attempt to dethrone MW, I think they overdid it. For all the flaming about 'CoD is just going to be the same thing!', that was my exact feeling when I played BF3. Yes, it's pretty, but the concept and the mechanics are a further polish to Bad Company 2. I guess after all the hype I expected more. AEver heard the old expression: All talk and no action? Yes, I know it's got the Almighty Frostbite 2 Engine! (Capped for a reason) But where's the innovation from it? Yeah, you can use a flashlight and a laser. Ok...nice but not enough to make me start Occupying Infinity Ward in a smelly tent, sorry.
First off, does anyone even care about the storyline here? For that matter, anyone even KNOW what it is?...... I've heard nothing but complaints, even from fans of the game. My thought is this: If you're going to even BOTHER adding a campaign, why not at least put some effort into it?

They added Spec Ops, which was pretty fun and a good idea to add in-game content as you progress, problem is, the missions are beatable within hours of owning it and you won't have much unlocked, thus forcing you to replay the same missions over and over......and over.

The multiplayer. Well, all I can say about this is repeat what I've said above: It's a prettier version of Bad Company 2. I DO like the improvement to the light machine guns, whereby it truly does suppress the opposition and I DO like the light/laser functions, they're fun, but innovative? Hardly. Reason to act as though we just received game of the decade? Um, no.
If you liked BC2, you'll enjoy this multiplayer, that's about the best I can offer there.

It's not that it's BAD (thus my 6.5), it's just that it was sold to us as not only the new king of the throne, but as if it was going to blow us out of the water, which is not true by any measure. Add to that the fact that EA is horrific for online play to begin with (the first week of release, you couldn't complete a game for anything, and that is when you actually were able to join one.).

The BF fanboys want this to be as good as MW and it simply isn't. And I'm saying that having played both for several years now.

Sold on Amazon for forty bucks a week and a half after I picked it up. Don't believe the hype.

But seeing the trailers to bf3, I thought I would give it a try and see if it could relight the flame, and boy did it ever! Graphics: sublime. Sound: probably the most realistic I have ever heard in a game. Gameplay: Tough for the uninitiated, but very satisfying. Being rusty with FPS games, I usually have a negative score at the end of the round and die a lot. But here's the thing: I don't care because I'm still having fun. The fact that running and gunning is suicidal in this game makes you play smarter and basically feel more like an actual soldier. I only have two complaints: Firstly, the servers are often broken and (at least for me) it is not uncommon for the game to crash when the level changes. Secondly, in big games it can be really tough to get a vehicle, particularly jets/helicopters. This means that for the average pub player it is very hard to have opportunities to practice and improve your skills in flying. I still haven't been able to kill anything with a jet, especially since you only have bullets to fire until you earn better weaponry. There really should be a sandbox map where one can just fly around for practice.... if this actually exists, can someone direct me to it! :P

There is nothing wrong with the campaign other than its short length, but honestly what else is to be expected from an FPS these days. And who buys a game like this for it's campaign anyway? If you want a challenge though, just play it in hard - it will take you about double the time to finish it.

Huge maps. A little laggy at times, but nowhere near as bad as MW3. JUST the simple fact that the game looks the way it does given the SHEER SIZE of these maps its amazing. THE framerate isnt 60 but its a very very SMOOTH 30. At times i feel that its even higher but um not sure. The LIGHTING is BEAUTIFUL. Ive never seen lighting in a game that even comes close to this game. THe shadowing is also BEAUTIFUL. GRAPHICS this game gets a 10 out of 10. Just for the sheer size of the maps and the way the game looks it deserves it. OFF TO SOUND . Heres another area where the game is unmatched. COD series you have a long way to go to catch up . The sound in this game is the best ive ever heard. BC2 and Killzone series take 2nd place. This game sounds perfect. From the guns to the sound of the buildings ruble coming down to the explosions nothing comes close. The sound gets a 10 out of 10.

First of all, I see people whining about it being developed for PC first and that the graphics are not as good on console. Well duh...It's not like they perilously didn't make the graphics better the console CAN'T HANDLE IT DUE TO HARDWARE LIMITATIONS. So that is a moot point. Second stop trolling here cod fanboys, your jealous that MW3, um MW2 is no good.

Awesome all around. Graphics, sound, maps, vehicles, etc. You must actually use some strategy, if you try to run and gun, you're dead. By far the most realistic war game I've seen. The 12 yr olds will not like this one, but if you're an adult gamer this is your game.

But hey, they overwhelmingly make up for it with the unbelievable game play.

Get a good squad and a good team on a match and your in for a treat! If your unsure about battlefield just give it a try! Hate spawn killers in TD, even though I am guilty of it sometimes. But what makes this game great is you can camp if you want, you can go guns a blazing, it depends on your ability to work with your teammates. It is very hard to run and gun by yourself, but if you have a couple of solid teammates you can run around the map and pick off the campers. Or work together as a team setting up camp and destroy the competition. I love the team element of the game even though I hardly ever wear a headset. The shooting controls are harder than MW and I like that. Game requires skill and team work. I understand why people like MW and I don't begrudge them, I've played it for many hours, but BF3 is a significant upgrade to BC2 whereas MW3 should be a DLC for MW2. Not to mention the newer maps are even smaller. This game does have some glitchy graphics on XBOX (even with the install) and sometimes matchmaker creates some oddly uneven games but overall I play a little almost every day and LOVE it! Expand

It showed me varied locales, times of day, vehicles, etc. It was awesome! Then, there is multiplayer. It is just a blast. Me and three buddies have become addicted to the multiplayer side of things. The unlock system may not be as deep as the MW system, but it is engaging nonetheless. I'd rather focus on the game rather than needing "24 more kills to unlock X". Overall, this game rocks. The visuals, sound, and game play create a epic experience every time you start a match! I think that everyone should try it for 2 or three hours and after you get your barrings and understand that this is not a arcade shooter like COD they'll fall in love with the options that the classes, vehicles, and destructible environment create! Just as COD had epic set pieces in their single player Battlefield 3 allows you to create those epic moment every match actually behind the seat! I then tried the bad company 2 beta and thought,ok this might be good.I purchased it on release day and for the last year I've enjoyed many sessions going between Black ops and bad company 2 equally.

When Battlefield 3 came out I couldn't wait to get stuck in,and was grateful that it wasn't the same release date as MW3 so I could hammer it's multiplayer before MW3's release date.
The first thing that I noticed when going online was the awesome map design.Like the Caspian border for example is absolutely epic, with all the trees moving in the wind, the excellent lighting effects and also the streams running through the forest areas.
You jump in a tank at the beginning and all you're team mates are along side in jeeps, humvees, apaches and hornets fly overhead creating an awesome atmosphere.
The campaign mode is pretty good but I tend to think of it as kind of a training mode to prepare new players for the multiplayer.
The graphics are a slight step above bad company 2 which was a very pretty game and it doesn't disappoint.
For the first week of multiplayer the servers went down which was frustrating but now it works flawlessly online and I have never felt any lag on this game because of the dedicated servers.
All of the vehicles feel just right and are very satisfying to use, especially when you try taking control of the skies.
Battlefield encourages teamwork and you are rewarded xp for supplying teammates with health, ammo, repairs or reviving them. When your teammates work together to capture an objective and look after each other this is one of gamings greatest moments and I already have so many funny, embarrassing moments on this game and look forward to many more.

The only negatives I can speak of are the interior of the buildings could be more detailed. The aforementioned servers going down on the first few days.
Also sometimes when running through rubble after a building has collapsed you can get caught up on bits of scenery.

Well that's my verdict and my postman has just popped Skyrim through the door,so it's gonna be a long weekend.

And the reviews that say this is the best multiplayer game to date are right on. I'd say the only game that is comparable is Left 4 Dead. This game has changed warfare games for good.

After playing this for countless hours I do have some criticisms. The soldier skins. They're good, but extremely repetitive. It's kind of funny seeing three of the same soldiers side by side, twins and triplets everywhere. The unlocks. Some are great. Some don't work properly (dog tags). Some are repetitive. There should have been more unlocks. By the time you get to colonel there is really nothing new, and only very lengthy spans between dog tags are left. Something to be learned from mw2 would be the addictive unlocks.

There's also no way to communicate outside of your squad. And you should be able to communicate with the other team between matches. There is a bit of an issue of repeating maps before completing a full cycle. And with this, teams are switched up or you can be thrown into an entirely random game which all of a sudden has opposing strategy and unfamiliar teammates.

These are very minor flaws however and won't stop me from putting in hundreds of hours.

The air vehicles are a tad bit tricky at first even for BF veterans, but changing the button layout helps immensely. the gameplay does not feel as smooth and polished as a CoD game but that is some of its appeal. The sound is PHENOMENAL to say the least; realistic weapon/vehicle sounds, ambient noise, and dialogue are a delight. When played through a decent 7.1 or 7.2 home theatre system, the audio is compelling. It will make you want to perfect every detail in your HT. i have calibrated my speakers and receiver around 6 times, since buying the game, just to see if i can squeeze out a minuscule improvement. after some glitches are patched and DLC becomes available, this game will be a force to be reckoned with. currently, it is the multiplayer yang to MW3's campaign ying. I absolutely love the multiplayer of Battlefield 3. I was skeptical at first but once you manage to forget Call of Duty and stop comparing everything, you are gonna have the ride of your life with this game. Graphically, this is the game that screams for a next-gen, but who cares? This is what we get and now we should enjoy and play the hell out of it. Do yourself a favor a get a copy of BF3.

It's really addictive and unlike the cod games which is just run and shoot people, in Battlefield 3, you need to be tactical and be a responsible player in order to succeed. The best one to try on is the "Conquest Mode" coz it's fun and gives u more EXP. The other good thing that I like about this game is that almost 90% of the bugs and glitches on the BETA has been fixed and the remaining 10% is just some minor glitch which can be ignored like some minor running issues and other small stuff.. overall this game deserves a 9.5 but I'm rounding it up to 10. "Minor glitches and server issues (which can be fixed) doesn't stop this game from being amazing, thanks to it's fun and competitive multiplayer which will keep you busy for a long time until another battlefield game or even better shooting game comes out. For any gamer who is still on the fence about this game, i highly reccomend you give it a chance. Sure the campaign is nothing special but thats not what battlefield is about. The visuals and graphics arent mind bogling but after installing the HD content, this game looks great all around. The matchmaking is very good, allowing you to get into a game in seconds or you can filter the search to a specific game mode and map. Lets not forget this game has dedicated servers, something Call of Duty always lacked. I have spent about 40 hours on multiplayer and literally only 2 games ive been in had noticable lag. Could have been my internet connection though.

There is so much to unlock in BF3, you choose between four classes, those of which are assault, engineer, support, and recon. Each have their own set of weapons and gadgets. Each weaopon is also HIGHLY customizable. Their is literlay like 10 different scope and sights available for your gun. Not to mention suppressors, shotgun attachments, flash supprersors, grips, you name it.

I love the maps in this game, they range from big to huge. But dont let this turn you away, the game is still fast paced because everyone tends to center around the objective. Covering ground is a breeze with the different vehicles you can use. These range from jeeps, tanks, helicopters, and jets. Yup you can fly jets in this game, albiet the air vehicles can be difficult to drive at first, but after a few embarrasing crashes you'll get the hang of it.  That being said this game is so fun with all these vehicles at your disposal, its such a different experience than Call of Duty ever gave me. Remeber in blackops where you had to get an 11 kilstreak to get a chopper gunner? Well say goodbye to that cuz here you can just hop in an attack heli and rain hell on the enemy team. Dont worry about balance issues since any vehicle can be brought down by any team with half a brain.

As long as Dice continues to support this game, I can see myself playing for the next two years easy. Now excuse me while I go base jumping off a cliff deep into enemy territory :P

Enough I think someone got a divorce over it." True the game isn't perfect. For example, NPC's being knife happy, or pulling a Call of Duty Commando lunge. Also I have had glitching like registering my jet during a lag where I"m pulling up, but due to the lag and glitch, I crash. Also the lame fact that a Street lamp makes a jet explode and the lamp stays standing.

I know several players have had complaints, several in vain. I.e. All my teammates are playing as snipers. Or the super bright tactical light. I see the tac light that bright because it's suppose to make it hard to see. And the sniper deal, that's just kids being kids and not using strategy. One of my friends complained how a person could destroy a tank with a missile. I don't get the complaint. I honestly don't.

For the credit on NPC's I love how I was trying to out shoot the NPC's. Not prevent being swarmed but the somehow endless killing spree of wiping out a whole village like Call of Duty. The only thins I would change are that NPC's don't have that stupid knife lunge. On the customization page on the main menu, you could filter out weapons you don't have. Also have more co-op missions. I felt the need for more besides 6 short missions with a friend. There are glitches to fix, which will receive attention in time.

From flying jets or driving tanks is a great experience. The new engine really shows how beautiful a game can look. The lightning is probably the best I've seen and the sounds of the weapons has no equal. Big maps where at anytime can lead to a firefight. It doesn't take 5 minutes to run to a firefight as mentioned by a MW3 developer. You can spawn on your teammates as long as they are alive or if not ride a vehicle to your destination. Matches can play out differently anytime. You can have one game where you used a building to dominate but when you play that map again that building may collapse on you. No place is safe for campers. Camper in a building blow the wall up or take the building down. Like any game that comes out there are bugs but nothing to return the game about. This game has such a strong emphasis on team play and when you really start to understand how each class operates and how each piece of equipment can really help your team if you work together, you begin to understand how deep this game can be if people learn their roles and work together as a squad. The maps are big, but there are usually just enough vehicles around to get you to your destination quickly. In this game you not only level up your rank, but you also level up your individual class based on how much you use it. THe same with weapons. Nearly every weapon has close to 18-19 different attachments. How many attachments you can use at once depends on the gun, but typically 3 attachments can be equipped at once. I can't say enough about how much fun this game can be if you play with friends and work together as a squad. Each match offers so many different ways to obtain victory, that it really doesn't get old. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy team & objective based gameplay. You don't have to be an expert at getting killstreaks and having a high K/D ratio to win games. You can score a lot buy supporting your squad and completing objectives. This game is for people who enjoy team games. Expand

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
