Sorry I don't think so, Modern Warfare step down, Battlefield 3 is where the real challenge lies and what with the Back to Karkland, Close Quarters and Armoured Kill packs promising more action, newer planes, maps, tanks and guns then you have seriously got to think that Modern Warfare's dominance is at an end or at lease waning.

I have bought every cod game since cod4 and they have all been hit or miss for me. MW3 was a big let down for me and I sold it on craigslist in a few days not knowing what to replace it with. The class creation system is simple--which is one of the biggest problems with cod for me--- no piles of killstreaks to chose between and stacks of perks to overcomplicate things. Honestly, the fact that I can go through a game and not get killed by some bs killstreak is reason enough to try this game. In short, this game has completely overshadowed cod for me. Unless if black ops 2 really blows the competition out of the water, I probably wont even try that series for awhile. BF3 is just more entertaining to me. If I want fast-paced combat, I can hop into tdm which is very similar to cod; or if I want some substance to my game I can play rush or conquest for some nice vehicle variety. Expand

Multiplayer on the other hand is among the best gaming has to offer. It has the perfect combination of addictiveness and depth, boasting a high level of customization, well-balanced classes and excellent maps. Co-op feels more akin to the campaign and pales in comparison to the multiplayer. The only thing I can recommend about Battlefield 3 is its multiplayer and if its wasn't as great as it is, this game would have been one of the biggest letdowns of this generation. Expand

Now, to be fair, this rating should be an 8.7, not a 9. It just rounds up like that. This game is a lot of fun, you just need to get used to the idea of destructable environments. I barely touched the campaign until my internet connection went out for a few days. After I finished the campaign, I vowed I would never play it again unless it was for achievements. Multiplayer can be frustrating at times, what with vehicles that kill you before you even have time to grab a grenade, or having your team getting stuck in a spawntrap, but the overall experience is quite fun. Enjoyable game. Way better than call of duty. Instead of run and shoot, you actually have to traverse the land, and be carefull. Great graphics, and animations. Has balancing issues, and can rage easy, but there is soooo much content in the multiplayer. Single player is fairly good as well.

Battlefield 3 is a solid multiplayer FPS. The single player campaign is fairly unoriginal, but has some bright spots on certain missions, such as the one where you are a co-pilot in a jet or a crew member of a tank. The big problem I have however, is how difficult it is to connect to a match as a group. I regularly game with 3 other guys, and almost every time we search for a match or join a server, we get placed on opposite teams. Sometimes, half of us don't even make it to the game because the server only had room for some of us. Most other online FPSes find you a game based around your party, but in BF3 they break up your party to put you in a game. Pretty lame. Expand

Battlefield 3 does not have anything new to offer in single player that games like Call of Duty have not already touched on. The story is simple, and by not going into any detail about it I can assure you that it is not one of this games most powerful feats. The shooting mechanics are simple but the game sure does give a great immersion effect to make the player feel like he/she is actually aware of what is going on. For example, whenever a bullet or rocket smashes into the cover 3 inches away from you, or when a barrage of bullets come flying towards you but just barely manage to miss you, there is a suppression effect. The screen begins to blur up based on the intensity, movements from your players joints become slightly hindered, ears begin to deafen based on the power and area of explosions, and a dramatic feeling of awesomeness begins to pump through your veins making you love every minute of it. Now onto everything else that matters...

As far i am concerned, this knocks any cod game out cold as everything just works so much better and now that private& totally customisable servers are available, the game has received a fresh breath of life. Dice listened to the fans and gave them what they wanted (a rarity these days) and with new content planned at regular intervals between june 2012 & march 2013, this behemoth game can only get bigger and better, even adding battlefield premium (akin to cod:elite but more powerful). This game will continue to go from strength to strength, whilst cod fans will have to rely on their yearly november rehash / rerelease of the same game again and again

The graphics are excellent, but your experience may or may not be plagued by lag(Mine was 25% of the time). The maps are very unique and each one is very large, but because it is a console game, the maximum amount of players allowed in each game is 24. The small amount of players per game may give you the feeling that you are wandering aimlessly around a massive map looking for the opposing team. The vehicles offer an experience that Modern Warfare 3 cannot match, along with destructible environments that adds a sense of realism to the game. The controls and movement are decent but Modern Warfare 3 is better. Personally, I had trouble joining matches with my friends online which would irritate me greatly, leaving me to reset my console constantly until joining their squad was successful, but with future updates, this problem may not occur as much with me anymore. The deep customization for primary and secondary guns and vehicle upgrades will keep you occupied for a long time. Compared to Modern Warfare 3, BF3 wins, offering a more teamwork-oriented game play. The amount of EXP gained is not based on the amount kills you get like Modern Warfare 3, it's based on what your personal actions are, ranging from healing teammates with the Medic class, to repairing friendly vehicles with the Engineer class. If you want a game that is fun and rewarding to play with friends, play Battlefield 3. Expand

Battlefield boost exceptionally well Multiplayer action letting you play the role of ground forces and the ability to control vehicles to help aid in tactical objective game play in such modes as Conquest and Rush. While all I can say good things for the multiplayer section, the single player is a completely different story. The storyline presented was fairly believable and good enough to keep playing through to see it end, however the plot lines get ridiculous at times and the enemies are cheap, often killing you with a couple of shots in even the easiest of difficulties. The story has a good solid background but failed to delivered on it and leave players unsatisfied with the results. You play through several levels that seems vibrants and large yet there isn't a sense of exploring the open area since there isn't any special items or secret packages to collect it makes the scenery just there to look at. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Am I the only one that played the singleplayer campaign? The story was the worst and most insulting narrative I've seen in a long time. First, it's in large part a rip off of COD:MW (which I'm not saying is a great or better game). They use the same disjointed jumping from character to character. Second, the vehicle sequences were terrible. You spend an entire sequence not flying a jet or not driving a tank. These on rail portions are terrible, not exciting, and tedious. Third, what CO would start a war with Russian in a third party country? That did happen, right? American soldiers attacked a superior Russian force. That's not just bad tactics, it's plain dumb. Forth, the quicktime events were sloppy and thrown in. Fifth, the story is two hours long. Sure, that's a movie, but I bought a videogame that cost 6 times a movie, so I want 6 times the entertainment. Finally, and most absurdly insulting: my character, an American soldier, murders his CO and fellow American soldier to help some Russian guy that he just met and could have been shooting at him minutes ago. Even if your CO is an *** and an idiot, you protect your own. I tried standing there, refusing to fire, and the mission failed. That's ***. I'm sorry, for that the game loses all marks for singleplayer. Multiplayer was fine if not crowded and at times confusing. Expand

There have always been large maps and small maps, but now it seems like large maps are all that remain, and the game has a huge emphasis on vehicle warfare to the point where almost no class has any chance against vehicles. In my opinion they were well balanced in Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2, but with the addition of even more upgrades to them, they have become the be-all end-all in combat.

The single player is bland, and feels remarkably similar to the single play of Call of Duty: Black Ops, simply brought into Modern Day. It's fine while it lasts, but it feels like the campaign overall goes nowhere, and even though the stakes are high, they never really feel that way. Really, it's just a series of walking down corridors and shooting faceless foes with whatever gun they stick you with.

The co-op is a fun distraction, but like the single player, it doesn't last. A player with a friend can probably beat them all on the hardest difficulty in a day, or maybe two, and get everything it has to offer.

Battlefield 3 is fun, but it still feels like DICE has a lot of work to do regarding balancing and features. At this point in time it seems like they're in a mad rush to compete with Call of Duty, rather than make their own, truly original and fresh game.

Personally I'm forever searching for a multi-faceted experience, one which is rich and engaging. The highlights of the last couple of years have been Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption for me. Never got into a multiplayer for more than an hour before, although I should maybe have given them more time. The single player is as bad as the reviews state. It feels poorly executed, enemies pile into scenarios in an unconvincing way, the engine doesn't suit it and it just feels wrong. That, along with the cheap deaths, makes it frankly irritating.
Having being hyped by friends about the multiplayer, young and old, with different expectations, that fact that a cross section of people I knew were raving about this piqued my interest. The multiplayer is amazing. The openness of some maps, close quarters of others, animation, control feel and every other aspect is spot on. Sometimes, when concentrating on individual aspects, reviews can miss the overall vibe and feel of a game, the most improtant aspect. This one is superb, it nails it and drags you right in. I'm forever chasing the next attachment or ribbon, examining tactics, shouting at the TV, punching the air. As someone who thought I was a single player only, tempted to cancel my xbox live gold, this has fully converted me. The sheer depth and addtive quality is really immersive. Hope this helps. Has to be a 9 as a solid SP would have surely been possible - but 10 for the only aspect most will touch....

So where does the campaign go then? Well it is the classic hunt for nukes before time comes out and get through the sub plots as they unfold. The story is bad, the acting, the feel, the battling and support is really, really good. Soldiers react the way you want them to, and the enemy dies the way they would in real life. Not the duct tape enemies like in the Call of Duty series but legitimately difficult enemies that will kill you with melee if you stray too close. This helps with the hyper-realism that the game tries to accomplish and indeed does. The frostbite 2 engine developed by Dice raises the bar for graphics exponentially. The console version looks amazing but the PC version is beyond comparison. Words cannot describe the complexity of even the hand models in the PC version, if you have the means then that is the version to buy. Back to the campaign; the best part about it is not the way enemies die, the story, r even the look of the game but your companions and how they react and interact with you and the environment. This is not a lone wolf shooter; it is very much based on coordination with large and overwhelming forces. You feel like something larger than yourself, which is a forgone concept in modern shooters and is greatly refreshing in Battlefield 3. But people donâ Expand

Amazing destruction and team work. The only reason i didnt give this a 10 was because of the team deatchmatch mode, idk if the spawn's are just messed up or it was supposed to be like that, because the team deatchmatch feels like cod, people spawn everywhere, forcing you to keep on moving and use cheap tactics to kill people. If you want to survive you have to use bs like rpg's. I am forced to pull out my pistol often in tdm because of not having enough time to reload and have also had to dropshot quite a lot. I have bought this game to play tactically, but lets just say I dont want to play any other mode and have to play tdm why do I have to play it like cod? I think a good way to solve this problem would be to have 2 deployment areas like in other modes, that would fix the problems. Another problem I have is that certain guns are extremely overpowered and have no recoil (famas and F-2000). Maybe they made tdm like this to attract cod fans idk. Another thing I noticed is that why is there no option to quit to multiplayer menu in pre game lobbies? What multiplayer game does not have this option? This is fine for pc when you can just alt tab, but on consoles you either are forced to wait till the match starts or you have quit to dashboard, why could they not have implemented this basic feature that every multiplayer game has? Did they forget about it or something? Also why cant they just patch it now? They seem to release massive patches but cant they just code something to leave? Amazing game but I hope DICE have learned some lessons from this game which they can use to make the next game better. Expand

No, this is not the best FPS ever but no, this is neither the worst. The game is actually decent. Multiplayer is excellent at the best. It's hard to describe the positive sides of the multiplayer. All I can say that when you can form a good four-man-squad you'll get a ton of fun. Vehicles are lovely as always- Negative side is easier. Some of the maps are boring and at least one of the is just bad. Operation Metro map is something I despise. It's a long pipe and it doesn't fit in the game. The menus are complicated but most of all, dying is annoying. Yes, I understand that dying is part of the game and that's not really what I'm aiming for. The point is that when you die you have to watch almost forever that kill cam(word I learned from CoD omg). It's not even a killcam as it doesn't show the kill. It just shows the killer running around the map. The time you're waiting for respawning could've been used for changing kits and weapons. Oh and you still can't leave the server between rounds.

Singleplayer and co-op. I probably shouldn't talk about them as Battlefield series have always been a multiplayer franchise. But because they're part of the game, they're part of the review. Let's just say that the campaign is just well dry. There's really nothing to grip. I don't know if the player is supposed to care about the characters but at least I didn't. The campaign consists of series of random missions and honestly, sometimes I didn't even understand how they were part of the game. It's like DICE tried to squeeze everything into the campaign. Though I admit that the jet mission was kinda cool even though it was pointless. Co-Op wasn't that interesting either. Haven't been able to complete it actually since my buddy got tired of it too. Good thing is that you can play co-op with random people.

All in all, Battlefield 3 is a decent game. It's nothing extraordinary but a Battlefield fan should definitely at least give it a try.

I like the multiplayer, it is nearly perfect, it is completely refined, and has a lot of choice on how to implement strategy. My only real complaint is the jets. They are completely unfair. First of all its like impossible to get kills with the main guns, and that's the only way to get the way's to defend yourself with IR flares. And if the enemy has missiles, well then your screwed if your a vehicle, because there's no way to kill a jet, especially if they have IR flares. So I think Jets were a mistake.

You can play a variety of different missions from someone flying a helicopter to your standard reach 'Checkpoint A' kind of modes, it's a nice little addition but will grow to get quite boring at times, however if you need some skills that need improving then the coop is a good place to start. The main part of the game is from the multiplayer which is a blast! I played days upon days of the multiplayer and is still not that tiring and not at all tedious. Each match is different every time you play and each weapon feels unique unlike MW3 (I WILL NOT BE COMPARING THE 2). You need to get the DLC (Back to Karkand) to experience Battlefield 3 to it's full potential as the maps are better than the ones on the disc, however the maps on the disc are still varied and have different outcomes everytime you play. The vehicles feel just like any Battlefield game, the tanks are more like Bad Company 2 but that's still not bad considering the tanks in Bad Company 2 were perfect in my opinion and in Battlefield 3 that's no different. The jets are easy to fly but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you're new to flying then it's easy to pick up although you have to unlock the missiles etc. The levelling system is pretty bare bones, it goes like this; you get points by doing the objectives, getting kills or assisting in some way; that then goes towards your rank, get enough points you rank up and giving the things you unlocked for that level. It's not a bad thing but I wish it was more in depth than it is at the moment. The verdict: The multiplayer saves it from being worse than MW3 (Not comparing) and is a true sequel to Battlefield 2; prepare yourselves Battlefield fans, you don't want to miss this. Expand

Having been an avid COD player and never having picked up a BF game ever, i went for BF3 based on the opinion and recommendations of friends. They led me right. BF3 is the best FPS out there right now. I cannot fault it, love it to pieces and it is far better than MW3 in my opinion,

This is an honest review of Battlefield 3, as unbiased as possible.
As it is often compared to Modern Warfare 3, I will also do a brief comparison, but I will keep it as unbiased as possible, yet again.

As it is often compared to Modern Warfare 3, I will also do a brief comparison, but I will keep it as unbiased as possible, yet again.
First off, I have played a few games of each game mode in multiplayer. Conquest and Team Deathmatch stand out to me the most. Multiplayer is just fun, as long as you have a team of friends by your side and you are communicating with them. However, one of the issues is that I have not encountered a single person with their microphone on outside of my friends list.
For a game that is based on teamwork, that is an issue.
I will now dissect the game into individual categories:

    **Graphics**
Best on the market right now, out of any FPS, ever. Contrary to what many PC folks will tell you, the 360 version still looks fantastic and with amazing detail, provided you installed the texture pack. I would occasionally just stop and savor the lighting effects and reflections and things like that. Even the weather effects are top-notch, bringing you right into the game.
    GRAPHICS-5/5

    **Audio**
Yet again, the absolute best sound design you will get anywhere. With Wartapes or Hi-Fi setting on, you can hear every tiny little detail, such as rain pouring off a roof or an RPG whiz past you and even trees swaying in the wind. Plus, I just like the soundtrack anyway.
    AUDIO-5/5

    **Campaign**
For me, I absolutely loved the campaign because it reminded me a lot of a Hollywood-style explosion-fest that is just breathtaking with amazing voice acting, plot, and immersion. Speaking of immersion, this nearly had me thinking I was actually in Tehran in a hostile city at dusk, I could absolutely believe the environment DICE created. But, the AI wasn't a whole lot of fun to fight and the real meat of it was the quicktime events, which were executed flawlessly. I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign, although short, but I can tell most others won't because my tastes are very unusual.
    My rating of the campaign-4/5
    Everyone else-probably around a 3/5

    **Multiplayer**
Here is the real deal, what Battlefield really is. And it delivers. It is impossible to describe, the feeling of sprinting through a war zone, with jets gunning for you and the pings and cracks of bullets hitting the ground behind you, leaping over obstacles acrobatically, while rockets fly past you and your teammates are covering you just long enough to get into the nearest building, only to have it collapse and the desperate run to get out of the way. Almost everything about the multiplayer is top-notch, and it is an insane amount of fun most of the time but it can get frustrating when your team sucks and will not play the objective. MULTIPLAYER-4/5

The long-awaited comparison with the other major FPS of the year: how it stacks up against CoD.
There isn't exactly another way to say it, nearly everything in Battlefield is just a step up from my previous go-to franchise, it is just a higher quality game in most categories. I own a +6.08 K/D in MW3, and a .78 K/D in Battlefield 3, but somehow I still prefer Battlefield because the experience is just...epic. Sound and graphics are YEARS ahead of MW3 and the maps are filled with detail and replayability, compared to the only map I somewhat liked in MW3, Resistance.
(Keep in mind, this was my first Battlefield and I have been playing CoD since Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.)

I went into this without bias, and challenged each game to impress me more than the other. My definition of a good game was completely shattered by Battlefield.
If games were bought because of quality instead of hype, the top 3 sales list of games would be (in my opinion)
    1. Halo Reach
    2. Minecraft
    3. Battlefield 3
(I have not played Skyrim as of this review.)
There are my honest thoughts, and I expect most people to have differing opinions of my review. That is perfectly fine, because this was just how I perceived the game.

That being said you must take into account the fact that the Xbox version is a converted version from the PC. This game series was not meant for the consoles and so there will be flaws here and there that mods will not be able to fix. Appreciate the game for what it is and enjoy it to the fullest. Quick match still doesn't work, and when I do get a game on multiplayer it's laggy and then disconnects. The single player campaign was in fact very good. I really liked the story, and

This is the first Battfield game is have ever played and I am very impressed considering I come from a halo/cod gaming Backround. I do like the variety of vehicles in this game, it somewhat makes up for the large maps, but some are smaller and have more action and those are the ones I play on like operation metro, when Im in for some jets or tanking I'll go with caspian border or another large map. Another downfall is, there is literally only 2 game modes (Conquest and rush) compared to mw3's like 20. Which in turn leads to the game eventually getting boring and not fun to play. I honestly think this game deserves a 7 and while it can be fun at times, it lacks the action of mw3. I think mw3 is slightly better IMO, maybe because the fast paced action just suits me better or I have just been a more of a cod guy than a BF. My brother and I loved to play MW3 multiplayer together, but we can't play it on BF3. In addition, the multiplayer requires an online pass. While I can understand the logic behind it, I still dislike it. On the flip side, though, BF3 has the ability to edit classes in-game, which MW3 lacks.

The most annoying thing in BF3 mp is the helicopters. It seems like the only helicopter pilots who know how to pilot helicopters are those on the enemy team. On my team, however, nobody knows how to and everyone ends up crashing immediately. The heli controls could be a bit easier. Maybe like the Falcon from Halo: Reach. But that's just an example of the realism, which I find to be a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, the realism is done to an impressive detail. On the other hand, camping is much easier if your enemy dies in half a second. There's a reason I hated MW3's hardcore mode.

The assassinations seem lifted from Halo: Reach, but this is the first bf game I've ever played, and it's entirely possible it was the other way around.

The graphics in MW3 put a lot of detail into the weapons. Just wanted to point that out. The BF3 graphics put less emphasis on weapons, and much more into (amazing) scenery.

I would also like to say that I love the spotting.

On the whole, I think that both BF3 and MW3 have their strengths and weaknesses, but given a choice, I would (being a true fanboy of the series) pick Halo: Reach.

This game is not abstinent of flaws after setting aside the online passcode, however:

-When facing the sun, an almost blinding hexagon covers a good third of your screen.
-When respawning, you stare at a black screen for .5 seconds despite actually have already spawned (this is evident, because when looking at the black screen you can move your character around).
-The range of a gun is determined by the scope rather than by the gun itself.
-People look like the environment from far away.
    -The minimap can get cluttered.
-The screen goes blurry when an explosion occurs near you, despite no damage being taken.

Please keep in mind the campaign was an afterthought in this game. The Battlefield series never -HAD- campaigns until Bad Company One, and DICE only added them to give the series extra value (ie, no one would pay 60$ for a console game if it was strictly multiplayer).

The Frostbite 2 engine lends itself for beautiful graphics, awesome physics and intense gameplay; whereas Call of Duty has been using the same engine since CoD4, and as such there is limited things that Infinity Ward can hope to accomplish.

The class gameplay of Battlefield is a staple and illustrious facet of the series. Having the assault, medic, engineer and recon classes makes it virtually mandatory for a team to work together to win, rather than playing a round as a lone-wolf doing as you please like in other FPS'. If you do not work together, you will lose. PERIOD.

In conclusion, Battlefield 3 has some definite flaws and is definitely not the best installment in the series. However, compared to other multiplayer FPS released this year, it is probably the most versatile and best.

In conversation between the publisher of Battlefield 3, EA, and the publisher for COD, Activision, EA rammed it down Activision's throat that Battlefield 3 was going to be in every way superior to MW3, and they made nothing but a huge deal about that. I without a doubt can say that Battlefield 3 is NOT superior to MW3. This is not my opinion, this is the honest truth, and I will tell you how:
Starting with the campaign. Without spoiling any of the story I can safely say that the storyline is nearly exactly the same as COD: Black Ops. The actual missions of the game are recollections of the protagonist who is being interrogated, and revolves around stopping some sort of terror like attack on the United States but instead of being a biological weapon in Black Ops, its a nuke. On top of that, the game play of the campaign mode is extremely similar to COD, but with one giant drawback: In COD, you are essentially a "tank." You can take massive damage without dying, even on the hardest difficulty, because of the large scale, epic feeling of the games. Because of the realist Battlefield goes for, you die very quickly. There will be times when you try to play a level and you will die repeatedly due to stray bullets and such. Even on the easier difficulties, there will be times when the game is unforgivably difficult. Moving on to the co-op of the game. All I really have to say about this is its COD:MW3 Spec. ops but entirely co-op. It was tacked on because MW3 had it. End of story.
Now while these points do hurt Battlefield, DICE should be congratulated on their multiplayer. As with prior Battlefield multiplayer, the maps are big, and enjoyable, and while they are not exactly catering to the casual audience due to the learning curve of the game, if the individual is willing to put the time in they will enjoy it a lot more. Because EA's comments I can't give Battlefield 3 higher then a 6. At its core, Battlefield 3 is a multiplayer game. There will not be anyone who jumps at this game for the campaign, that's a fact. The question is, is the multiplayer, with a tacked on campaign, and co-op good enough to warrant a $60 price tag? Nope. In no way does it warrant that price. Being a long time fan of Battlefield's multiplayer I wish I could give this game a 7 at least, but because of EA's big mouth, and their false promises I have to lower my score. A 6 is the best it gets when all I get is good multiplayer, tacked on extras to say they have it when MW3 has it, and the smack talk to Activision.

I went into the game with a positive outlook, as a fan of the MW series I decided to try out this game because of how popular it was... in short, the single player is severely lacking... nukes? really... I thought this was Battlefield not MW1... as the Game that was supposedly going to dethrone Call of Duty, this game falls short by a by a long shot... EA I know you can do better than this... in terms of story line, save the $60 for something else you won't find it here, in fact use the money to buy Call of Duty MW1, it plays better and the story actually makes sense to the player. This is one of the most disappointing games of all time for me. Not just did I anticipate this game more than Skyrim, but I was so excited for the three months before release I could barely take it! When I got the beta, I realized that it was a lot like call of duty, but ignored that fact as operation metro was the only game mode without vehicles. Then I got the game, and the first few games of multiplayer didn't spark any kind of recognition of one of the first fps series I have ever played. Then I went to singleplayer, which in it's own way, is sad. The quick time events and fast paced action sequences show that dice tried to copy call of duty, even though they claimed not to think about what their competitors were doing. The singleplayer went too fast, althought it was quite fun. This game is full of glitches though, which weren't a problem, but were annoying enough.

Then there was co-op. This sucked, although that's partly my fault. Every game I joined paired me up with an idiot who either doesn't know how to fly a helicopter, or is just not bothering to help in any way. I eventually made it past fire from the sky by flying the helicopter myself and being aggressive without crashing the damned thing. I haven't even finished co-op because I can't figure out the silenced sniper mission, which I hate because they weren't at all clear on what the hell I am supposed to do in this mission. If co-op weren't so hard, I would finish it in 20 minutes tops.

Finally there is the multiplayer. Observe the destruction of buildings crumpling down on your enemy, or the planes crashing into the helicopters that shot down a guard post that held a sniper who was shooting a bullet deep into your team mates neck. A beautiful sight to behold, especially when your jumping off a thousand foot drop. Unfortunately, this is not what happens.(although the planes crashing into helicopters thing happens, and it sucks) Instead, if you wanna observe that pretty little mountain far off in the distance, you better go back to 1942 if you wanna climb it. And you better duck down before you miraculously take a bullet to the head. You can't mess around in this game, there are no multiple choices, and the whole sandbox aspect of the series is gone forever. There are no multiple paths through the giant mountain, and since the maps are so small now, there is no mountain anyways. There is always a small section of a city, with only two or three alleys to sprint through, no flanking points. Back to karkand did a good job with this, but the full game failed. I don't like the environment because I can't enjoy the graphics of the enviroment before getting stabbed through the chest or noob tubed by a giant rocket launcher. I can't figure out this game after 40 hours into multiplayer, and therefore it isn't a good battlefield game. Either you get 1 kill 10 deaths and 1000 points on helping your team, or you get 20 kills 4 deaths and 1000 points for helping your team. I don't know how they did it, but dice screwed up this game for me.

One final thing. Battlefield 3 has the greatest graphics of any video game ever created. Yes, you can change minecraft graphics, and Skyrim looks good. I played skyrim, and battlefield graphics are so much better it's ridiculous. I honestly don't understand why people say that it doesn't have the best in graphics, but so be it.

This game kind of sucked. That's my rating.

This game is a piece of **** if you don't have xbox live. Yeah, the xbox live is all right, but the campaign is a waste of time. Not to mention that the game has to load every freaking time you die, a total pain in the ass. I don't want to have to spend anymore, but I guess I'm going to need xbox live to make this game remotely fun.

The single player campaign is short and a bit disappointment, but who buys buys this game only for single player. The co-op missions are great fun, but multiplayer is that what truly rocks. The graphics and sounds are awesome, maps are huge and impressive and vehicles are nicely balanced. Battlefield 3 is one of the best multiplayer games in this year altough some may not like it at all.

Not a bad game. I gave this game a chance after the abortion that is MW3. I can honestly say the mechanics of the game are sound. It takes a bit of getting used to after playing MW3 for so long. Bugs? only bugs i get are bugs when sometimes the sound will bug out if too many explosions happen around me at one time. Constantly spawn killed by snipers? recon is the least played class so how can you get killed that much plus sniping isnt like COD where you can do 360 no scopes and think ur awesome, its legit sniping in battlefield. Controls are bad? wtf its the same controls as COD with the addition of spotting. Dice rushed bf3? they spent 3 years developing bf3 and frostbite 2 and u call this instead of mw3 which got one year to be developed rushed? Small maps? Get ur eyes checked. but i will admit the campaign is pretty boring and co op is pretty short. but its not that big of a deal this is like one slice of a whole pizza. NOW THAT SOME LIES ARE CLEARED, lets talk about what bf3 is good at. bf3 has by far the best graphics i have seen even if its not at bf3s best because of console limitations and those who say bf3 has bad graphics have to check their eyes. bf3 has its own server hosts so no more annoying host migration *cough* *cough* *COD*. lag is not a problem in bf3 as it rarely lags at all. the maps are a great change from CODs tightly packed maps they feelnice and open and give you space to think. many people will fail and give bf3 a bad review because theyve played COD for too long and they expect all fps to be like that. BF3 IS NOT COD!!!! bf3 has its own style and you have to be dedicated to learn how the game works. campers are no problem because once i demolish their cover theyll have to taste the bullets from my m416. vehicles make jobs easy to do but their not invincible so you have to learn to retreat not think ur chuck norris' son and blast at air. i have much more good stuff to say but it will all be revealed when you buy bf3. remember if u go into battlefield with COD tactics, youll never grasp the true awesomeness of bf3 Expand

That changed when I went to a friend's house and saw this game being played. If you played the beta, then let me say the actual game is completely different. The beta was probably a poor marketing decision in my opinion. Anyhow, after playing other games online, my confidence in the direction that game development in general is taking had started to waver. In general rather than getting bigger and better, they were being dumbed down, to smaller and lamer. No one was ever pushing the envelope. Year after year the same games were being released that completely lacked innovation - from new installments of COD to Halo. Don't get me wrong the first Halo game was great, but then I guess they decided to rest on their laurels, something that the COD franchise has decided is a career move. While PC gamers may scoff, there is no doubt that even they see the effects of the dumbing down of games - as developers reach for a broader audience and develop their games for console and then port that to PC. To me, however, BF3 is that breath of fresh air that I've been waiting for. The maps are enormous. The weapons are fairly realistic and have selector switches. If you had asked me in 2003 when I was playing Ghost Recon I'd say that's pretty much standard, and now that it's 2011 even more so, but sadly it is not. The gameplay options are also pretty vast. There are a ton of different vehicles in which you can play around, as well as four different main classes that can be customized in different ways. You can have 12v12 which again, if you had told me 10 years ago that 24 players on a server would be as far as we would come by 2012, I may have cried... speaking on the development of games in general it's kinda sad. However, compared to other console games out right now, it's obviously very nice. BF3 does have some flaws which are generally overshadowed by the immense fun you'll be having while playing it. For one, the engineer class is clearly the superior class, at least on open vehicle maps. On smaller and indoor maps, the class system that forces teamwork shines a bit better, but on open maps your squad will often consist of four engineers. I have heard some complaints that the larger maps a bit too large, which does have some merit. Although you generally can spawn pretty close to the action, that doesn't detract from the point that, as mainly a conquest player, there can be up to 5 territories, with only 12 players on each team. A bit of math puts between 2 and 3 players at each territory, but since players generally roll in squads of four that kind of divide doesn't generally happen. You can obviously just station a squad at 3/5 of the territories, although things never work out so pretty. Basically what I'm getting at it that I like the map size, but feel that often there are not enough players to fill it - I will quite often move from territory to territory and neutralize/capture two or three in a row without finding any opposition. A lot of people have also complained about joining servers on a squad. The thing is, that since there are dedicated servers as compared to a matchmaking p2p system, there are usually only about four slots free on any server, which is usually two on each team. So when you first join you may be separated from your squad. After one or sometimes two games you can then switch teams as people leave and new people join. It's a minor thing to complain about, as I don't mind killing my friends just a little bit, and after one game we are usually all on the same team in the same squad, ready to have a blast. Anyhow this is getting to be a bit long winded, but I will finish by saying BF3 has really raised the bar for console FPS games. My faith in games has been momentarily restored, and I will never play a lesser FPS. If you haven't tried it, then give it a whirl, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Expand

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
