    Well done Nintendo,you just can't beat Japanese originality,how they managed to build on beyond Breath of the Wild baffles me but they did.Try not to use youtube and guides if you can for extra wonder.Just an amazing game.Highly recommend

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. BotW and TotK are good games, but not good Zelda games, and unfortunately for TotK, it feels like a clunkier, more disjointed version of BotW.

    Frame drops, clunky menuing and abilities, lack of meaningful storyline, and Zelda lore retconning drags the score of this game down substantially for me.

    If you’re a traditional Zelda fan then I’d recommend skipping this one in favor of playing through BotW again. $70 is way too much to ask for this glorified BotW reskin.    … Expand

    As someone who loved Breath of the Wild, I can't help but feel disappointed with Tears of the Kingdom. This really does feel like a $70 expansion to a BotW, or rather a different version of BotW, which is lame as half of the fun of the game was experiencing the world for the first time with all new mechanics. I already feel like I've seen everything in TotK, the draw just isn't as strong. The gameplay is mostly unchanged, including all of its negatives. Cooking is still annoying, exploration can still feel pointless, durability is even more annoying, etc etc. Link does have new abilities this time around but I honestly think I prefer his old ones. TotK also has pretty bad performance issues, like way more than its predecessor. Dips, stutters, and moments of blurry picture quality are all too common.

    With all that being said, TotK is still a fun and (mechanically) polished experience, which is more than you can say for most AAA games being made these days. Just don't go in expecting something totally new and groundbreaking.    … Expand

    This game is incredible! Nobody expected Nintendo to go and make a game that actually surpasses Breath of the Wild in every aspect! This game will be the game of tge year for sure!!

    There are some issues with the core system of the game, the Ultra Hand. When exercising the Ultra Hand, the frame rate can become unstable and I feel stressed. It's annoying just replacing what was done in the previous work with the element of crafting.

    Zelda 720p 20fps in 2023 is something you can't accept. Switch's technical issues limit the game's potential.
    Zelda is not an INDIE! Zelda is AAA and It should run at 1080p~1440p~4K 60fps. NOT 720p 20fps.

    I never finished the first game, and this one is really easy to get into, which is great. The story is good, although it is really only for people who are devoted to video games, and will not drop them when they don’t understand it. Take this review lightly, as I am only a couple hours into the game.

    I’m shocked by a lot of the reviews on this game. It’s clear to me that many of these people either have not played the game and have no intention of playing it, or they haven’t played enough of it. Now, I understand the legitimate concerns. I also understand that if you didn’t like breath of the wild, this probably won’t be your cup of tea either, as it largely seems to use many of the same design philosophies. What I can’t understand is people calling this game lazy. Nintendo is many things, but one thing they are not—lazy developers, especially when it comes to their big IPs. From what I’ve come to understand, the radical shift to the Zelda formula found in BOTW wasn’t necessarily a result of the fans getting tired of the Zelda formula (though many were at the time), but rather it was the developers at Nintendo who got sick of the Zelda formula. Breath of the wild was a passion project and I could feel their passion as I played it. I feel that same passion again in this game as I explore the sky islands, the depths, the caves, and so much more that the developers have lovingly created for us. I was concerned about this game having a substantial amount of new content above what breath of the wild had. I was afraid that the game would be like “DLC”. But as the game was approaching release I realized that even if the game was just glorified DLC, and even if the biggest thing it accomplished would be to give me a new perspective of this Hyrule that I fell in love with in BOTW, I would be happy. So far, I am happy to report that Tears of the Kingdom has gone above and beyond that mark for me and has created a unique experience that I am really enjoying. Frankly, the amount of new content is a bit overwhelming even!

    It seems hasty to me that there are some giving a game of this scope a 0/10 the day after it comes out. This game might take 50-100 hours to appreciate all that it has to offer. And even after completion, it takes serious reflection to consider the effect of a game like this. I’m all for people having their own opinions, but I’m not as happy when I see people make hasty generalizations and parrot what they have seen or heard from others around them. This game deserves more critical thinking. So far, I’m loving this game. I haven’t had nearly enough time to form a true opinion about it, and I will change my score if my feelings on the game change. But for now 10/10, great game.    … Expand

    This is the best game I've ever played, one of the greatest arts in the video game industry, it's packed with magical moments, the rewards in this game are not items or chests but the sense of accomplishments we do with it's mechanics

    This game does everything that Botw did, but better. The open world is even bigger, while at the same time being more interesting. Classic Zelda dungeons are finally back and offer creative and fun puzzles just like in OoT or Majora's Mask.

    The 4 new main abilities of Link manage to replace the old ones perfectly. They also create many new ways for players to solve puzzles, with most of the shrines being solvable in a much more creative manner than the intended one.
    While the base game had some performance issues, the day-one patch fixed them and so far I have not experienced any frame drops that impacted my gameplay.
    Because of all of this, I think that the game overcame the predictions of just being a Botw DLC by a lot. It offers way more content than its predecessor, probably more than twice as much and discovering this content makes more fun than ever before. This game is undoubtedly a contender for being one of the best games of all time.    … Expand

    Breath of the wild was amazing in so many ways. It had its issues but it was amazing. This game took that amazing and gave far more of it while trying to takle every single issue that botw had. Most that ive played of these things tackling its issues have worked phenomenally. Resulting in honestly one of the best games ive played in a couple of years.

    Another masterpiece from Nintendo. Somehow they were able to progress Breath of the Wild and go above and beyond for Tears of the Kingdom. A masterpiece game that should be played by anyone who enjoys video games.

    TOTK is a constant reminder that when it comes to playing the important thing is the illusion and imagination. I wish more companies had the courage to face the effort it takes to make games like this. Nintendo definitely makes games for kids... and for adults who want to be kids again, at least for a few hours.

    Tudo bem não gostar de Zelda, é do gosto de cada um. Eu mesmo não gosto de jogos souls-like e to ok com isso, mas não saio por aí dando hate em algo que pra muita gente significa muito.
    No entanto não faz sentido desmerecer ou superestimar uma franquia nos seus já 37 anos de existência só pq ela desbancou seu joguinho favorito. Nota 0? Also, why are so many characters (hestu, etc) acting like they don’t know who Link is? This is a sequel. My biggest problem is that the Fuse system is so annoying.     It plays very similar to botw but it feels like they took the creative freedom you wish you had and gave it to you. I don't care for how almost 1-1 it is in little things. For example, the cooking visuals and sounds are the exact same as in botw. But the new things so far make up for it enough

    De los mejores juegos que hayan salido en la actualidad, llevan lo que era perfecto en su precuela a otro nivel. Hace de un juego que ya era increíble, aún más increíble. Todo en una consola como la switch.

    No se siente para nada una expansión, más bien, se siente como verdadero juego, dejando a su precuela como beta

    I have been playing for around 5 hours and what I´ve seen is just amazing, the drawing distance is incredible, yes it does ave some FPS drops but is literally for 1 or 2 secconds, I love the game, coming to just have played BOTW for the 5th time and now startint TOTK feels like BOTW is just a trial for TOTK

    Overhyped game. This is BOTW 1.5, graphics technically the same. Controls suck. The new glueing/weapon fuse thing is a waste of time not fun after the first 10min. Weapons break after 5 hits WTF. I would say this is a wait for a deep deep sale but we know Nintendo will never drop the prices on their overrated franchises.

    Tears of the Kingdom is phenomenal! It did not miss a beat from the excellence of Breath of the Wild. Already on it's first day, people have discovered so many cool things about it, like Link can craft a skateboard and do tricks and also roast Korok's on a rotisserie - LOL!!! Can't wait to see what else people can come up with!!! So far I'm having a blast running and roaming around the kingdom.

    The things that we get from Breath of the wild but powered with more verticality makes this game the perfect open world. The epic bosses, hatching history and indispensable powers for explore the world of hyrule makes thid game a truly Legend.

    The game is perfect, with a lot of content, but the machine is too affected, the frame rate and resolution are not high, Nintendo should consider the next generation console, because there are many excellent games that are limited by the machine.

    Definitivamente una mejora absoluta si contamos lo que fue breath of the wild, un salto adelante el que dio nintendo, siempre hay algo que hacer, con solo caminar por todo hyrule encontraras algo, enemigos, santuario o algun npc que te podria dar una sorpresa

    Tears of the Kingdom expands on everything that Breath of the Wild offered us. It's definitely GOTY and easily top 5 Legend of Zelda title.

    Just an above average open world game if you liked the botw IP you'll like this one. Whats disgusting is nintendo charging you 70 USD/90 CAD and 6 years for what is essentially a rom hack. 6-7/10 is a fair score without the inflation it gets for carrying the zelda name.

    The game is alright. Definitely not a 10/10. It's 90% the same game as BotW so if you want more of the same this game is definitely for you. Otherwise there's not much to see here. The biggest issue with this game is the controls. Controller was, is, and always will be a terrible input mechanism for a 3D game like this.

    Una maravilla, si ya BOTW era un juegazo este le da dos vueltas, mapa increíble y lleno de vida, apartado gráfico, que obviamente no me refiero a potencia, maravilloso, historia excelente, mecánicas que dan para horas y horas de diversión y exploración, simplemente una obra maestra.

    Game in massive, tons of new content to explore, story is better than even, dungeons are actually fun and challenging in this game, graphics are gorgeous, performance is great,    Easly the game of the year, gosh, the game of the decade.     Amazing! So much fun! I love Breath of the Wild but Tears of the Kingdom has seriously added so much to the story and there’s so much to do! So many side quests and I’m loving Link’s new abilities and the gameplay. I was excited to play Breath of the Wild but Tears of the Kingdom is making me so emotional. I’ve been a fan of the Zelda series since I first played A Link to the Past as aAmazing! So much fun! I love Breath of the Wild but Tears of the Kingdom has seriously added so much to the story and there’s so much to do! So many side quests and I’m loving Link’s new abilities and the gameplay.     It has everything good about its predecessor, it's nostalgic to a certain point, once again I feel moved by a game, just like with the prequel, it has many changes for the better, the story is exceptional, the gameplay is basically the same and the new mechanics are amazing. I love it.

    Endless possibilities, endless skies, the only limit is your own creativity. Fantastic exploration in the best Open World to date. The best physics system in the industry. TotKs gameplay makes other games look like a tech demo.

    Best looking Switch game. What they achieved on this small machine is mind blowing. Great image quality, great attention to detail, and probably the best use of LOD in a video game ever so you can look across the whole gigantic map all the time at a stable performance and without any noticeable pop-ins. TotK is a technical masterpiece.

    Nintendo has done it again. They made the best Open World game with BotW and now with TotK. 10/10 and it raises the bar even higher.    … Expand

    I liked Botw but I found that when I wanted to replay it the beginning was quite boring and slow.

Anyone who likes Singleplayer experiences and any previous Zelda game will definitely find some fun for themselves here. Comparing this masterpiece to all the other AAA titles, it's the only one deserving the AAA-status so far!    … Expand

    I genuinely love this game, and think it is one of the best games on the entire Nintendo Switch. I suck at this game, and I'm not a Zelda fan, but I have enjoyed every second I played this game.

    Supera por mucho lo que planteo el Zelda breath of the wild añadiendo mecánicas nuevas que interactúan de manera orgánica con el mundo creado añadiendo zonas en el cielo y bajo tierra así como el gran Hyrule en la superficie y si recicla cosas del mundo y es normal ya que es una secuela y eso la hace más realistas aún , además que muestra un sistema de físicas en un video juego que casiSupera por mucho lo que planteo el Zelda breath of the wild añadiendo mecánicas nuevas que interactúan de manera orgánica con el mundo creado añadiendo zonas en el cielo y bajo tierra así como el gran Hyrule en la superficie y si recicla cosas del mundo y es normal ya que es una secuela y eso la hace más realistas aún , además que muestra un sistema de físicas en un video juego que casi llega a lo real, es absurdo como cada detalle en el juego nos hace sentir un juego tan vivo y orgánico incentivando al jugador a la exploración y la capacidad de crear infinitas posibilidades para jugar y hacer lo que te plazca en el basto Hyrule haciendo que el jugador tenga camino libre para vivir su aventura de manera diferente.     This is not Botw 1.5. This is a direct sequel..

    This is not dlc. Its a much longer sequel with new bosses, gameplay mechsnics, new story, borderline new everything. If this game is dlc, then idk what counts as DLC anymore to you people.

Nintendo not only expanded upon the lore of the world but made it feel so different and alive that its exciting. The game feels fresh and new and caters to both old and new fans alike. With the day 1 patch, the fps has been very good and pretty smooth with minor dips in heavily populated areas but doesn't detract from the experience. The new mechanics are exciting and really open up on what you can do and how you traverse the world. I think the most surprising is the traversal between sky, to the land of Hyrule and even to the underground is seamless with no loading screens between. You can dive from the sky islands straight into a chasm leading to the underground without any issues. Its pretty impressive and it shows how much polish and thought the developers put into the game. They've redone the music and sound system, providing a better experience and adding awesome musical scores that really add to the experience. Overall, this is game of the the year material. I highly recommend everyone pick this up and play.… Expand

    Totk is a masterpiece and what botw should've been. Even though I'm not a fan of bowt, totk is just so much better in just about everything you could think of. I haven't felt with a game in years and the prologue of this game is by far the best on any Zelda game. This is the best game you can play in nintendo switch.

    La espera a valido completamente la pena, han tomado todo lo bueno de botw y lo han mejorado por 100, va estable a 30fps en un 98%. Luego nos tenemos que creer a los de gamefreak diciendo que la switch no da jajaja.

    ive been waiting for this since it announced in 2019 and this game makes breath of the wild look bad in comparison.. it basically took botw, times'd it by 3, and fixed almost all my issues i had with the original game

    A great sequel to Breath of the Wild, way more content and stuff to do. Pretty bad framerate shows the switch's age but its something I can live with.

    The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
