Hot take but I actually preferred BoTW. Yes that initial wow factor played a major role in that, but the dungeons actually had puzzles that couldn't be solved with a rocket shield, and boss fights didn't require wierd and or unfun gimmicks to make them challenging.

This game really redifines what a sequel is without making Breath of the Wild obsolete. It has so much personality, interesting game mechanics and a huge world to explore. TOTK gives the player so much choice that it is almost impossible to be bored by it since you can always choose what to do next and pick what interests you most. This includes the WAY you play. You can decide how and when to attack enemies, come up with interesting strategies that allow for player expression like never before in a video game. it would have been a 10/10 if not for the common technical issues like frame drops and resolution dropping significantly but it doesn't interfere with the gameplay too much. However as good as this game is, I have to warn players that disliked Breath of the Wild. This game is pretty similar in terms of gameplay and if you hated BOTW you're going to hate TOTK too. Expand

TOTK was exceptionally better than BOTW. More expansive, better story, longer main story content, fantastic improved weapon system, and most importantly it actually felt like a Zelda game this go around. 9/10. However my biggest gripe, korok seeds!

TOTK was exceptionally better than BOTW. More expansive, better story, longer main story content, fantastic improved weapon system, and most importantly it actually felt like a Zelda game this go around. 9/10. However my biggest gripe, korok seeds!

In future entries please remove things like korok seeds, the sign guy, and how the shrines are carried out. I get that it's a children’s game, but the puzzle experience behind these trivial things were just tedious and ultimately unrewarding. I felt Shrines, signs, and seeds were forced tutorials that you had to play through for their mediocre rewards. At this point I kinda miss that heart gems were just findable in cave, the puzzles of those I mentioned above were simply demeaning and time wasting (korok seeds especially). I get it, put the thing in the thing, get the thing to the thing, which translates to stop what your adhd focus is on and do this thing instead so you forget and wander around aimlessly after you’re done. One thing that could remedy this is to instead make the weapon storage more reliant on rare ingredients that you must find in all corners of Hyrule to check the box of needing a player to traverse as much of the map as possible. You could reward players for picking up every rock by finding exclusive ingredients like this. As for sign guy, just don’t… for the shrines make caves this type of puzzle and instead of bubbelgems make the reward heart pieces. You already got rid of Sheika shrines, might as well put caves where they were and call it a day!

In contrast, I felt the best puzzle experiences were the riddles, armor caves, and random discoveries scattered throughout hyrule (though some of those could’ve packed better rewards than **** like sapphires and ****ty weapons). These experiences felt mystical and gave me the feeling I was actually discovering something no one else had. It was absolutely an enjoyable experience!

Another thing I enjoyed was the refreshing new enemies and the return of familiar Zelda baddies. It padded out the roster that grew stale in BOTW. Even though these enemies got pretty boring after a while, I found it was enough to make an enjoyable experience filled with enough novelty to keep things interesting. The size of the game is also impressive for only 16gb of space. There are pretty much 3 maps to explore! One of them is filled with much of the same content, but it makes for a good pallet cleanser to contrast the rest of your exploration through Hyrule if it starts getting stale. The last boss felt like a real Zelda last boss, although the challenge isn’t really there. I remember some of the Zelda last bosses actually being difficult before in games before BOTW. The difficulty of this game is very high in the beginning but diminishes to severally easy once you make it past the midpoint of understanding the basic concepts of each aspect of the game from cooking, building, and fusing. That’s a big weakness, but one I don’t have an answer for except that you should make the difficulty scale with the power ups. All in all I had a fun time, even though I collected everything and felt a pang of betrayal at the lack of rewards for all my troubles. I felt the most rewarded for completing all the main story content though, and I feel the game shines with it. (My last small gripe is the a jab at the cutscenes for completing each of the big main milestones in the game… they are all the damn same… what a missed lore opportunity.)

The Gloom Hands scared the Sh1t outta me. My only gripes are that there ain't more and harder dungeons and that the weapons variety SUCKS. Maybe the DLC will make up for it Expand

A well thought out video game sequel that improves upon its predecessor but shouldn’t be charged for $70. That said, TOTK goes back to its roots with the traditional style of other Zelda games we know we and love, that includes actual dungeons, a good variety of enemy/boss fights and a broader story.

The story and game play is way more refined than BOTW, and it shows. The dungeons are better (for the most part, which I will expand on) and aren't boring. Almost everything succeeds it's predecessor's.... EXCEPT FOR THE MUSIC!!!!!

When I watched the 3rd trailer, I thought the music would normally be that good! Most of the tracks in this game suck balls, and the dungeons are no exception! Save for colgeras theme, nothing in this game sounds good! And the towns didn't get new music either!!!!!

Jokes aside, the one thing bringing this game down from a 10 is the major lack of bangers. Hopefully the dlc can give me what I desire.

A great game that just falls short of being perfect. If there was any flaw with Breath of the Wild it was the, at times, aimless exploring, so Tears of the Kingdom thought, why not add more of that and gave us more areas to explore, which can be difficult like the sky locations, or a bit tedious like the underground one. Everything else is perfect, including the story, which isn'tA great game that just falls short of being perfect. Everything else is perfect, including the story, which isn't something that can be said about several Zelda games, where the story takes too much of a backseat, and lord knows despite my complaints, I've played the game for over 130 hours so it's not like it's all bad, but it is a bit too much.

The shrine puzzles are actually better than the original, the characters, even legacy ones like Zelda are somehow more interesting arguably than they've ever been, the new music is perfect and blends in well with music from Breath of the Wild so much so that I almost wonder if they weren't used tracks from the original, because my gawd are they amazing, and the new mechanics, while they have a slight learning curve are absolutely fantastic when you clear it, and while there is an occasional lag spike, it happens so little it barely warrants mentioning, but barely isn't nothing so I did, and it is an overall fantastic game. It probably won't be my GOTY, even though it will be for the Switch, but it is absolutely worth the price of admission, and it's the only hiked up priced game that I think I can say that for. If you can play it, play it, it's a wonderful world to get lost in.

The way the game rewards with creativity without needing it. The amount of content this game has is a bit overwhelming in a good, I have about 50 hours as of this review, and I still have too much to do, The story on this game is a big upgrade, but that is not true for the music, Zelda music is usually a relaxing and amazing time to listen to, but TOTK and BOTW have not delivered. The dungeons are still not back to their full form, but are still better then BOTW. Even though this doesn't feel like a Zelda game, It is still a masterpiece Nonetheless. Expand

-This time I was definitely waiting for there to be postgame: some new side quests would have opened up and I could have explored the rest of the world and help rebuild whole Hyrule.

    MAP
-Sky islands were fun and the underground world is huge!
-But I expected to find slightly different biomes there, tough I won't take any points off from this.
-Still.. With this game alone I wasn't quite able to fully achieve that same adventuring feeling than in Botw. Mostly because I already knew every major location on the ground, even tough there were a lot of caves and new enemies.
-I would have liked that they expanded the hyrule ground map even little and add new cities (even one) and would have made the old cities bigger!

    RUNES
-All the runes were good/great and somewhat surprisingly I liked the Ascend
    the most!

    WEAPONS
-Weapons still break but fuse was ok/fun so no points off. Tough I still would prefer that you would be able to build/upgrade your own weapons with blacksmith/anvil and they wouldn't break

    SHRINES & DUNGEONS
-the shrines were generally more fun than in Botw.
-I liked these dungeons better than Divine beasts

    Summary
-I would say it is as good as botw but for new players it's even better.
But for those who already completed Botw and are really familiar with the old the map,
you might not be able to get the same level of adventure feeling when exploring on ground, witch is a HUGE part of the game.

But since this is direct sequel.. If you think Botw and Totk as one experience, then totk is pretty much a perfect postgame for Botw! ...well it's kinda overly large to be just postgame but if I think it this way then its 100/100!

Next game should be on whole new world! third time would be way too much..

I don't care very much for the story as it is just a remix of the same legend of Zelda formula (that can be good or bad depending one one's perspective) and the characters can be vastly generic.

The added difficulty of the enemies is great and the return of dungeons and dungeon bosses is really nice. While the game is amazing it doesn’t mean it’s perfect and I still have a few gripes with it. The lack of connectivity between the two games is definitely one of the biggest flaws in my opinion, as well as the low amounts of sky islands. The dungeons, while I’m glad they are back feel kind of the same besides the environment, “activate 4 of this thing and fight the boss” that’s basically it. Being a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, it kept most of its creatures: monsters and animals, as well as repeating some of its melodies during exploration (on horseback is where it becomes most noticeable), however the newly incorporated songs of its masterful soundtrack and well-crafted level boss fights make it a total triumph. This game is, without a doubt, a step forward in the Zelda’s future. Once again, Zelda is legend. Expand

Couldn't wait playing this game and it did not let me down. There is so much interesting stuff to explore in this world. The new mechanics mean that nearly every single thing on the map is interactive and can be used to make a useful weapon. Really awesome. It has also a really great story, especially if you get all of the memories.

As a longtime classic Zelda fan who wasn't a fan of BOTW, coming into this I was not expecting to love it as much as I do.

They've almost perfectly fused what makes a Zelda game with what made BOTW. And it just works.

Not to mention the physics are the biggest leap forward in gaming since Portal 1.

    Best Zelda since Majoras Mask

TL;DR It's good. Most likely you won't regret playing it, especially if you haven't played Breath of the wild yet. The critic is exaggerating it (it wouldn't deserve a 10), but it's definitely a high quality video game with a lot of care put into it.

However, I wouldn't recommend buying a Nintendo Switch exclusively for Tears of the Kingdom, or any single videogame, really.

    PROS
-Some of the best environmental puzzle solving around which encourages yout creativity and rewards unintended solutions
-A highly-acclaimed physics system that manages to surprise you after years of playing
-A LOT of content (and it's mostly good)
-It's really cinematic at times (especially the music, the dungeons, the bosses and the skydiving sections)

    CONS
-The story is weak and incoherent
-Outdated graphics and performance dips in some situations (the day one patch helps, install it)

    YOU DECIDE
-Not only the main map, but all the formulas (shrines, memories, 4 main dungeons) from the previous game are brought over
-There is a lot of building to be done and it can get goofy

Funny enough, my biggest gripe is that the stable owners and Great Fairies need to quit repeating themselves. They are so long winded XD bhaha. For the 1,000th time. It’d be great if maybe they repeated their tips two or three times tops, then quit after that point.

The game is nearly a masterpiece to me.

We’re a sandbox generation, so building contraptions was fun to encounter in a Zelda game, but soon enough there are plenty of portals and towers unlocked for fast traveling between the three layers of the world that the feature isn’t used as much in mid to late game. (Fine with me, tbh, it got too time consuming to build all the time).

So those Koroks that need to be reunited with their friends? I think maybe 3 or 4 got reunited the first couple days. After that, they’ve been completely ignored. Poor neglected Koroks. LOL. Just too many of them.

The sky islands and the underground are incredible experiences at first, but they are big and basically empty. I play about 8 hours a week now, and find myself visiting them for quick sessions of grinding as nothing entices me to stick around long. I replayed BOTW many times over the years, but with how ToTK is such a huge game, I don’t see how I’ll care to restart it from the beginning. Maybe that’s why I’m taking my time with all the side quests, knowing this might be my only time through LOL.

The storyline is more complex, layered, and interactive than BOTW. Rather than the townspeople hunkering in the towns afraid and needing saving from pockets of monsters, they are a bigger part of the story, trying to “help” solve what is going on. There are all sorts of researchers about, and monster fighting teams, etc. You even get to fight alongside the Gerudo army. The personalization of NPC’s really helped TotK excel over BOTW.

I might be rare that I like the breakable weapons lol. Upgradeable outfits compensate for having weaker weapons (maybe even over-compensate). Just plan to take the time to make a couple outfits really strong before you progress too far, then you can take on toughter monsters and use their parts to fuse better weapons.

The only thing I find strange is that I have no desire actually beat the game. I’ve watched videos and it seems like a frustrating, arduous task anyways. In BOTW, Zelda (and others) constantly urge Link to rush and help, but the story in TotK is more about the unraveling of mysteries, and is less urgent feeling.

Although I liked building Link’s house, it also looks like an IKEA project. LOL

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Summary: Open World Action Adventure starring Zelda, Link, and their friends and foes. It's basically BOTW II, with more areas to explore, side activities to do, and new abilities to play with. Most of all, its solid gameplay intertwined with its charm make it a very unforgettable experience that is a lot of fun.

    The Good:

If you felt there wasn't a ton of stuff to do in BOTW, you certainly won't get that feeling in TOTK. You can spend somewhere between 150 and 200 hours if you choose to 100% the game. Even outside of all the things that get you to that 100%, there are just more NPCs walking around, enemy encampments scattered about, and areas to explore in the name of caves introduced to the main world, the sky islands, and the Depths, which is like an "upside down" pitch-dark world that is a mirror of the main overworld you are used to from BOTW.

The combat is the same from BOTW, so if you liked it there you will like it here. If you haven't played BOTW, it's very reminiscent to other 3rd person action games where you lock onto targets and dodge around and get your hits in when you can (which, you can often as the game is not very difficult). What is more interesting however in TOTK, is the ability to fuse things to your weapons and shields. This helps spice up combat a bit as you can attach anything you want to a weapon or shield which will give it different properties. As you progress the main story, you get these spirit followers that will follow you around and help you fight stuff which helps speed up clearing big enemy encampments as well.

One the biggest features of the game is the ability to build things using the materials fusing ability (called ultra hand, different from the ability that you use to fuse stuff to weapons). This is used in the main story, in side quests, and in figuring out most puzzles. However, the most interesting part to a lot of players is probably how you can use it to build traps, fighting contraptions, vehicles of different kinds: whatever you can think of really. This wasn't really something that I was interested in doing, but overall I enjoyed doing the quests and side stuff that required building.

    The Bad:

The story is like a 4 out of 10. Its pretty basic, and outside of the twist (which I won't spoil but you probably know what it is anyway from the Internet) it just isn't very interesting and it mostly just keeps repeating the same points throughout the whole thing. I understand its Nintendo and they probably want to appeal to the widest audience as possible, but I don't think kids would really care if they don't understand the story because they probably just want to fight stuff and build silly things with ultra hand. So, that being said it would have served the game better to have a better written story.

The depths and sky areas are kinda a bummer. The sky area is not very big at all and consists of a bunch of small to medium sized islands, and just feels big at first because of how spread out it is. If you put all the sky areas together instead of spread out over the map like they are, it would probably be the size of one of the biomes, like gerudo desert or death mountain. The depths is a mirror of the normal world above, so where there is a valley in the normal world, thats a mountain in the depths. That in itself is kind of a bummer, but more so the fact that there is hardly any lore at all outside of a couple main quest lines down there, and there are just a bunch of copy-pasted enemies from the normal world down there for the most part.

That leads to the last bad part, the copy-pasting. Its an issue with a lot of Open World games, and TOTK is not much different. A lot of the game is copy-pasted collectible stuff and enemy encampments. If you don't enjoy that kind of content, it is easy to feel like there isn't much enjoyable stuff to actually use the fun abilities and the combat abilities against.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Definitely one of the best Zelda games, nevertheless video games, I have ever played. It's an odd situation where I do think this is a better objective experience in most regards when compared to Breath of the Wild- yet, after having played it for 2 and a half months, I can't help but feel like I enjoyed my experience with Breath of the Wild slightly more. For one, despite Tears' strikingly incredible reuse of Breath's Hyrule, I can't help but feel like the initial magic of unfettered exploration from Breath is largely gone. Now, it's undoubtedly true that the advent of the sky, depths, and caves make up for much of the difference. In fact, the opening moments of the game where the sky is first revealed to the player fully DO recapture that magic from Breath for me. Sheer awe.

There's no doubt that Tears is probably Nintendo's single most impressive technical experience to date. The ability to freely move nearly every object in the game, attach them to one another, fuse items to any weapons, AND have all three layers of the map available without any loading screens, WHILE being on a system that is leagues behind other major systems technically??? It is a complete miracle to me that the game isn't constantly breaking. And, yes, while there are definitely moments where the game stutters quite significantly and has minor glitches, I can easily look past all of these things given the circumstances. I can easily see why the game took six years to develop just for the physics system alone.

There are notable ways in which the game has notably improved upon milestones of Breath. For instance, the bosses and enemy variety in Tears are a SIGNIFICANT improvement. In addition to the few enemy templates from Breath, Tears introduces Like Likes for the new caves, Aerocudas as a new sky enemy, the particularly interesting inclusion of the desert-exclusive Gibdos, and several others. In addition, the game's bosses are a massive improvement as well. Several new overworked bosses are added in the forms of Gleeoks and Flex Constructs, not to mention the game's inclusion of full-fledged dungeon bosses as opposed to a rehashed Ganon battle every dungeon. All of these inclusions give the game so much life and variety, though I definitely think there could've been more enemy variety for the game's various areas. If the desert has its own enemy-type, why not the game's various forests? Or its icy mountainous areas? The lack of unique environmental enemies for these other areas make them still fall flat in terms of feeling like a truly populated space.

On the topic of the game's dungeons, they serve as a mixed bag. Tears makes the choice to have its dungeons harken back more so to the dungeon styles of Zelda of old... in theory. These dungeons certainly LOOK like older Zelda dungeons, and some feel similar to them (such as the Lightning Temple). Others though, like the Wind and Water Temples, are once again terminal activation collections. I am still unsure as to why the game marks every terminal location on your map, as this would at least force the player to explore the map to find them. Still, the build up to each dungeon is genuinely magnificent, and the inclusion of new bosses still makes these dungeons, at least to me, an outright improvement over Breath's, even if they are still far from the quality of many older Zelda dungeons.

For me, the single biggest disappointment in Tears would be the two new map layers. While both are certainly phenomenal inclusions, I can't help but feel as though neither reached their full potential. For example, the sky map in Tears often uses the same cookie-cutter islands dotted throughout it. More often than not, when exploring another section of the sky, you will stumble upon a pronged island with a device dispenser, a launching platform, and a crystal for a shrine quest. Having a few of these islands as a sort of checkpoint location throughout the sky makes sense, but the game has what feels like dozens of them. Beyond these and the game's two sky dungeons, there is astoundingly little else of note apart from a handful of diving challenges and only a few totally unique islands, with one set of thunder-covered islands being the most unique. The game begins on an enormous sky island as its tutorial, implying that the sky will have at least a few of islands of this size. However, there are no other islands even CLOSE to as big as this. The depths suffer from a similar problem of feeling monotonous- while it can be very fun to light light roots, apart from Death Mountain, the rest of the depths has the exact same aesthetic, which is somewhat disappointing.

Still, ultimately these are all minor nitpicks that I'm dwelling upon to show how minor they are. While I still ultimately SLIGHTLY prefer Breath for its perfected focus on exploration, that could change in the future easily. An absolutely wonderful game, sequel, and Zelda experience that I'm sure I'll love forever.

My only complaint with this game at all:
There should've been much more sky island content, giving more reason to want to explore that layer than the one phenomenal tutorial island. I was very disappointed upon seeing most of the game still took place on the ground.

If any BOTW player is wondering if theres any huge progression change in TOTK, the core of it is basically the same as BOTW. Theres a lot of gameplay elements that were changed, and the quests, dungeons and shrine puzzles are a lot cooler now, but it does end up feeling like deja vu sometimes. Even though I thought this game was definitely worth my money after playing BOTW, it's pretty reasonable if you think otherwise.

And that its, the review its over, the game for me its the 2023 GOTY, but also not perfect.

    Nota final: 9/10

There were many improvements made to the open world formula introduced in the previous game, overall I had a lot of fun playing through it. There are far more quests and free-form content in this game which feels much less of a chore to play through than BotW as there are often many different solutions to a single puzzle or means to completing quests. Most of the Shrines are more interesting than in BotW and I wanted to complete each one I found rather than ignoring half of them in the previous game, since they felt more like a speedbump rather than worthwhile content.

I will say that some of the new mechanics introduced such as ultra-hand and fusing do get a bit tedious after about 30 hours of play. If you go into this game expecting a traditional Zelda type experience, you may feel the same. However, if you’re going into knowing what to expect such as spending a lot of time exploring and going at your own pace, you’ll find it much more rewarding.

I also found that the story was very lacklustre and far too predictable. Obtaining each stone felt like striking off a checklist each time, especially since the cutscenes and video sequences played out in almost the exact same way every time. I found this by far to be the laziest part of the game given how diverse the exploration was, only to be met with cookie cutter story sequences on what should have been the main parts of the experience.

Leading on from that, the main dungeons for each of the sages were great and spiced things up quite bit since they were all very different to each-other and added a diverse set of challenges (often including the new abilities present in TotK). It was also satisfying seeing the calamity reverse itself after defeating the bosses which were the cause of the gloom. The boss fights were also versatile and interesting with a decent amount of challenge.

Overall I’d say TotK is worth playing over BotW, although it takes a certain type of player to want to do most or all of the side content since there is so much of it and it’s often very free-form and samey. I still think Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game ever created and whilst TotK is decent, it has not displaced the conciseness of a linear and much darker Zelda game with a more abstract story. I think Nintendo should continue to make games as dark as OOT and even Majora’s Mask as the atmosphere I find far more enticing.

I would give TotK 9/10 if the story was at least in the same ballpark as OOT, but it’s simply a disappointment. Don’t let this put you off though as it’s still very much worth playing as it does so many things very well.

The underground areas are the most boring pathetic thing they could have added. Kilometers of copy-pasted landscape in the dark with nothing going on, horribly boring experience. The sky islands are… nice, I guess? Shrines and dungeons did improve, but it’s not what makes this game great.

Still, the ability to jump high in the sky kills ground exploration. Ultrahand is a fun mechanics but it’s slower and sluggish in everything you may want to accomplish with that. There’s always an easier faster solution.

    Great game, bad sequel.

There are new things like the ability to create basically anything you can think of, and some nice mechanics like rewinding time on objects or going through any type of ceiling. There is a subterranean underworld which i honestly feel was ANNOYING and repetitive, the sky islands were nice tho. They sort of brought back the classic Dungeons, which is good. Overall a must play, just stop repeating like parrots that this is the best zelda ever. IT'S NOT, that spot still belongs to Ocarina of Time, that to this day millions of people still play and stream it.

    Review from a non-Nintendo fan.

TOTK builds on a great foundation but does not get rid of some issues and does not add much substantial except the obvious building mechanic.

    Animation/Cutscene:
The amount of times I mash buttons to skip animations, cutscenes etc. is ridiculous. If the aim is to make you wear out your controller they have succeeded. Can we please have cutscenes for first few times when opening a chest and after that a much much quicker one unless its a cool item inside? And it's not just chests, its cooking, upgrading clothing etc. Whenever you have to cook 10x of something or upgrade 10x, it's just a button mashing fest.

    QOL:
Very few QOL that we have had since forever in other games. Why can't we sell several items at once? Why can't we move around the shields weapons etc. in the order we want? So much that just feels incredibly dated.

    World Issue:
The vast majority of your gametime will not be spent in the new areas, it will be in the same lands as BOTW.
The new areas are cool at first but very shallow if we examine them closely.

The quests are new but most people in this world don't even know who you are, Zelda is well known but the person that ran around Hyrule for XXX hours killing monsters, helping people, saving the world is apparently a complete stranger.

    Reward Drip:
There is 152 shrines in this game, they are very small puzzles but is a must do since you gain health by them.
There is a 1000 seeds in this game, which are necessary for the various inventory slots.

These things are called "fun exploration" in Zelda, but in all other open world games, gamers hate these "collect XXXX of this" and "XXXX of that". I'm not sure how Zelda gets away with it, I would much rather have 50 Shrines with three times bigger puzzles and 300 seeds to hunt, with three times the hunting.

I get it, "there is an overabundance so all players get a baseline of health/inventory" but that doesn't take away from how simple and boring the shrines often are. Some have more animations/cutscenes than content.
"But it's good how some teach you how the game works!" yeah that's great, too bad they are completely optional, that would make sense if the 1 shrine was the same for everyone, and the 10th etc. that would actually make sense because they would get increasingly complex and it would make sure everyone got to learn combat, physics solutions etc.

So basically you are given a vast world to explore and every time you stumble upon something the reward is a 1/10000 drip.
If you're very very lucky you will stumble upon a unique item but there is never a good clear indication that "hey, what you're doing here is leading towards something cool".

It is almost as Nintendo is expecting you to Google/Youtube "best armor" and "best weapons" instead of having clear quests that give you more than 100 rupees and a meal.

Which I have been doing because I don't want to spend XXX hours looking around for actual cool items/content like an addict.

    Weapons:
We can fuse stuff with stuff! Cool! But why does some items just glue on the tip of my sword and some transform my sword into something actually cool?
Why does a scythe still move like a staff? Or a scimitar still have exact same movement as a Longsword?

I could probably go on but it boils down to not enough unique changes and not a game that does not respect your time.

It is still a very fun game but it is more a reskin than another GOTY.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
