This game was amazing. It added on and continued things from Breath of the Wild and made them better. The story was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed the combat with the fuse ability. The performance issues in Tears of the Kingdom are majorly masked by the exceptional presentation and engrossing explorative experience that it offers.

Super rough start except for some cool moments. that initial sky area does NO service to the rest of the game. I had so many frame rate issues there and jumping out into the island after the title plays was just embarrassing for the switch frankly. really glad it improved after that A LOT. seemed that once i left that area the frame rate and visuals improved to a standard I am happy to look at. gameplay is great 90% of the time when your free of that evil island. after much play I am willing to sacrifice that first area and say it is far better than breath of the wild so far but could be improved drastically in many ways and doesn't feel quite as "thought out" as BOTW did but is better none the less through quality of life features if nothing else. It is a great game but that makes the bad things REALLY stand out because most of it is a real masterclass in exploration. For example: i gotta say it. The depths are really boring... such a shame I really enjoy my time with the game but I'm spending most of my time on the surface or the sky cause every time i go down there i feel none of the joy of exploring. what over there? dunno. can't see it. lacks all of the "oooh what's that" that the surface and sky have. feels barren probably intentionally but that doesn't mean that it isn't deathly boring down there. I cannot emphasise enough that the land and sky are as great to explore as ever though once you are let loose. so much to do and try. I've done a lot of side adventures/quests too and they have all been fun and and worth playing.
story wise I think it's more interesting than the first game so far. I like time travel stuff but all the dialogue is like they got the janitor to write it. I think the voice acting is uhhhh not the type I enjoy? anyway I just don't vibe with it i don't really know what you'd call this style of voice acting but the script 100% didn't help anyone. very much personal preference stuff and I think i would have been far more willing to overlook it if the script was better.

basically it's better breath of the wild but it has problems that stick out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the games excellence. Will be much better if they make an enhanced version at 60fps on "Switch 2" and improve the depths with dlc or something.

Hey Mr Nintendo add in proper ocean swimming and exploration next time? hmm? for me?

If I gave Zelda BOTW 10/10 I decided to give 9/10 to TOTK because there is nothing revolutionary, this revolution was done by BOTW and it deserved 10/10 Nintendo was rude to experiment and did a perfect job.

For that TOTK just improve some details on BOTW but not revolutionary at all

With side quests that will take you across all the maps, you will always have something to do. In addition to the amazing story that is lifted even further up by the extraordinary voice acting, and memorable music, Tears of the Kingdom’s story will be one that people will look back at as a classic. Not to mention, the unique gameplay mechanics, such as fuse and ultrahand to help each player have an experience that is specifically unique to them. With so much to do in this game, the seventy-dollar price tag is definitely worth it and is a must for the Nintendo Switch. That being said, I am rating The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom a nine out of ten. Expand

TotK is also a technical masterpiece achieving a level of interactivity that few games could, even in PS5 and Xbox. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I legitimately can not understand people reviewing this game. Most as far as I can tell are in two camps "It's not a Zelda game therefore it's bad" (which would normally be fine but they base there reviews as if they're ranking against other zelda games), and two "It reuses too much of the previous game". I have played this game for at least 50 hours now and I have completed maaaaybe a third of this games available content, and I've completed about half of the main story, not once did I ever feel like "Man, I've seen these land formations before" or "I've done this before". It just doesn't happen. The sky islands, the depths, the very way you traverse the world is completely different.

Some people dislike the building aspects, it's a fairly minor role outside of shrine puzzles, which is when the building aspects shine the best as creative problem solving. I can understand not liking it, but the game doesn't require you to interact with it pretty much 99% of the time outside of it. You can explore exactly how you did in breath of the wild. Climb up a cliff, paraglide off a cliff, swim up a river, ride your horse. However for those who want to do DOPE **** you can build hoverbikes and cars and boats and death machines and it's very fun to tie a rocket to a korok and launch it to where it needs to go.

Durability is back, and while I liked it in breath of the wild, it's kinda a non issue in tears of the kingdom. Yes weapons break, but you get so many monster parts for a single weapon that it feels like you always have powerful weapons ready to go, which helps encourage you to actually fight monsters rather than just avoid it to prevent weapon damage. The game gives multiple fuse parts which helps you decide what resources you're willing to spend, so if enemies are clumped together, using a bomb flower on an arrow to finish the fight faster is something you'll consider very naturally.

The dungeons still aren't dungeony enough for me, they still behave more simmilar to divine beasts. However, this does not mean the temples aren't fun, they're still designed to take advantage of breath of the wilds unique freedom of movement. The story is also way better than breath of the wild it constantly has you asking questions and it's a genuine joy to receive memories to unlock a little bit more of what exactly happened.

Peak around the corner there's a falling rock to take you to a sky island, there's a chasm to jump in, another cave another well another pack of mobs another camp here's a stable with a quest go talk to some people. Litterally side tracked the game there's so much to do and explore it just teeters on the brink of being overwhelming.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In my 20 hours of playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, I have been taken aback. What I expected was a game that felt almost if not the exact same way as its predecessor Breath of the Wild. But no, I was wrong. When you first launch the game, it takes a whole different route than previous Zelda titles. It throws you into the game with Zelda exploring underneath the castle. That right there was a sign of what is to come. It showed that Nintendo was not afraid to try new things especially with a sequel. Now for the tutorial. There is only one word that I can describe the great sky islands. Linear. Compared to the great plateau, this starting area does not feel open. The reason why the great plateau was so loved was because of how many things you can already do on it. You can choose which shrine to go to first while on the great sky island, you can literally walk along a path that will lead you too all the shrines. Now for the enemies, same but new. Kind of hard to explain but everything feels more...challenging. Keeps you on your toes. The new boss enemies are amazing too. Time to wrap up. Tears of the Kingdom is an amazing game and I truly believe that this game will easily win Game of the Year. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom took everything about its predecessor and flipped it on its head. Everything from the music, to the game play mechanics have been increased ten fold. If you like your hand being held for the entirety of a game, this game is not for you. Links four main abilities some would call gimmicky, but I would call them a unique set of powers that allow the players to traverse the expanded world of Hyrule however they imagine. Although you no longer have the champions abilities from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, you’re still given all the tools necessary to complete any challenge thrown your way. That’s what makes this game so amazing. You have to go out of your way to reap what you sow. There is no other way around it. This game is very rewarding for your hard work. When it came to building vehicles, it was a bit clunky at first but the more you practice the more you get the hang of it. The frame rate in this game can drop at times, but it’s so amusing it’s forgivable. The story through memories was a bit of a let down I must say. I was really hoping they’d deviate from its previous title in order to keep things fresh. I would say the same about its tutorial, seeing as you start with obtaining Link’s 4 abilities through shrines. Although it’s the same engine, map, mechanics, and characters, it’s approach to the overall open world story telling was a bit too similar to Breath of The Wild. These are the only small complaints I had of the game as I was too distracted by having a jolly good time. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom took the foundation of Breath of The Wild and built upon it. That’s what makes a direct sequel work really well in my opinion. Keeping things similar enough but not too close is a hard line to walk and I think the developers did a fantastic job at towing it. Overall the game is rewarding despite its small similarities from its previous title and will keep you thinking hard the entire way. Expand

Tears of the Kingdom takes the concepts laid out by Breath of the Wild and brings them to a fine polish.

The map has been altered slightly and events have shifted enough to properly reflect the passage of time. Despite the surface layer having the same base geography, the new additions of landmarks and the completely different mechanics change the nature of traversing the world entirely. I know where various specific places are on the map, but getting to them isn't the same as it was. It is a whole different challenge, one that I relish. The addition of various caves around the map is a nice little distraction. There were some incredible surprises inside some of them, and a few that caused me genuine terror I wasn't ready for.

The sky layer is definitely the place where the dev team tested all of the new mechanics behind Link's new abilities. The variety of little puzzles and interactions you can find there are surprising. it is very much reminiscent of the outer lying sky islands of Skyward Sword, but there is far more to do in this game than in that one. There are clearly places you are intended to reach later on in the game, but given enough time and effort, you can reach them at just about any point in the game. I encountered one specific place where there was an enemy that ended me a number of times before I was able to run away. Were I better player I may have stood a chance, though.

The Depths layer offers an experience I haven't encountered before in a Zelda game. It is a challenge to just survive there. I spent a good hour during one session traversing the underground and barely uncovered a fraction of the map, yet the number of things I found to do and enemies to fight caught me off guard, and I was trying to avoid most of them. There are things that will jump out at you from any corner available down there, even from the ground beneath your feet. I also met a face I wasn't expecting down there, but was very glad to see again.

The dungeons of this game are leagues ahead of those found in Breath of the Wild. The challenges offered by them force you to think about what you're doing. Some solutions where fairly straight forward in hindsight, but coming to those conclusions in the first place was a delight. The bosses are given a spectacular presentation, and offer just the right level of challenge. I felt good after completing them.

This game is not perfect. While I haven't encountered any graphical or framerate issues, and don't think I've encountered any bugs, there is a certain tedium to equipment management that is less enjoyable.

Having said that, I do enjoy finding new pieces of things to attach to other tools I've collected to create new and interesting tools. There's one specific item dropped by a specific type of world boss that I've already taken a liking to and regularly go back to obtain for my weapons. You are also still required to have a great variety of tools on you at any given time if you want to be thorough in your exploration. I've discovered a number of tools already that are a must have for exploring certain sections of the map.

The new mechanics of this game are a genuine joy to experiment with. I've been thoroughly enjoying testing the limits of what the abilities can do. There are a number of things that can be done in this game which were simply not possible or were otherwise too complex for those like myself to do in the previous title, but the new mechanics have brought forth numerous new possibilities for interaction with the engine. There are some times when I find myself missing the powers of the prior game, but those times are few and far between, and that does not detract from the experience.

If you enjoyed Breath of the Wild, you will enjoy this game. If you haven't played Breath of the Wild, I highly encourage you to do so before picking this game up. The experience is not the same.

All of these combine to make Tears of the Kingdom immediately one of the most amazing games I've ever played.

Unfortunately, on its native hardware there are plenty of framedrops during normal gameplay and people used to 4k 60fps resolution will be disappointed. Performance is the only reason I won't give TotK a 10/10.

BUT. It’s good, I keep coming back to it and then I get lost adventuring for hours, I am treating it the same way I treated BOTW 6 years ago. Go in blind and see what you find. It’s not a 10, I didn’t even really think it was a 9 at first, I was hovering at a 5 at best when I started (excluding the initial bit with Zelda WHICH IS AWESOME!) but it grows on you once it stops holding your hand and just lets you go wild and explore, a bit like BOTW (which I similarly hated when I first started playing).

I will sink many an hour into this game I think. I might even think it’s a 10 when I get a bit more into it, as I did with BOTW

A deserving sequel to Breath of the Wild. While those who disliked the BOTW formula will likely not enjoy this title, I am glad Nintendo took the chance and gave us such a unique and interesting game. The sandbox is an amazingly wacky joy to play in, the sense of exploration still present around every corner, and the overall polish is something most games don't bother with these days.

Ps) lots of people are reviewing this game negatively. 95% of these people are trolls or haven't played the game, most of them just talk about how its a 70$ cash grab reusing assets when the game is so much more than that and the reused assets can actually make a positive impact on the experience. Now the other 5 percent is completely valid, some people just don't like the new botw gameplay and story telling, completely fair. This game is very good though I wish I could give it a 10 I want to realistically rate this game so I don’t send the wrong message. If you enjoyed the shrines and puzzles of the last game then you will most likely enjoy this game. Some complaints I have is mostly technical issues but otherwise there is only one thing I don’t like. The game doesn’t run so well because the switch was pushed to the limit with this game. The only non technical thing I have to complain about is the lack of new things in the over world. Sure there are new towns but I wished some areas geographically changed a little bit, but not too much to the point that the over world is unrecognizable.Yes, I do think it was worth the hype but, there are some things they could have done better. If you read this all I thank you for seeing my opinion. But in general the game was very good (or at least so far). The abilities were all very fun to play around with (specially fuse and ultra hand) I also liked the more creativity that could be used to build machines so there is always something to do even after you get hundreds of Korok seeds and 100% the game. (Who doesn’t hate Korok seeds) I don’t like Korok seeds because obviously it is a pain to get 999 of them when they are so cleverly hidden.

If you are a Zelda fan I can't imagine you would be disappointed by the scope of the new content and expansion of the ultimate lore. This is not the same map... While there are familiar landmarks, the land of Hyrule has been twisted and broken apart making this a whole new map including the vast network of the new underground caverns and the floating islands that await exploration. It's entertaining to see people try to affect this games meta score by throwing out review bombs and still not making a dent in its high marks due to the overwhelming positive reaction to this game. If you can't stand this game because it's popular and positive reviews, maybe your problem isn't this game..

the sky may be a bit scarce it works and the main challenge is getting to some of the islands.
people saying content isnt added are just wrong, ultra hand and ascend completely change the way you play, in breath if u wanted to climb a mountain u would spend 10 mins whistle running, in this game if u take the time to find a cave you can get some useful loot and get to the top of the mountain. the depths are the size of the overworld map and is very rewarding to explore.
overall, if u rush and do the objectives and treat it like any rpg this game isnt as fun as if u were to treat it as an open world. be brave and fight the bosses and jump into the depths. amazing game.

(I will re-edit this comment when I finish the game I already completed two dungeons the one by gerudo and zora and im on the dungeons of the gorons) I thought the game was very good but the map is very similar to the old game in some parts and in very different ones, for example, gerudo has changed a lot I wasn't recognizing gerudo I got lost knowing where everything is in the last game but the land of lanayaru (zora) is identical to the one in the last game I knew where everything was I didn't get lost once and the dungeon and the boss are very easy i got there and finished it in 1 day but other than that i really liked hudson's quests and items i built an amazing house and i wasted a whole day just decorating haha and i had a lot of fun making koltin's scenery and it inspired me to complete the monsters album but one thing that I didn't really like was the map that with so much movement it was easy to go through it all and I liked the little ghosts of the people who helped you in the dungeons following you around the map better than the powers from the past game Expand

The improvements from Breath of the Wild, and the use of characters and evelopment of them further has got to be one of my favourite things. And the final fight was absolutely incredible. I just wish we could have seen more development of Ganondorf, and seen more of what drove him to want more power. But this has taken the spot from Twilight Princess as my favourite Zelda game. I loved the new mechanics, especially being able to fuse weapons and build structures. It added a layer of complexity that I truly enjoyed. I experienced a few framedrops here and there, but they were barely noticable, and for a game with as complex as this one, i'm truly amazed at how incredibly well it runs Expand

I really like what they have done with the game and this is no DLC to Breath of the wild, Breath of the wild was the demo for Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo really has outdone them selves with this game.

Most useful glitches from BOTW are patched in TOTK, but it still has a few glitches inside. Overall this game is one of the GOATs

9/10, would be 10/10 if it wasn't for the FSR or whatever else that makes the game not look as pretty as Botw and the fps drops

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. People need to understand that this game is a direct sequel to the previous zelda, breath of the wild. Of course every sequel will try to maintain some aspects of the old one and bring new things in. And that's exactly what this game did. All the new mechanics are cool and change the perception of the world you had with BOTW. The dungeons are absolutely nice, a little short, but creative. Loved the thematic. The bosses surprised me, some of them are more Than "hit-the-eye-new-zelda-like". And the music is gorgeous, you can clearly hear the new themes and the old ones.

But my complaint is about the game being a direct sequel and doesn't connecting too much with BOTW, where are the divine beasts? All the sheikah tech and what's the relation to Calamity Ganon? Loved the story of this one, even though it felt like Ocarina Of Time 2, Ganondorf was the perfect villain.

TLDR: Whether you like TOTK will be subjective, but if you liked the premise and feeling of BOTW and other expansive open world adventure games, I would highly suggest trying it out. It is easy to lose at least 100 hours just exploring. My only problem are the occasional frame rate drops which shouldn't affect the game too much, especially during normal gameplay.

    Long Part:
First off, I'd like to say- this game is amazing. A lot of the features of the game are subjective, such as the building and the way they game is. Others have commented that it's a "rehashed" or just another DLC don't really see some of the sights of the game, or have commented that this isn't a Zelda game. On top of the BOTW map, the new areas increases the map size by at least x2.5. As a result of this, it's easy to get sidetracked in the game, which makes it almost impossible to always stay on one path. The developers have been able to successfully add some new dungeon aspects to the game, which makes solving puzzles much more entertaining than tedious. The new abilities (especially building) allow for a lot more creativity, and whether it be a good or bad thing, you can almost always find an unintended way to finish something. The story, if you like that sort of thing, has more impact that BOTW's story (subjectively of course) which always is a good thing. One problem is the framerate drops every once in a while based on the location, but the best solution I've had if it happens often is to restart my switch. Based on the size of the game, I'm completely surprised that it can even run on the Switch, but the frame drops are sometimes very noticeable. Anyways, I hope this helps anyone who is considering buying the game.

Even though I feel like I've only scratched the surface about this games mechanics and world, TOtK takes BOtW and expands upon it while also making the game feel almost completely fresh. Although I do wish the main world was a complete new map, I understand Nintendo was experimenting and thankfully with the sky world and other new locations allows the game to feel fresh enough.

Regarding fps, yes the game runs at 30fps but then again so do many other switch games... so instead of critiquing the game, critique the switch. TOtK runs shockingly well with only minor lag spikes when opening up your ultrahand and the cell shaded art allows the game to look stunning.

One serious critique I do have with the game though is HOW HARD THE FONTS ARE TO READ SOMETIMES... Instead of keeping UI menus the same from BOtW... TOtK decides to make more light coloured ui elements with also brighter fonts requiring me to squint my eyes to fully read certain things on the screen.

Back to positives, TOtK expands on combat from BOtW by allowing you to fuse things to your equipment to add extra offense or defense. Sadly you can't unattach these things without destroying the object that is attached to it but I think thats to prevent people from taking heavy objects easily across the map by simply attaching it to a shield or something.

TOtK is well worth the investment as much as BOtW was back in 2017. If you enjoyed BOtW you will definitely enjoy it's sequel near to the same amount or even greater.

A great sequel that greatly changes up the way you play the game. While the game frequently dips below 30fps it never takes away from the fantastic experience. The story, much like Breath of the Wild is lacking for a Zelda game but is still a step in the right direction. Truly a fun game for Zelda fans and newcomers alike!

Good game, better than BOTW in every aspect. I loved the story and the boss fights aren't all the same
like in BOTW. Also the dungeons are a lot better, because they have variety. There is only one flaw: You can't PET dogs.

A jogabilidade é simplesmente incrível. Você pode construir qualquer coisa e fazê-la funcionar, o que é realmente impressionante. Além disso, o jogo apresenta uma variedade de puzzles, e quase todos eles são interessantes. Você pode encontrar diferentes maneiras de resolvê-los..

A trilha sonora é envolvente.

Minha primeira vez escrevendo cara eu gostei do texto.

There's so much to do in the game that could sink hours of gameplay and you're free to do a lot of stuff. Story is great, gameplay is awesome, npc interactions is great. Not really a fan of the low durability weapons but I get that it is what it's gameplay is.

The good thing is that, thanks to the limited possibilities, the creators couldn't go crazy and swing for hundreds of game miles. Instead, they created what could be called Elden Ring in a travel pack. [Issue#328]

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
