    Each kingdom in this game is super unique. From the bowser kingdom to the cap these kingdoms are awesome. The new donk city stage has lots of things with donkey kong and it was awesome. The 100% side of things isn't the greatest but collecting each moon is a blast. Unfortunately the game is easy to cheat for 999 moons with the buying system and it still counts to the total.     As for me best game for switch, i'm playing with my son 5 years old we got a lot of pleasure playing this game. Incredible!

    An incredibly great game. The graphics, the design, the levels, the ideas ... in general everything about the game fits perfectly. The only thing which is really sad: the game is really short and really easy, it was forgotten very fast after I finished it.

Mario Odyssey is no exception. The game is a spectacular return to the 3D Mario formula that was established by 64 and expanded on by Sunshine.

    While graphics aren’t the most important thing in    Super Mario Odyssey is an instant classic for Mario and Nintendo fans of all time. The Switch has shown time and time again that with the limitations it has, great games can come from the hybrid. Mario Odyssey is no exception. The game is a spectacular return to the 3D Mario formula that was established by 64 and expanded on by Sunshine.

    While graphics aren’t the most important thing in video games, thay do need to look good. Nintendo pulled off graphics that look both realistic and cartoony. Every single kingdom has its own themes and color palette that differentiates each kingdom. While every ‘bonus room’ looks very similar and simple, they don’t look too bland.

    The controls in Odyssey are fluid and an absolute dream to play with. Just jumping around as Mario is always entertaining, and crappy adds so many new movement options. Not even counting captures, Mario can move in so many new ways and they’re all fun.

    While the captures are fun, they do get stale after some time. It is fun to capture things and move around as them, but some are only used for a few things and the capture mechanic isn’t as fleshed out as i hoped it was. The new enemies are great as usual, but many fan favorites weren’t included.

    The story is basically the same as any other mainline Mario game, and while it gets the job done, I wish it was expanded on a little bit.

    The moons at first are very satisfying to get, but they do get tedious after a while. The ones just floating out in the open without any challenge and seem to only be there to bloat out the moon count are irritating.

    Overall, the game is great to play and control, but it does get bland and stale at times.    … Expand

    A nice surprise, so much to do in such beautiful environments. Only downfall is a quite short story, I would have enjoyed a couple extra worlds more for the postgame rather than collecting coins. Anyway, one of the best games for Switch, a must buy.

    I love this game. It's a real return to form for the classic exploring-based early 3D Mario's. My *only* complaint is the overabundance of moons.

    This game is the definition of fun. Movement is fluid hell, it's fun just jumping around. The new feature of being able to capture enemies is really fun and adds a lot of variety. Even the story is pretty good (for a Mario game). This is the definitive collectathon.

    Mario Odyssey is a really good 3D Mario, it has a good graphic, good gameplay, good boss fights and so on. Why only 9? The thing is, I really Prefer Mario games with levels (like 3D world, galaxy) and the kingdoms are not really big. But I have to say that this is a game which makes only fun.

    This is an amazing game overall and is certainly one of the classics of the switch. I enjoy the games open world feel, the challenge at the finals level of the game, and I do love how you can wear clothes of past references and characters like Waluigi, Luigi, Wario, Abe Diddy Kong. I would have to say this is probably one of the best Mario games in my opinion and was definitely worthThis is an amazing game overall and is certainly one of the classics of the switch.     Its story, well, is Mario. But with plenty of kingdoms to explore while being visually charming and fun to play in new ways that actually work, this is certainly another top-notch first-party title for the Switch.

    How Mario moves, the level design, the music and the capture mechanic is world class. It was fantastic how you can have a second player as cappy.
    The issue I have is forced motion controls. There are plenty of buttons, can't the player choose between motion or button pressing? I also have an issue that some moves cannot be done done in two player mode and    This game is a system seller!

    The moons are the main collectible and is highly motivating to go exploring. I find about 50 moons far too easy to obtain and about 100 too tedious or difficult. Do I really need to bounce a ball 100 times for a moon?

    The game is absolutely packed full of charm and content and brings 3D Mario back to it's beloved roots. It's a well known fact that this is one of the best games on the Switch. Cappy can be thrown by the player to transform into various enemies and other various things, but he can also be used to jump on and can be used to pull off tons of tricks. Mario controls better than ever and the camera feels fluid and is never a problem like its sandbox predecessors. The various Kingdoms in the game are all unique and are all super fun. The Amazing soundtrack acts as fuel and captures the spirit of the Kingdoms. Collecting moons is one of the most fun things about the game as they also offer replayability after you beat the game. The game is a borderline masterpiece as it pulls off everything that makes Mario great and brings them together for a fun experience for everyone.… Expand

I enjoy the 3D sequels but in many respects they just feel like updated versions of prior entries to the sequels rather than their own game. It's a welcome addition and helps the franchise move away from the carbon copy format of the previous entries to the franchise. In the sequel I hope they do even more of this.

    The locations are for the most part beautiful and you can tell the art team had a blast with it. To be honest the best part of the game for me was at the end walking up to Peach's castle and hearing that nostalgic music getting louder as you approached. Not going to let nostalgia affect my rating though. Must-own for anyone who has a Switch.    … Expand

    This is a great game. When I first started playing this, I instantly fell in love with it. Aside from the difficulty, I love this game, but hardcore fans will try to 100% the game, which does present a challenge.

    This is a really nice game that you should consider buying if you like platforming. At first I was a little disappointed because the main campaign was way too easy, but as you are progressing it becomes more challenging and if you try to complete all the power moons you will find some hard challenges that are satisfying to beat.     I loved playing this Mario game, but I feel that Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on the Wii are still my favourite Mario games (maybe Mario 64 as well) as they were part of my early childhood. Innovative as any Mario game, the lack of powerups may have brung my interest down a bit, let alone the score down one. 9/10
    Great game, but it could be better.

    As a game, Odyssey is beautiful, creative and most importantly, fun. I can say I will struggle to ever be as enthralled in a Mario game as much as I have with Odyssey.

    + Coole Abwechslung durch die "Übernahme" / Steuerung der Gegner
    + Ausgeglichener Schwierigkeitsgrad
    + Skins etc. sind viele erspielbar und man muss dafür keine Mikro-Tansaktionen machen
    + Umfassender Spielumfang
    +/- Viele Rätsel, jedoch etwas viele collectables, insbesondere die Masse an Monde

    Certainly one of Mario's best 3D games, but I think it could be better. The soundtrack is very good, the gameplay too, but I think the only defect is the clothing system. I think if it had power-ups like Mario Galaxy it would be more interesting, and the game becomes a little repetitive at the end. However, it diminishes very little in its legacy.

    The game was great. The open worlds were nice and good to have. The controls were tight. But I'm not a fan of motion controls. Mario also has fewer movement options and is less agile then he was in Galaxy and Sunshine. It also needs a hard mode or something, it was too easy.

    El juego se ve hermoso en la switch, es un título muy entretenido y para aquellos que le encanta explorar será un gran videojuego, tiene un montón de coleccionables, puesto que en cada mundo puedes sacar muchas más lunas de las que te pide para continuar la aventura, encontrarlas todas es realmente desafiante.     This was my first mario game, but by the end of it I felt like I'd always known mario. The nostalgia trip in New donk city is amazing! The game's difficulty is also really well balanced, there are a lot of easy moons for beginners, but if you want a challenge, some of the moond and levels are infuriatingly challenging. Incredible replayability.

    I enjoy open world collectathon games and oh boy did I enjoy mario odyssey. Overall top tier 3D Mario game. Doesn’t really have that much replay value after collecting everything except if you like to speed run games.

Loved exploring the Mushroom Kingdom, loved finding every purple coin in amazingly designed New Donk City, loved wandering around Shiveria Town, loved beating the bosses, loved every single opportunity to get another moon and loved bumping into Captain Toad every so often. I LOVED    Personally 9/10, professionally 10/10, and I dare not present that score differently.

    I had some trouble staying focused on this game so I didn't "binge-play" it, after every session feeling like I'm probably not gonna play it ever again but then, every once in a while I just couldn't shake the feeling that I want to play more of it just because of how fun it looks, so I always came back for a few hours and loved every second of it.
    On a more personal note: I wish they had given more incentives to chase after all those moons, since, sure, they were hidden in a lot of creative ways and just seeking them was fun, but I didn't feel encouraged enough to go after all of them because it felt like there was no real reward for that..    … Expand

With all this praise it still has some issues. Some moons are incredibly tedious, the motion controls are not very responsive, checkpoints are very far apart, and the multiplayer is very underwhelming. The triple jump feels great and is easy to line up, the ground pound jump feels great, and cappy might be the best movement tool in any game. I won’t be willing to call this aMario odyssey is a great game.     I loved this game, since I am a big fan of the 3d Marios, I give it a 9, since it was a great game with a great story and gameplay, introduced a lot of great mechanics with the cap throw and other movement technics.     First of all i think you need to play this game. İ highly recommend it. Mario Odyssey is the advanced version of Mario 64. İ hate Mario 64 it was a realy bad game (Mario 64 didn't have any camera control) but Mario Odyssey take the Mario 64 then make it much more colourful and enjoyable.

    Game is one of the best on the switch. Gameplay was really fun and I had a great time playing it. I do think it is slightly overrated however. Still a great game that i would recommend to any person who asks about it.

    Super Mario Odyssey is a game that has pushed 3D Mario Back where it should be, and that place is large open world experiences, and simple linear segments combined. The settings are very unique and and the fact that this game was made for both casual players and speed-runners is so cool. The game is a bit too easy for my liking, but that shouldn't be a reason for not to play this game.

Though it was probably my own fault, since I only collected the bare minimum of required moons to run the ship. My second time around with the game was much more gratifying since I tried to collect as many moons from each world as I could. Even so, I felt the devs should have increased the required amount of moons needed to fuel the ship.

    The underlying structure of game progression is the same. Collect a number of these, unlock new worlds, get to Bowser. But I love the fact that the game didn’t boot me out of the world after collecting a moon. This meant each world could have a crap ton of moons, without any discontinuity. Most of them involved a clever puzzle, mini-game, or hiding spot. Among my favorite were the classic 2D platforming sequences. The gameplay really wasn’t anything special, but something about seeing the oldest Mario game, in the newest Mario game made me smile. Other moons warped me to a separate mini platforming game, usually with a little twist. Most were pretty fun, and changed things up a bit.

    And we can’t talk about Odyssey without talking about the cap, which basically made Mario into Kirby. Taking control of classic Mario baddies was a lot of fun. Even just running around as a goomba was amusing. Each had some ability that would help level progression. Goombas could walk on ice. Latikus could fish out moons. Tanks could blast through rock barriers. Flying drybones could get my past lava. Just a bunch of cool abilities. I found myself throwing my hat at every moving thing to see if I could posses it. My favorite by far were these long legged nut enemies. Winding them up to reach places was a neat way to explore the forest world.    … Expand

    An amazing title that doesn't quite beat Super Mario Galaxy for my favourite 3D Mario game, but there's not much in it. Still one of the greatest platformers ever made. If you own a Switch and don't own this, what are you waiting for?

    This game is a great experience all the way to the end. The kingdoms you visit throughout your journey are unique. I couldn't give it a 10 because the bosses lack originality and platforming challenges often feel lackluster compared to previous Mario entries like the Galaxy series and 3d world.

    You will spend some good hours to colect all the moons. there are some puzzles on the game that are very enjoyfull and some features like the transition to 2D and 3D to get some moons are wonderfull.
    The only thing i can point as an Con is the fact that if you learn how to combo the use of hat and jump the game becames easly to pass, and it loss some of its bright.

    The definitve Mario videogame experience. The way Mario controls in this game is perfect, I never felt a character move so responsive and smooth . Also his moveset is amazing wich helps in the more difficult platform sections. I felt the game very short but that doesn't make it any bad.

There's a fair bit of a padding and a lot of very unmemorable or downright annoying Moons, but at the same time it's very fun and addictive to wonder around one of the kingdoms picking up tonnes of Moons at a time. Very different to previous 3D Marios, and for the most part it works. But less can be more, and would have been in this instance.

    Mario Odyssey is a good game. It has some good songs and some amazing areas, but the main game seems somewhat too easy, this does make sense as it is a game meant for children. The gameplay is fun with Cappy being used to pull off jumps that are impossible without him. Overall, Mario Odyssey is an amazing game that anyone with a Nintendo Switch should play.

For some of the Sub Areas it can be repetative to constantly restart again and agian especialy if you haven't played previous Mario 3D games and the motion controls can be unresponsive but can also be intuitive and a blast if you use the right controlers. If you decide to use the switch pro controler or play in handheld mode it isn't great, the true way to play is with detached joycons. Cappy comes in as Mario's cap is shreaded and cappy is his replacement, cappy can 'capture' (posses) any animate or inaminate object. Frogs, dinosaurs and much more. The multiplayer is horrible, the second player becomes cappy and Mario is left defenceless, cappy can infinatly make mario jump into the air and it isn't a great experience. WIth 40 outfits to buy everyone will sure to give anyone a outfit they like. All in all other than the plot (which does have some diiferences) and the poor pro controler play this game is a masterpeice and should be played, the game is 30 hours of fun. Mario Odyssey is a great game with perfect level design and amazing grafics for a Mario game. I would recomed this to anyone who gets the chance.… Expand

    Game was a blast still haven’t completed it 100% but I did finish the main story in 3 days probably not even 12 hours in total of playtime so I do think the main story was a bit short but still very captivating

    While it was difficult to imagine how Nintendo could top previous 3D Mario adventures, Super Mario Odyssey is nigh-on perfect in almost every way. With the help of Cappy, Mario has never been as fun to control, reaching new heights and, in the hands of a skilled player, accomplishing impossible skips. You need only pick up a controller to see why this is the best modern Mario game ever.

    The best entry to the best platforming series is so ridiculously huge it’s like a theme park made of theme parks. It’s a wonderful tribute to Super Mario 64, but it’s not a lazy homage. Super Mario Odyssey draws inspiration from the superb classic to top it and everything that came after it. [13/2017, p.38]
