Gran juego y excelente paper Mario.

I think that the game is really good overall. The story is nice and it feels good to have Mario and Bowser fight on the same side, against a greater threat. Also, I feel like I am one of the only people who likes the combat system.

    And as always, fantastic soundtrack!

It took me around 50 hours of playing Paper Mario: The Origami King (without any walkthroughs or guides) to complete the game 100% (all treasures, hit blocks, non-bottomless holes, toads, trophies etc.).

My verdict is: 9/10 and here's why (since I know this game is being review-bombed, I'm giving it a 10 though): # battle system # Cons: - yes, there are no permanent partners
It took me around 50 hours of playing Paper Mario: The Origami King (without any walkthroughs or guides) to complete the game 100% (all treasures, hit blocks, non-bottomless holes, toads, trophies etc.).

My verdict is: 9/10 and here's why (since I know this game is being review-bombed, I'm giving it a 10 though):

    # battle system #

    Cons:

    - yes, there are no permanent partners nor exp points, and one could certainly argue if the series has moved on from RPG, then why have a turn-based battle system altogether
    - yes, most bosses are office stationaries

However, in my opinion, there's still enough motivation to battle in that you get a lot of coins (which help you in battles and bosses, as well as purchasing equipment and treasures) and confetti (which you need to cover non-bottomless holes and get harder to get in the open after a while).

    Pros:

    - the puzzle-based, ring system is quite fun and satisfying
    - boss battles are unique and challenge your expectations and strategy
    - because there is no exp progression, you don't need to worry about grinding to advance the story

    # soundtrack #

    No cons here.

Oh man, it's just fantastic. From Wild West themes to traditional Japanese flute, the soundtrack really sets the mood to your adventure. I find myself just walking around Shogun Studios and Autumn Mountains, only to listen to that beautiful soundtrack.

The boss battles have a more metal feel to set the tone and there are sad moments too (no spoilers).

    # visuals #

    No cons here.

The game is colorful and vibrant. Each area is unique, with a special highlight to Shogun Studios and The Great Sea. The effect and sound of confetti orbiting towards you is so good, and every interaction with either the scenario or other characters yields a reaction (most often a funny one).

    # story #

    Cons:

    - it's shorter than I had hoped. =(

It's a simple story, like all Paper Mario games. Not really a con, just, keep in mind that the script is not minding-blowing. It's funny as hell though.

    Pros:

    - there's depth in the characters, you get to relate to and care for them
    - you laugh all the time, the game is super funny, and you actually look forward to saving all the toads, just to hear what they have to say
    - you don't just walk around, you interact with the world in multiple ways and that's awesome
    - Easter eggs, if you explore enough you'll find them

I respect the fans that long for the old Thousand Year Door games (I played it myself and I have it in high, high regard) and I understand how they feel regarding the turn the franchise took.

I myself don't mind the turn they took and I think this is a memorable game, I really enjoyed it and am already looking forward to the next iteration in the franchise. =)

That's it. Half of the Paper Mario series is made of gems. The other is what I like to call the Sticker Star trilogy. They kKIMD OF brougjt back partners but they only follow you for a limited time and have generic names such as Bob-Omb (RIP Bombette and Admiral Bobbery). You cannot control tjem in battle either. They attack but often fail without any player input. Ok so the writing's good but what about the gameplau? Battles are unnecessary. They are gimicky beyond belief. You have to line up enemies in a row before attacking. It goes front brain damaged stupid easy to nearly impossoble to figure out on a timer before you know it. Most people I know, myself included, just skip as many of them as possible. You don't get any EXP from defeating enemies so there's really no point to bother. Like you partners, every NPC is generic. Most of them are Toads and Shy Guys with some other of Bowser's minions thrown into the mix. There is absolutely no originality whatsoever like Paper Mario, The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario had in their character design. The only original characters are Olly (the main villain, at least it's not Bowser this time) and his sister and Mario's partner, Olivia. Olivia is by far the best part of the game. She herself has more charm than the rest of the "Sticker Star" trilogy combined. All in all, the game is a treat for the eyes and a good read (yeah, no voice acting, like we're still in 1999) but certainly not a fun game to play. I highly recommend wathing a let's play on YouTube rather than playing it. Unlike the 1st 3 games in the series, nothing compels me to try to complete the game as much as possible or even replay it. Disappointingggggg.
Literally no challenge at all, as the game gives you the exact amount of moves in order to win without taking one hit. One can finish the game without getting hit once.

My gripes with the battle system lie with the lack of incentive and low difficulty making them at times feel pointless. Puzzles in the game are great though they feel modest of what could’ve been achieved in complexity and frequency, making some environments less mechanically interesting. However boss fights are incredibly creative and challenging. While it was nice to see some return of RPG elements it’s still disappointing to not see a full return to form but what’s here is bounds ahead of what recently came before it. Expand

I have been totally excited to get my hands on a new Paper Mario and have always been a huge fan of Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door, which is a classic.

The new title in the series has funny dialogues and great cutscenes but fights are a total turn-off. The circles and enemy placements are not really fair. And in boss fights it gets really annoying to place all the rings

Apart from that enemies do quite a lot more damage than expected when Mario is hit

Would have loved to see some normal stage fights again...

Now imagine these puzzles embedded in an adventure/exploration game in a way that consistently interrupted the flow of exploration. And imagine that, for this interruption, you get literally zero reward or incentive.

Okay. Open your eyes. The game you were imagining is Paper Mario: the Origami King.

And like the botched Paper Mario games that came before it (Sticker Star and Color Splash), this game's core mechanics are completely broken. If you are a fan of the original two games (which were actually RPGs), then be prepared for some extremely heavy-handed, profoundly condescending treatment from Nintendo.

Nintendo knows you want RPG mechanics. They know you want a buddy system during fights. They know you hate battle stickers that are consumed as you fight pointless fights. They flaunt their awareness of these things throughout this game. They give you a pseudo-buddy who does next to nothing during fights. They appear to do away with stickers, but they're still there--they've just had their name changed to "Weapons" (which break after several uses). This is Nintendo-knows-best at its absolute worst.

I recommend avoiding this game the way I recommend not hitting your thumb with a hammer.

Although I could eventually solve them myself, I had to help numerous people in my household who couldn't despite the game being aimed at said kids and it only shows Nintendo's core audience can't even solve them. The stories for the recent entries come across as being basic since Miyamoto's stance that the Paper Mario franchise doesn't need a story and is nothing more than a forgetful adventure fueled with jokes you're not going to remember. You're progressing through an empty world for literally no reason and they're only adding a story wherever it's necessary, though a lack of one actively leaves you not only wanting more - but feeling a desire to replay older Paper Mario titles if you've had the joy of doing so.

I also dislike the characters, especially Olivia who is annoying, comes off as empty headed and unfunny to the point where you just want her to shut up and quit pointing out the obvious, which you can tell is to give Nintendo's child audience a sense of direction since this games so bad at explaining how to get from point A to B. For an origami character, she's rather flat when it comes to writing. None of the other characters stand out to me either, they're as bland as their designs. The only good thing about this is the music and the stage design (albeit each world being small and lacking exploration), however that's not enough to keep me going through a mundane game

This only made me appreciate Super Paper Mario's combat and I had issues with that. I really dislike this game and the recent direction of Paper Mario. Mario & Luigi shouldn't have died for this

I understand that we always look for a new paper Mario game, and want it to be exactly like thousand year door. And I am also on the boat, but at the same time I also would like to recognize, in my personal opinion, what I think is a fantastic game. I thought the same about Super Paper Mario Wii, And I have not felt the same about a paper Mario game since. As I was not a fan of the 3DS paper Mario nor the Wii U version.

In Paper Mario origami king, although it does take away the RPG elements, Taking away our judgments of what we perceive a Paper Mario game to be, this game is really fantastic. The game makes the story very clear, at least in terms of determining who the main enemy is. Like most RPG Mario games, it has great humor, and a great cast of characters to boot. The different worlds it takes you through, are inventive, and offered wildly different challenges. There is a different game play throughout the game, making it continuously fresh. And it does find moments to tug at your heart strings, which is truly amazing for any game, let alone a Mario game. If there’s one thing I would like to see in future games, is more inventive boss character models.
The bosses in this game, in terms of their dialogue, we’re so creative and made you want to crush them, but, each major boss in this game happens to be some type of tool, you can find in a office setting. That part was somewhat disappointing, But, the boss battles themselves were really fun, inventive, and very humorous. They also provided a great challenge, the more and more you play the game.

I know puzzle Solving, in your battles, may not be everybody’s cup of tea. But paper Mario found a way to make that fresh, by giving you extra boost, whenever you solve a puzzle, while battling. It’s easier to look on YouTube, and look at the battle system, to see what I’m referring to. But, reward for solving a puzzle, getting extra points for damaging enemies, and the satisfaction of ending a very hard boss battle, is very tremendous in this game.

Overall, I would highly recommend this game, I would recommend that anyone played, play with your family, because of the cast of characters, soundtrack, the humor and everything in between, To me, this is one of Mario’s greatest outings, and it is a game that I will personally go back to from time to time.

You don't get XP from the battles anyway, so i try to stay clear from battles when possible. Shame, could've been a 9 or a 10 if not for the battle system.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is just pure and simply fun, it’s not as good as the first three Paper Mario games but it’s definitely better than sticker star and color splash. The game is also humorous and clever and it really tries to go for that Kirby’s epic yarn/yoshi’s wooly world aesthetic (but with paper instead of yarn) with every thing being made from a different material. The battles aren’t too bad, there is definitely a reason to battle by getting extra coins and confetti now that items are super expensive and there are “not-so bottomless holes” lying around. And while the partners aren’t as interesting and as quirky like in ttyd, they are still very cute and lovable. With that being said though, there are a few problems. first of all, the boss fights, the vellumentals, while cool looking, are fairly generic. like the earth vellumental is just a turtle and the water vellumental is just a dragon. Not only that, but the Legion of stationery, while they are funny with their writing, are just normal house hold objects. The exception being the rubber band man you fight later on in the game. I kind of wish that the other members of the legion of stationery were like the rubber band dude. The battle system (for me at least) isn’t that bad. It’s new and unique and it does get challenging later on in the game. They also didn’t bring back exp for this game but they still gave a good reason for battling. Money. Since items are so expensive now and you can’t just get coins from platforming, the devs decided to give you a lot of coins for winning a battle. So if you need to buy something just run into the nearest enemy and battle away. What I’m trying to say is that coins are sort of the new exp points. And in true Paper Mario fashion, it can get pretty dark and depressing. One of the new characters (Bobby the bob-omb) back tracks through his life before he explodes to save another character. AND THEN THAT CHARACTER IS THEN STRICKEN WITH GRIEF FOR THE DEATH OF HER FRIEND. So this game does get sad. This game isn’t perfect but it is still worth trying out and who knows, this game might be better than expected. And one more thing “shy guys finish last” is garbage and it should go die in a hole. This doesn’t ruin the game but this section relies on RNG and it is absolutely no fun whatsoever Expand

This game is great. The story is entertaining and the characters are interesting. If you're a completionist, there are lots of collectibles to find. The battle system is creative, but can get a bit repetitive.

The visuals of the game are beautiful, very detailed and colorful. The dialogue is fun too.

Overall the best Paper Mario game so far. 8/10

so i just finished PAPER MARIO: THE ORIGAMI KING. the review. non spoiler review, not paid to review, all my own personal opinions.

    first the good
    -graphics are always great
    -gameplay feels smooth
-lots of new characters and story to indulge yourself into until the next big nintendo game releases
-new mechanics that bring a fresh style into the new series especially compared to sticker+color

now the bad...which is a lot
-confetti is just as bad as paint. please stop doing this
-story is very lackluster and doesnt pull you in like past games do.
-you dont remember the characters. for majority of the game since i barely heard olivias name i thought her name was candice

-the new fighting system still sucks and i hate it with a passion. after you get used to it you still learn to hate it with new stuff they bring in mid/end way into the game
-theirs no replayability. this is a game you'll play once and probably never want to touch again

-literally you cant replay it. you'll find out why when you get it lol.
-no actual rpg elements here with no xp so you dont have an incentive to actually fight. i was going out of my way to dodge every single little fight i could.
-bosses are horrible and so are mini bosses

    OVERALL
personal score 4/10 i put it in the same category with sticker and color. this is nothing of a throwback to the good old games.

score i would give people: 5/10 if you are bored and want to try paper mario then give it a shoot. if youve played past games not worth money.

With that being said, I really miss the RPG-type story with complex and developed characters. And yeah, about that, I really don't know why there are like 30 NPCs that are all toads with no unique features, like maybe one or two are kinda memorable because their personalities were funny and that's it.
The combat, while being interesting at first, becomes a little bit repetitive (specially when you repeat the exact puzzles with the same enemy placement, wth Intelligent Systems? you do well in that regard with Fire Emblem). Also, the coin system is handled poorly, you can win all the battles in the first third of the game without using them, and by the time you need them, you have a looooot of them, enough to never worry about them in the entire game again.

In conclusion, the game was fun, looked pretty, and the Paper Mario humor was there. It has two main flaws which make me prefer Super Paper Mario and TTYD, but at least the coins aren't as broken as cards in Color Splash and, well, we shouldn't even talk about Sticker Star, let's say that game never existed.
If the main reasons you liked Paper Mario before Sticker Star were story and combat, don't buy, you'll just get tilted for no reason. Otherwise, I'd say wait for a $40 sale on the eShop or something like that.

That being said, it feels like each new game in the series is the same bland, generic, linear game we’ve seems since Sticker Star. There’s no heart or “Mario” vibe given, it could just as easily be a generic puzzle game with a Mario skin plastered on it. Characters aren’t unique, and there was not one character or even that was memorable.

I hope Nintendo can finally attempt to do something acceptable in the next release, and why they can’t just do what worked before. Strange how they release nearly identical 2D “New” Mario games yet the Paper Mario Series always attempts something new that falls on its face every time.

Lets start with the fact that Paper Mario, the Origami King is not an RPG. Its just not. Its an adventure puzzle game with some very light RPG elements to it. If you will come to the game expecting a RPG you will surely be disappointed. Also, if you comer expecting a high octane gameplay experience, this game might not be for you.
The Origami King is a beautiful, charming, funny and relaxing adventure. Everything about it serves that purpose- the crisp graphics, the amazing music, the excellent dialogue and humor. When playing the game I really felt that I was adventuring in a new land, meeting friends and gorgeous vistas along the way. The game is packed full of secrets and collectibles, and so much thought have gone to every line of text and every object placed in the game. Again, if you were to rush through the text and just want to push forward, I wouldn't have as much fun, but that style of gameplay is NOT what The Origami King is all about.
The game world is designed in such a way that almost all the time you interact with new story or gameplay mechanics, cool minigames, interesting puzzles and quests, remote resting spots and much more. The writing is one of the best I ever experienced, with many moments that warmed my heart or made me laugh, and after playing through almost 2 of the 5 streamers, I feel extremely attached to my travel companions.
The only two complaints so far are the economy of the game being kind of broken, at least at the beginning, as I often have about 15,000 coins just through exploring, and healing items at the shop coming very cheap. Also, the combat, while very fun in my opinion, is one of the weak spots of the game compared to the other parts, but this is only a MINOR issue, and is not NEARLY as bad as the review bombers present it. Even if you are 100% not the target audience, there is absolutely no way that a game like this deserves less than a 5 (and obviously not a 0.)
At the end of the day, the game isn't for everyone, but if you are the kind of gamer that likes to lean back and explore a beautiful, interactive world and wants to go on a real journey- I think the game is absolutely perfect for that. I can't wait to jump back in to it very soon.
Paper Mario the Origami King is a gem, and thanks to the Thousand Year Door fans, it will probably be a hidden one.

The lack of anything properly resembling RPG elements is sure to displease old fans. It feels like they didn't want to commit the game to being purely an adventure game and left this half-baked vaguely RPG-ish combat system in as some sort of half-assed attempt to preserve some of Paper Mario's roots. The only real progression metric is HP upgrades you find which have some undefined boost behind the scenes on your stats in battle, but battles are so short and simplistic it hardly matters.

While I did like the darker atmosphere of the game, the actual story and boss fights fall flat. There were too many toads and there was plenty of room for new characters with better personalities.

On some occasions, I did find Oviva to be very annoying. But this doesn't mean she's the worst companion in the series history.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm having a lot of trouble reviewing this game. I feel there are external and internal circumstances that seriously hinder my thoughts here.

On one hand, yes, I do desperately want a game similar to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I say this even though my most favourite Paper Mario game was Super Paper Mario; I just know a game like that can't really do so great anymore. Super Paper Mario was a daring risk that went right, but it shouldn't be risked again, unless you REALLY want to be bold, and maybe a bit stupid.

On the other hand, I've heard the interviews, I've seen the dialogue, and honestly, given the hindsight, I can't help but feel like there are some genuine cries for help throughout this game. The Bob-omb, "Bobby" as Olivia calls him, is an example. Olivia keeps trying to name him, but he adamantly refuses to be named; this, as well as a nod to Admiral Bobbery, among other references to their own past, tells me they really do want to make uniquely designed enemies/allies, but something's stopping them.

That being said, it's also very blatantly clear that this game could've been infinitely better. Take a look at Super Paper Mario. Everything in that game is unique, yet follows Nintendo's restrictions. There's scarcely a redesigned Koopa, Goomba, or Shy Guy in there, if at all. It's all unique characters/enemies that fall directly into the line of what's allowed still.

My thoughts on this game are that, with a bit of thinking outside of the box, it could've been infinitely more. Olivia and Olly's characters could've been deep. Olly's entire motive for genocide is as stupid as "My creator scribbled on me! For this, I must K I L L" and it turns out what he WROTE, not scribbled, was a heartfelt message. This could've been much more, and just felt incredibly lazy. Characters like Khap'taan Teeowed/Captain T. Ode, who felt super unique, were dumbed down so severely that you end up feeling averse to them by the end.

Everything in this game is a big "What could've been". That being said, it nailed lots of things on the head. The music and sound design is amazing. The level design is pretty great. The art style is superb, and visually, this game is a wonder; but none of these things feel so great because of how dull this game is. The soundtrack of this game is a soundtrack you'd find yourself humming, but thanks to how little of an impact the game actually left, the soundtrack, too, suffers. The visual design would've made unique characters so much more memorable, yet all I can remember is Olivia, Olly, and Captain T. Ode's fancy clothes, and that only a little; really, all I can remember is that it was black and red... I think.

The combat is an atrocity. If I were given the opportunity to lick wet paint for a "Skip Battle" button, I would do it in a heartbeat. It's fun for the first chapter AT MOST. Boss battles are also somewhat interesting, yet they, too, stop being that way after the second one.

I really hate that I spent 100$ for this game. If I knew this is what I would get, I wouldn't have bought it at all.

Why I'm so torn is because it's so clear it could've been better. From character motives, to combat systems, to, well, characters in general; they're all so visibly lacklustre, yet so clearly oozing with room for improvement, that it hurt to play the game. I played it and I saw what could've been, and I can't help but feel like there's just a reason behind it. Given the studio's complaints regarding the fact that they're not able to really be as creative as they wish, I can somewhat understand, but as I mentioned before, even with the restrictions on creativity that they're effected with, a game like Super Paper Mario could exist if made now. There's just not enough of an excuse, especially when The Origami King itself is full of potential for interesting characters, and, hell, even has characters like Olivia and Olly, which fall outside of this rule.

If the last two games weren't as bad as they were, I'd probably be much more lenient on the rating for this game, as I'd be thinking it's a one-off mistake in game creation. Would it be a big mistake? Yes, sure, but let's not stress over hypotheticals. The issue here is that there's not much good faith, so I find it hard to believe that the characters, or at the very least, the story, couldn't have been more interesting.

I mean... really? "He scribbled all over me, so I must commit genocide, without even thinking for a split second that, maybe, just maybe, the person who brought me to life didn't do so with bad intentions". That's the plot. What's the lesson here? Think first, act later? Mario games don't all have to be as mindless as "Your princess is in another castle". This is on that calibre, and I don't understand why. Not to say those games are bad, but it's more that they shouldn't even be compared. Making a story game story-less is like making a Mario game without jumping.

My rating of 4 is genuine.

Truth be told, 81 is fair score for this game. The only reason i'm giving it a 10 is to help combat all these negative reviews from people that are only giving a bad score due to the fact the game is not a successor to the original paper mario or to TTYD. I wonder how many of those that are giving a bad score actually played the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a solid paper Mario entry. I did not like the battle mechanic. The bosses were more interesting. I didn’t like the breakable weapons. The game show part was tedious and completely unnecessary. I didn’t like the final boss fight either. It has mechanics that were completely new for that battle and were not introduced before the final boss. This made getting that last fight out of the way that much more frustrating. Like many other paper Mario entries there was a very good story. Interesting plot, lots of comedy. The attention to detail and paper theming is amazing. The desert level was my favorite by far and you don’t have to get too deep before getting to it. Expand

I've never felt so cheated out of 60 bucks. The combat is absolutely pathetic and there is zero incentive to complete it. If there was XP or a chance to gain items that would be one thing. But instead you spin a stupid circle around every single time, solving the same boring puzzle over and over again just to receive coins. I hate this game.

Boss fights are a highlight of the combat system with the minion fights being frustrating when you can't see the correct line up. The writing and localisation is top notch as usual with Nintendo in house games and the world is certainly charming enough, but the choice to point out the blindingly obvious to the player every step of the way puts a dampener on the whole thing. So nothing special but worth it at a cut down price.

If the game had addressed these issues properly, I would be placing it beside the first two entries in the series, considering it still has a lot to offer. But it looks like Nintendo has made another half-step towards what made the original entries so captivating.

Nintendo, it's time to find a new producer for Paper Mario, this can still be a series that attracts both new players and the already established fanbase. The recent VideoGamesChronical interview illustrates exactly what Kensuke Tanabe doesn't understand about the series, or simply chooses to ignore.

Overall, it's worth checking out if you're not already familiar with the franchise or enjoyed the simplicity of the last two entries. However, original fans of the series may be left underwhelmed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There will be some spoilers here so be warned. No major endgame spoilers though. Having played all the different paper mario games including the fan favourite thousand year door this was a tough game to buy. Honestly didn't want to because of the battles but enentually did, and boy was I glad I did. To start of this review the game actually begins pretty dark and creepy which for an opening was kind of unexpected and overwhelming but still fun nevertheless. After that the game truly starts and get's lots of fun. I will try to get through every aspect of the game in this review so let's get started. First up the story. This one is honestly pretty good in my opinion. It has a nice combination of humour, seriousness, even creepy at times (beginning parts especially) and lots of character has been put into every different character you come across. Even all the toads have different dialogue. You can find toads scattered across all parts of the world for you to be found and they all have some pretty funny dialogue not gonna lie. Next up the design. The world look absolutly stunning in game. It has vibrant environments and locals. The game has a really good paper ecstatic to it (just like color splash but just that more beautiful) and the world is interconnected so it feels like one huge world instead of different "acts". As for the battle system, that is where it get's a "little" lacking. This time the battle system has a puzzle solving element to it. The arena is made of 4 circles and 8 parts with enemies positioned on each of these parts. The thing you have to do is position them so they are 1. After each other in a line or 2. 4 characters in a square in front of you. After that it is actually just like other paper mario games. Chose the attack and hit them with a jump (the line) or with a hammer (the square) to win, or letting the enemy attack afterwards, rinse and repeat. Whem defeating enemy you only recieve coins instead of exp and confetti (this games version of paint and is used to fill out holes in the world to restore them to their original shape and color). The coins are needed to buy items and weapons. These weapons are like the badges from thousand year door and let you use a new type of attack but the difference is that they break after an x amount of uses. So overall the game is amazing and really worth it if you like paper mario. If yoy are way to nostalgic driven then you might want to skip this one but it is compared to the recent releases (sticker star and color splash) the most old school you will get. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The overworld is so beautiful. Soundtrack and Looks are perfect for a Mario game like this. Mechanics is where it lacks. Battles are boring to a point where avoiding them is a better option, since your items break after some time. Exp? None. Actual rewards for battling? Coins. Just coins. The whole battle has been made unnecessary and annoying. Boss battles are better than Standart fights, yet the lack in creativity and become boring after the second boss. Apart from that I must say that the Overworld game play is extremely fun and well made. All those collectibles are fun to get and it's designed beautifully. In general it's a great game with unnecessary flaws. You could have done better Intelligent System.
One last thing before I'm done. WHY THE HECK IS THERE A REWARD FOR COLLECTING ALL COINS IN THAT STUPID BOAT RIDE. Sorry I exaggerated a bit there, but for real its just frustrating and annoying. Yet a decent game. Would only recommend if you liked all Paper Mario's. And I mean ALL.

The game runs perfectly, is very fluid docked or portable.

The OST is a gem and most definitely in the top 5 of the best this year 2020 (as the game finally)

The story, one of the best in the series (the best?), because there is emotion at several times and it's something I really did not expect to see in Paper Mario. Humor is omnipresent, as always in the series and the variety of situations and staging allows a constant renewal of the show.

The gameplay is really very innovative, it's clearly tactical RPG, I'm not very good at puzzles but I really took a lot of fun throughout the game, and what about the awesome boss fights, again with each time new combat situations that came to refuel the way you have to understand the system.

I finished the game in about 37 hours, a perfect lifespan for this type of game. I've never been bored, which is always the mark of the big games on my side.

I do not necessarily have a flat, my gluttony would have liked the adventure to be longer in places and in some temples, but it's quibble.

    It's 9/10 on my side.

Although losing what made it so big in the first place, that is the RPG elements, the game manages to be the Paper Mario we all know and love while still being super unique on its own. The amount of charm, love, and hard work put in it is so clear at first glance, you could tell everyone had fun making this.

Firstly, the battle system. It was nice, I like how it involves puzzles, but it gets boring and repetitive over time with little to no changes other than the enemies that aren't even that great in variety either which is usually why I try to stay away from the enemies. The coins being the incentive to it is fine, but the return of XP would have made it so much better. It almost feels like they're experimenting with it, at least to me. How it's implemented in the boss fights though are so much better though, more engaging with actual strategies involved rather than mindless whacking and stomping. I'd say it's the most fun I had in a turn-based battle system.

And then the soundtrack, probably one of the best that I've heard from a video game, almost every piece is worth bobbing your head to and they fit the situations they are used in really well. The battle music is made to get you in the mood to brawl, and man does it work so well! And believe me on this one, but I've had the music stuck in my head for an entire week now ever since I started playing the game. That's just how good it is.

I think the best part of this game is the writing. It's so simple and funny at first, but it's just as effective as well. I could not count how much I'd laughed at the jokes, but even then there are still moments that are sure to hit you hard to remind you of the stakes you have in the story. The characters are also really well written, I always found myself picking my favorites just because of their little quotes.

As someone who plays games rather slowly and takes them lightly, I always like to explore for possible secrets hidden beneath the surface, and this game does not let down on that part with numerous collectibles waiting to be found and toads crying for their much-needed rescues.

A few parts of the game are, admittedly, disappointing to the point I don't feel completely satisfied, but the entire journey was a real fun ride and many fond memories were created after playing what took a full week because I wanted to see everything the game's got and in the end, I got everything I wanted, and it was amazing. Amazing for what it is.

I would definitely recommend it for the newer fans who will buy this as their very first Paper Mario game. Trust me, you will enjoy this one!
