    I was determined to finish this game because I invested so much time to it so I did. Near the end it was dreadful to have to listen to the dialog and uninteresting characters go on and on it was very painful. The graphics and world is beautiful and I will give it a 10 out of 10 for the visuals but the game lacks a good story and characters. Alloy is an awkward personality and so is everyone else. Im happy to finish this story but I am over it. Its a really nice world and graphics but really poor character development and story telling.     I had a great experience with the game itself, but the DLC left me feeling terrible. I am not prejudiced against homosexuality, but I feel there was no reason for the main character to be a lesbian. It felt forced and unnatural.

    This is not a review bombing, but As someone that play the previous game and expecting something good, I was disappointed, there are 3 factors in this game which gave this result.     The game takes the core of the first game and takes it and elevates all aspects of it even further in all the good and bad ways. You have more tools as disposition, the map is bigger, the story is quite good, but all the faults it had in character development and dialogue are still there.     It is one of the few games that could be said to have many elements of "next-gen graphics" of volumetric light/fog. Great open world and a really huge map with different biomes. Those who like open-world sand box types of games will really enjoy themselves here. There is really a lot on the map and it looks great on PS5 in balance mode.     Regarding the Performance.:
    As i can tell you the Performance mode is not working as should it be has a lot of bugs. Horrible aliasing at 60 fps. A New performance update it's necessary to be done to this game.

    Everything about this game was great. It went crazy sci-fi, but I was expecting it already after the 1st horizon game fighting robot dinosaurs lol. Loved it! Keep it up!

    I am now a good 25h into the game and cant find the joy to complete it. I will finish it though, just to see the ending.

    The story is some kind of uninteressting, with a few nice twists, but the conversations in the base with my "friends" are somthing lame. I kind of dont connect with all of them and thats because Aloy also dont care. She has always the same face (i would say resting b*tch face syndrome) with the same facial expression. I wanted to love Horizon, both of them. I wanted Aloy to be my female Link, as a protagonist with an awesome Bow and fighting skills. But it fails to deliver these feelings to me. Overall a pretty game for me, but after i finish it, i will never touch it again. Maybe i will buy the third installment in a few years to finish the complete story of Horizon.

    I was surprised this pile of **** has gotten a sequel. Well it's worse than the original. Alloy is still her ow annoying self, except made uglier. A lot of other characters (NPCs) were made uglier as well, in a postmodernist attempt to make everything ugly.

    Gameplay, has pretty much the same flaws I mentioned in my Horizon Zero Dawn review, you can check those out.

    Forbidden Shores fits nicely with the main game with a fun, sort of self-contained story that points the way for the story to move forward even larger on the third installment while also gracing us with a fun antagonist and some long overdue affection coming Aloy's way. All in all the only criticism I have is that it was over too soon.

    Ein Meisterwerk wie schon der erste Teil.
    Die Geschichte kommt zwar nicht ganz an den ersten ran aber trotzdem 10 von 10.
    Der DLC Burning Shores war auch sehr gut.
    Freu mich schon auf den dritten Teil.

The gameplay is so much fun, I've put at least 100hrs into this game and it still hasn't gotten boring. I think it helps that the load times are practically non existent. You can be across the map in quite literally a matter of 2 seconds. Aloy is a grand protagonist. She's compassionate, funny, sassy, and there's nothing I don't love about her. I guess the spoilers would be that in the latest DLC they confirmed her sexuality and I was able to relate to her that much more. Her "OG" self, Liz, was gay so I mean it wasn't a shocker if im honest. She had hella chemistry with Petra in the first game and I will admit I was a bit disappointed with the lack of interaction and chemistry in this game. They held it back. But I guess they made it up with Seyka. Anyways the DLC adds more machines, allows you to level up past 50, which means there's new skills available. There's also a new weapon! So anyways I highly recommend this game, if you love open world and story driven games with fun gameplay mechanics this is for you!… Expand

Such an ambitious game; the extent of the world, the creatures and characters, visuals and music, gameplay, EVERYTHING is just on another level. it's true it might have some flaws here and there, but the product as a whole is just SUPERB. I'll try to finish the few things I have left for the #PlatinumWhat a ride! I can honestly say that this is one of the best games I've played EVER.     This game is so beautiful and so good to play. The is story is great, but in my opinion the Ted Faro's story could be more elaborated. Also there are some inconsistencies in graphics like Far Zenith NPCs look not detailed in most parts. 60 fps is great, but sometimes blurry in few scenes. Can't wait for PC version.

Los gráficos son buenos, pero el hecho de que la neblina sea TAN EXCESIVA llega a ser molesto, a veces no sabes ni por donde caminas. lo debieron de pulir hasta finales de 2022 lo cual es una lástima, tenía potencial de goty pero por las prisas se queda muy mal parado.     It's beautiful and the world design is visually impressive. Other than that I didn't enjoy much about Horizon Forbidden West. Especially in terms of story & characters it's very bland. There are no meaningful choices. Exploration is barely rewarded or matters at all. It's a beautiful but empty open world.

And again, dodge, shoot, dodge, shoot, dodge, shoot...
    I won't buy another sequel. And I probably won't be alone when I read how the developers in DLC killed Aloy's charisma/sex appeal for most players.

    what's good about this game?! The picture is not everywhere!
    the characters are lifeless, apparently there are no resources for this - it’s good to write a character! Grind! Constant "exclamation marks" in the menu, as you pick something up, the sign is right there, even if it's a repeated game kapets !!! I bought (WHY THEN) DLC and I can’t play it without going through the whole game    what's good about this game?! The picture is not everywhere!

I don’t see people liking the first one and disliking this one, but I can see people who didn’t play the first one being unable to get into this one.

    Basically everything is done better in this game. You can tell a talented and devoted studio was given more resources since the success of the last game. There were a couple issues, like frame rate drops (rare), pop in, and getting wrecked taking damage while you were waiting for your character to stand back up. These have largely been fixed.

    I liked the story. In fact I changed my normal habit of doing all the side content before finishing the main story. I really wanted to see what happened. Some might prefer the story of the last game. But seriously if you thought the last game was worth playing, then play this one. The open world is beautiful.

    Cons, the main character started to get on my nerves. Geralt of Rivia never did by comparison.    … Expand

    Amazing, beautiful and fun game to play. I loved every minute of it! Can’t wait for the upcoming dlc too, gunna play that as well!

    Fantastic open world game! Abides by the Ubisoft formula of open world design but nails it far better than Ubisoft has ever done. Incredible graphics, tons of side quests and an absolutely bonkers story that goes places you’d never expect. If you liked the first game, the second is better in every way.

    Un des plus beaux jeux graphiquement. L'histoire est superbe et on se doit d'y jouer. Par contre, le système de combat de type mêlée est désastreux. Les combos sont infaisable et les tutoriaux sont mals faits, il aurait été facile d'améliorer les tutoriels, en faisant apparaitre les touches au bon moment afin d'apprendre les tempos impossibles des attaques.     Loved the zero dawn, but this feels like milking on the same game engine. Couldnt play more than 2 hours, soundtrack is annoying, “boss” fights are just stupid. Graphics looks terrible. Flames looks like from super mario. Honestly i have no idea why people are rating it that high. Maybe they are high, and this is the very first game they played since ps1 baught along with ps5.

It’s appalling how the developers capture so much tedious animation only to completely sh!t the bed as enemy moves track you demanding a dodge button press.     Other issues I have: 1) climbing; I’d rather the game not have it if it’s going to be implemented in such a way. Seconds long animations to move a few pixels gets old instantly.
    2) collision: constantly getting stuck on collision geometry. Riding the metal dinosaurs isn’t even worth it 90% of the time because they will get stuck on everything. 3) Farming and upgrades: RNG padding as heck. I don’t need to say more.

    AAA games are all starting to feel the same and major fault lies in how games are balanced. Balance the same as any AAA game and it’s going to feel and play like any other AAA game. I want parameters to adjust game speed, timing windows, RNG mechanics, enemy health, and so on. I’ll balance this myself, since this industry is too lazy to do anything other than try-hard nonsense.    … Expand

    I wasn't let down in the least. In fact, Forbidden West surprised me by enthralling me even more than the first. The heart of why that is lies in how, in most every way, this second game improves on the first. The visuals are    I had high expectations for Forbidden West. After Zero Dawn rose to be one of my all-time favorite games, I couldn't help but eagerly anticipate the sequel.

    The heart of why that is lies in how, in most every way, this second game improves on the first. The visuals are still more stunning. The machine designs remain striking, terrifying, and exciting to fight against.

    And, of course, we have the stash.

    Ah, the stash! How Aloy loved her stash before the patch that made her stop blabbing about it. (Though I'll admit to spouting those lines myself as I play along now!) Even more than telling such a poignant love story, the stash is just one of the many quality of life improvements for Forbidden West's seamless gameplay. I don't know how Guerilla read my mind, but they addressed just about every pain point I had in Zero Dawn!

    Another amazing thing about this game is its pacing. For me, it was perfect for most of the playthrough, weaving in new elements just when things are beginning to grow a little stale.

    The side quests also helped to keep things interesting. Though Zero Dawn's were often great, I found myself enjoying the variety and characters involved in those in Forbidden West even more.

    The game isn't without its faults. The bugs it suffered from especially at release were far more numerous than you'd want, and a good amount persist even to this writing.

    Additionally, its story doesn't quite reach the emotional highs of the first game, though it has plenty of peaks and troughs in its own right.

    Also, while I enjoyed Machine Strike during my first playthrough, I'm not sure I'll go back to it. It was the same way for me with Gwent in Witcher 3, however, that could just be a personal take!

    Finally, upon reflection, I didn't love the addition of all the gear Forbidden West included. It just became too much, and with its stats kept too vague. Give me some hard numbers and I'd be much more pleased!

    All that being said, Forbidden West will always keep a place in my heart if only for the reason that I was playing it and inspired by it while writing my book, The Last Ranger, whose protagonist was inspired by Aloy. Being able to play in this brilliant world served as not only a fun experience, but a great way to keep in the mind of a like character.

    Forbidden West takes it place in my top 3 games ever, if it doesn't snag first place outright. I'm over the moon excited for the DLC to release in less than a week!    … Expand

    Horizon Forbidden West has an unforgettable protagonist, world, story, visuals, soundtrack and gameplay. Due to minor issues with inventory management and quest selection, I cannot call it perfect but I can say it is absolutely worth your time.

    Combat is just boring, stressful and tedious, when you are surrounded by enemies you have no idea where they are, furthermore with a system than is taking you to the ground every second, making the combat frustrating as hell.     The story is just not interesting, as well as all of the characters that you meet in the entire game. Aloy acts with a moral superiority with everyone that makes the main character hateful.
    The game has a lot of glitches, puzzles and platforming, all of them are so tedious and a way to add extra time that are a big bunch of crap.
    The quantity of icons in the map are just crazy, bonfires to save the game every 100 steps.
    They picked all the bad stuff that Ubisoft's open world games have.
    Now I can compare HFW with Days Gone, and DG is much better than this.    … Expand

    Très sympa, même un peu mieux que le Zero Dawn. C’est jeu classique en ce qui concerne l’open World mais ça n’empêche qu’il est très beau niveau graphismes et détails. Une histoire un peu plus intéressante que le premier mais une fin moins épique (je trouve).

    I bought a PS5 for this game, yea, not for GoWR, but for this piece of junk. Because I loved HZD. Here is what I want to say as a HZD fan:
    1. the combat really sucks. They added things, yea, but just like HZD, only a few work, others are just gimmicks. In HZD you can choose whatever weapons because you craft unlimited ammo on the run. Some weapons are weak but you have quantity. But in    I bought a PS5 for this game, yea, not for GoWR, but for this piece of junk. Because I loved HZD. Here is what I want to say as a HZD fan:
    1. the combat really sucks. They added things, yea, but just like HZD, only a few work, others are just gimmicks. In HZD you can choose whatever weapons because you craft unlimited ammo on the run. Some weapons are weak but you have quantity. But in HFW, they limit your resources so you can only make a few. The most affected weapons are tripcasters, you can place 4 at the most and do funny damage, not to mention they break very easily.
    2. missions are so terrible in HFW, basically all filler quests to trap you in this game forever. And there are so many! The rewards are also negligible.
    3. puzzles are now very unintuitive. Back when I was playing HZD, I only checked YouTube a few times because I got stuck. But HFW gets me stuck all the time, they added a lot of shenanigans, all aimed at trapping you in this game forever.
    4. crafting is purely horrible. Requires so much and gives so little, especially in the early game, if you don't know where to buy the materials, you'll have to fight difficult monsters to strip down their tiny parts before killing them, so you can get a funny +1 stat on your gears. It's so hard to tear down machine parts during the early game. Or you can google where to buy the parts, which takes away all the fun of crafting.

    Conclusion: This game is such a disappointment. I purposely bought PS5 and this game right before burning shores comes out, now I'm not even sure if I'm going to buy it. Disappointment of the Year for me.    … Expand

This is right up side by side with The Witcher 3, and trades blows with it on a couple of fronts being ahead and behind. Just sensational. I am truly taken a back as to how great this is.     I am truly taken a back as to how great this is. I don't do meta critic reviews, but again I am so impressed. The criticisms of the story are way overblows, its wonderful, and while I get a lot of people just skip stuff I am NOT one of those people. The only fault I had with it was its flimsy set-up that initially leads into the game - even with the reap video it doesn't gel like it should. The dialogue, the acting, and oh the incredible technology they use to bring movie like motional cap into real time - all just creates an insane level of authenticity to the story and characters that so impressive its jarring!

    I've never been so captured by how a game implements its quests and world jobs other than say The Witcher 3 as well, there is a distinct lack of a grind feeling, and a huge feelings of just exploring and experiencing - even simple quests are wonderfully engaging and don't fall into usual Open World tropes - amazing.

    Look I cannot say enough about this, it was on special (I think still is) and I got it, and I realise now that its worth every single dollar of the full price anyway. It gives so much and the fact that I haven't even talked to you about the graphics should say enough about how impressive this game is. Its incredible - buy it.    … Expand

    Such a great game. I didn't experience any performance issues. The graphics are absolutely stunning and Aloy's companions have such developed back stories that it's easy to relate with them. There's so much to explore in the game. It can get overwhelming at first but there's easy ways to track every little bit of progress.     Playing the game on ps5 ayear after release and its one of the buggiest games I've ever played, I'm constantly getting stuck in walls and unable to finish quests because something has failed to load in probably.

    Also the puzzles are really unituitively and I'm constantly looking up guides/using tne bird bypass puzzles because they're far too much work for far too littl payoff

    Improves on its predecessor in every conceivable way. Accessibility options enhances quality of life (pickup animations). If you play Zero Dawn first, you'll appreciate this one even more. The story slaps.

    I love zero dawn very much, but with the sequel something is lost. Hard to nail it down, but 2nd one doesn't feel so great and unique anymore. Still had a lot of fun fighting the machines tho. Solid 7 for me

    No idea how they made a game that looks this gorgeous so tedious and stale. The crafting system is obnoxious, map traversal is unrewarding, none of the characters are memorable enough to care about, and the combat is monotonous. This game feels like a job in retail. After 50+ hours, I couldn't bring myself to continue and clicked uninstall. Massive disappointment.

I prayed that the sequel to the disaster of a game that is HZD would at least be acceptable, but no, the only thing that has been fixed from what annoyed me about the previous game is the face animations, but the voice acting is still awful, the world is empty and lame as hell.     Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

    Horizon Forbidden West is Guerrilla's best game to date, taking Aloy to new heights with a blockbuster release that meets the high standards set by PlayStation in recent years. While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

    Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
