    Compare with Mass Effect 2, are you kidding?
    This game is a pure mixture of Assassin and Rise of the Tomb Raider ....
    Constant hints and comments of the main character and in general her constant empty conversations. Stupid dialogues and a plot on the verge of insanity. Grind. Permanent cutscenes. Moans, oohs and aahs, of the main character. And a lot of grindage and gathering.    Compare with Mass Effect 2, are you kidding?

    Only Lara has hunting, corridors and caves, and here the hunt for robots, corridors and the Assassin constantly wakes up with his grind in the open world and the stupidest plot dialogues and history in the open worlds of ubisoft.
    With all the titanic work done with models and animations = a terrible boring, dull and stupid game with absurd dialogues and just stupid dialogues.

    All open-world games have turned into gum for idiots.
    Not one new idea or something, so that after half an hour it doesn't get boring. Modern AAA games are wasted time.
    And only Indies are sometimes surprised, but they lack elaboration of details and quality.

    All the screenwriters are extinct, like dinosaurs.
    There were only "effective managers" and "character designers" or "clothing designers" - I don't know.
    But definitely not game designers. They didn't even touch this game, didn't even see it, and didn't even pass by to give the developers a slap on the head.
    Play ENSLAVED Odyssey to the West or Genshin Impact instead.

    But not in this **** which is not even 10% the level of Sony and PS.

    There is no limit to my indignation. With all the typical beauty
    of "HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST", the eyes get used to it after 10 minutes and the game does not even try to surprise.

    Absolutely everything in it is done on the dump, probably except for the model of the main character and animation. Only Ubisoft can do worse.

    So a new fashion has also gone, when the games are completely different for the first 2 hours and after 2 hours. The first 2 hours of the game may even be interesting, but not later. All so that you can't get the money back.
    This game shows right away how lame it is and you realize that 100 hours of repetitions are waiting for you.

    Oh, yes, all over the world of the game, everyone knows who the heroine is and what she did in the last part. Are they sure they don't have SMS there?    … Expand

    HFW is a very good game and one of the best looking games out there today. The side missions are much more varied than in the first game and actually feel more meaningful as a result. The mechanics such as the glider and diving mask are welcome additions, but the game does suffer from too much variation.     This game is so beautiful, it’s such a same that the release timing was so bad. The first game released right before BotW and the second game released right before Elden Ring. Loved every second and will still be my GotY.

The storyline is riveting, the graphics are phenomenal. It’s the most beautiful game I have ever seen with respect to landscapes. The combat is challenging, with some slight changes from the first game. The new machines are fun. The introduction of the Zeniths blew my mind.     One of, if not, the most beautiful games I've ever played. The plot is amazing and I've found myself in photo mode for a HOT minute during even intense gameplay. In current times where it seems to be the norm to release an alpha/beta version of a game and have the public play-test for them, it's genuinely refreshing to find a fully developed, beautiful, immersive, and incapsulating game.One of, if not, the most beautiful games I've ever played. The plot is amazing and I've found myself in photo mode for a HOT minute during even intense gameplay. I'm almost upset that they didn't charge $100+ for this game because it's truly that much better than its competitors. Also, its PS5 controller feedback is wild good and I smiled for like an hour straight each time I pulled the bow back when I started playing. Other games make the trigger feedback too heavy, but they did it just right. Genuinely... if you're thinking about buying this game, think no more. Buy it. Play it.     Beautiful graphics & art.wow!.I. Great sounds in the 3D audio headset and music is always calming to explore. I really like the death Stranding touch in the focus also the mushrooms. The voice actors are amazing and really put me in the game. Im a bit biased because I love these games from gorilla and hope they make more.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. SPOILER ALERT!! Main story: 8.3 out of 10. - First I would like to say I enjoyed the story, and fully completed the main story. Pros: -New interesting characters.
    -Voice/acting is engaging characters have more personality and emotion.
    -Returning characters from the previous game
    -Antagonists (Zeniths) add weight to the story
    -Pacing is good enough
    -Cinematic cutscenes are high quality CG

    Cons:
    -Too many plot holes
    -Unrealistic decisions by Aloy
    -Character names are forgettable
    -Only three Zenith boss fights
    -When someone dies there is no weight and little emotion from other characters.
    -Sylens creates a device with not enough explanation which takes out all Zenith shields. Even Tilda’s shield even though she was nowhere near the blast.
    -Too many plot twists. First Hades is weakens and destroyed by Sylens and Aloy. Now there is a new threat of Trillionaires who were from earth that became aliens and are here to supposedly reclaim earth. Finally the Zeniths are just planet hopping to get away from Nemesis an even more powerful AI entity that is headed to earth.
    -The ending is set up for a third game which pulls a new threat out of the writers bum and says anticipate for the new threat on the next game.
    -Aloy decides to not take the spaceship with her friends and leave earth. So they will fight (Nemesis) in the next game.

    Graphics: 10/10 -better than Last of Us 2
    -Lots of color
    -Vegetation is hand placed specifically by team of artists, not AI generated
    -The sky and time changes are clear and beautiful. Day, Afternoon, Night, morning. You can see all the individual stars in the sky with the moon lighting.
    -The Guerilla games engine is amazing the ray tracing is phenomenal. HDR can be a little tricky to get the right settings.
    -Environments are incredibly detailed from the grass, sand, dessert, and water biomes.
    -Texures of characters skin is and hair are great. The in game model and and cutscene models are almost the same.
    -Texures of all environments are in native 4K clear to see.
    Best graphics on PS5 so far.

    Side missions: 9/10 I have completed 90% of all side missions
    -Most of the side missions are engaging and interesting.
    -Some side missions reward Aloy with legendary armor
    -Most side missions have high quality cinematic cutscenes.
    -Errands missions are like C+ tier side missions.
    -Salvage Scrap missions are tedious but you get the Legendary armor: Oseram Articifier once all salvage missions are complete.
    -Rebel outpost missions are boring to me but level Aloy up.

    Skill Tree: 7.9/10
    -Two special supers are overpowered
    -The rest of the supers are really not that effective
    -There is a lot of ways to play the game based on the skills you decide to level up.

    Combat: 7.7/10 -The combat has improved where you can learn new moves
    -skill tree improves combat and there is valor super to enhance it.
    -Overall it seems the same in terms of how the spear images impacts an enemy it feels like your not doing damage.

Everywhere you look the game just looks stunning, it performs great, the variety of long-range weapons is sick. You really feel like a hunter in the wild everywhere you go, the cosmetic outfits and face paint looks great. The side characters are allThe game is great. Loved the story, music, environment, combat, etc.. This game is probably the best open world environment I’ve ever seen. Everywhere you look the game just looks stunning, it performs great, the variety of long-range weapons is sick. You really feel like a hunter in the wild everywhere you go, the cosmetic outfits and face paint looks great. The side characters are all unique and interesting, the story has good climax and plot twists. I only have a couple of logistical issues that keep this game from a perfect 10/10 experience. One is the lack of good melee combat; you never use other spears (besides the default) or the shield you have to glide. There is no blocking, parrying, or countering; it seems like the game is primarily a dodge roll and range kind of combat. Second, upgrading your gear is a bit too grindy and mundane, you need specific machine part you can only knock off machines during combat. Chests only ever have crafting gear or items only to sell, and you can’t just kill the specific machine you need the part from and scavenge it for some reason. I hardly had any of my gear upgraded past level 2 because of this. Lastly, a little too much optional dialogue, I’m the kind of guy who likes to listen to everything and not miss anything, but even I was getting bored listening to everything. Overall, I think these issues don’t take away from the fact that this is a great game and deserves everyone’s attention.… Expand

    This game is amazing! I have been playing it for almost 80 hours and still cant get enough of the game. It has been getting so much undeserved grief online, where it has to meet impossible standards that games like Elden Ring or Legend of Zelda: BotW would NEVER have to.
    I can only recommend this game...but play the first one first, otherwise you might not get the same experience.

    Horizon Forbiden West é um jogo envolvente, gráficos excelentes, uma ótima jogabilidade e um som sensacional, pra quem jogou o Zero Dawn é uma excelente continuação, as máquinas estão mais difíceis, mas não atrapalha em nada o jogo, são desafios formidáveis, ótima diversão.

    +Innovative gameplay, albeit maybe too much complicated
    +Amazing attention to detail +Great to be able to discuss things with GAIA, but I expected her to have more answers (it does make sense within the story)
    - All Terraforming subfunctions except Hades were a letdown (why didn't we get a short conversation with each of them)?
    - For some reason, the Base is not customizable (despite NPCs customizing it themselves)
    - Overall decreasing quality of writing over the course of the game; The overarching FZ plot didn't really make sense for me (motivation of the villains); the built up fear of the FZ underutilized; less attention paid to dialogues (characters abandon "tribal" vocabulary and use the same idioms and words as modern people do, compared to the first game)
    - Dialogue options are even less meaningful than in the first game
    - The tenacity of the Tenakth was scaled down compared to the trailers and overall expectations (based on conversations from the first game), essentially played down as Carja propaganda. No fear whatsoever coming from them. Kind of a letdown
    - NPCs underutilized to a great extent. Erend does basically nothing over the course of the entire game, and he's not the only one. My cons are longer but it's mostly tough love. My rating is 7-8/10.    … Expand

I'll echo a sentiment I see in a lot of other reviews: looks great and the music is good, but just not much fun to play and the story is lacking. I've looked up videos of how the game wants you to use combat, and I don't find it fun. If you do, I can see why you would find this game amazing. I wouldn't tell someoneI have completed 2 of the big main quests and a ton of side quests.     It’s just boring. The story is basically nothing. There is no family. Nothing to care about. Aloy is boring and uninteresting. Not to mention she sounds like she is is bored and uninterested in every conversation. Also, the leaders in the story are all dumb and make bad emotional decisions. But that’s a different story. Boring. Boring. Boring.

The stakes are raised in meaningful ways throughout the game, coinciding with more advanced combat and traversal mechanics that are perfectly paced throughout the game. Everything is woven together masterfully to create a believable world with amazing characters. Side content has as much depth as main story quests, so everything feels meaningful and has a tangible effect on the game's world.

    If you loved Zero Dawn, this one is a no-brainer. If you never played Zero Dawn, I would suggest doing so before diving into this game.     I loved the first one and i had high hopes for the Second one. I can happily say that i love the second one as well! The only thing that annoys me a little bit is the glitching in some areas, like, when you suddenly disappear into a rock for example. The climbing isn't always as good as i thought it would be, an the yellow "helping lines" for the climbing aren't always helpful, certainlyI loved the first one and i had high hopes for the Second one. I can happily say that i love the second one as well! The only thing that annoys me a little bit is the glitching in some areas, like, when you suddenly disappear into a rock for example. The climbing isn't always as good as i thought it would be, an the yellow "helping lines" for the climbing aren't always helpful, certainly not at some parts during the in game day time. Forbidden west now is much more detailed, much bigger, there are finally great role-play mechanics in the game. World is so detailed and beautiful, I never even used fast travel so far.     So unnecessary and frustrating is the exploration and "parkour" in this game. The animations are meant to be as realistic and fluid as possible, but the result is awful slow movement.     Super open World dans la veine du premier. L'histoire est top, les missions secondaires sont toutes intéressantes. Il y a beaucoup de contenus. Est surtout c'est très beau textures super propre.
    Bon je met 9 car j'aime pas du tout la façon dont l'escalade est gérer avec des sorte de traits jaune pour l'escalade .
    Sinon pour le reste c'est top. Je recommande chaudement.

    The first Horizon was a 9/10 for me, absolutely loved the sci-fi, yet grounded story.

    While Forbidden West has hands down, the best faces, facial animation, acting and general graphics of any games, it looses some point for me. First, the combat is still messy and you either get CRUSHED, or will 2 shot everything by the end.     First, the combat is still messy and you either get CRUSHED, or will 2 shot everything by the end. Some of the new enemies (snake) have tiny weakspot and are constantly moving all around; how am I supposed to hit them ?
    Second, the new climbing system, while great, will more than not, make Aloy grab on a surface when you absolutely dont want to. Its the same with water and Aloy will swim when knee-deep in water in mid combat... It creates for very frustrating bits.
    Next the story fell flat for me, I cant say much without spoiling, but early on, a "twist" do a 180 of the "grounded" sci-fi that was Zero Dawn, we go hyperdrive into boring stuff...
    Finally, the game is RIDDLED with bugs and I feel little level design and other core mechanics were properly tested. Aloy wont grab on anything if you dont have a running momentum, making for again, frustrating climbs and level exploration. Most animations of her jumping and grabbing a ledge will see her go inside all geometries as they didnt they of the animation + level design symbiose. In half the cauldron I would get a bug where my melee attack would but cancelled after the 1st frame.
    I will end by saying I dropped the game at around level 40 when a quest pit me against a Stormbird and any damage received drops them 10m below in one frame, making chain damage impossible (and breaking the immersion pretty bad) + He would only spam an attack where he goes too high above you (and you cant target directly above you head) and them meteor crash onto you. By the time you get up from the recoil, he his charging again; making it impossible to kill and pass that quest.
    It's a shame really because the game is filled with content and one fan less critical than me could absolutely love the game. But I feel they went too big on quantity and very little on quality (other than art department) this time.    … Expand

    By far the most beautiful game world I’ve ever explored. The combat is amazing and the story is solid. Some minor performance issues that mostly got patched out in the first day or two. This game sets the bar extremely high for PS5 exclusives.

    Voice acting is solid. Music is subtle, but well balanced. The noise of the world itself, again, great.
    Combat is such good fun, and you can really play to your style, with tons of options, from laying traps, sniping whilst hiding in grasses, or full on full-frontal assaults. The controls and movements are crisp and really responsive.
    The story is engaging, the exploration is fun, and some of the puzzles are decent, if not quite Tomb Raider levels.
    All in all, I loved this game, but I would probably take it down to an 8.5 if I could (I couldn't so it gets a nine) for the following reasons.
    Aloy's voice sometimes becomes super quiet and I struggle to hear her.
    When you arrive at a puzzle, if you don't get it almost immediately, she starts giving out hints that are often just the solution. Jeez, give me a moment to look around!
    Aloy does sometimes like to get stuck on a climb, refusing to reach up for the next hand-hold, which can get annoying.
    Just to note, I
    Lastly, I like to clear an area first, and then move on, and the story makes that impossible, so there is a lot of doubling back to earlier locations to complete areas. It's fine, but just, for me, a little frustrating.

    Horizon Forbidden West is a must play game. If you've never played Horizon Zero Dawn I would say go play that game first. Because the story continues after the events of the first. The game mechanics are amazing and it's just so addictive. This is actually the first game that I complete it with 100% achievements earned.

The arena challenges, if you're playing on Hard or higher, are really really engaging and tough, with game changing rewards in terms of weapons and armors. The companions and unique companion quests are very good steps but I wished more engagement on that front. I'm always going back to Mass Effect series when it comes to team building.     This game alone is reason enough to buy a playstation. Absolute blast, takes its time and has a serious challenge for those looking for that style of play. Great main lead, fun open environment to explore and a true next gen experience. lots of content and totally worth it!

You must also consider the labor that went into making all these things happen, which is obvious in this game, and the budget needed to make it happen, and the time it took to make the game, and how things are place and organize in category menu screens and sub screens.

    I have evaluated this game in great detail and found for each of the above mention fields of knowledge, this game at minimum is an 8.9 and maximum of 9.6

    And yes I factored in the poor story and bugs and lacking of interesting mission as well. No matter what the extreme lows were, the highs still overpowered its lows in decimal point counts

    This is a 9.3 game. Anyone that says otherwise are open say so, just know that if a review is based on fun factor and story all as its make or break, then those reviewers aren't really reviewers. A review must be done without prejudice or personal feelings, and only after the counts are tallied, a reviewer must put him or herself in the equation. If you whine that you're not feeling the game and what to play something else, then you are factoring yourself in the equation far too early, and before you reach the half way point in the gam, or even before you finished the game to make conclusive opinions.     I enjoyed the first game but roughly 5 years after the original release I have gotten sick of the "checklist" style list of things to do and boring/elongated dialogue for even the most minimal side characters. The visuals and combat carry the game.

    Horizon has enchanted me again. After a slow start, a graphically beautiful, sophisticated sequel comes, polished in every aspect, and underscored by a great soundtrack on top of that. The sequel was simply a success. Everything that worked before works even slightly better now. [Issue#317]

While it's totally worth fans jumping in on day one, it's perhaps better to wait a few weeks until all the bugs are ironed out.

    Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what everyone thought it would be: an amazing game. It has an open world with plenty of things to do and places to explore, fights against some really well-developed machines and stunning visuals. The feeling is that the second game of the series improves on what was already great, and it feels rewarding and fun to play. It is another single-player masterpiece from Sony.
