Paid 75 euros for a game, where microtransactions are added afterwards. And on top of that, cars are made more expensive after a mandatory update. Don't support this nonsense! Game is already solved, r.i.p. GT.

Has spat in the face of everyone that has ever supported this franchise. I can not believe that they think their overpriced microtransactions are justified and fair.. & to make everything worse you can't even play it if you don't have internet. The same thing everyone and every media outlet trashed xbox for are turning a blind eye to Sony and their stupidity. The decrease in race payouts, rigged roulette spins and ungodly grind is clear indication that they see us as nothing more than a quick buck. I am disgusted to admit that I bought the 25th anniversary edition in good faith to be surprised with this level of disrespect. Why in the hell did we even pay $90 damn dollars for ? They have forever tarnished their name over stupid decisions. If this is not fixed in days I will be selling my copy of this cash grab of a video game and possibly never picking up this garbage again. Even if it ends up as a free title in ps plus. The same way I refuse to pick up BF2042 I will do to this game. What a shameful and sad way to kill your franchise. Expand

Micro transactions worse than in a free to play game. Ridiculous high prices for legendary cars, always requires server connection even for single play, a maintenance downtime of almost 24 hrs, race rewards get reduced after a software update and now you have to grind twice as long.

Welcome to the Gran Capitalismo 7!

    Main features:
    - new simulator of poverty
    - insane short career
    - lack of cars
    - lack of events
    - low rewards and bad economy
    - crazy microtransactions
    - online only
    - f2p structure

The game uses a balance system so if you are not going to pay through microtransactions you will suffer. If you don't pay with real money, you will grind longer.

The game is a simple drive simulation.

GOOD- Graphic detail; huge garage; basically a GT!
BAD- No qualification (you start in end of race),
all the patches are to increase micro-transactions (lowering prize and augmet price of car).

after the patch I would not buy the game anymore.

The game is exceptional in every way. The graphics, gameplay, tracks and soundtrack makes up for a Gran Turismo masterpiece. However, it’s absurdly hard to make credits in-game, forcing you to spend (a lot) of money in micro transactions to get more credits. This game costs $70!!! It shouldn’t have such mechanic. Therefore, I highly advise all not to buy it unless they change it.

Gran turismo 7 catch up is a bad game. Every single race you are given an overpowered car and have to catch up to the leader with a 30 second gap. Every single race is a running start where the leader is miles ahead. Online which was great at Sport is unfinished and buggy. I regret preordering this game.

Unfortunately this isn’t the case with a relatively short single player campaign (The Cafe) that lacks the variety of events that older GT games had. The license tests are also just a side feature, like missions, that dont interact with the main campaign like older GT games. The biggest complaint I have though is that cars that were normally attainable through regular gameplay are now nearly impossible to save up, requiring the player to grind for 20+ hours due to lack of high paying end game content or the ability to sell any cars. Of course, this is to push people into microtransactions, but even then the pricing is ridiculous. A more proper term would be macrotransactions, with some cars costing more than the game itself. For example the McLaren F1 would cost $185 of real money. Even if the dollar-to-credit ratio was 10x better, I would still seriously consider buying any credits out of fear of encouraging this type of behavior from game developers. Maybe the best GT fans can hope for now is a GT4 release on PSN. As long as GT7 is in this state I would recommend saving your money. Expand

The “upgrades” are priced absolutely ridiculous, just putting soft racing tires on a car can cost multiple races worth of winnings. Hours worth of gameplay if you even want to decently upgrade ONE car. Which leads me to the obvious issue, it is unacceptable how many credits you receive for each race. I’m not playing this game 10 hours a day, I’m not grinding the same race 20 times in a row before they nerf the rewards again. I’m a casual player that wants to jump in for a bit when I have time. Which means I can’t afford any cars I want, I can’t upgrade anything, I can’t even paint my f*****g cars without being broke all the time. But this is exactly where they want us to be, so we buy their outrageously priced credits with real money. I’m not even going to get into not being able to play the game I just paid $70 for because everything is only online and they took it down. Sony should be ashamed at the state of this game, and appalled that the creator is doubling down on his BS instead of accepting fault and making adjustments. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS THEY HAVE MADE DRASTIC CHANGES TO THE IN GAME ECONOMY. Expand

True to PD's name, this game was built and fueled by greed and advertised with lies and deception.

Micro transactions need to go away along with all of the not so subtle hints in the game that try to convince players to spend real money on credits. The content is completely locked down for any casual user. There's nothing to do but repetitive grinding. And now with the latest updates PD is trying to punish players for trying to access the content the only way we know how. Instead of making it easier to enjoy a variety of cars and tracks like they claim they want for us, PD made it harder and sucked all the enjoyment out of the game.

Stop monitoring my in game activities and give me the game I paid a premium for that works offline. Give me the single player experience you advertised so I can get good first and then transition to online races.

Public statements of positive intent are meaningless... Action in the form of game updates that make the game playable are the only thing that will get me to reconsider PD as a company I want to support.

Right now the game is not worth my time and it's going on the back shelf since I can't return it. I highly recommend people skip this game and if you already purchased it please voice your opinions!

What a joke, and to even have the gall to further lower it because we found certain races we can do to afford the cars alone, not even considering upgrades on it yet because thats a whole different story; love the game itself, but the economy in it doesn't make sense where realism is being pushed yet it seems too real to a point we have to literally spend hundreds of real life hours just to grind for a car we really want. Some of us don't have that privilege to sit in-front of a screen for hours at a time to simply grind, which is forcing frustrated players to either quit the game entirely or pay up for the micro transactions, which I will never do. IT IS STILL A VIDEOGAME AT THE END OF THE DAY, we should be able to grind for money in a reasonable timeframe and not seemed forced to pay for 2M and still not have enough for the most expensive cars in the game. So disappointed in polyphony, always been a fan of the GT series.
I have played a fair few hours of GT7 now and it is VERY obvious there is a theme running through the game, engineered senorios to tempt you to spend real money, microtransactions, even reducing price money in a recent patch, shocking. We have a choice not to pay real money but the principle with a £70 game.

The game itself feels like a poorly reskinned GT 5 with a terrible interface, questionable driving physics, music that is just blah, and a complete pay to win system. The worst part is that they are borderline forcing people into the pay to win system with rigged rewards and laughable payouts when compared to the price of the cars in game. As an example, I have had 15 spins, 14 of them were the lowest possible monetary reward, 1 of them was even worse as an upgrade part for a car I don’t even own. This game was the only reason I owned a PS5, and will soon be the reason I only own an Xbox. When a companies only way of getting people to buy their system is with exclusives and they do this with their exclusives it says a ton about the company. Xbox is no saint here either, but every game I have owned on both systems has been better on Xbox by miles. GT7 just lost Sony a customer. This game makes games like Elden Ring that much more special. There is a game that has sold 12 Mil + copies without pay to win, selling me extra skins or any of that other crap, and it’s a fun game that I enjoy playing. Proof you don’t need to assault your customers wallets to be successful. As an after thought the last time I was this disappointed in a game release was Anthem, and this one probably I am even more disappointed in. Expand

Back then you bought a GT title you got it. You weren't even given the option of Microtransactions.

These days £70 isn't enough. They want more.

You can see the Microtransactions influencing game design of GT7. Lower payouts. Crappy roulette spins. Insane car prices. PP limits which require tuning if you want to even try to win. Tuning requires credits. You can no longer sell cars. Cars aren't rewarded at the end of a championship or cup. That paired with tiny payouts is a clear push to buy MTXs.

GT games back then weren't trying to reach into your pockets again after you bought the game.

It's not the grind. It's the principle. People don't like feeling manipulated and conned. They made these Microtransactions more aggressive AFTER the sales and good reviews came in.

There were bugs and issues (force feedback on the wheel is still broken), and their priority was not fixing that, but nerfing credits.

A shame as the core gameplay is good, but other areas have been compromised.

The microtransactions! i’m so fed up with, especially after patching and nerfing the payouts! how are we suppose to buy these limited cars if we can’t even spend 6 hours just to grind for 2 million credits, 18.5 million for a mclaren, while yes i get they are trying to be realistic, but you might as well make the payouts realistic, i know damn well a racer who preforms in gr3 classes doesn’t get paid 5000 for 1st place. and don’t even get me started on the roulette tickets. absolutely rigged and you can’t do ANYTHING about it, you cant close the application and spin again in hopes give you a better item, no because the chances of you getting what you want in that roulette ticket, is the same chance of winning the damn lottery, payouts in the roulettes are ridiculous as well, 2000 credits for 1 stars most of the time, 5000 in the two stars, 3 and 4 stars should be giving you parts considering tuning is pretty expensive and it would atleast be nice to get a part for a car you OWN instead of a 1.8 million dollar car which you need to buy to apply the parts for. and my experience with the roulette have been frustrating, on my main account i got nothing but one or two gold bars (100k each) a ton of coins, and an invitation, i passed so many engine swaps it was so frustrating. in hopes to an engine swap, i made another account, spent two whole days grinding the game out, finishing, only to get the same thing in roulettes, only exception was getting one carbon drive shaft… i hope PD sees these critics and heavily changes their game, if they don’t then the game is only going downhill from here. Lackluster (and short) "career" mode that feels more like a tutorial that overstayed its welcome.
Online play must be unlocked in said "career" mode. (You need to make it to book 9 in the GT Cafe I believe before you can actually race other people)
Single player cannot be accessed unless you are online.
A heavily weighted roulette reward system akin to what you'd find in more predatory F2P titles.
Certain cars and upgrades locked behind said roulette reward system.
Woefully low payouts for races in a game that prioritizes car collection.
Used Car lot is very slow to refresh cars.
Used Car lot has "limited supply" of fan favorite vehicles.
The inability to sell vehicles, something the current Playstation Store page for the game even seems to suggest you can do.
Every time you earn credits, reminders that you can buy credits in the PSN store.
Said credits in the PSN store being rather pricey for those trying to buy the more expensive cars.
Car prices higher than in previous GT titles.
High end fan favorite cars that could be bought with in-game credits in previous titles now locked behind a limited time offer "Invitation" system that requires you to buy it now or risk never getting another chance to buy it again.

... The list goes on. My recommendation, avoid this game. At the very least, hold off and hope some major changes come to the game that fixes a lot of the issues. Maybe by then, it'll hopefully be cheaper than $70 USD...

Shameless. Cars that you easily get in other racing games can be charged 100 actual USD in GT7, no way to play almost all of its single player components offine, patching out races that gives more reward than they intended. It's a good game when the servers are online, but it's not worth the time and money required.

my big problem is the changes that were implemented with the microtransactions, turning this game into a very ugly pay to win, and the graphics of the third person camera did not match the history of gran turismo.

Base gameplay is expectedly great, but severally disappointed by the cynical, anti-consumer MTX system bogging down progression. This is completely shameful of Sony to implement such as egregious system in a $70 game. I’ve bought every 1st party Sony game on PS5 so far at $70. No more. Sony doesn’t deserve the support unless they pull a complete reversal on this.

GT7 is a great driving game, ruined by greed. How much time do I have to spend playing the game to access those exclusive cars? I do not know, and I don´t have that much free time to play it.

Reduction in payouts from races in a game where sought after cars are only available for a short amount of time and at astronomical prices that coupled with the fact the game is online only and you can't play the majority of the game without an internet connection. As many people stated, they want to reflect real life pricing on cars in the game. It’s just that the payout is so low that I am reaching the point where I can’t commit the time it takes to obtain what I want in this game. Can’t even sell cars in your garage. I tend to keep getting low payout raffle prizes. It’s as if the game is doing everything in it’s ability to keep me from winning more money.

I personally have an issue with the used car market as well. First off, unlike previous Gran Turismo used markets. The cars only refresh once a day and only a few cars will change at a time. Parts for modifying cars also seem over priced because of the ridiculous low payouts.

It really seems as if they ruined such a great product. I’ve seen games with microtransactions but I have never felt them ruin a game as much as this. The apology letter that was sent was total BS mentions of not making a game where you have to grind for money but with payouts like this, what choice would one have? You have ruined a great game.

As someone who played GT3 & GT4 I know progress takes takes time but in GT7 it’s just abnormal. I’m 34 and have full time job and a family, I don’t have the same spare time I had as a single teenager to spend just to get the credits to be able to buy the cars I want.

The cars I would like to drive cost millions of credits and are only available after invites which expire. They seem as unreachable ingame as in real life.

After the last update in which they even made it harder to earn credits ingame the developer made a statement that they want to reflect the real life value and rarity of these cars.

Why? This is a game, a driving simulator, not a real life simulator. I play games to escape from real life and enjoy things I can’t or won’t do in real life.

I don’t play any F2P games due the push towards monetisation and I refuse to buy any credits for real money in a game I’ve bought for €80,-.

I’ve lost the appetite for this game in the state it is in and I’ve put it aside. I picked up Horizon Forbidden West again, hopefully GT7 will be fixed when I finish that. And if they don’t fix this it will be the last Gran Turismo I’ve played and I’ll wait with buying any next Sony game until it’s clear that they’re not ruined by the bad management which screwed up this game.

The 'permanent' online 'feature' is about as stable and reliable as a recent US president. It drops out so regularly that one wonders if they are running the servers on a raspberry pi with an acoustic coupled 2600 baud modem? This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't instantly kick you out of everything you've been doing and lose your hard earned awards.

Then there's the excessive load times between functions and features. This only exacerbates the frustration because you spend so much time just trying to carry on with the game. There is a massive lack of actual playable single player content and the multiplayer content is less playable than the previous versions. It is still annoyingly policed by some ai which has some 'creative' choices on rule application.

The only bright spot is that the new rendering in race is beautiful, but that on it's own is not enough for the cost of a PS5 and this game.

I've created an account on Metacritic just to warn other prospective gamers not to fall for the same trap as myself and many others - there are plenty of other racing sims more worthy of your hard-earned cash.

To further add insult to injury, what is mostly a SP game cannot be played without an online connection, which is fine if Polyphony Digital were competent enough to keep their own servers up without 30 hour downtimes. This developer has clearly never heard of a "roll-back" plan, and was more concerned about the MTX it would be losing.

To top of it all off, Kazunori's apology must surely contend as the most pathetic excuse for a developer's actions. Just as Kazunori's statement skirts around facts, this review will also glance over the good that the game had potential to offer.

The only way to save face now is to pull a U-Turn and:
    - Allow SP to be played offline
    - Allow selling of cars (just like in the real world) - is this not a simulator?
    - Buff race rewards
    - Buff daily marathon rewards
    - Introduce daily challenges with increased rewards
    - If you insist on keeping MTX, bring credit to cost ratio in-line with predecessors
    - Justify why some cars are valued more than 3x the cost of the game itself?
    - Remove time limited legendary / invite only cars pressuring player base into MTX, particularly those that are vulnerable
    - Remove 20M credit cap on earned credits, given that single cars cost up to 20M. Interestingly, no cap on MTX credit

Absolutely a disaster in this state, wait before you buy, do yourself a favor and keep enjoying GT Sport.
Personally, I'm very disappointing after all these years of waiting for a proper Grand Turismo.
The game had the potential of being great if it wasn't that the only nature of its contents is for the only purpose of pushing the consumer to spend real cash for virtual nonsense. I'm

I'm pretty sure by now everybody is aware of the nature of the game.
Predatory microtransactions need to be banned when they interfere with the integrity of the creator and the quality of the game itself and go against the consumer,
make an FTP version of it if you want to profit this way.

    Can't sell your cars?
Have to pay more than the initial purchase of the game for cars you might want?
    Decreasing the winnings from races?
CEO says they need to keep prices more realistic? Sir, an air filter does not cost $2500 get a grip on reality..

From my perspective, I am a massive fan of GT games of the past but after a few weeks of GT7 I have completed all the single player mode and Iv basically stopped playing anymore as my only reasonable option for driving the cars I would like to is to spend hundreds of dollars of my actual money, Im not gunna do some dumb races hundreds of times to earn money. When I play GT games I either play online or do time trials in single player mode which either earn you literal pocket change or non at all. So that means I could play GT7 every day for a few hours and never be able to buy a couple sets of racing tires let alone a $18,500,000 car. I can’t believe how scummy this game is… I was gunna buy a newer racing wheel and a PS5 (been playing on a ps4 pro) but holy cow thank god I didn’t I would be absolutely livid. Turning on this game just makes me mad.
    $29 CAD for a fraction of a car… eat me GT7.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
