So sad that Sony and Polyphony Digital have decided to scam their customers.

if the plan was to ruin a once great game - then they should be proud. Sadly this game has been ruined by pure greed.

Then there's the gameplay which tbh can be fun in certain races but I have had so many races where I'm quite frankly bored, the Endurance and nascar being some of the worst offenders. Also the campaign can frequently leave you frustrated as npc's on every difficulty can spin you out in a moments notice without any warning or penalty attached to it. Then last but not least there's the pesky microtransactions that quite frankly breaks the game as they are really hard to avoid especially after the latest patch which nerfs the prize money and ups the prices of some cars. This in my opinion was the last straw for me which makes me want to give it up. How did poliphony not realise this would annoy players and push them away from ever picking it up again. Beats me. Do yourself a favour and buy from a developer that actually cares about their playerbase.

I thought $70 was a lot but that I would be rewarded. I poured hours into the game over the first week and was moderately annoyed at the roulette wheel, but could live with it. Little did I know this was an online only pay to win game. I would never have bought it for that price. As soon as the server was cut I could not play the single player game (it makes me sick to my stomach that I wasted money on this, I could play that stupid real racing 3 on my phone for free if I wanted that experience). Then I find out they are nerfing the already low payouts for races, not to mention used cars like the GT-R from the mid nineties going for $369000 (that is just insane). The prizes for winning were still pinned to 1998, but the cost of the cars pinned to some insane currently inflated price tag, and then they cut it in half. That is just nuts.

Sony and PD, why on earth would I even turn the game on again at this point. I haven't, it has sat unplayed for almost a week now on this news. I can't even understand the calculus behind the decision, unless it is just pure greed, again if I wanted to play a game like that I could just play that stupid mobile game real racing 3. I have no interest in F2P, and I certainly feel ripped off right now. I am angry that I even invested in a wheel and pedals to play this game and then this happened. What a bait and switch, what poor practice, what poor handling. I hope this game score hits 0.0 and lives in infamy for how to poorly handle your most loyal customers. Because what you are doing is sticking your thumb in the eye of the people who cared most about your system and your game. GT7 is the reason a lot of people even chose PS5 over Xbox SX... Well it used to be, it probably will be a reason people choose to not return now. Seriously, if I was in your shoes I would be fixing this today, not tomorrow, not next week, not in a month, today. Because, quite frankly, the damage you are doing to your reputation and the rep of this series is pretty close to irreversible.

I hope you read these reviews, a lot of people are upset, and it is because you changed the fundamentals of a solid game into a cash cow for milking. Treating your customers with disrespect by breaking the game and MTX is always a way to lose money and support.

Based on the 25th Anniversary addition on the PS4. £89.99 in the U.K.

    Positives:
-Good ‘car’ rewards for races in the café segment of the game.
-Great gameplay and attention to racing detail as usual from the GT series.
-Good development as you progress through the café challenges.
    -Nice additions to moding etc.

    Problems:
    - Great ‘half’ of a game. 9 out of 10 for the half a game that is currently here (not including micro-transactions). 9 divided by 2 (for only being half a game) = 4.5 out of 10. Then you have to minus at least 2 (per half game) for the broken game economy. This means what should be 9 out of 10 game ends up at around 2.5 out of 10 (at the moment)! I do have hope that Sony and Polyphony will address problems in future patch releases.

-Cost of cars, upgrades, moding, etc as a ratio to winnable credits. People are saying they have a problem with these ‘micro-transactions’. I would say they are just ‘transactions’ at this point, there is nothing ‘micro’ about them! As an example: to get a GT vision car (of most car brands) it usually costs 1 million credits. If you wish to skip the grind and buy this then 2 million credits cost £15 (in the U.K). That is £7.50 of real money for a digital asset that is 1 out the 425 odd cars available. Added to this is the fact this ‘asset’ will then become obsolete when the next game is released. It’s not like your cars roll over to the next game or you ‘own’ that digital asset as an NFT or something of the like. If you do wish to grind then lets say you race the GT-R race on the Tokyo Expressway for 40,000 credits. (I have found this to be an efficient race to acquire credits). If you get a clean race bonus then this = 60,000 credits. This race takes roughly 8 minutes to complete (4 laps at around 2 minutes each). You would have to do this race 17 times to afford a GT vison car. That is 136 minutes of players lives. What happens then if the car you have bought stinks?

-Not being able to test drive cars before buying. When you have grinded for far too long and buy a dud of a car it is even more demoralizing and frustrating that credits are so hard to come by. Being able to test drive cars will stop this. A car will still feel special and reflect ‘real world value’ as Mr Kazunori Yamauchi said in his statement, but the player wouldn’t have wasted a huge amount of time and credits on cars that doesn’t suit their driving style etc. In real life people test drive cars. Why not here?

-Inability to sell cars. The first GT games had this. If there is not the ability to test drive cars then this is a minimum. Cost of credits (either by time spent or real world cost) x the inability to test a car means you are often left massively frustrated at wasting credits (and thus time) on cars that don’t suit ones driving style. By selling cars you could then at least recoup some of that wasted time/credits.

-Fixed daily ‘rewards’. Why not just give the meagre reward immediately? Why dangle possible winnings and then 90% of the time give the worst one? Just give the reward directly. This just causes disappointment and frustration. If already fixed then just give that ‘reward’.

-B/S statement about patch 1.7/1.8 and wanting to allow people to enjoy all the cars and races. The actual actions of patch 1.7/1.8 completely contradict this statement. IT WAS ALREADY A GRIND before patch 1.7/1.8! Why would you decrease rewards other than to increase real world spend? By decreasing rewards you are making it impossible for most people to enjoy the game. Now the game is more like a job. For a computer game!?! Patrons have forked out both a lot of money and time on a game, A GAME. If this statement from the top leadership is genuinely felt then there is a real disconnect with many fans on how they want to play this game (and maybe all computer games). Mr Kazunori Yamauchi asks people to take a long term view on upcoming additions (which I am sure will be awesome). I would ask is Mr Kazunori Yamauchi taking a long term view of his brand and game? The short term damage this is doing to the game, brand, fanbase etc could be irreparable.

-From an even wider perspective, @Sony have a real issue on their hands. GT (as a Playstation exclusive) is one of the main reasons many people have stuck with Playstation over Xbox (since the PS1 onwards). This added to the PS5 availability debacle and I’m seriously contemplating for the very first time whether to move consoles. I am sure I’m not unique in this feeling. If someone had said this to me a few years ago I would have slapped them. I am a massive Sony PS fanboy, but there is clearly a massive gap in leadership at the top. That, or at the very least a massive disconnect with their customers. One can only think this is for short term profit but to the massive damage to the long term brand and its profitability.

Single player must be online for some reason and server maintenance shutting the server down for more than a day only to come up with a terrible patch ruined the game. There seems to be some very short sighted upper management decisions that cut rewards for racing in half making it a massive grind to obtain credits and buy cars. It saddens me how low this franchise has gone since the golden years of GT. To resort to this sort of behaviour of not letting initial reviewers play the game that have the microtransactions should not be allowed legally. The day-one patch changed the mechanics of the game so much it can be considered a totally different game.

The grind in this game is absolutely not feasible for people that don't want to dedicate hundreds of hours just to unlock a few cars, they prey on this to force you into buying credits.

Don't know what else to say, I'm completely gutted by this game, a real shame.

Post launch updates have also made sure to sir to adjust the balance of payouts between races. The grinding is meant to be an inconvenience to the player, comma and hopefully persuade them into skipping the loop and opting into buying virtual currency in order to enjoy the game faster. It is a highly predatory practice, especially if you include the fact that players can no longer sell their used cars as they were able to previously do in older Gran Turismo titles for faster credits. Avoid this game at all costs and pick a racing simularor that does not pray on its players nearly as much. Expand

Gran Turismo 7: The Real Pressurised into Buying Microtransactions Simulator.

So you’ve just spent £90 on the latest Gran Turismo game and you want a chance to experience driving a really rare and exotic car you wouldn’t normally have the chance to drive in real life?

Caveat: you only have a week to get the necessary amount of credits until your randomly selected invitation expires or said car disappears from the showroom never to be seen again for an unknown amount of time. Who knows when you will have the chance to buy this car again? Let’s weigh up our options in how to purchase this car.

Either monotonously grind the same race for an 21 hour period, play the game normally for a 93 hour period (by which time the car you wanted has disappeared into the ether) or yes you guessed it! Buy credits with real money! Let’s see how much to buy this 18.5 million credit car - oh just £200. Do you want to top up your credits in the PlayStation Store?

Not even mentioning the lack of additional content from GT Sport, the godawful AI and ‘chase the rabbit’ style races, the fact that the majority of online is unplayable due to broken lobbies and the constant need to be connected online, Sony and Polyphony should be embarrassed in how they are treating their customers with these anti consumer tactics.

The core driving experience is excellent, hook up a driving wheel and this is easily 10/10 .. cars and tuning representation from the interiors, exteriors, livery editor, and photo mode also excellent.

That said, the Cafe is NOT a campaign, more of a side mission. For a game that literally took 2 console generations to complete (remember, GT6 was released on PS3), that's a huge blow.
