The next grand entry into the Diablo franchise, and boy does it not disappoint:

    Pros:

    - An 8-12 hour story experience that's very immersive and holds together mostly well. After the first playthrough the game allows you to skip the story so you can just jump into doing whatever you'd like.

    - Varied, extensive endgame activities to power your character up in numerous ways (Helltides, World Bosses, Tree of Whispers, Nightmare/Regular dungeons)

    - Every class feels unique, and for how simple the skill tree looked, there is a really good amount of build diversity (4-6 builds per class).

    - The game flows amazingly well, most aspects of it's activities are simple enough to understand, and only min-maxing will require further research.

    - Those seeking a bit more complexity can find it in the paragon boards that allows you to shape them in a way that fits your character, with unique and powerful effects, and 9 different boards per class.

    - The atmosphere and the look of the world is simply stunning, and very well done. The cinematics also never disappoint, especially considering that the Player character is now present in them as well.

    - Itemizations, whilst simple, still has a lot of options and variables/tools to shape your character in a way you'd like. The idea of a Best-in-Slot item is there, and it's sufficently hard to get. To add onto that, it never feels bad to replace a legendary item with a regular rare item, because you can always just re-use the effect once from your old piece of gear.

    - The cash shop, despite all the fears people have had regarding it is an absolute non-issue. The earnable game sets look just as, if not better than the ones on sale. There is no power offered here, only cool cosmetics at reasonably high prices.

    Cons:

    - The renown system/lilith statue system is completely fine on the first playthrough, however having the renown "grind" be subsequently required every 3 months with seasonal content will dampen the mood quite a bit.

    - Limited Endgame: I list this as a con, but in reality most other ARPGs started with much less than this. Diablo 4 has a fantastic skeleton that the team clearly plans to expand upon in seasonal updates.

    - Damage buckets make stat priorities among classes a bit samey.

Overall I feel like giving this game any worse than a 6 (And that's really trying to hate on it), or better than an 8 feels disingenous, the released base product is absolutely fantastic, and people giving it a 0-4 are just blantantly trying to discredit all the hard work the team has done over the last several years.

If you are a normal person and not mentally ill this game is great, never played Diablo before, so this is a first, and I must say I am blown away. Since this is Blizzard my expectations were really low, but they delivered a really solid product, and of course the gaming community still complains.

I am starting to feel like we deserve bad games since 90% of us are tasteless troglodytes....

Well. I'm Necromancer lvl 73. I play since the open Beta. There has been 3 server stress tests. There has been a closed bêta 6 month ago. But none of these beta helped the server stability.

Early acess 02/06/23 : minor bugs, servers were working pretty well. I progress through the campaign with my friends and it went pretty well. But once we achieved endgame features, there's a lot of bugs.
Nightmare dungeons : bugged. You can't go in with friends because you will be desynchronised 1 dungeon out of 2.
Helltide : unplayable with lags. you'll die everytime you take a lag, and you'll lose your components.

Release date 06/06/23 : lags everytime. Permanent lags, so totally unplayable endgame features

    08/06/23 22h30 GMT+1 : Crash server. Can't play. Only 2 days since release.

Enough with server problems. There's also class balance problems. Barbarian is Godlike, rogue is too squishy (gets one shotted by almost everything), necromancer has literraly 0 mobility, druid is unkillable, and sorcerer is the only balanced class.

Let's talk about campaign : Act 1, 2, 3 ,4 and 5 are Star Wars Disney tier. Act 6 is a real masterpiece.
Campaign boss fights are for retarded ppl. they have 0 mechanics, they just have a ton of hp.
Only Lilith have a real boss fight. And Elias after the campaign will have a real boss fight too.

The Artistic Direction is perfect. that's why i give them 1 point.
Sound Design is good, but Lost Ark is better at it.

There's a lack of features in the UI. We can't see other player's profile. there's no statistics, can't watch playtime, there's no ladder.
There's no search bar for items in the stash. Gems take too much space

And there's a ton of other bugs, like sometimes you can't use any ability or dash. Sometimes the horse's pathfinding will totally bug. Cinematics will sometimes bug when you play with friends, only 1 in the group will the dialogues / cinematics.

There's no diversity in the bestiary and the dungeon bosses or in the decorations. All monsters are recycled with different color, and they are spread all over the entire map. Dungeons are procedural but you will see always the same monsters in them.
Dungeon Bosses are catastrophic. Distant / Mage bosses are retarded, they do no damage so you can just burst them with any build.
Melee Bosses are a nightmare, they run faster than you, have an attack speed higher than the light speed. So you almost can't kite them and if you don't play barbarian, druid or sorcerer frost you'll just instant die.

To sum up, this game is **** tier and doesn't deserve your money, let Blizzard sink.

D4 doesn't bring anything new. If you want to farm maps you do the same map layout. In D3 you do random generated map.
    No teleport to dongen entrence.
We don't have ESC to pause the game. Its needed in HC solo or if you have kids.
    ther is no lider board.
No armory save for build swap.

This is coming from a guy who's put several 1000's of hours into previous diablos going back to the first one.
Honestly the worst thing about this game is all the fanboy apologists who viciously defend any and every criticism of the game. The ferocity is real and intense, people.

Honestly the worst thing about this game is all the fanboy apologists who viciously defend any and every criticism of the game. The ferocity is real and intense, people.
The game itself isn't terrible, but there are plenty of better ones out there. After leveling 1 char to 100 and 2 others past 50, here's what I didn't like:
    - Enemies ALWAYS scale to your level. You can never really have that fun relaxing overpowered grinding until after level 50, in which you can gear up and keep the world tier low. But by then, there's no reason to.
    - Only 6 skills are usable at any time, no exceptions. Classes like necro and sorc would've been really fun and more tactical if you could actually use all the skills you allocate, but they don't let you.
    - Everything is so slow. After coming from Path Of Exile and Chaosbane, EVERYTHING is so damn slow. Killing enemies, moving, dying. It's like Dark Souls vs Bayonetta.
    - Online only, even if you wanna play solo. This to me was the worst part, because the server seems to constantly have issues, sometimes you can't log in, and you need constant good internet as well. Just annoying especially for those who don't care about multiplayer.
    - Badly tuned bosses, often dependent on RNG. Sometimes the adds drop healing potions, sometimes they don't and you die. Oh, and you can't overlevel, as mentioned above, because they'll just get stronger with you. Yeah, it's dumb.
    - Respeccing costs money. A LOT when you're high level. This is annoying because sometimes your build just really can't beat a boss, and you spent an hour getting to him.
    - Thus far, anytime people found a really strong class build, it's been nerfed to the ground. While you could argue that it's necessary, there are other ways to keep balance, and the D4 team seems to be taking nerfs a little to the extreme. Pretty lame and very inconsiderate if you've spent dozens of hours on building a certain way.

So this definitely hits right for some people, but I found it a waste of $80. Wait for $30 and you'll get your money's worth. The whole game just feels like it was created by investors and accountants.

    A) You definitely feel like a badass who runs around the world crushing demons left and right.
    B) Campaign is well done. Great cutscenes, easy for you to railroad at your own discretion, very thematically "diablo".
    C) The power progression is well done. Starts out simple, and layers on complexity so help a new player slowly figure out how the core mechanics work (skills, then enhancements, then aspects, then paragon powers)
    C) Lots of fun theorizing new builds and reasonably easy way to respect your character to test them
    D) Large open world that I enjoyed exploring.

The game after the campaign gets repetitive quickly, you'll be doing the same activities over and over with very little reward. In other ARPGs you would expect to find better gear progressively, but after lvl70 or even lvl60 you won't find much to keep you going. I feel like the developers just didn't have enough time to put enough content in the endgame and are hoping to fill that out later with expansions and such. So maybe the game will get better, but for a $70 release I can't give this more than a 6/10. Expand

    3. The monetization. The game is changing upwards of 25 dollars for a armor skin in a full priced game lmao. Seriously, it was less then that to buy the necromancer class in Diablo 3, or for a full fleshed out expansion in Diablo 2. You can't unlock the skins in the game either.

The end game is a disaster, you just farm up and gear up to do what exactly.... There is no challenging content and the monsters scale with you so you actually get weaker as you level overall.
Maybe it will be good in a year but only if they remove scaling

Offering 'early access' for money is egregious enough for me to rate this 0/10.

But then there are a myriad of other things that would make me want to rate this even worse.

    - cash shop with absurd prices in an already full-price game
-contrary to crap IGN is spouting, there is absolutely no endgame at all
    - this is touted as a 'live-service'. Well, live services are usually free to play and receive a plethora of free updates, such as fortnite, LoL, Dota2, CSGO. Take Path of Exile for example: It received more content in a 3-6 month span, than Diablo 3 did in 5 years. The little content Diablo 4 will receive, will be paid DLC.
    - how is it, that a triple-A game developed entirely for console has no proper controller support on PC, when even $3 games on steam can pull that off? PS5 controllers only work with DS4 (or cable, lol)
    - no feature parity, same price - Where is local coop on PC?
    - this is basically an open-world AARPG, which is unfortunate because open world offers absolutely
zero replayability. Do you really want to finish the story and collect all this garbage all over the map for every season? I couldn't even bring myself to do it on 1 character.
    - the scaling feels incredibly awful. Playing world events with a lvl 50? Well, that level 10 guy next to you could do it solo. Farmed/explored some area? Doesn't matter, everything else is now a couple level higher. There is no sense of progress, all skills feel mediocre: You'll succeed whether you min/max everything or just equip a couple blue items.
    - skills/builds are extremely formulaic. Everything feels so similar. Illusion of choice or no choice at all.
    - clunky mounts. Seriously, who thought this needed momentum physics?
    - no offline mode. I don't really care, but considering the poor server performance on release day, especially in hubs, this is a con.
    - the world is entirely forgettable - I just played this and all I remember is a series of canyons and tunnels, zone after zone.

This entire 'game' is nothing but an empty shell to extract as much money as possible from the player, offering little or nothing in return. I hate what gaming has become.

Due to the irresponsible patching of the management, the "Rogue" players felt angry and disappointed. Not only did the patch simply nerf the character, but the mechanism of character play itself collapsed, and there was no reason to play "Rogue" anymore after the endgame.

The campaign is a walking simulator, the bosses are forgettable, and the plot is unenjoyable at the end.

The main elements of an arpg are character progression and loot. This game makes both of those things unenjoyable. I dreaded progression because I knew monsters would be absorbing more damage, and my items would become more obsolete every time I grinded to a new level. I approached this game with an open mind. I wanted to accept it for what it is and not be attached to the mechanics of other classic Diablo games. Unfortunately the game, on its own, is just a very bad player experience.

Servers have been holding out but we still get some lagging issues and rubber banding. Progression is mediocer controlled by overpriced upgrading system to hold gold inflation down.

Worst part is without a doubt how expensive respecing is and it forces players not to make too many changes to the builds. That is VERY bad and could have been done differently.

Game will be dead within one or two months. Seasons will be very boring cause of renown grind rather than enjoyable gameplay.

This is a review written by and for players age 25-40 who played various Blizzard games, and the ARPG in general. I looked forward to Diablo 4 for about a year thinking they could not go wrong with this game. Hearing the first reviews saying it is better than Diablo 3, I felt Diablo 4 could not go wrong.

Oh boy was I wrong. Diablo has 2 playmodes. Regular and Hardcore. In the first you can die, respawn and play the game till endgame. Death is of little consequence. In this experience you will quickly learn that the game is really easy most of the time and death happens, but I never truly felt like it was my fault. This is the gamemode to play when you can stand losing and wasting time, but at the risk that the endgame becomes boring REALLY quickly. Hardcore is the exact same game, but if you die, you have to start the entire game over again.

That last gamemode? That is how I like to play Diablo. Because the game can become too easy, having a permanent risk to lose a 20-80 hour character because of a single mistake, makes the entire game more enjoyable. Now here comes the biggest issue. The chance of a bug, or a disconnect being the reason you lose your hardcore character is so incredibly pronounced right now. It is going to ruin your entire experience with the game, when it happens twice in a row. Which it did for me.

But Blizzard made a game, with little to no depth. Where the game doesn't become harder over time, but you become weaker over time. Now 95% of players won't notice this at first, until their level 50 character is fighting a boss, and a level 5 barbarian just burns the boss down. Because there is level scaling ánd multiplayer coop, these two worlds don't mix. The fact that you are consistently reminded that you NEED to grind gear for hours and hours only to have the same effectiveness as someone 30 levels below you. You start to realize that 90% of this game was designed to keep players exited for new gear, upgrades and skills. Which they now NEED, to play the game with the same difficulty with people 30 levels lower than them.

What Diablo 4 is, is a 30 euro arcade game with little to no depth in gameplay, generic gaming mechanics that are seen in Diablo 3 and Word of Warcraft. It literally does nothing original. The story is great, and you feel like someone who truly is facing evil without any self preservation, but in reality 90% of the game is doing stupid chores for people who did something stupid with tons of demons roaming around.

And at the 50 hour mark, with I realized I was enjoying the game the most around level 30 because that was when you still feel like you look forward to something, yet are a little too weak for the stronger content. Once you hit the harder content, the game is still the exact same, but you die a little faster.

Now imagine that endgame requires you to grind for DOZENS of hours, only so you can keep up with low level players. You literally have to grind the game into boredom. To enjoy the game as much as a starting player.

They ask 70 dollars for this game, remind you the entire time to upgrade and buy coins. And deliver a product worth 30 bucks with half a story waiting for 40 dollar DLC, a "new" class and the same grind all over again.

If you think World of Warcraft can waste your time? Diablo 4 does it better.

A sad trend in modern days' game's production.

A sad trend in modern days' game's production.

No, this marvel hasn't been fully tested in-house. It's been thoroughly played with dev-only cheats.
Any serious but mainly ethical, software developer knows a piece doesn't reach release-ready state without first testing how the real-world user experience will be like.

Onto the required comparisons with early Diablos.

    Diablo IV vs. Diablo.
Well, the dark, eerie setting is back. Kudos on that. Even D2 failed to bring back that atmosphere. Graphically, it's obvious that D4 SHOULD run quantum leap rings around the former! No extra points here. Drops, mechanics, replay ability... Diablo wins hands down. It never became as boring as any of it's later iterations, simply because each and every freaking dungeon was different! Nothing the after coming have achieved.

    Diablo IV vs. Diablo II.
D4 crew thought their skill tree, the sickly bastard of D2's and POE's, would kick nether zones, because of it's inherent mix and match options. Something along the lines of "Every build will be different, it'll be your own" was said in their dev logs. Not so, sadly. We're back to the disgusting D3 meta builds.

    Diablo IV vs. Diablo III.
I think most of us who went through the early D3 failure would think that blizzard would be keen on avoiding that mess. Guess what? They might have a bit of a thing for it. They may love said mess, even!
Yes, they got rid of the REALLY dumb cartoony, WOW style graphics, granted. And much thankful for that I am, truly am. D3 still reeks in some areas. Granted too.

But guess what? Ditching everything that didn't stink in D3 was a huge failure. The sheer amount of legendaries we got in that game meant you could make a WIP character that could manage to take the player from 50 to 70 with some thinking and effort, no matter if the drops were 5 levels down, they would make your UNIQUE build work for some time. Until you found those game-breaking set pieces so you could do the meta build too... Yes, that thing about D3 still stinks.

    Diablo IV vs. Diablo Immortal.
That's mobile game stuff, I'll never delve into that other excuse of a game. Sorry, old fashioned PC gamer here.

Now, why D4 might fail on the long run?
It might not! Why? Game consumers today, are rather inclined to purchase a product based on looks rather than quality. Blizzard has them covered here.

I'll let you answer this. How many patches did every Diablo iteration had? Find the pattern there.
D4 will have thrice as many, or more as D3 ever had in eleven years.

You need further evidence that this is nothing but a beta?
How about constant crashes, in either entry level or high end hardware? Yes, not one dev can claim it has completely tested in every hw configuration. Granted. But we have one too many people with the SAME problem in a very wide spectrum of configurations, from the oldest video cards, to the top high end ones. Have a stroll on the official forums, I kid you not. Some of them that ran D4 in the best looking configs at public beta tests.

I ran those at 1080, high res textures on with no problem. Come release, 720p at the lowest, ugliest settings and still crash every so often. Because there's no full screen option, nope, you have to run the bleeder, windowed. Full screen or not, that's the game running in a window. Most every seasoned game knows that's going to have an impact on performance. That's a fugly beta.
Funny how the mainstream reviewers seemingly had a problem-free experience... My take is that there must be some perk involved.

I'd rant some more but seems to me, we have every corner of the problems covered with the previous reviews.

Best Diablo iteration? It is not. Not by a long, very long shot.

I feel a rating anywhere from 4-7 is fair for this game. It's not the worst game out there by far but it has some real issues in how fun it comes across. I'm only going to hit on the main parts. I played to level 50 and made it through most of the story but I'm just bored. I've been excited for this game to come out for years and I'm just so disappointed.

    1. Gems sucks. I literally have a stash full of gems and don't even bother attempting to socket them to anything. Any benefit they do is just so minimal that most of them aren't even worth my time. Remember when you got life or mana steal? Or when topaz/ruby/sapphire meant elemental damage? No longer. Now it's a very small bonus per kill for skulls, or a tiny bonus to overpower damage which has only a 3% chance of triggering.

    2. Bonuses on items are ridiculously specific. Similar to gems here. Items are a huge part of this game though, if your benefits suck then the overall game will be hurt. 5% bonus damage to close enemies (and that's one of the best bonuses). Others are more like, if your enemy is under a special status you can have a tiny percent chance of getting something minorly good. This makes swapping out items take more time to compare and adds to the overall boredom of the game. I want to kill demons I don't want to sit down with a spread sheet and debate on which item will be better in the long run.

    3. Auto scaling. This is one of the worst decisions they could have ever made. All the enemies scale to your level. Yay, I got a new level...wait, why is everything harder? Oh that's because leveling up actually works against you in this game. Items make you powerful, experience makes everyone else powerful. I can kill bosses and the best item I get is a rare that is over 10 levels below my own! Diablo has always had an element of items being important in your overall character but now items are so important I don't like leveling up. Once you have access to all your abilities around level 20-25 I believe, there is not much more reason to level up.

Just my 2 cents. This is a sad day when I can't finish a diablo game out of boredom.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Does good things in some categories, and very poorly in others. Unfortunately the poorly designed categories outweigh what is done well in the game.

    Starting with the good stuff:
in the first play through you experience a quite joyful campaign. Characters feel visually appealing as your progress and find ways that items and skills further enhance your playthrough. Cinematics in the game are some of the best I've personally seen, and sound/audio is nicely designed within the game.

    The Ugly:
While combat, first run in the campaign, cinematics and sound may appear pleasant at first, the daunting tasks and playstyle ahead is what completely ruins the game afterwards. The largest and biggest issue within the game currently lies within its itemization design, and even more troubling is that this is meant to be a loot-based ARPG, that focuses on the loot systems and designs. During the play through you gear up in Tiers 1 and/or 2, to progress into Tier 3. In Tier 3, you are met with Sacred items that are more powerful than your current ones. This period is really meant for you to progress to Tier 4, which now introduces Ancestral Items, same thing, just more powerful. As this alone is unexciting and more of a chore, the items themselves contain a massive amount of non-simplistic affixes that further hinder enjoyment. The items do not feel rewarding and are not special in any way really, therefore you are just bombarded with random items that you end up spending more time on shuffling in the inventory than you do enjoying any gameplay. The progression in items is so lackluster that they generally provide you with extremely minimal increases in power on of top not providing any unique design to items themselves. While there are unique items in the game, there are very few of them. And things only get worse from here, these items are locked to your character level, as well as only tradable if they are rare items, therefore excluding any uniques and legendaries to be traded to others. Now there are restrictions on what you are able to trade (which is practically nothing) and only able to use your well deserved finds on characters that meet the high level requirement on alternate characters. So now as you grind, you are showered with useless "rare" items and a few uniques (which you will have several copies of) only to end up having to sit and read what feels like pages of affixes in order to make a decision on whether you want to change your build 0.1% this way or that way. The are also no other uses for any of these items as trading is restricted and the only type of "crafting" in the game is re-rolling an affix on an item.

This entire chore filled and very repetitive and very little rewarding itemization system does not fulfill any kind of excitement for loot or building of a character, especially in later levels as there is nothing else to look forward to. You will simply grind the same content, with very very little upgrades ever provided to you, and a guarantee shower of useless items that you will not know what to do with.

There are several more issues that itemization presents that would be too long to elaborate on. Other issues are the social aspect of the game. As this is a "MMO" there aren't any great ways of actually communicating with others, which also seems shocking. The is no trade chat (trading is non existent anyway), no global chat, and a very unsatisfying local channel. Currently the best way to find others is through third-party apps such as discord.

World boss and other events do not provide anything meaningful in the game. Most world bosses are defeated within the first couple minutes, occur every 6 hours, and provide you with the same useless gear as the rest of the game.

Overall, this is a very disappointing release of another Diablo series, while I was personally very excited for the game and played it to lvl 100 on top of a second character to T4, there is little excitement to any gameplay. It is a shame as the Diablo series that I assume most hoped for, is yet again not what we expected. And by far the largest disappointment is the way they designed items, what you can do with them, how they feel, and the very underwhelming experience they provide in gameplay.

As a long long fan of Diablo, I unfortunately do not recommend this game.

Let's get down to the nitty and the gritty. Diablo 4 isn't a complete game. Diablo 4 is Blizzard's attempt to mobilize their PC and console content. What do I mean by that? It's simple, the world of Sanctuary in D4 is a world where you are doing random activities that mean absolutely nothing to the landscape or the story you are progressing.

Your only source of change in this world is buying cosmetics. The world is made incomprehensibly grindy and hard because Blizzard nerfs the content to be that way. The grind is created in the hopes that while you are in the game you will get fed up with playing and buy something to comfort yourself.

I bought the Season even though everything told me not to. I can tell you right now, you are going to go and do rehashed dungeons with half the power you once wielded with the same talents, and you will be told this is game play. You will pick up nothing of value from these rehashed dungeons. These seasons are created strictly cause POE exist. You must understand I have never commented on metacritic before.

This time I felt obligated to do so to warn people that this is not a real game. Blizzard couldn't even be moved to change the map once you beat the campaign boss. Absolutely nothing changes once you fell the big bad and save the land. What was the rise in price tag for? For the honor of getting a PC game out of blizzard? You can't even blame the critics who probably got suckered into liking this game. What they received was a copy of something that wasn't truly fulfilled.

I will give this game a five because the visuals the voice acting and the animation are top notch. I wish the game play was just as compelling. It's a shame that all this artistic talent has been wasted on poor game designers and world builders.

Blizzard knows how to make a game, they just don't think they have to. I am ashamed I bought this product twice proving them right. Never again.

I still cannot believe that this is the product of over 6 years of development. It simply does not show. This feels more like a smaller studio trying their first stab at an ARPG, rather than an established studio making a new iteration of a (once) great franchise. Sadly, with this 4th and latest instalment, Blizzard has damaged the Diablo franchise to a point where I doubt recovery is possible.

    - Builds are very limited
    - Resistances are broken
    - Many QOL features are completely missing
    - Open world feels dead and boring
    - Quest are repetitive
    - Dungeons are repetitive
    - End game does not exist
    - Cool down on mount is too long
    - Uniques feel underwhelming. Not enough variety.

A huge disappointment, everything about this game is bad.
    1. Graphics - worse than the 3rd part
    2. Gameplay is very slow
    3. There is no endgame, it is not interesting to collect items
    4. The plot is simple and banal

A great setup both in campaign, and endgame content.

Reviewing at a 10 even though I believe the current state of the game really deserves an 8 but considering the sheer amount of review bombing trying to offset that damage.

Diablo 4 is a great foundation for what could become the best Diablo game yet. It slows the pace a bit back from the arcade-like feel of Diablo 3 and has, in my opinion, the most compelling story of the games I have played thus far. The leveling experience is great and I have thoroughly enjoyed the transition to mid game, even if balancing has some room to improve. The soundtrack and visuals are phenomenal, combat feels chunky and visceral and I do find that the game plays best with a group of at least 2 friends. That said it's absolutely playable solo, even if I think it's a better co-op experience. There is a wide variety of content to engage with early on, and I personally find the nightmare dungeons can provide a fine tuned challenge to your liking, if you don't want to go too crazy you can keep it sort of easy, which is a nice option. I also like that itemization has gone a little towards Diablo 2, with extra ranks to skills and less traditional stat bonuses, though I do feel like some of these bonuses need to have more value added to them and be explained more clearly.

Now for the negative, as of right now the legendary abilities can feel pretty shallow compared to Diablo 3, although early on it experienced a similar issue. Endgame content is kind of alot of min-maxing your gear, which is a staple of this style of game but if you don't like that, you still probably won't. And there are some quality of life improvements the game could use but are by no means so negative they warrant reviews of 1 or 2. Online connectivity has been mostly good, especially for a recent launch, but if you have limited time, it could be a spot of contention.

All in all, I give Diablo 4 an 8 out of 10, it's a good foundation and depending on how it develops it could easily be a 10/10 experience down the line, but this is blizzard we're talking about.

Sure, ARPGs have reptation and grind but some have found ways to keep this interesting. Diablo IV lets you loose on a world map with dungeons that are beautiful and can be fun for the first couple of runs but sadly they get boring very quickly. After a few runs you start to see the same patterns, enemy types.

I keep thinking of the term 'surface level', I think everything seems great as you're whizzing by on the story but when you stop to have a look, it gets very dull and fast.

The short number of skills you can have assigned seems like a step back and the PC experience feels like its held back.

    Disappointing.

Game is feeling pretty fun. I do feel like XP still feels a bit slower and the itemization has flaws with the enchanting system or that loot after a certain point early on doesn't feel rewarding. There's also some big quality of life changes that need to be implemented to remove some of the tedium of the game like respec-ing or loadouts. I'll keep updating this review as it changes since this is a service game after all.

I'll be 1000 with you, I'm really not the type of person to just jump on to bandwagon negativity or the idea of review bombing.

That being said, there's a level of trust and faith that has been utterly destroyed by the team in charge of this game. For context I have about 250 hours into the game and have reached 100 on my sorcerer and 75 on a rogue. The switch to Sorc and have enjoyed that play style but the longer it was played, the more I noticed my friends who have been leveling up beside me have been outclassing me tenfold. That's fine and fair and I like just doing zappy things anyway but it got to the point where I couldn't clear the content that they could clear and it felt bad. I was grinding my way to 100 to be able to help out with Uber Lilith. No dice, too weak. Spent time grinding for gear in popular builds to beat her and once again... no dice, too weak. We rely too heavily on CC in order to get to a level about a 1/4 of what other classes can put out and with about half the survivability. I still had fun on the way up until about 85ish.

Now... that was a fun story only to set up for the slap in the face that the 1.1 patch gave everyone but somehow in some magical way made the weakest class into the weakest class but somehow so much worse. We lost all of our tool in order to survive in terms of a cool down reduction nerf since we rely on 4 defensive skills for every build because you know... balance. We lost our damage from Devouring Blaze and the Aspect of Control nerf which I would be fine with... if they actually bothered to buff literally anything to take place of it. Like buff the skill damage or the passives or something please. We've been starving for crumbs and those nerfs without nothing else just made us so weak. I'm dealing about 1/6th of my damage when my friends are pretty okayish comparatively. They took a bruise to an arm, sorcs got cut off at the shins.

The community has been having conversations about Sorcs being the weakest before the patch, how the hell did devs not know the state of it prior? Do they not listen? Between that and making monsters stronger and slowing down experience gain makes this patch very slow and very boring if someone was to start again which is literally what Seasons are made for.

What a way to turn a 8-9 out of 10 into a big fat 0. The devs don't respect your time and they don't respect your support for the game. This will literally be the only bad review I write about something. I was really hoping to be in better spirits after sleeping it off a night but I'm somehow more angry the more I think about it. Don't buy the game until the devs figure this out and if they do and fix the problems that have been plaguing the game since the beginning and the new ones they added, be careful and bail if they do it again.

Sorc is so annoying to play as there are no mana pots like D2 and have to wait for spell cooldowns in order to use your favorite spells leaving you to mainly use a crappy spell while you wait.

Diablo 4 makes me feel embarrassed that I spent as much time playing D3 as I did. Diablo 4 in so many ways feels like the proper sequel to Diablo 2 that we've been waiting for.

The story, characters, music, ambiance, production value, cut scenes, easter eggs, thoughtfulness, and passion put into this game is unbelievable. Where Diablo 3 felt like a rough draft of releasing Diablo Immortal, Diablo 4 felt like a realization and refinement of the best of Blizzard from the past...at least what's left of the OG crew. All those aspects are 10/10. All the "ThErE aReNt MeMoRaBlE sOnGs LiKe D2" people...you've been listening to those songs for 20 years. Sure the sound levels may be off, but if you turn down the rest of the sounds to hear the music better, you realize that the sound artists and musicians did some amazing work and i will be listening to these tracks for the next 20 years.

Gameplay: People wanted more depth and choices to matter....got that. People wanted more difficulty = yep. People wanted depth and build diversity...so far so good. I'm absolutely loving the imbuement system. Different legendary aspects make or break a build and it's been awesome. Oh and before you say anything, when I played early access I had one mission when the game launched = Be a Giant Bear....and it's awesome! Realizing the fantasy, feeling impactful, having amazing synergies with skills and loot feels great.

Is the game perfectly balanced? No. Is there more work to be done? Absolutely. But with this being really the only good game Blizzard has going into the future since their whole Overwatch 2 debacle...the developers have a lot of evidence that making good choices for gamers makes investors lots of money. Especially with POE2 on the horizon and POE's amazing track record of content updates and profitability, the Acti-Bliz suits (should) see that want wonder why they can't do it better. I'm not worried about the current state of the game becuase there's a dedicated team behind the game and Blizzard needs this to work.

For the people whining about the microtransactions. I've now played a nearly a hundred hours in the game...havent opened the shop once. I have no idea what's even in the shop. People complaining about the existence of microtransactions in a game like this that are cosmetic only are complaining about Apple selling phone cases for the iphone. At no point have I been playing the game have I thought "wow they really slacked on the visuals with this game, I wanna buy some of the good cosmetics" because the loot, the environment the mount skins are super cool and getting a drop for a skin or salvaging a legendary for a transmog or imprinting a rare and watch the item transform to a totally cool new cosmetic is amazing!

Areas to work on: 1. Quality of Life features have been well documented by the community. People talk about the overlay map...I just need to be able to zoom out of the mini map and that'll be fine. My mouse side buttons should by default zoom in and out of the mini map to the same degree as the full map does and that'll solve the whole overlay problem. 2. Stashes, gem stash etc. people know this kinda stuff. Gems should have their own stash tab. I'd even consider buying one like POE sells if that means it doesn't take up valuable loot space. Also let us have unlimited number of stash tabs! Maybe after 5-6 the rest have to be purchased through the shop. 3. Levelling and power curve - Even as a druid, once I got to Tier 3 and found some good Legendary aspects that synergized i was stomping, but the early levels sucked. Frankly, I think you could keep the level scaling and the systems in place if you just started the paragon system at level 1 instead of level 50. 4. Please add timers and notifications for events that you want the community to care about. There should 100% always be a timer for the next world boss and next Helltide. I literally log in hoping for Helltide. 5. Better community/trading options. I understand the wariness due to literal decades of scams and duping by the Diablo community with fully open trade. However, right now I don't even know how to offer items to trade and being able to easily put items up for auction would be a nice feature.

Don't believe the rating bombers. I made an account just to write this review. I played the betas and I've been playing literally the worst character according to apparently everyone: this game is awesome. It has a lot to offer fanboys, casuals, hardcore folks, and even skeptics. There's clearly a lot of love and passion put into this game and I'm excited for the updates to come.

The always online concept is frustrating, even with strong internet connection the character lags or bounces all over the screen. Lack of swapping for equipment sets was not expected. Character inventory is insufficient and unacceptable. For these reasons the game is average.

Soulless, mindless, joyless... Diablo IV is a devolution of the franchise into an endless grind. Loot has always been central to the series, but in D4 the enemies are constantly leveling with you as you progress. This means the shiny new weapon/armor/trinket you picked up isn't going to turn you into a killing machine, but will allow you to do the same percent of damage to the enemies around you that you've been doing since the beginning. There's no progression of power over your enemies, you're just treading water. You'll unlock new powers, sure, but you'll end up spamming the same basic attack to build up some form of power, which you'll then use to fuel your other basic attack. Repeat as needed. Sprinkle in a couple other abilities on cooldown, and there's your endless loop.

There's nothing strategic about gameplay. There's no different approach or creative planning. There's only avoiding telegraphed attacks when they happen, which becomes almost impossible when the screen is filled with enemies.

Diablo IV quickly loses its luster in the early hours of the game, and never really grows beyond what you learn in the starting zone. There are other "Diablo clones" that do the Diablo formula better, for less money, that won't dissapear once Activision decides it's time to shut down the servers.

If you must buy it now, get the $70 (cheapest) version. The more expensive versions only come with cosmetics that don't add to the gameplay and at least to me, aren't worth the money,

-The stash is a 4th of the size it should be. 1 character will fill up the entire thing, not well thought out for multiple characters.
    - No search in the stash which is AWFUL, you have to save up legendaries and it is so tedious to mouse over every single item to check things.
    - Resists and defenses seem to be bugged, many people reporting this. This is a HUGE problem.
    - because of the resist issues, elixirs feel pretty useless outside of the XP bonus they give
    - NM dungeons bug out and kick you out sometimes while in a party
    - Too much screen clutter during battle, sometimes you cant see enemy attacks at all. Its a bit much.
-Running to every NM dungeon feels tedious, especially with how the mounts are.
-Some dungeons are unable to be completed due to bugs of objectives.
    - Very little build diversity (so far) I went to lvl 100, and I felt pigeonholed into going into 1 or 2 builds at most. All other builds weren't just slightly worse, they were almost unplayable.
    - The UI is horrendous, it's very mobile-like, with no customization. No name or health bar above your head. No map overlay options.
    - the PC UI is clunky, the game was clearly catered towards console, PC is paying the price for it.
    - The HP bubble is very confusing with Fortiy, Shield, and Poisons. HP bar over your head would help this.
    - Almost no endgame content. It's a never-ending loop of helltides and NM dungeons. They are D3 systems renamed. There's a boss at the end, but that's it? Needs more endgame goals.
    - No leaderboards at launch, kind of odd.
    - Itemization is not as hype as they make it. It is very basic but slightly better than D3...I guess?
    - Some loot rewards just don't feel worthy enough in some parts of the game.
    - World bosses are very basic, Not a challenge in any way, shape, or form.
    - Can't block people spamming emotes, gets pretty annoying
    - objects in the open world cause you to get stuck all the time
    - The notifications for world events are basically non-existent, so you end up missing some or needing to use a website to keep track of things.
    - Quest log does not track your old quests. So at a certain point, you cannot retrace and find the ones you are missing. Many people are stuck not knowing where to go to complete these currently outside of using a website and retracing all of their steps in every zone.

Gore and Evil for ages 16+ ; puzzles/combat mechanic designed for 8-14..
Really sad about a game that started strong and...faded after 2 weeks playing part time...
Now: will I have to pay more for Seasons and some other bulls* pretexts? Def' not a AAA title; the game needed a good 3 more months of testing and dev to be up to some standard. Cinematics/Story : 9/10. Nothing you

Now: will I have to pay more for Seasons and some other bulls* pretexts?
Def' not a AAA title; the game needed a good 3 more months of testing and dev to be up to some standard.

Cinematics/Story : 9/10. Nothing you can't view off Youtube. And after ALL THAT hesitation to know WHO'S THE BAD GUY(S) and who to choose: you have no choice to make!!!! At least give us some god damn choice for 1-2 different fight/dialogue or cinematic... That's basic stuff Blizzard! RPG says it in the name!!
Voice acting: 10/10. Same as above for Youtube experience.
Fight mechanics: 5/10 Clunky, world bosses are boring AF. Helltides suck. Endless braindead farming.
Difficulty ramped? You get 1 shot by boring chaos/mechanics you can't see.
    Farming/Story/Grind after level 50: 2/10 Boring AF.
Multiplayer: 5/10 Crossplay? Cool! Decent-enough system to play with low levels...but no freaking LFG system or COOP goals. Even my guildies do all their stuff Solo. We're far from WoW 2002.
Bought a 15$ Mount to support a Streamer: The resolution on my 27" makes me see no difference than the brown one lol.... Ok...

Gearing up with ASPECTS is a PAIN . They nerfed the builds like 5 times in 10 days??? Now, my inventory is full of Legendary Aspects I can't freakin use as I know they'll be the next best build in 10 days... And I have no mats for new Aspects on new Gear my level, as Aspects are 5x more important, but you can't get mats! Endless, braindead farming needed...

The druid sucked levels 15-30. I was happy to see a super pickup at levels 30-35-50...Now i'm thinking of going back to Vermintide2 with the friends.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
