A poignant, tender tale about death. Dashes of comedy, a whimsical fantasy world, and memorable boss fights make this an indie game of the year contender. [Issue#9, p.91]

Death's Door is everything you hope to get out of an indie game. An addictive challenge, an intriguing little tale and enough content to keep you going back. Unhindered by budgetary restrictions, Death's Door delivers on all fronts. The gameplay feedback from combat is implemented so well that you forget just how simple it is. Better still, it's made all the more excellent by the DualSense controller. Fans of Action RPG's will not want to miss this indie treasure on PS5.

Tight controls, clever level design, and rewarding combat make Death's Door a joy to play. It's a ten-hour adventure that never outstays its welcome, and its overall quality is clear. A polished, quirky, and often challenging title that charms from start to finish.

Fantastic game. This is a "real game" as we are used to as kids. With a hub world, different levels (all connected in fact) with different themes, bosses, hard bosses, secrets, many many secrets, great fun.
And when you have beat the last boss, there is end-game content. Some new collectables you couldn't collect before beating the last boss. With a "true" or "alternative" ending for those who 100% the game.
Truly a hidden gem, you will not regret if you pick it up

It isn't long, but while it lasts it brings solid combat, fun puzzles, and a morose atmosphere that comes with heavy themes of death and letting go. It isn't a serious game, but that weighty central theme is what sets it apart from its peers. Combined with solid combat and quirky characters, the game is just flat out great and worth playing. I like the art style and environmental designs. Combat is decent; its somewhat simplistic, but still fun at times. The music is relaxing, though I was hoping it would also offer some more upbeat and catchy tracks. Character upgrades aren't bad, but more diverse and fun upgrades would have been nice. There's quite a bit of backtracking if you're trying to complete most, if not all, things in the game, which often feels like more of a chore than fun. Expand

The dodge mechanic isnt working great though, and combat although easy to learn, seems like it could be better in terms of attack variety. There are the same attacks over and over. Great game though, highly recommend it. Expand

The isometric topAnother soulslike wannabe that tries to be hard by being just unfair, with childish PS1 graphics and repetitive soundtrack. The isometric top down view deeply damages the gameplay too, making it non natural and difficult to calculate moves. The dodging mechanics are also a nonsense. It's difficult to save something good about the game, even having in account that it's an indie, but to say something good, the story and characters are the best of the game, not being awesome, but just fine. The gameplay is unconsistent and dull, but luckily the duration is not too long either. Expand
