Assassin's Creed games is basically closest we will ever get to actual time travel. Visiting these old cities and locations is just amazing. Of course it's still fiction, but so is Red Dead Redemption and that's fine. Still close enough.

Makes me wonder why they even did Odyssey like they did. It clearly didn't work. I'm not saying it was bad game, it had some good stuff too, but overall Valhalla stands out as superior in basically ever way. AC is finally back!

AC: Valhalla doesn't exactly re-invent the formula, but i think for now it's a good thing.
They fixed what went wrong with Odyssey and brought back missing elements while making story, characters and world better. With next one they need to do some complete overhaul, but Valhalla is good beginning for next era Assassin's Creed games.

People shouldn't even start some nonsense like "it's not well made", when they literally have no idea what they are talking about. I'm so glad it got nominated for "Best Action / Adventure Game" at "The Game Awards". That alone shows that people who are part of gaming at least understand and acknowledge that it is well made video game!
It doesn't have to win and very likely wont, that's not the point. What matters is fact that it got nominated.

Valhalla is first good step into the future of Ubisoft, it's really well done game, but now things need to go even further. Really DEEPLY focus on writing, Valhalla is good, go even more deep! Invest more into your products, you have good directors, give them all the freedom the need! I know you can make good stuff, you have done it past, you can do it again, i really believe it.
I believe in you Ubisoft, because i have really liked some of your games (AC 4 Black Flag, AC Unity (after patches obviously), Far Cry 3 and even some Ghost Recon Games, even Watch Dogs 1 was good, even tho it wasn't perfect. I would hate to see you go down like this. What you did in 2019 is unforgivable, but every company messes up at times, In fact all your games have better writing than Fallout 4 or Fallout 76, not that it's good comparison, but just saying. But you need to take Rockstar as your inspiration and i feel, in a way you already do. That's good! Just focus on quality, fix more bugs before release and just do good games. That's all it takes. I'm so far loving Valhalla and i have high hopes for Far Cry 6 and future of Ubisoft, Please don't let me and all your fans down!

An absolute broken mess. I would love this game if not for the staggering amount of game breaking bugs. At first it seems ok, just a little bug here and there but as you progress it gets worse and worse to the point where you simply cannot complete certain tasks. This is not a "fake review" like all the 10/10s say. This game is so buggy its unplayable.

Overall good game for first 25 hours. Ends up too repetitive and you start to see the flaws within the game. Combat is very flashy but feels clunky af to use. It was designed in a way that makes it look good, sacrificing feeling good. You’ll know what I mean after you’ve played it for 10 or so hours.

One big positive is the game world looks absolutely beautiful.

The story is interesting, but poorly executed. And I do really enjoy the new gear upgrading system, as well as the new talent tree (which is really the only thing that motivated me to keep playing). Those are really the only good things I can say about the game. I understand the development team was forced to work around the pandemic, but I'd have gladly waited however long it takes to fully polish this game.

My enjoyment of this title was consistently hamstrung by moments of stunning sloppiness. Didn't RDR2 already show us how to do snowy environments? Honestly—and very disappointingly—playing Assassin's Creed: Odyssey on my PS4 looks miles better than Valhalla on my PS5. I sincerely hope Ubisoft can patch in some graphical improvements ASAP, but it's so much more than that. The animations are unnatural, the combat is often unresponsive, and the company's refusal to fully commit to a female protagonist is perennially disappointing.

It still scratches the AC itch, but I know from playing past games that it could have been so much better. Maybe I *will* just go back to Odyssey...

Things like climbing through an open window, talking to an essential NPC, or trying to loot a crate during a raid are impossible because of glitches I keep encountering.

They just wanna whine about every game Ubisoft makes, because they think it makes them look cool, but in reality it makes them look stupid, because Assassin's Creed has millions of fans all over the world and they clearly understand the appeal of these games. If haters would get their way and all these other companies would go away then gaming would be dead because we would get 1 game in 5 years. Because that's all they want. They want only CDprojectred to exist and they hate absolutely everything else and i think i know why. Because they can pirate their games and of course losers will automatically support them. Expand

Solid Assassin's Creed game, other than meh performance at times and some bugs, i have nothing really bad to say. They should bring it to steam, then it would be way easier to review this game.

From graphical standpoint this game is absolute masterclass, they really hit the nail with both Norway and England. This game's soundtrack is one of the most beautiful and relaxing soundtracks i have heard in long time in any video game. Combat is good, cities look interesting enough. There's many places to climb and parkour on. Overall very good.

There's only four games from 2020 that i can say truly deserve to be nominated at "The Game Awards", these are : Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Doom Eternal, Half Life Alyx and Assassin's creed Valhalla. Tony Hawk 1+2 Remake was really nice, but come on, all in all it's not that revolutionary.

Runs perfectly fine on my system, could use some patches, but still. Whoever gives this game score under 7, i don't even take them seriously as gamers. These are just sad angry people who don't know how to enjoy good things. They like to whine about everything and anything. This game is strong candidate for "The Game Awards" nomination. Best game of November 2020.

Voice acting, story, open world, graphics, different cities and hidden locations. If you hate this game, maybe just give up gaming or something, find new hobby, because you clearly aren't able to enjoy greatness. If it's not your style or whatever, that's fine, Assassin's Creed was never "game for everyone", but just hating it shows how pathetic you are.

This game is incredible! Even just small details how insanely beautiful water looks when sun sets in England or Ice caves in Norway. There's so much to do and explore. Nearly every location or dot on the map is meaningful, giving important ingots to upgrade your gear, new sets of armor (which is quite rare - you'll need to commit to one set of armor early on), supplies for your settlement (nearly every building has an purpose that adds either side quests or neat little minigames to the game), short "mystery" side quests that are surprisingly engaging and interesting or ancient Roman artifacts or parkour mini games that reward you with tattoo and longboat schematics. Combat is engaging, taking elements from Origins with use of a shield and standard hack-and-slash and the light & hunter bows (along with predator bow - your sniper rifle, basically), and utilizes the use of weak spots you can hit with your arrow to stagger your enemy so you can run in for a stun. The skill tree implements some useful, more standard non-flashy abilities to use in combat (stomping on an enemy, chain assassinations, picking up weapons on the battlefield and throwing them at will) alongside abilities hidden throughout the map that use adrenaline. Admittedly, I've found a lot of these abilities to not be overly useful or just a bit too strange to work into combat meaningfully. So far, the most useful has been poisoning my weapons or the standard jump and hit from above move.

The main quest (essentially, conquering England) is interesting, and Eivor provides for a calm and assertive character to play with. Personally, I preferred Kassandra, but Eivor proves to be likable regardless. The world map is beautiful - especially the starting zone in Norway. I encourage exploring a little bit before leaving for England because you won't get such gorgeous snow-capped mountain views for what I assume is a while.

For downsides, I'll list this: the leveling zones aren't really the best system for this game. It's easy to accidentally cross a river into a way high level zone where you will get instantly KO'd, far easier than in Odyssey or Origins, where I barely noticed the fact zones were leveled. Additionally, some enemies even in zones you're the appropriate level for will, for some absurd reason, be nearly 100 levels or more above you. This is mostly for the oddball mystery side quest, but I still find this annoying, especially when I want to clear out all of the objectives in one go. Some puzzles can be quite difficult - some, even when I googled the answer I still couldn't figure out and had to bail (and I'm not sure if those were bugs or just me being dumb). On the note of bugs, there are certainly some, but none can't be fixed without a quick game reboot. There was one quest in Oxen-something-shire that wouldn't seem to end (a side lower-the-strength-of-the-nation kind of quest), but I figure I'll just ignore that.

At a point of the game, you get reach Asgard. Here, you don't quite play as Eivor - instead someone wearing their face and acting as a god there alongside Thor, Tyr, and other recognizable names. Here, the wealth objectives seem quite pointless - another mark against the game - apparently only granting 5 skill points after collecting 30 of these "Ymir" shards, each requiring a puzzle to find and solve. I'd recommend just doing the mysteries in this zone, as they are still fairly engaging.

Overall, Valhalla succeeds in doing what Origins and Odyssey failed: cutting out the repetitive fluff quests and working in countless minigames, notes to read scattered in locations across the map, little pieces of wealth and side quests to discover that are all unique in their own way. In this way, the AC franchise truly begins to bloom as an open world game. The game even continues Odyssey's idea of legendary beast hunting, which was definitely a fun part for me in Odyssey; and overall, the combat is improved, requiring you to think on your feet. I played on Hard mode, which I can say is difficult enough for me; I beat Odyssey in Nightmare difficulty, and this provides a much more engaging, less spam 500 arrows playstyle.

Should you buy it for the full price tag? If you love open world games and the AC franchise, I say yes. If you don't and just want a casual play, I would wait until it at least comes down to half-price. And, it's common sense, but wait for the DLC to be released in full before paying $100 for the ultimate edition (I can confirm that the wolf mount is awesome, though).

Great game and by far the best in this trilogy. They have a long main story and smaller "side quests" called world events. There are two competing experiences here: that as as Assassin, and that as a Viking, that either on its own feels like it might have been a triumph and better than this good but not great Assass-king hybrid we have.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
