    Ok, the game.
First off, comparing this to the first one, isn’t fair, the first one was a master piece. The story and gameplay elements make it a must play. But this, graphically, and game play wise is breath taking. But story wise, it’s strange. I’m not gonna say anything because of spoilers. But I reckon give it a shot

The wonderful storytelling centred around Joel and Ellie, the fun gameplay and the great pacing. The temptation and risk was always to make a sequel that’s bigger at the cost of not being better and sadly that’s what Naughty Dog have fallen into the trap of doing. The story is fine (outside the controversy that I’ll talk about later) - way better than anything out there and I understand why they took the direction they did, but it simply doesn’t have the magic and the originality of the first game. The gameplay is a better version of the first one, but this is both a blessing and a curse. Moment to moment it’s fun, but given the fact that Naughty Dog only seem to be able to make one type of game, i.e. linear, melee, guns and simple environmental puzzle solving, you’ve already played it in the first game, Unchartered 4 and Lost Legacy. Problems still exist - close combat fighting is a pain, human boss battles haven’t progressed beyond L1 to dodge and then square to hit and you just keep doing this. Pacing however is where my biggest gripe is. In the quest to make it bigger, Naughty Dog have added so much padding to the game. At times I was happy to have a little break from the action but at times I simple didn’t want to go through yet another non combat flash back. And (always a bad sign) often wanted this game to come to an end. There’s been a huge amount of fan based negative press against this game, which in the end affected my enjoyment of the game. This annoyed me, but at the same time it was a real wake up call to how the industry works. Simply put everything you hear from trusted sites such as IGN - take with a pinch of salt. Ultimately these sites are reliant on the big gaming companies giving them early access and exclusives and you can image that if they are not nice about a game, well they won’t get the next ... Ever wondered why everyone working for one of these sites have the same opinion? I can only assume that they are told what their employers have aligned on ... Sony and Naughty Dog’s biggest crime however was to lie about what this game is about. It went too far and they mis-sold a game. You just cannot do that. All that aside, the reality is that it is a great game, but it’s just not up there with the true greats. It seemed that the game got stuck in a time freeze (2013 in fact) and the developers got so excited about fancy graphics and their crazy and original idea of a story (which it isn’t) that they didn’t notice the world had moved on. They didn’t notice or try and keep up with masterpieces like BOTW, Red Dead 2, GTA 5, Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3 and instead delivered a game that would have been really cool had it been 2014. Being a huge fan of the first game I always hoped that it would be left to be something truly special. Sadly I always knew that there was too much money at stake and that we’d see a sequel that would be bigger, but sadly not better. And sadly, that’s exactly what Sony and Naughty Dog have delivered. Logically it makes sense to have a sequel and it’s a great game, but Last of Us has never been about logic, it’s about emotions and there’s too much love for the first game for anything to go wrong for a sequel and sadly some things have gone wrong in this sequel. The divine game maker has once again put together a masterpiece.

This game has set a new milestone towards the next generation!

A breathtaking, emotional, cruel but also loving story awaits you.

The game mechanics are just refreshing and innovative.

The graphics have brought out the absolute maximum of the PS4 Pro, the display and depth of detail is simply incredible. Depending on the scenario, not far from photo realism.

I really hope that there will be a high-end version for the PS5 again.

Thanks to Naughty Dog that a finished version has finally come onto the market, some publishers should cut off a slice of it.

To all haters..reading through the story before buying a game and / or rating it with an asterisk because of an anti-homophobic attitude does not testify to the intelligence needed to understand this game enough. Maybe you'd rather stay with Tetris?

It is style until the last jedi, the story, the narrative, the plot, the script the characters do not make sense, the development of the characters is little or nothing,
When the situation gets spicy, we have flashbacks that break the rhythm of the game.
The game becomes boring, very repetitive more or less from the middle to the end especially the parts you play as abby, and a mechanic that I hate in video games; quick time events.
And the only credible review from the video game press is IGN Japan when it says there are boring new characters.

Naughty Dog tries to "subvert expectations" by creating a clash of forced ideology and politics.
The last 12 hours are terribly boring, you just want to get to the end fast and kill the final boss, and refund the game in the store.
The game fails from the start, Joel would never have trusted a stranger.

Both Joel and his brother knew the Fireflies will be looking for him, or at least they should expect that after purging the whole building of Fireflies. But instead they get surrounded by armed strangers and they just gave out their real names like dummies. Like hi, my brother here, his name is JOEL.

This game deserves a 3/10 maximum.

The video game press and ND emphasize that the game is about revenge, but in the end that long-awaited revenge does not come, after killing everyone, you do not kill the "Villain", because in the last second you realized that "circle of revenge is bad" WTF?!!, an unsatisfactory anticlimactic ending,
the ending is a **** cliche!!!!!

The trailer of 09/24/19 is false, it makes us believe that the one who covers our mouth is Joel but no, surprise is jesse !! This should be able to be reported for misleading advertising.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Naughty Dog has made an effort so that the game is not fun it has succeeded.

On a technical level it was more or less what was expected BUT the history is pure garbage. 0/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was hesitant on buying this because of what I heard from leaks, though I did my best to avoid them. So at the last minute I decided I’d get it and make my own decision. And wow, I honestly wish I could get my money back. Not only is the story awful, but I could care less about the characters. I literally had no feelings towards any of them besides our already established ones. This felt like an interactive movie. You can watch all the cutscenes online and you’ll basically miss nothing. It felt like the actual ‘gameplay’ was walking from point A to B and some combat sprinkled in. I grew so tired of the stealth, the AI is easily manipulated, I was sick of seeing the same neck stab/break animation depending on who you’re playing, I started to go into the combat guns blazing. When I did that I was able to clear out the area so quickly. On top of that, you'll get an audio prompt that everyone is dead in the area like “I think that’s all of them.” Meaning, nothing is going to surprise you now and you’re free to collect your resources and now you’re off for the next 30-60 minutes of walking or cutscenes. Difficulty should not have to be inflated to make the actual gameplay/combat just feel longer. And it’s not like the combat is much different than it was 7 years ago, it’s actually easier especially since Ellie has her endless knife and Clickers are totally pathetic now. This game in essence is a QTE Movie/Walking Sim. Just watch the cutscenes online and you’ll pretty much miss out on nothing. There’s nothing here in this game that hasn’t been seen before or done better. Expand

E impressionante o que a dedicação dos desenvolvedores foi capaz de fazer.

This game doesnt know what it wants to be and in doing so is very much an average game at best nothing innovative about it nothing thought provoking. A lot of the characters are very much unlikeable and some are so cookie cutter you could argue they are interchangeable and could be taken out and it wouldnt change a thing. The story comes off as a snobby college student writing a dark story for the first time and showing it off in your face saying i know how to write take me serious. I shouldn’t have to go when playing a game ”wait a minute what? Oh man thats a plot hole” or ”I would’ve written that better” but i did and I’m sure plenty of others are as well. The combat is serviceable it doesnt do anything that another AAA publisher couldn’t easily do better but it gets the job done. The atmosphere is dark and thats to be expected the choice of music is a mixed bag though but its nothing to cry over. The Story is Divisive and I would argue significantly unpolished if its not dragging it feels rushed. Naughty Dog’s game is going to have to compete vs CyberPunk2077 ,Ghosts of Tsushima, and maybe even Baldurs Gate 3. Dont be surprised if 1...2 or even all 3 of these games outsell their newest game or come close to their sales with a better consumer rating. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the first game. The story, the gameplay, all of that, It was a masterpiece. This is just BAD. Why do something like that? The way the Joel character is treated, the way you supposed to empathize with his killer. It's not working. The "you killed my father excuse", come on. In 7 years they couldn't came up with something better that a NPC killed? And the ending is easily the worst part. You kill hundreds of people to get to Joel's killer and then you do nothing because "revenge is bad". Unbelievable. Way to go NaughtyDog you went from absolute masterpieces like the Uncharted series and TLOU to this awful game. I guess i could not expect nothing else from Neil Druckmann, after his statements. Doesn't matter if they ruin the charactes of the first game, and with them the expctations of the players. It doesn't matter because now they have new stunnig and brave (so brave they kill an unarmed man with a golf stick, then spit on him) characters and political corectness is safe. And all the critics' positive reviews just prove what the world of media is become. You put these themes in your story and they will (and have to) love it. The bond between Joel and Ellie, the evil and good spectrum so thin, the story so simple yet so powerfull, the calm of some moments, the frenzy of others, Joel so strong and so broken, Ellie so young and scared and courageous. Nothing of that, nothing, is present in this sequel. This is just putting the almost same (very good indeed) gameplay, new unlikeble characters that you will hate and some gore and ultraviolent scene to shock you. No NaughtyDog, I'm not shock by these scenes, I am shock for the poor writing of these. Thanks to SJW. This is just so SAD. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphically the game just isn't much more impressive than Last of Us Remastered, focusing on mood lighting to make up for the seven year old PS4 hardware to cover up its very clear cracks, while still utterly paling in comparison to Red Dead Redemption 2. Gameplay likewise is barely different from the first game, with minimal additions to how it's played (a very crappy dedicated jump button is a perfect symbol of this). Stages feel a bit more linear believe it or not, and no moment even approaches scary or even particularly tense.
Both of these disappointments, however, could've been made up for if it weren't for Naughty Dog's worst story yet. Where Last of Us 1 was a nuanced character driven plot about a father rekindling his humanity, and a child growing into a hardened survivor, Last of Us 2 took a much more generic "revenge is bad" route. Joel is unceremoniously murdered after falling for a trick that he himself would've come up with during his early days as a raider, with Niel Druckmann's self insert immediately spitting on his still warm corpse as Ellie watches. Anything related to the core plot (Ellie as the cure and how or if she can survive this) are immediately pushed beyond the backburner in lieu of petty politics and soulless relationship drama. New bland characters that nobody would ever care about flood into the mix, filling the story with drivel as you shoot increasingly repetitive zombies and cultists. The game chooses to mix things up with clumsy flashbacks (including flashbacks within flashbacks; absolutely shameless), putting the player in control of Abby, the now infamous she-hulk who murdered Joel in her own act of petty revenge. The rest of the game focuses on Ellie losing everyone and everything she has left just to kill Abby, with even Joel's iconic lie at the end of TLOU1 getting brushed off and forgotten quickly. And when Ellie does finally catch up to Abby, after killing swaths of people, relationships, and infected, and losing her precious guitar-playing fingers in the process, she decides that Abby's life isn't worth the price she already overpaid for, leaves her alive, and goes home to find out that karen took the kids. I'm not kidding, after learning this valuable lesson, her girlfriend leaves with their kid, never to be seen again. The story ends with Ellie ditching the last thing she has, Joel's guitar, because literally watching not Niel Druckmann spitting on his caved in head wasn't enough.
If the gameplay were better, or the graphics were prettier, or if story wasn't such a huge focus in every Naughty Dog game since Jak 3, I probably wouldn't care. But you don't play ND games for the gameplay. You play them to watch how events unfold. Niel Druckmann didn't drop the ball here. He stabbed the ball with a penknife, ruining the game for everyone, and then attempted to bribe commentators into saying he made an excellent play.
But at least the music was good. One full point there.
Do not buy this trash. It's worth nobody's time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yes the game is beautiful, that I have to admit. The gameplay was fluid and the environments have great atmosphere. But the reason I play these games is for the story... and what a horror show this was. I seriously considered stopping playing 2-3 times because of the decisions that were made. I will not go into detail about the anti-male feel I had during the whole game, but it really made me uncomfortable at times. On a gameplay level it slightly improved on the previous game, but it also borrowed so much from it, playing it very safe. All in all I can't understand where the 10/10 comes from .. I really don't. And the trailers did indeed lie about the story played out .. big time.
Edit: Just finished the game and I need to change my score from 2 to 1. This is the first time I hated the game I was playing. never happened to me. Forcing fans of the first game to play as the killer of your favorite character of all time is not ok .. ever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The long swaited sequel to one of the best games of 2013. Druckman takes a golf club to the characters who you grew to love. They are completely wasted and spat on in Druckmans 1 man reign of terror on the male patriarchy, I mean sequel. I wont deny this game the credit it deserves for how visually oustanding it looks, especially in 4k, the world around you looks absolutley stunning. But unfortunately thats the only stunning feature that can be found in this game. A typical revenge plot line that is lost in itself with the 20000 characters that it introduces and tries desperatley to make relevant to an already established storyline. Closure was the one thing I was seeking out of this sequel. The first game ends with a cliff hanger that leaves it much to the players own interpretation. Joel lies to Ellie and we are shown that Ellie knows that there is something that Joel is not telling us. Cut forward 4 years we have Ellie who is much older and a lesbian. The only closure we receive is through vietnam guitar flashbacks of Joel and Ellie. The only thing I got from this game that has given me some sense of fullfilment is the 5 minute scene mid game where Ellie confronts Joel in a flashback where she forces Joel to tell her the truth about the fireflies and what really happened while she was unconcious in the surgery room. The remainder of present day interactions showcase a rocky and abrupt relationship between Joel and Ellie that is only explained during flashback sequences as you reluctantly force yourself to progress with the main story. The only slight glimmer of Joel and Ellie that we see is one other 5 minute sequence where Joel and talk after their fallout, where Joel tell hers that if he could go back, he would do it all again and ellie half forgiving him for what he did. Im not going to even touch on the ridiculous exposition and complete deviation with Dina and Ellies coming of age teen pregnancy lesbian relationship that was nothing but mundane and boring. 2 hours into the game Joel gets fkn Murked by Abby, a girl man who seeks revenge on Joel becuase Joel kills her dad... who was some random NPC in the first game and suddenly a sequels entire plot is spun around this fact ? This game is riddled with social justice micro agressions, but that isnt why this game is bad in my opinion. This game has very poor, contrived writing that is desperatley trying to prove a point to it's audience. Its forced and extremely unconvincing. This a very big step down from it's predecessor. What makes this all come full circle is that the message behind this revenge story is that "revenge is bad m'kay". A 25 hour stretched out story that could have been honestly 11-13 hours long witout losing its depth. The game makes an extreme U-Turn when we switch focus from Ellie to Abby. Abby is the Main Character of the sequel, the game has just forced this completely new and irrelevant character on us and is trying very desperatley to force its player to sympathise with her/him by subjecting you to almost 15 hours of cringe dialogue and character exposition through ill timed interactive set pieces. The big point behind this entire plot was "breaking the cycle of violence" now the problem that I have with this is, in your quest for vengance, Ellie single handidly murders a ton of people including pregnant women. You basically leave a mass grave of bodies in your wake but when you finally confront the antagonist, the entire 25 hours you have sunk into this garbage heap goes to absolute waste as the final showdown ends in a half assed fist fight and a moraly confilicting self existential crisis. You let Abby live and suddenly Ellie DeGeneres realises after months of taking names and torturing people that suddenly she can possess the moral highground by deciding after murking 999 people, that the 1000th person is when she wants to "break the cycle of violence". The one person this revenge story leads to, is the one and only person that is spared due to moral conflict.... Gameplay can never be the redeeming factor when the story is this bad. This game fkd up when it started implementing things that the community didnt want inorder to satisy those who don't play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. State-of-the-art level design, sound, voice acting, graphics, art design, animation, combat, and world-building. Mixed feelings on the use of flashbacks and the dual narrative structure in the story. The beginning and end sections are gripping, but the time in between is disorganized and loses momentum as a result.

    Gameplay
—My favorite aspect of the gameplay was exploring the detailed, open environments, especially the beginning section in Seattle.
—If you can get past the brutality, the combat is pretty fun and strategic, but often the violence is so unpalatable I just wanted to stop playing.
—The AI is much improved from the first game and it really does feel like you have to outsmart your enemies, which is impressive.
—Survival horror fans won't be disappointed as the second act delivers some Lovecraftian nightmare fuel.

    Story *spoilers*
—Sometimes I thought, "I'm not sure what's happening or what I'm doing and I don't really care when there are more interesting things going on that you're not showing me"
—Sometimes, the story would introduce horrible ideas, retcon them, and then expect us to return to the story with full investment. When Tommy is shot in the head by Abby, I was instantly just like, "OK, I'm done. Do whatever. This game is over." And then it turns out he's alive later, and so my trust in the narrative came back, but only partly.
—I did care about where the story was going, but I cared the most at the beginning and the end, like I said. Abby is well developed and she's an interesting character like Ellie, so I didn't mind spending time with her. It takes some time to reach this point, though, and at first, her story is almost unplayable given what we know about her. But then the game humanizes her, and so the trust in the story comes back.
—You can never FULLY retcon or reverse disgust at what's happening in the story, even if that disgust turned out to be misguided.
—In all, there are parts of the story I liked and parts I didn't like. It's mixed. I need more time to think.

far from revolutionary, this game excels only in the amount of emotional baggage it unloads on you. The story is full of bitterness, i started feeling physically ill about half-way through. I was expecting some of this due to the leaks but I was also expecting a truly ground breaking game play experience to make it all worth the pain. On my first assumption it delivered in spades, I hated every single character including ellie. Joel was the only person I identified with and I won't spoil what they do to him. My second assumption however fell flat at my feet. It maintains all of the immersion killing flaws of the first game,(Poor Enemy AI, stealh detection) as well as the gameplay that made the first game feel like a grind. (prepare to spend half of Last of us 2 crawling around, throwing bricks at walls ). The animations are quite good but after after a while you begin to see through the illusion of a seemingly dynamic action system and into the reality of a very nice canned animations system that triggers the same regardless of different approaches and conditions that should mutate them. i.e. jumping on a horse without anyone else already on it will trigger the same animation as when your partner is waiting in the saddle. Due to the momentum and carelessness of the animation your character would almost certainly knock the other character off the horse IRL. Once again this is of course pretty standard for a modern game but my point is that LOU2 is not the revolutionary game that LOU1 was. All in all, I could have done without LOU2. It only served to tarnished the sentimental appreciation I had for of the first game which is now tarnished by the nauseous bad taste from the second game.

Yet I continued on hoping maybe I just needed more time with it like the FF7 remake or other slower paced games like RDR2. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The only enjoyable parts were the flash backs because they used already established characters with more personality, unlike the new characters that are as likable as a napkin. And with an entire game centered around a story driven narrative, the characters are the centerpiece and make or break an "adventure" game like this that is very heavy with cutscenes.

Sure the graphics, sound, and voice acting are top notch, but what does that matter when the story is completely amateurish with plot twists that seem like they were plucked from some reddit fan fiction. Mirror opposite from the first game in terms of depth and chemistry. I really tried to appreciate the new characters, but without giving spoilers, their motives and general traits are very unlikable and flat. The entire time I felt like I was playing some generic Netflix zombie series and that's a shame. I'm aware the writing teams were changed from the previous game, but come on. Don't use the same title if this is the level of writing to be expected. Compared to the Uncharted series and the first TLOU, it's no where near as compelling.

Overall, this games deserves a zero because it's done something I've seen very few games do; tarnish the franchise so badly that I'm reluctant to even play the previous entry again that was easily game of the year and pretend this one just doesn't exist at all. There are so many different ways the story could have been written to be more engaging and better paced, but I suppose this is what happens when a company cash grabs and knows mainstream reviewers will shower it in praise. To rub salt in the wound, there are obvious politically correct tropes crammed into this game to cast the widest net possible and upset the least amount of people. The whole experience feels so artificial as if it was created in a lab with a panel of every affinity group and this is the result. Stale, generic, and just not interesting in any way.

The media and others, sold a lie, which you only notice when playing, this is an example of how to ruin a franchise, I have no words to describe how horrible the story is, the bad points stand out over the good points. I just want to pretend that part 2 never came out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just horrible, sure the gameplay and graphics is tollerable for a 2020 triple A game. But the story just walks the entire franchise off a cliff. Joel's death especially. Myself and literally the entire fan base was fine with Joel dying. However, the way they killed him off was the most disturbing and dumbest way to kill of a MAIN character. Had zero affect on the story and Naughty Dog literally treated him like a naughty dog (pun intended). You can tell the writers tried extraordinarily to like Abby and sympathise with her. Although, that is quite difficult to do considering she literally killed a fan favourite at the beginning of the game. Naughty Dog had the right intentions in painting the antagonists with a good light but it just utterly failed during the execution. This game obviously had a ton of high hopes considering the first game. But, it's sub-par controls and gameplay for a triple A game. It's terrible story where you have no choice but to play as abby THE ONE WHO KILLED JOEL, not only that you have to try and feel sorry for this abby during the rest of the game. I went into this game knowing the spoiler, i was prepared. But even that couldn't stop the onslaught of thoughts going through my head while major things happened. I kept on thinking to myself, "How the **** does that make sense" or "They really messed up the story". I was feeling more pity for those who loved the original and our now playing the sequel compared to actually liking the game. In one last sentence, this game is a hard pass for me. Expand

game-play is basically the same not much improvement but its not a problem i loved the original game play anyway.
story 1/10 i don't know what were they smoking to even think this was art such a shame, because of this i did not enjoy the game at all the only thing i enjoyed is the flashbacks and that's it.

    Now for my pointless review.

    Looks great. Great VA.
    Mostly a walking sim
Terrible story that hurts the first games legacy.

Characters make descions they wouldn't leading to Joel getting golf clubbed to death by Abby.

We're supposed to care about Abby and understand why she killed joel while we play as her. No one wanted this. We were all fine with killing the doctor in TLOU and couldn't care about abby. We want to kill the character that kills joel not play as her and beat up ellie as her.

The story goes from abby wanting revenge to ellie to abby and then ellie.

They both kill each others friends in the name of revenge. Ellie can't get over Joel's death and leaves Diana to hunt abby knowing she'll lose diana if she makes this choice. She does and doesn't even kill her. All of a sudden she thinks back to joel and apparently he wouldn't want her to kill abby even though we all know he would.

So abby lives and ellie basically loses everything as diana and her baby leave.

Tommy also gets shot in the face lives but loses his brother and his wife leaves him.

    What a game

The Last of US Part 2 is a massive disappointment and insult to its original!

I will like to point out real quick that the graphics do look really good and the game play is decent even though it does nothing very inventive from the original. But the major thing that make Last of Us Part 1 so good was its great story telling. This is where Last of Us Part 2 becomes a total train wreck

This is where Last of Us Part 2 becomes a total train wreck as it forcefully introduces a new female led character which the entire story will revolve around. This new character completely relies on destroying the establish characters in order to give her any meaning in the story.

As you get further into the story it will just get worst with uninteresting characters and infuriating events.

If you are a fan of the original story and plan to play it (or watch it) be prepare to have it be stained with frustration and disappoint when your beloved characters are use to introduce a new main character that you totally wanted for a sequel about Joel and Ellie...

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
