    Interesting and convinving story, well balanced and integrated into the gameplay. As an additional positive element I was very surprised to find out that the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis exist in real life and it acts in the same way, infecting antis (There is a BBC documentary which explains the phenomenon). Gameplay: 10/10
    Dynamic, interesting and balanced gameplay able to create emotions and transpose the player into an action thriller movie protagonist. Graphics & sound: 10/10
    The Last of us part 2 is a beautiful game, delivering a gorgeous environment which manages to convince and contribue to the game's atmosphere. When it snows or it rains the entire environement shows, sounds and  feels like it. Additionally all the sounds greatly contribue to the atmosphere and the created tension. The background music, the cinematic music, even the music at the menu integrates well with the theme of the game. Game functiinality & bugs: 9/10:
    Only one bug encountered during swimming in a reservoir which threw me out of the textured walls. Value for money: 10/10
    The game will give you your money's worth even if you buy it full price, due to the interesting stroy, the convincing atmosphere and the awsome gameplay. Conclusion: 10/10
    Playing "The past of us part 2" is TIME WELL SPENT. It is a good game. Do not listen to the haters frustrated by the outcome of the story, just give it a try and you will not regret it! May your survival be long and your death be swift!    … Expand

    When I first played through the Last of Us Part II, I experienced the same anger and rage that most of the community had been through due to its controversial and 'interesting' story. At the time I probably would've given the game a 4 or a 5 due to its very inconsistent story-telling, how little I cared for the characters, and how the game dragged on loads towards the end. At the time I probably would've given the game a 4 or a 5 due to its very inconsistent story-telling, how little I cared for the characters, and how the game dragged on loads towards the end. But after playing the game a second time through and watching others play it, i've leaned towards understanding this game a little bit more. I appreciate the vast beauty of this game, and its much improved gameplay from the first. I enjoy the brutality of the story and the point its trying to tell. However, I still have those same thoughts on the framing of the game as a whole. The story, albeit very different from the first seems as if it was caught in some sort of rewrite, there are points in the story where it seems its trying to hammer home this idea of the cycle of revenge and brutality, where other points it seems to try to call back to the first game. This detracts from the story in my opinion as I would much rather prefer that the game be hammered home in either direction, either take it in the way of The Last of Us, or hammer home your new idea for a story, don't get cold feet trying to do both. The also relative inconsistencies in the story and how little it seems to do to make us care for certain characters certainly detracts from the game. But my BIGGEST complaint of the story is the arbitrary split in the middle of the game, I strongly feel that if the game had simply had both sides of the story running alongside each other, the game would've felt smoother and not dragged on as much towards the end. To me, it makes no logical sense why you would write a story that builds all the way up for 8~ hours up to a climax, just to cut away to another 8~ hours of gameplay to make us go through the whole process again. While ive come to appreciate the game more than I originally did, there still are some story concepts and writing that I cannot wrap my head around. However, I would still probably tell you to give this game a watch or playthrough as it definitely is one to watch.… Expand

    One of my favorite games is ruined by woke culture and LGBT / sjw bs. A total disappoinment. You guys ruined one of the best game franchise ever with this bs. No sir i don't want to be preached with this kind of bs when i lay down and hold my gaming controller on my hands.

The graphics fighting mechanisms, gameplay, sound, everything in this game is PERFECT. unfortunately though it a story nobody really nobody wanted to see. The person who wrote the story must be a sadist. If you like Joel and Ellie please do not play this game because they have managed to completely destroy those 2 characters. They completely ruined the glare the first game had. For me it is a sequel that should have never been. I have no comments on having to play half of the game with a character I hate just watching her face. I give this game a 7/10 only because its called the last of us and its technical part (meaning everything else other than the story) is incredible.

    Kann gar nicht verstehen, warum das Spiel hier teilweise so schlecht dargestellt wird, ich vermute es sind Leute die einen Prinzip-Hass auf das Spiel haben, weil Homosexuelle Handlungen dargestellt werden oder die Geschichtserzählung nicht Ihren Werten entspricht.

    Techniquement c'est parfait, c'est inhumain de faire tourner ce jeux sur une PS4 de première génération, il est incroyablement beau.

    Bon concernant l'histoire, j'ai pu comprendre qu'elle divisait beaucoup, moi je trouve que l'histoire est très bien écrite, la réalisation est efficace, les cinématiques sont presque invisibles (passage du gameplay aux cinématiques sans coupures).     Le gameplay est d'un réalisme... s'en est frustrant de retourner sur d'autres jeux ensuite, techniquement c'est très propre, les ennemies réagissent à la mort de leur collègues en criant leur noms, par exemple. Les détails apportés dans le jeux sont nombreux et vraiment plaisants à découvrir.
    L'IA est incroyable, en mode "Réaliste", le jeux est d'une difficulté tellement l'IA est intelligente, ils vous contournent quand ils vous perdent de vue, si vous vous cachez sous une voiture, ils viendront regarder en dessous de celle-ci, etc...

    J'ai fais le jeux plusieurs fois, dont une fois en VF et une fois en VO ; les deux versions sont parfaites, la VF (me concernant) est impeccable, toutes les voix sans exception sont parfaitement doublées avec une synchronisation labiale parfaite et raccordée.

    Pour moi c'est un très bon jeux même si on peut noter une dernière heure de jeux inutile à mon sens, vers la fin ça traine un peu en longueur malgré un finish très convaincant et qui me donne des frissons à chaque fois que je termine le jeux.    … Expand

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------- First of all I want to say that of course there are people that genuinely disliked the game which is fine because what I'm about to say is just my opinion as well.

    So obviously the main reason there are so many bad reviews about a weak plot is because of how quick and brutally Joel got killed in TLOU part 2. I am a big TLOU fan and I cant lie, I was pretty sad and angry when I first realised he had died and wasn't coming back. That the character we've played as for so many hours, that we've traveled across the US with, was gone and you couldn't do anything about it. But I think that this characters death alone makes people angry enough to think it's a bad game, is the reason why the game is so good. You feel the same way as Ellie, you can relate to Ellie when walking down that brutal, bloody path of revenge because one of your favorite characters got killed. I don't know about you, but in the beginning of TLOU part 2 I was happily killing everyone that got in my way to avenge Joel, but towards the end, and after seeing abby's perspective, I understood her point of view more. Imagine being abby instead of Ellie in TLOU 1 and some crazy guy with hundreds of deaths to his name killed your father who was trying to discover a cure for the fungus killing most of humanity for the past 20 years. I definitely still hate her for doing what she did, but I understand her reasons which makes her a great antagonist. The truth is, if Ellie killed her, someone else would have probably killed Ellie, and then Dina or someone would kill that person, and then another person would kill Dina and so on. But Ellie, realizing killing abby wont bring Joel back, and already traumatized by all of the countless people shes killed, decided to not kill abby, which would've probably haunted her for the rest of her life. This game is very **** sad, devastating and heartbreaking, but that's just the way TLOU's dark, gritty and realistic world is. It's not a game about flowers and sunshine. Sure, there are lighthearted moments (which I love they make me very happy), but all of the characters are forced to a violent lifestyle, if not to defend themselves from hunters, it's to be able to live with the constant threat of infected. Joel dying is probably one of the saddest moments in gaming but it's also what makes TLOU part 2 TLOU part 2. It immediately sets the tone and you're like 'oh **** that really happened. It's about to get really dark and brutal.' Basically what I'm trying to say is that Joel's death and the entire story with Ellie, who was once a little girl always joking around but now murdering people whilst traumatizing herself because of how angry and broken she is, is the saddest thing ever, but it also makes it one of the best games ever. All these emotions. It's amazing what ND have done with the sequel. Everything you've done and experienced, all leading up to this dark, depressing ending. It really makes you feel something.

    And that's just talking about one aspect of the story jesus I could talk for days about this. But other than the amazing story, you cant deny that the graphics, first of all, are beautiful. I mean, next time you play the game, take a second to look at the environment. The details. It all looks so real. It continues to amaze me how far games have come.

    Next thing I want to talk about is the combat. It's so **** flawless and cool, a perfect mixture of brutality and swiftness. This really makes any encounter feel like a movie.

    And then of course there's the acting. I literally cant find the words to describe how amazing and realistic the acting is. All these amazing and talented actors are what bring the characters alive. It's what makes a game better then lots of movies.

    And finally the sound design. I'm sure you've already noticed this in TLOU part 1. Its beautiful. That's all I have to say.

    All of that put together by lots of talented developers, programmers, designers and the rest of the people that worked on the game creates this amazing, emotional and beautiful game. Don't let one moment ruin this beautiful cinematic piece of art.

    But of course that's just my opinion about The Last Of Us part II. (To all of the people sending hate to abby's voice actor and face model, how does it feel to be an immature full of **** disgusting unlikable person. Feel free to change.)    … Expand

    A very Intense game with some very emotional moments, some of the storylines will stay with you long after playing the game. Really enjoyed playing this. Worthy successor to the first game.

    You may love the story or you may hate the story... but what the game shows with perfection is that we are humans and we screw up (even in a "normal" world, let alone after the apocalipse). The game itself is a masterpiece. Amazing graphics, gameplay etc, Don't let bullies and fake news spreaders (90% of the bad reviews here who hasn't even played the game but are against a progressiveYou may love the story or you may hate the story... but what the game shows with perfection is that we are humans and we screw up (even in a "normal" world, let alone after the apocalipse). The game itself is a masterpiece.     Fill all expectations and more. After finishing this game I am blown away. Clever storytelling, where you get an insight to the main and side characters stories and feelings in depth. It is brutal, scary and emotional. Full of varied action scenes and great visuals. Good animations. Strongly recommend this game.

The writer is underestimate his fans cuz he thinks adding a little bit of left-wing narrative is ok, but nahhh we're not that stupid. I wanna vote this game 7/10 but the way they look down on their fans is unacceptable

Que abusa de lo "politicamente correcto" y que termina metiendo mucho RELLENO para intentar tapar el gran agujero argumental.

    He amado la primera entrega, para mi ha sido    Debo decir que soy uno de los que preordenó este juego y literalmente fue lo peor que pude haber hecho en tanto tiempo. 60 dolares mal gastados en un juego que cambia drásticamente la mentalidad de sus personajes. It’s an equally great if not even greater game than it’s predecessor. Everything from the mechanics to the graphics to the AI, variety of enemies, voice acting, facial animations, etc. is all perfect. The storytelling & its pacing are incredible & never dullIt’s insane that a game this good got review bombed. It’s obvious that the vast majority of these people never even played the game . It’s an equally great if not even greater game than it’s predecessor. Everything from the mechanics to the graphics to the AI, variety of enemies, voice acting, facial animations, etc. is all perfect. When I finished, I didn't know if I liked it or not—a mixed feeling. I talked with two first, and they had a distinguished opinion. one hated the story, and the other loved it. I look for more opinions on the reviews on Metacritic, youtube videos to have more substantial base arguments. I look for all the reviews, and I often agree more with people who didn't like the game than people who loved it.
    The gameplay was magnificent. The quality that naughty dog has presented and has us used to. I had fun killing zombies and other enemies, 10/10—especially the fight against rat king.
    But the story wasn't that pleasant to watch. The way they decided to tell was a complete mess. I was uncomfortable playing with Abby and fighting Ellie, and the game was forcing me to do that. The same went when Ellie was almost killing Abby.
    Also, I don't condemn the decision of killing Joe; for me was a risky move, and the naughty dog had the guts to take it. If the story were rewritten, I would understand if Joe dies at the end. What I condemn and don't understand is the way that he died. It looks forced and out of character for Joe to trust random people like that. If naughty dog forced a little more, they would **** themself.

    The biggest letdown of a sequel. Terrible narrative, a story that drags on and on, terrible depressing pointless ending, no multi-player this time around , tricky marketing for the game, and horrible pacing issues. Would never buy a part 3.

What I liked about the first game was tasty there was genuine character growth and love between Joel and ellie. Even though the world was dark, there was hope. I really cared about the characters. Now in this sequel, they torture and kill a character I really cared about while his daughter grows and begs to stop it from happening. And then I have to play as the sadistic torturer and murdered (who Joel risked his life to save when she first met him) for hours. It was like the game was punishing me for caring about Joel. I didn't care about abbie one bit. But I still had to play as her to finish the story which I paid for. I swear I think they made her unlikable on purpose. Even her interactions with her teammates seemed psychotic. It was just too bleak and dark without any of the best that was present in the first game. I wish I could get a refund.… Expand

    The ending of the game it tries to teach you "revenge is bad" yet all the people you kill to get up to part is ok? Also in part I Joel was all about being hidden and part 2 they were like throwing parties and oh come to our spot etc. Finally the part where abby is shown is such a stupid way to add in their own agenda to the game. You spend a big part of the game just walking og watching cutscenes and the story told here is a mess, the big twists in the story was so easy to see coming. For some reason they force you to actually play through a lot of the cutscenes in the game, making a second playthrough a chore. At the end I felt like a wasted my time playing this game, the story was boring and what felt like 70% of the game was cutscenes or walking from point A to B while listening to the characters talking.
    This felt more like a soap opera than a game. So dissapointing, the first game is one of my all time favorite games.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU1 got maximum points from me. Why didn’t TLOU2 get it? There are three main reasons for this:
    1. The way Joel died was just horrible.
    2. Playing as Abby was a forced activity that I would not have wanted to do.
    3. Story.

    This game feels different compared to the first game. It does have some new game mechanics compared to the first game (for example crawling and dodge possibilities), but nothing very different. Infected behavior is a little bit different and the sound they make is also refined. It takes time to get used to, especially if you've just played through TLOU1.

    I remember in TLOU1 trying to get past the doctor without harming him, but the game wouldn't allow it. It was just frustrating. And now Joel paid a high price for it. Joels death was too cruel for me as I loved his character and played with him over 10 hours in the first TLOU game. I felt like I was ready to stop playing the game after that scene. But I forced myself to play to find out what would happen to Ellie.
    On Ellie`s gameplay, you don’t get powerful weapons (for example shotgun and plantable bomb) if you don’t search every corner and every house. I can only imagine how hard the game is without these.

    Playing as Abby went on and on, felt like never ending. I noticed that playing as Abby on normal difficulty was significantly harder than playing as Ellie. It was fun that Abby had a dog and I got to use it a few times at first, but that was about it. Most of the time the dog was not with Abby. WLF always keeps dogs with them, but somehow Abby only had it in the beginning. I don’t get it. Fighting Tommy, aka Joel's brother, was especially uncomfortable as Abby. Tommy was very good with his sniper rifle and could easily take Abby down as he took already the whole WLF team down. I absolutely did not want to play that part, and it felt so wrong. Elli and Abby's fight in the theater was particularly strange. Elli was so much stronger (shotgun, etc.) that she could have easily killed Abby. But the game didn't allow it!

    There are a lot of flash backs, and I repeatedly lost track of where I was and what I was doing. I've never seen so many flash backs in any game than this one.

    So, Ellie is gay and is dating a woman, Abby is like a man, and there is a dedicated chapter to transgender girl/boy. What did I just play? It does not make any sense at all. Abby had sex with Owen but for some reason didn't get pregnant. Owen had sex with another woman (Mel) and quickly got her pregnant. You can't fail to notice these kinds of strange things.

    If you have played TLOU1 and are thinking about playing TLOU2, I recommend not playing it. Joel did what he had to do with all those who wanted to hurt Elli. This game is not worth ruining the beautiful memories of Joel.    … Expand

    I am not looking forward to Part III, Unlesss Part II was an alternate universe or a dream.

    - The Acting is solid from everyone, even the grunts that you're forced to kill say their lines to the highest standard

    The Bad (where to start?):
    - I said the graphics are amazing, but I don't think the visual design looks good, it's mostly grey, grey as far as the eye can see which isn't fun to look at.

    - Level design is quite simply either an over-sized corridor that doesn't look like a corridor so as to trick your brain into thinking you're not walking down a corridor, or walking down an actual corridor.

    - Mission design is pretty much, "hey see that place off in the distance, we gotta walk that for some reason, and they'll probably be something in our way that we need to brutally kill" CTRL C for 20 hours.

    - Furthermore... IT'S 20 GOD DAMN HOURS LONG!!! Way longer than it has any right to be, which makes playing it oh so very boring and frustrating after the first 10 hours.

    - Story... Jesus Christ. Metacritic only allows 5000 characters for a review, I'd need 5x that to fully example how unbelievably terrible the story, plot, writing, characters, themes and world-building are, but here's my thoughts in brief:

    - the only way I could fix the story is if it was completely rewritten, from start to finish it's stupid, slow, ridiculous, nonsensical, and full of filler, which is why it's 20 hours long

    - the plot only works if all the characters had a lobotomy beforehand, but as far as I'm aware they didn't so the plot doesn't work on any level except maybe for baby's first dramatic fiction writing.

    - despite the characters being played very well by some very talented actors who I can tell put their hearts and souls into this stinker, the characters are all terrible, despite the writers trying to make you like "certain" characters more than others, you end up hating everyone when you take a step back and think about it for 2 minutes.

    - When the overall theme of "revenge is bad" is not only predictable and has been done in a thousand other, better stories, but is horribly executed here, for example (no spoilers) Ellie does something pretty bad thing at the mid-point in order to get revenge, she seems very shaken by the experience immediately after and you'd think being a reasonable human being that she'd call it a day because of it, but in the next scene, she's completely fine, err...

    - The world in which this game takes place, i.e. zombie apocalypse doesn't sit comfortably with the overall theme, plot and story, the infected are simply there to add some continuity points and be another thing to kill, and this possibly could have been forgiven if this game wasn't attached to one of the best games that come out in the last decade and was a new IP, but it is, unfortunately, a sequel to that game which doesn't expand on the information given to us in the last game so you're more or less just wondering what's the point of this game if it's not going to expand on what the last game gave us.

    And sums up my thoughts on The Last of Us Part II, it is a game that has no right to exist the way it does, it adds nothing to the world, and literally takes everything from every single character, the first game had an overall theme of "hope", a theme that stopped that game from being a pain to play, this game is a misery to play, of all the games I've played, the good, the bad, and the forgettable, the game I regret playing the most is this one.

    For me, this game doesn't exist and The Last of Us was simply the last game in that IP    … Expand

    I've played the first game couple of times but can't imagine a second playthrough of TLOU2. Although the gameplay and graphics are nice, the story feels like a slog and difficult to get through. Even though I can't put it words, I can see the plot is poorly written and was such a shame that this was what we got after waiting for 7 years.

    The game has great graphics, gameplay, and features a nice golf club to make you feel like Tiger Woods himself. However, the story is just ridiculously bland. They've destroyed what made the series great. This was a major slap to the face for every fan waiting 7 years for this sequel. I only played to get my money's worth because I cannot get a refund.

    Now. TLoU part II is like the Bloody Baron, just a whole game. Gut wrenching, controller smashing, game quitting experience that will make you feel uncomfortable and question all you know about this game and it's protagonists and about you in general.

From the graphics to the scope to the writing, this is top-notch quality. The protagonists are well-rounded and realistic. Human, yet absolute beasts. Charming, yet vindictive and ruthless.     The story was pretty crazy. The game starts off with a bang and gives you little breadcrumbs as you search for the truth. It depicts themes of forgiveness, duty, hope, tragedy, loss, sacrifice... basically essences of humanity. It's a heartbreaking story, but at the same time it highlights the human spirit and how it can keep going even in Hell On Earth.

    There are two issues that people bring up with this game:

    1) I think people are overreacting to the LGBT themes. If the main character is gay, she'll be friends with LGBT people. It doesn't seem to be a focus point in the story, but the audience is going to focus in on what it wants to.

    2) The drama that the game starts off with is heartbreaking. You can't believe it just happened. It's unthinkable. You try to piece together why any of it happened through the remainder of the game. The motives are unclear for so long. You go through what the protagonist goes through. You see it from their view. You see the antagonist's view. It makes complete sense why. This isn't Marvel where Spiderman is invincible and always thwarts the enemy. This is a multi-dimensional story that reflects real life. Your friends can be killed in real life and there is no amount of grief that will bring them back.    … Expand

    Great game. The story, characters and gameplay are phenomenal. I have never played a game that has impacted me as much as this. I know this game is hated among the community, but I will never stop defending it.

    Fantastic game. Pacing sets it back from being as good as the first one, but still a fantastic game.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
